Had a piece of hard plastic stuck on a tire, causing a slow leak. We were headed back to Arizona from a long road trip. Stopped in, greeted with a friendly counter person, told us it would be about 30 min, it only took about 15 min with a packed lobby (which should tell you something). Two other folks said hello, and one offered us some water. They were extremely friendly, quick, and fixed the problem. The cost was minimal. I was charged $50 for a " diagnostic test" and they said my upper ball joint was broken so they couldn't do my alignment. I went home and got the parts to do it and upon inspection my car did not need a replacement, I even took it somewhere else and they said "it's perfectly fine". Craig Tire has always been my go to for tires in Valencia County - today Ralph showed up at my house on a service call to replace all four of my horse trailer tires which would not have made it to the shop. He was professional, courteous and timely and swapped out the tires with no muss or fuss. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Craig Tires in the last 25 years I have been doing business with them. Got a flat, this was the only shop open. Their Google lists them as open till 7pm, but I was immediately being told that they were doing me a favor because they closed at 6, and I called them at 6:30, so that was strange. They charged me $25 for a patch job, which is normally a $10 job. But I was grateful they were doing the job, so even gave a $5 tip. This was 2 days ago. Today, woke up to the same tire completely flat. I've never had patch job that was so expensive and that didn't last. It's a shame. Also didn't feel comfortable with the random woman that was walking around and also commenting how they technically closed at 6, even though nobody was talking to her or dealing with her in any way. Dealing with an unplanned vehicle towing emergency, I stopped in to drop off one tire for replacement, and despite it being an obscure size, they had it in stock and had it ready to go in an hour despite being relatively busy. Brought the car being towed in later that day to get the other tire replaced so I could tow a long distance, and asked if they could also pull the drive shaft, again completely unscheduled and unplanned. Their mechanic was happy to do so, made quick work of it, and then didn't even charge me for that task. I mean, admittedly, pulling the drive shaft off this car was a pretty easy job, I've done it before, but it was above and beyond for them to do this for me for free with the tire purchase, especially considering I had no appointment. I needed tires for my truck, I looked at two chain tire shops with locations in Los Lunas. One had very high prices, the other did not have any of the tires listed on their website with the exception of their store brand. Craig Tire did not have the tires I wanted in-stock, but could get them from their supplier that day. I made an appointment to drop off my truck the next morning and they installed the tires I wanted. My only complaint was whoever took my information wrote my phone number down wrong, so they weren't able to reach me right away when my truck was ready. Absolutely satisfied all around with our experience at Craig Tire Co. - these guys do great work. Good attitude, good people, caring, kind and careful attention to our needs. We had our tire repaired in no time, and felt safe getting back on the road. What happened was, We had a couple issues with our tire while on the road, and it was Sunday - to be honest we went to Walmart Automotive first, they were not really sure of how to help us! So we searched and found Craigs ... thank goodness. He was so attentive on the phone, and was already trying to help us source a replacement tire (ours are speciality) ... then with an almost flat tire we made it, they were able to repair our tire thank goodness! Ended up getting a plug and a patch, They did a great job, took their time and we were back on the road in no time. Thanks a million Craig + Crew. I would like to start by saying the customer service here was excellent. The staff was very kind and accommodating, and the waiting area was very comfortable for me and my kids. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I had quite a poor experience. We went in for an alignment, and shortly after the mechanic began working on the car, he brought me to the vehicle and showed me that the bushings on our control arms were shot and the tie rod was loose. The quote I received to repair this issue was $600 (they wanted to replace my entire front end), to which I responded that I would perform the repairs myself. I purchased the parts I needed for $50, a mere 12% of what I was quoted. Now for the disappointing part: when I took off my tire to get to the tie rod, I couldn't get three of the lug nuts off the wheel; they were cross-threaded by the mechanic! I have never in my life had so much trouble with a lug nut. The mounting studs on my wheel then needed to be replaced because the mechanic had broken them. My wheel could have fallen off at any moment! This is very concerning ineptitude from a wheel-centric mechanic shop. read more

If I could give this company zero stars I would. My husband bought a lift for my truck. He was in the process of taking off the tires. The lug nuts were over torqued and they snapped. Craig Tire were the last guys to rotate and balance the tires. They did not want to come to our home to fix their issue that they caused because now the truck is not driveable. The manager accused my husband of taking the tire off and trying to put it back on and was the one who broke the lugs. This could of caused a serious accident if one of my tires fell off while driving because of the over torqued lugs. This is bad business and very unprofessional. Be aware they do not honor their work when they are obviously at fault. read more

These people are honest. I took my truck to get an alignment because I got new tires, and when they checked it they came back to tell me that it was only slight off and certainly not enough to spend extra money to get an alignment. I asked how much, he said no charge, have a good day. Wow. He could have easily made a slight adjustment and charged me for it. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me from Craig Tire. A few months ago I had a tire repaired at Craig for $18. I noticed that it was still losing pressure. I called and was told that they would repair the tire again if I had my receipt. If I didn't have it, then I would have to pay again. So, I found my receipt and took it in. As soon as I approached the cashier and told her why I was there she rebutted and said that it was probably something else that was causing the leak. A little while later a man comes out rolling my tire along and tells me that there was a screw in it, which is why it was losing air. He said he brought the tire to show me because I said they didn't fix it right last time. I let the man know that I did not accuse them of anything, that perhaps there was something wrong with the tire. They went ahead and fixed it and when it was done they charged me another $18. I get that prices have increased all around and Craig has to make money too. But, I have spent almost $40 in the past couple months repairing the same tire. Along with the accusatory tone I got from the workers at Craig, I think I will try the new tire shop in town next time I get a flat. read more

Since my incident with the tooth comments and sitting outside in the sun I've almost lost hope in Craigs. Me and my family have been customers since John Craig Sr. Once staff was aware of the issues, I was contacted and offered a balance job. It was nice to hear from someone but what was awesome was the service of the crew that changed my defective tire. Ralph is one cool cat. I suggest you ask for him. I still had to pay for the balancing of my new tire which did not match but it does drive smooth and I was treated professional the entire time. I fear that due to the recent loss of a great local tire mechanic David Sweeney I'll be going to Craigs and asking for Ralph and the nice girl behind the desk with red hair. One bit of advise to Craigs,: will a 15.00 balancing fee really keep you from another, new customer being satisfied and returning for more business? Keep up the good work Ralph and crew. We have nothing but praise for Craig Independent Tire! Two tires shredded on our motorhome on I-25 just north of Elephant Butte. We worked with the insurance company all day to find help with no luck. We couldn't be towed, the tires had to be replaced right there. Finally toward the end of the day we found Craig's in Belen, NM just south of Albuquerque. They answered right away, they said they had our tires, they said they could send someone out to replace the tires....it was music to our ears!! We thought we would be stranded on the side of the road all night. Ralph drove the 100 miles after he worked all day. He was so nice! And he sure loves New Mexico. Since it was our first time in the state he told us stories and told us places not to miss. In an hour he had us on the road just before the sun started setting. Two days later we had Craig Tire replace the remaining tires on our motorhome and what service! We arrived early like they suggested and 3 or 4 guys all worked at the same time to get us on our way again! Thank you to everyone and especially Craig and Ralph. PS Ralph - We took your advise and went up the longest tram in the world at Sandia Peak. It was awesome! We can't wait to come back for the hot air balloon festival someday. Don't go here. I brought my car in with a broken tire pressure sensor. They charged me $100 to replace it. But, they didn't know how to reset the warning light. After I insisted that they figure out how to reset it, they told me to go to the dealer in ABQ to get it reset. I found out later that they overcharged me for the sensor. read more
