I would strongly caution anyone considering this company. I canceled my contract within the 3-day cancellation period provided under California law and am still trying to recover my down payment almost two months later. I've attached photos and documentation for context, including the contract terms and my cancellation notice. Troy's reasoning is that we texted prior with questions but I've followed his contract which required email cancelation and not text. My experience has been extremely frustrating due to the lack of communication and failure to promptly return funds that I believe are owed. My mom recently had her patio redone and wanted to post this review: May 2025. Crafted Patios completed my 9 feet by 17 feet custom patio cover in three days. The cost was reasonable. The crew were always on time. They demolished and hauled away materials. The crew worked their full day and sometimes additional hours to stay on schedule. It was easy to communicate because the lead and most crew members spoke English. The cleaning, sweeping, and blowing off debris was done daily leaving a clean space. Crafted patio delivered on their contract and communicated well with me from the initial estimate all the way through the completion of my custom patio cover. STRONGLY encourage you to look elsewhere and DO NOT work with Crafted Patios and the owner Troy Criswell. We talked through, took pictures and walked out with Troy Criswell what we wanted and where we wanted a pergola in our backyard. Troy did not show up for the install. Troy sent plans to installers that were incorrect, and his installers built our pergola incorrectly, at a 1 foot slant to our existing patio. When we requested the correction to straighten the pergola, after multiple attempts to contact him, Troy stated via email he would pay for one half of the cost of his builders to reposition the posts of the pergola. Yet, once again Troy misinformed his builders of the level of work and time commitment to reposition the pergola. After the work was completed, Troy suddenly via text told his builders he would not pay for the work and then refused to answer phone calls and texts from us and his builders about payment. Called a couple months ago to get a quote. Guy came out quick, took pictures and measurements and said he's get back to me. About two weeks later when I didn't hear anything I called them. Guy was real nice, apologized for not getting back to me, said "give me a couple more days." So a couple days goes by and he says, "I misplaced the notes and pictures, can I come out again?" Okay, no problem I say. We make another appointment, he comes out again, measures, takes pictures, etc. Says he'll get back to me in "a couple days" again. I don't know how long it's been now. Crafted Patio did not have the insurance required my FOA. Once we discovered that, they refused to give me back my $800 deposit. I reached out to the owner (Troy) to ask for a refund. He offered to give me back HALF if I didn't post anything negative. I took him to small claims court and win a judgement for $1,200. He has yet to pay anything on the lien out against his bank. My review is extremely mixed. Like the other negative reviews have said, communication with these guys is abysmal. Max comes out to give a quote, then Troy the owner comes out to verify measurements. For both us and our neighbors, Max had pretty incorrect numbers. For us, Troy no called, no showed THREE times. So if you are taking a day off work to get a final number, this really could be detrimental. For our neighbors, Crafted Patio's ghosted them after Troy said Max's numbers were way off, even though our neighbors were willing to move forward. We love our patio cover. The original time from of "a day to a day and a half" became a 5 day project. The team that installed our light switch inside the house did a number on our drywall and we were informed after the fact that they do not repair this, so expect to also contract out any damage Crafted Patio's may create, as they do not take responsibility along the way. The good: the price literally cannot be beat. We priced out DIY, other local companies and this place is the way to go. Just know you will constantly be chasing them for any information and call backs, because communication is insanely lacking. read more

As evidenced with other reviews of this company, AVOID!!! They will make you the project manager and chase them down for every aspect of the job from scheduling to arrival of crew and timing. I've never experienced such poor expectation setting from the sales lead and/or the owner of the company. They never truly finished the job I hired them for and likely the only thing they did well was electrical work which was an ancillary ask on my part. They "guarantee" their work but made up an excuse that they can't come back to fix what they didn't do well for another 6-8 weeks. Save yourself the trouble and hire another crew. I have hired them 7 years ago for a job and they did a decent work. Having the history even though they were more expensive I hired them again. The work was very poor and the subcontractors really did not know how to do the work. First paint turned yellow.it took them 2 weeks to send another person to repaint over dust and pillars are not smooth and paint is dripping. Ground had all paint all over. Then I was told even though they had in the contract they will patch holes they only meant screw size holes on the wall from old patio demolition. Pillars now are loose and hanging from the patio cover. See the video? Owner Troy is very busy to respond or resolve and only texts to collect payment for the poor work. Not sure where all the stars came from. I guess I'm the only one with an issue. They came and gave me a great estimate and I hired them to put in my patio cover. I gave Max a cash deposit for a 2 month in the future install. I asked him for a receipt, he told me a receipt and updated contract would come in E mail that day. Nothing came, all calls and texts went unanswered. I looked up the main number in google and left multiple messages. The web site said open but no one answered. I finally got ahold of the owner via messenger. He told me that the secretary was at the doctor and I didn't get return call because they were spending time with there families. All I wanted was a receipt. I felt that they were all shady so I asked for a refund. I got it. I would also encourage anyone consider hiring them to look up the contractor license board. Do not use this company. Customer service is great up until you give them your deposit. Don't be fooled. Max came out on time and gave an estimate that sounded promising and said they would take care of all the permits. Once I agreed to the terms he drove to my house right away to pick up the deposit. Communication after that was horrible. Had to constantly remind the owner Troy to send me the invoice for my down payment. Was told my Max that they would take care of all the permits and the wait is backed up to about 2 months which was fine. Waited about 4 months and then they asked me to submit the permits myself because they said it was cheaper. Had a problem getting the permit and the design had to be scaled down almost 30% smaller than what was initially discussed. asked to cancel the work and no more response from the company and down payment lost. They may be cheaper at first but it's worth it to take your money elsewhere. Buyer beware! read more
