I have bought 7 cars through cranky ape over the past 10 years. I bought one today and did NOT have a good experience to say the least. I drove 4 hours to pick up the car. I call the office and tell them I am 10 minutes from the Hastings location and the time was 4:20pm. Kelly, who was the least friendly person said that they close at 4:30 and lock the doors at 5:00pm. There is NO mention of this on their website. There's even a special notes section under their hours of operation and it said nothing about this. AND, when I called at 4:20, I asked if there were people signing papers to buy their cars... she says nope. I am now driving 4 hours back to my home and I am NOT picking up this car because of these lazy employees at Cranky Ape Auctions and I will be charged a penalty because of it. I will not use cranky ape again. The worst part was the way this Kelly receptionist talked to me. She said it would take 30 minutes to do the insurance portion of the paperwork for the car. I had insurance prior to my arrival. How could it take 30 minutes? One look at her and I suppose it makes sense, sort of. But Kelly, change your store hours to 4:30, not 5pm. And no, I doubt your manager told you the store closes at 4:30. I am just livid about this. I am complaining to any review site I can for the next 4 hours! read more

No such thing as buyer beware....i have used this site and have been following it for over 10 years. My original experience (the now closed Reno yard) had a helpful staff being that I am located (from Reno) over 2 hours they were more then willing to give me as much info as possible. incedent #1 The last 2 purchases within the last year, that were conducted at the Goodyear Az site were a complete scam. the MGR (john?) acted like he didn't have nore did he have the time to answer any questions. One of the items showed the purchased side by side running. While I was dealing with this MGR and the paper work they were forklifting the unit onto my trailer. I had hoped to start and drive it on myself as it was advertised in running condition. well Silly me thinking that they were legit purchased a 2023 Razor with a scattered motor. Rod knocking during acceleration. Sounded good in the video? incident #2 Just recently and me being a hard study purchased a boat from the same yard (goodyear) again the yard dog (john) demanded that I fill out the paper work prior to physically inspecting the unit I refused and with an attitude i looked at the boat thinking that it had a hole in the hull.... Boat looked fine but here goes another buyer beware this being an outboard they again show a video of the motor running. to add insult to injury after driving 10 hours home and while doing a service prior to launching found out that the pump and the oil injection were seized. Although this may have been over looked in the description. What was not a oversite and also causing me a major amount of grief is that the item was described as "Clean Titled" to which the paper work showed up with lean papers and no Title??? I wont go into detail as to the California DMV nightmare that is to follow but lets just say that they again are selling junk with some lipstick slapped on it and not advertising these items as they are ...Do yourself a favor and take a look at the rest of the feedback.....You have been warned read more

Don't buy from these people. They don't disclose the damages and they don't stand behind the things not listed after you have paid them. I drove the vehicle I purchased 4 miles and found out the engine was blown. Called them hoping to come to some sort of middle ground and they told me, "Too bad, it's an auction site." ***READ BEFORE BIDDING*** They intentionally do not disclose all damages!! Expect WAY more problems and damages than what is listed. I bought 2 trucks and a motorcycle (out of state) so I rely on pictures and descriptions. They will disclose some issues but not all and not the most important ones. In the case of the Motorcycle they failed to mention the bike was laid down which absolutely kills any value and resale of a motorcycle. One truck was damaged all over, another has carpet ripped out, seat torn, undercarriage totally rusted, both trucks absolutely reek of cigarettes. This is stuff you just can't miss, and they know they are leaving out to get higher bids. If you're out of state and can't view it before the auction, TRUST ME, don't bother bidding. read more

The Crankyape website crashed with minutes to go on an item I was bidding on leaving me in the dark and apparently not recognizing what would have been a winning bid at the time. The seller potentially lost money and the whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

crankyape has really stepped up their game. The new management has really improved their service and overall experience. The descriptions are definitely much better and honest to the best of their ability. This means many bad things are pointed out and pictures of defects are easy to read or see. With the new management changes I have more confidence in buying from them. I have purchased RV, Boats and many motorcycles and must say most all were great buys knowing what I needed to fix. These are not normally new but I have picked up some almost new and have been very pleased. We bought units based on descriptions and pictures and picked up at several of their locations and pleasantly surprised how it was better than thought. when you bid make sure you know what's wrong and cost to fix, you can even call the locations where the store managers are very open and helpful. Today they are definitely a reliable company to deal with and always supply good post sales support. My only problem is that I buy too much but definitely check out what's available every week. They do not follow there own rules in the auction process and its the same people using the absentee bid process when there not absent. It's a inside scam to benefit certain individuals. The time will also extend past the limit and the same people win the bids each time. When I called the company to address my concerns it was clearly ignored. They claim to follow the same rules as Ebay but they do not. Companies like this need to be audited. read more

Have purchased multiple units - cars, motorhomes, trailers and 5th wheels from crankyape over a lengthy period from locations ranging from Florida to California (2 former locations). It was always "buyer beware" but descriptions were mostly accurate. Angie Mason was great at helping resolve any issues and was truly interested in doing so. Unfortunately, she is no longer there. My last purchase was a motorhome advertised as a 2005 model. The auction included pictures of the final stage manufacturer's sticker showing the unit was clearly a 2005 model year coach I bid, and won the auction. Upon receiving the title in the mail, the coach was titled as a 2004 coach. When contacting Crankyape about this obvious misrepresentation and deception, the old helpfulness and "let's find a solution" that Angie had always exuded was no where to be found. Instead, I received a generic response about how this happens all the time in the RV industry from what felt like a used car salesman. They completely missed the point about misrepresentation, etc. I contacted the government wing of the RVIA and spoke with an official there. He stated what I thought - the seller had misrepresented the model year of the coach and that the coach should have been titled as a 2005. Since banks, etc. base loan values on the year noted on the vehicle's title, this coach was clearly worth less than represented by Crankyape. I understand purchases are based on a vehicle's condition that the buyer is supposed to determine for themselves before bidding. But misrepresentation, fraudulent advertising and their "too bad" attitude are new lows for Crankyape. read more

This was a purchase made through CrankyApe.com. Part of the description for the RV we won on this online auction company, a clearinghouse for repos from lenders, stated 'there is some evidence of animals'. The bidder can reasonably expect to interpret that description as pets chewing or scratching or peeing as so many of us travel with our pets. From the moment I arrived to claim my purchase and carry out a fast walk thru I quickly noticed all the rodent droppings throughout the floor, counter tops and bedding. As I checked the bathroom immediately I notice the decimated shower hose and the pile of plastic confetti that used to be the water lines to the toilet which would be obvious to anyone as rodent damage. CrankyApe states that their Inspection includes ' We make a good faith effort to accurately describe each item'. That statement is impossible to defend as there is no way that this extensive damage could be missed or overlooked. After opening the cabinet below the kitchen sink I immediately notice the overwhelming destruction of the plumbing and droppings at which point I realize that the rodent damage would be extensive. Indeed, after a two day drive back home and a thorough inspection I found the plumbing throughout the RV as well as the propane lines and some electrical were in need of a complete overhaul at a cost of thousands of $$.The only expectation I had from CrankyApe was an honest, easy assessment stating severe rodent damage which was in plain sight. I would have then contacted the local reference CrankyApe has a listing for to inspect the unit if we were still interested in pursuing this RV. I know this is a 'buyer beware' and 'as is' sale but something of this magnitude should be exempt (Rodents, such as mice and rats, can leave droppings that can spread bacteria, contaminate food, and cause allergic reactions. Droppings can also spread diseases and viruses) and should be investigated by the Health Dept and State Attorney General. C-Ape response 'Sorry, there is nothing we will do for you'. read more

Don't waste your time and money at the Valdosta GA location! Who ever does the inspections should be retrained or relocated! I bought a 2010 Jayco Baja toy hauler and the damage they listed was 1 cable broke, and the floor was replaced in the front so the couch needed put back in. When I got the RV I could not get the roof to raise because there was 3 cables broke! the wires are all cut to the outside lights and the wires are cut the power inverter ,water heater, the furnace is missing! All the front couch section is missing, Water lines and Gas lines cut. All of this is very visible and not hidden damage. I called and left a message and emailed and left a message and did not get a response at all from Crankyape. I know this is a as-is auction but when buying on line they should give a accurate description of the item for sale. I did buy a camper and a dixi chopper from the Indiana location before this and they was exactly as described. No surprises at all from that location. Valdosta GA on the other hand is complete deception. It needs over $2000 worth of repairs. At the very least they could have done was return my messages! read more
