Came by for brunch on a Saturday and everything was awesome! We ordered drinks that were perfectly made, the Cold Fashioned (cold brew old fashioned) and the WC Old Fashioned. Then the deviled eggs are always a good choice. The food was great! Those crispy potatoes with chili oil were crunchy and addicting. The breakfast sandwich is my new go to dish for brunch here. My wife loved the farmers breakfast. I ordered extra grits because they were so good! Went for happy hr and stayed for dinner. I had a nice outing with my coworkers. We shared appetizers,laughs and a few cocktails. I ordered the steak frites with creamy horseradish sauce. Omg! I found the best fish and chips in the area! The fish was perfectly cooked as it was so flaky and tender. The batter was light and crispy and not greasy. I love that their fries are hand cut and they are really good. The fish and chips dish is hands down 5/5! I can't believe it took me this long to try Whiskey Cake. The restaurant is very spacious with lots of seatings, yet its rustic modern-industrial décor and dim lighting give off a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's very Joanna Gaines. While the ambiance is casual, the food is exquisite and the portion size is very generous. The service was incredibly friendly. My server was warm, welcoming, and attentive. Drove a shout and 10 minutes to visit Whiskey Cake for an event. Man! What a pleasant surprise. The event was empowering. But the ambiance was amazing! It feels like you're stepping into someone's large living room with all your cousins! The lounge area near the back is so inviting to just sit a while. The servers were awesome! Our server was Cody I believe was his name. He handled our party very well, while also assisting patrons in the dining area. Even more amazing was the assistance offered to help me get in my car. The manager on duty , asked Cody if he would back my car out, because the car beside me parked to close for me to get in. Cody happily helped, as well as load my walker. Got the chicken and waffles which were fire. Super crispy chicken, fluffy waffles, loved the fried egg, and the side of gravy was excellent. The mac and cheese was pretty tasty. Also split a burger which I thought was just fine. Had to get dessert and there was one clear choice: the Whiskey Cake. There are two TVs if you find the need to watch football. I really came here for the pork chop! And it did not disappoint. Please get it. The perfectly crusted and juicy. Amazing. The deviled eggs present well but were very very bland. Didn't finish them. The crispy potatoes were pretty good. Could have been more crispy and seasoned but with some ranch they were edible. The Gouda Mac and cheese was ok. I think chefs may need to start tasting the food to see what is missing. Flavors were lacking all around. I have been twice and it's the same. We came here last minute for a dinner with friends and we were surprised with how good it was for a chain restaurant. I had the steak frites and the steak was sooo good. The steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were perfect! The bone in pork chop was also amazing cooked perfectly and full of flavor and the peach that came on the side was amazing. Great food with nice service as always. Have been to a couple of Whiskey Cake locations. Had a great evening here for a work outing Monday night.. There were over 20 of us. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. It was weird that we mainly had one server for such a large group. But for the most part she kept up with us all. Had a few appetizers to sample, the charcuterie board. Deviled eggs and goat cheese were all great. Top quality ingredients. My main entree was sadly cold on the outside and only warm in the center. Things did not come out all at once, so it was not a matter of 20 plates being served at same time. But food was still good. I got the English pea pasta ; and sadly found out I do not like english peas (not restaurants fault) but chicken, sauce and pasta were great themselves. I gotta add the atmosphere is great. Came here for brunch over the weekend with my girlfriend and another couple. We made reservations for 12pm on Sunday and were shocked that it wasn't crowded yet. We were seated in a booth off to the side with the best dimmed lighting, it was very relaxing. The food was delicious and HUGE. I ordered the Croque Madame-It (LOL) and it was heaven in my mouth. My girlfriend got the short stack, which was confusing, because it was gigantic. I'm so curious to see what a normal stack would have been haha. Table shared candied bacon and the massive cinnamon roll. both of which were quite nice. Dude yikes. What happened to this place? I understand a few menu changes, but by gosh. I got the steak frites and they completely changed it. They cut my steak for me (one of my personal pet peeves) and the frites were atrocious. My husband got the French onion burger as recommended by the server and it was ungodly salty. After three or so bites, he said his tongue was dry from all the salt. I tasted it and agreed. The goat cheese fondue was universally oily and needed some fresh greens to freshen the dish. Everything was oily, oily, and some more oil. The whiskey cake itself was the biggest disappointment. The crispy, crunchy, spiced and balanced cake is gone. Now we have a caramel drenched soft cake. I loved whiskey cake because it was such a departure from the sugary sweet desserts I can get anywhere else. This was our anniversary dinner and I remember why we don't come here. read more

When customers call to place an order don't place them on hold and never return to the customer. I was on hold for 20 mins, during this time I was able to call from a second phone and place an order. The whole interaction took 1 minute. I was still on hold as I entered and exited the building with my order. I wish the beer selection was a little more robust. However, being from the West, I appreciate Sierra Nevada being on tap. Every entree I have had is satisfying, but the Chickenbirdger is standout that is unique, flavorful sandwich. Now, for dessert! The Whiskey Cake is a must! It is definitely shareable, so just go for it! If you like the smell from the candles when you walk in, then you will love the dessert version. Somehow Upper Room Candle Company perfectly captured the taste of the Whiskey Cake as the scent of the candles that they hand pour locally. I had only been here once before for a business meeting, so I wasn't yelping but remembered the deviled eggs were phenomenal. The current DE in the chef's rotation was BLT, and four days later, we are still talking about them. That was just the appetizer! Both the chicken and waffles and chicken rigatoni pasta were scrumptious. I had the Texas whisky flight, and my wife had a speakeasy, Rita, which we both enjoyed. The waitress was attentive, making the whole experience a great time and a relatively efficient dinner. We grabbed a whisky cake to-go, which we indulged in when we got home from our night out. Unfortunately, I'll never know how the food tastes at the Whiskey Cake location in Katy, Texas--because of how we were treated. At about 6:15 p.m., our party of four arrived and asked for a table. The hostess asked if we had a reservation; we said no. She then told us that only outdoor seating was available. Keep in mind, it was about 50 degrees in Katy and felt closer to 45. Meanwhile, the restaurant was only about half full. I questioned whether there was really no indoor seating available, but she politely insisted there wasn't. So we left. Out of curiosity, I went online immediately and made a reservation for 6:30 p.m. for four people--indoors. The reservation was instantly confirmed. Strange, right? All I ask is this: if you don't want my business, just say it. For the record, WHISKEY AND CAKE, I don't even like whiskey or cake--but basic honesty and customer service still matter. read more

Whiskey cake has been a favorite happy hour spot for many years but now is the time to write a review. As with most well run chains, there is consistency in appearance and quality from site to site. I really like the spacious dining room with many high top tables and a huge bar. The staff, regardless of location, is well trained on how to maximize your experience. My take is that Whiskey Cake is an excellent spot for happy hour with a large starter/appetizer selection which goes well with a couple of drinks. However, every time I venture beyond that to order Main Entrees, I'm not impressed. The dishes range from "ok" to "good", never great. What draws me back over and over again are the drinks and desserts. You absolutely have to try the whiskey cake on the menu. The last two times we've been here, things have improved. I believe the manager has changed as there is a better flow and friendliness of the staff. The food has been better, but it really depends on what you get still. Burger: my son ordered it medium rare, came well done.
