Came by for brunch on a Saturday and everything was awesome! We ordered drinks that were perfectly made, the Cold Fashioned (cold brew old fashioned) and the WC Old Fashioned. Then the deviled eggs are always a good choice. The food was great! Those crispy potatoes with chili oil were crunchy and addicting. The breakfast sandwich is my new go to dish for brunch here. My wife loved the farmers breakfast. I ordered extra grits because they were so good! My only complaint was that the glasses for water were a little dirty and the water bottle came out with some stuff floating in it. But not a big deal. If you want a good brunch, then head over here. This place has always been a favorite of mine. Most recently i went for brunch and was not disappointed. I had the strawberry short-stack pancake it was delicious! I paired it with their grits and it was the perfect sweet and spicy combo. I got the cinnamon roll as well. The cinnamon roll was tough to cut but the flavor was good, especially the sauce. The service was great and the restaurant was clean as usual. I definitely will be going back for brunch again soon read more

I've tried it a couple times and didn't prefer it, but I thought why not let's give it a shot at the location in Katy since I hadn't been. The gentleman at the bar was a younger African-American gentleman and he was extremely nice. My only thing was I sat at the bar and he never told me that there was a happy hour menu so I ordered off of the regular menu and only noticed that there were happy hour items when I saw other people Ordering. no complaints about the food or his service. Omg! I found the best fish and chips in the area! The fish was perfectly cooked as it was so flaky and tender. The batter was light and crispy and not greasy. I love that their fries are hand cut and they are really good. The fish and chips dish is hands down 5/5! I can't believe it took me this long to try Whiskey Cake. The restaurant is very spacious with lots of seatings, yet its rustic modern-industrial décor and dim lighting give off a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's very Joanna Gaines. While the ambiance is casual, the food is exquisite and the portion size is very generous. The service was incredibly friendly. My server was warm, welcoming, and attentive. I highly recommend trying their Whiskey Cake and would rate it 5/5. It was too much for two people, so I took it home and was glad I did because I enjoyed it the next day for lunch. We decided to stop here and truly enjoyed everything! The food was delicious and the ambiance was warm and inviting. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Also split a burger which I thought was just fine. Had to get dessert and there was one clear choice: the Whiskey Cake. Drove a shout and 10 minutes to visit Whiskey Cake for an event. Man! What a pleasant surprise. The event was empowering. But the ambiance was amazing! It feels like you're stepping into someone's large living room with all your cousins! The lounge area near the back is so inviting to just sit a while. The servers were awesome! Our server was Cody I believe was his name. He handled our party very well, while also assisting patrons in the dining area. Even more amazing was the assistance offered to help me get in my car. The manager on duty , asked Cody if he would back my car out, because the car beside me parked to close for me to get in. Cody happily helped, as well as load my walker. I enjoyed this restaurant. The glowy ambience and the rustic feel is very high end. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were pretty attentive. There are two TVs if you find the need to watch football. I really came here for the pork chop! And it did not disappoint. Please get it. The perfectly crusted and juicy. Amazing. The deviled eggs present well but were very very bland. Didn't finish them. The crispy potatoes were pretty good. Could have been more crispy and seasoned but with some ranch they were edible. We came here last minute for a dinner with friends and we were surprised with how good it was for a chain restaurant. I had the steak frites and the steak was sooo good. The steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were perfect! The bone in pork chop was also amazing cooked perfectly and full of flavor and the peach that came on the side was amazing. If you do get a couple of appetizers you HAVE to get the candied bacon and goat cheese fondue. Both appetizers absolutely amazing, full of flavor and a must! Great food with nice service as always. Have been to a couple of Whiskey Cake locations. Had a great evening here for a work outing Monday night.. There were over 20 of us. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. It was weird that we mainly had one server for such a large group. But for the most part she kept up with us all. Had a few appetizers to sample, the charcuterie board. Deviled eggs and goat cheese were all great. Top quality ingredients. My main entree was sadly cold on the outside and only warm in the center. Things did not come out all at once, so it was not a matter of 20 plates being served at same time. But food was still good. I got the English pea pasta ; and sadly found out I do not like english peas (not restaurants fault) but chicken, sauce and pasta were great themselves. I gotta add the atmosphere is great. Came here for brunch over the weekend with my girlfriend and another couple. We made reservations for 12pm on Sunday and were shocked that it wasn't crowded yet. We were seated in a booth off to the side with the best dimmed lighting, it was very relaxing. The food was delicious and HUGE. I ordered the Croque Madame-It (LOL) and it was heaven in my mouth. My girlfriend got the short stack, which was confusing, because it was gigantic. I'm so curious to see what a normal stack would have been haha. Dude yikes. What happened to this place? I understand a few menu changes, but by gosh. I got the steak frites and they completely changed it. They cut my steak for me (one of my personal pet peeves) and the frites were atrocious. My husband got the French onion burger as recommended by the server and it was ungodly salty. After three or so bites, he said his tongue was dry from all the salt. I tasted it and agreed. The goat cheese fondue was universally oily and needed some fresh greens to freshen the dish. Everything was oily, oily, and some more oil. The whiskey cake itself was the biggest disappointment. The crispy, crunchy, spiced and balanced cake is gone. Now we have a caramel drenched soft cake. I loved whiskey cake because it was such a departure from the sugary sweet desserts I can get anywhere else. This was our anniversary dinner and I remember why we don't come here. read more

When customers call to place an order don't place them on hold and never return to the customer. I was on hold for 20 mins, during this time I was able to call from a second phone and place an order. The whole interaction took 1 minute. I was still on hold as I entered and exited the building with my order. Went here for brunch on Saturday, December 6. Service was amazing, friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu, and quite accommodating with a special request regarding an allergy. Table shared candied bacon and the massive cinnamon roll. both of which were quite nice. Meals included farmer's breakfast, steak and egg hash, crab benedict, and prime rib gouda stack, all of which were enjoyed! I wish the beer selection was a little more robust. However, being from the West, I appreciate Sierra Nevada being on tap. Every entree I have had is satisfying, but the Chickenbirdger is standout that is unique, flavorful sandwich. Now, for dessert! The Whiskey Cake is a must! It is definitely shareable, so just go for it! If you like the smell from the candles when you walk in, then you will love the dessert version. Somehow Upper Room Candle Company perfectly captured the taste of the Whiskey Cake as the scent of the candles that they hand pour locally. I am extremely disappointed and honestly extremely upset by my experience at this restaurant. We came here to celebrate my son's birthday, and while the food itself was not the issue, what happened afterward has been incredibly distressing. I have a 3 month old exclusively breastfed son who has a dairy allergy. Because of his allergy, I cannot consume dairy at all. Before ordering, I specifically asked our waitress, Kim (I believe that was her name) whether the meal I was ordering contained any dairy. I made it very clear that I could not have dairy because of my baby's allergy. I was assured that the meal did not contain dairy, so I trusted that information and ate the meal. The next day, my baby broke out severely on his face, had blood in his stool, and was extremely uncomfortable for the entire day. As a mother, I cannot adequately express how upsetting and frightening it was to see my infant suffering. I immediately began trying to figure out what could have caused this reaction. I called the restaurant and specifically asked whether the Rooster Royale the meal I had ordered contained dairy. The woman who answered put me on hold to check and then came back and confirmed that the meal did, in fact, contain dairy. I was then transferred to a gentleman named Onyx, who asked me the same questions, apologized, and offered to refund my meal. While I appreciate the apology and the offer of a refund, a refund is not the point. The issue is that I specifically disclosed a serious dietary concern related to my infant's health, asked a direct question about whether the food contained dairy, and was given incorrect information. I relied on that information, and my baby became seriously ill afterward. I asked to speak with a manager and was told by Onyx that Taylor Miller the General Manager would contact me by the end of the day on July 26. No one called. It is now nearly the end of July 27, and I still have not received a call. I am extremely disappointed not only that incorrect information was given to me about a known allergen, but also by the complete lack of follow-up afterward. When a customer raises a serious allergy concern involving an infant's health, I would expect the situation to be treated with urgency and genuine concern. Instead, I have been left feeling ignored and dismissed.I am sharing this review because I sincerely hope someone in leadership at this restaurant sees it and takes this situation seriously. I would like someone from the restaurant to contact me directly, not simply to offer a refund, but to provide a meaningful explanation of how this happened, why I was given incorrect information about the ingredients, and what steps will be taken to ensure this does not happen to another family. This experience has completely destroyed my trust in this restaurant. We will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone especially families dealing with serious food allergies. read more

Wow, wow, wow! The anniversary dinner was a grand slam this year at Whiskey Cake. I had only been here once before for a business meeting, so I wasn't yelping but remembered the deviled eggs were phenomenal. The current DE in the chef's rotation was BLT, and four days later, we are still talking about them. That was just the appetizer! Both the chicken and waffles and chicken rigatoni pasta were scrumptious. I had the Texas whisky flight, and my wife had a speakeasy, Rita, which we both enjoyed. The waitress was attentive, making the whole experience a great time and a relatively efficient dinner. We grabbed a whisky cake to-go, which we indulged in when we got home from our night out.
