It seems that every time I come in either the blonde manager is hammered behind the bar or it's hotter than it is outside. I have been here several times and each one of them was a bad experience. Here is my summary. 1. The AC has never worked properly and the last time I was in there it must have been close to 90 degrees inside. 2. They have run out of food that is listed on the menu on two different occasions that I visited. 3. The wait staff is untrained and totally clueless. That's where the positives end; Food took 1 hour, drinks 20 minutes, and when it finally came the food was just average for San Marcos. I got a side salad with my burger, and there were no utensils at the salad bar...I was given a to-go pack of utensils and had to use the same fork for each item at the salad bar. Great atmosphere and cool place! Went for early lunch on Saturday. Tried the guacamole but it was not that good for being "homemade". The best thing was the pulled pork with mac & cheese grilled cheese sandwich and the potato salad! I had the brisket grilled cheese and it was good but brisket was tough and dry. Also it's seat yourself so we did sit for about 10 minutes until someone noticed us and came over, even when it wasn't that busy. Overall I know they just opened and working out the kinks. When I went to the CRAFThouse last week for lunch and the service was awful. I sat my self and I was there for 20 minutes without anyone saying anything or coming to my table to take my drink order. When we heard a new restaurant was on it's way that would offer fresh food, etc. it was exciting. Watching all the tasteful choices during the building process fall into place made us feel even more hopeful for something new and different. But then, up went 8 television screens and the largest one is above a beautiful fireplace, one of the nicest features. The food is average, not bad, but nothing special. My friends and I tried going here to celebrate my friend's birthday and I've never had such a poor experience at a restaurant. When we first got there it seemed nice enough so we ordered drinks and appetizers after we received our menus. After that, everything went downhill. The staff was unbelievably rude to us and kept complaining about making our food. They were also taking out the trash and walking it right past our table while we were sitting there which was revolting. At one point we asked if the kitchen was closed even though it was just after 9pm and they didn't close until midnight, and they told us it wasn't, so since we had already ordered and we didn't know of other options, we decided to try to continue with the meal. Then, while we were in the middle of ordering the chef repeatedly came to our table asking if he needed to fry anything and asking what we were getting. This made he situation very awkward when he could have just as easily waited the minute or two until we were done instead of continuously interrupting us. This made the ordering process take forever after we were already debating walking out. At this point, we just waited for our food that we were so lucky to have them make for us. We debated asking for a manager, but since they had been complaining about being the only people working we decided against it. The food was average, most of it was bland and the service seemed to improve as we finished the meal. My friend's food had mold on it and others were way overcooked. Overall, it wasn't the best and the service and experience we had while trying to celebrate my friend's birthday was terrible. read more

Poor service from the wait staff and you have pretty much pull teeth to get a drink from the bar in a timely manner. Worst experience I've ever had in San Marcos. I would frequent this place for lunch with co workers regularly. So when a friend came into town to visit I made the mistake of choosing this place for lunch. At first we sat by the bar and placed an order for food and beers. We decided to move outside after being served our drinks and the waitress outside decided to re I.D us. We handed over our IDs at which point our waitress started accusing my friend of having a fake ID while scratching at the barcode. She was extremely rude and unprofessional threatening to call the police. The ID was real, so we agreed to wait for the police. I asked to speak to her manager and we were directed to the acting manger behind the bar. The acting manager totally mishandled the situation and instead of diffusing the situation added fuel to the fire by yelling at us in front of a busy dining floor .They ultimately handed back the ID and kicked us out. The whole ordeal seemed racially fueled.Do not give this place your business. read more

The fries that came with it were a little smushy and not real hot. Need to fry them a little more. The chicken skewers were not good at all. They are overpriced for what you get and they aren't tasty. Two hunks of chicken with an unappetizing (don't taste marinated) flavor and no browning at all - big disappointment. The jicama slaw is mostly sweet peppers which is alright and pretty, but it wasn't what I thought. We went when it first opened and it was ok on food flavor too. The green bar had little to nothing left, was in a poor lit area and food was old. The main thing that ticked me off was our waitress. She was one of those waitresses that tried to memorize our order, then when she forgot stuff gave us an attitude. NOT COOL! We were only 3 people...stop trying to be an overachiever little girl! Food was bland and dry, we were not offered water, bbq sauce with our brisket and she got two of our orders incorrect...anyway...maybe just order fries next time, but those even sucked! also, the place was even packed and it was a Friday night, so being busy was not even a good reason for getting our orders wrong. Went in for drinks and appetizers one late afternoon. We each ordered one of the specialty cocktails, which were both very good and decently strong. We ordered an appetizer-- the bacon wrapped dates. It came out within five minutes, which instantly made me suspicious. I'm a chef, I know how these things work. They had obviously been sitting out for a while. They were room temp at best. Very tiny little things, and six of them for the 7 or so dollars was just not worth it. Music was too loud, but the service was quick and friendly. My wife and I are TXST alum and come to downtown San Marcos frequently. We were surprised to see this new establishment earlier this year and tried it out. The food and atmosphere is great. The service is horrible. Takes 10 minutes on average every time we go before anyone approaches us to take drink orders. The second time we went a waitress was simply walking around talking with her sorority sisters, while her coworker ran around frantically. I understand these are college students, but you get paid to work. Today is GameDay so we decided to try this place again. Complete chaos. Not enough servers for a Saturday when it's the first home game. We left after 15 minutes. I hope the service gets better because this is a nice little hangout place for alumni and students on GameDays. read more

This was our first time to go there. Friday was rib night. The ribs were very good. Had a nice spice rub and were tender but not falling apart. Good beer selection. Couldn't decide on a beer so we ordered their frozen screwdrivers to start off. I am not much on frozen drinks but it was awesome. Service was outstanding.
