Let's do a little math- 5 stars for food, 2 stars for service = 3.5 stars? I think that's about right- it's a trend place (especially for El Paso), the food is decent, but the service was seriously awful. Awful enough that it'll make me rethink my decision to eat there again. Anyway- Best spinach salad I've ever had. Anywhere. Fresh crunch leaves, nice mix of onions, juicy strawberries and an awesome vinagrette. Their lemongrass coconut soup was also good. Green chili mac 'n' cheese, which is apparently their speciality was good- but really spicy. Nice selection of beers and mixed drinks. The stools in their outdoor seating area suck horribly (at their east side location). So bad that I stood up for the whole meal. Oh well. I'll go again next time my coworkers want a giant burger and I want to join and still have vegetarian options. Word to the wise- this location (west side) is TINY. A great place to come to for any meal during the day. Fun fact: the brunch menu on Sunday's is great. Their food is really good and their drinks - non alcoholic and alcoholic alike - are also really good. With that being said and the reason why I give it 4 stars instead of 5, Crave makes you pay for just about everything - including any type of drink. Outside of water and mint/cucumber flavored water, you have to pay for a refill on any other drink. This is okay for fancy drinks, but they even charge you for a refills on simple drinks such as lemonade. Other than that one complaint, I really do like Crave. The rustic look and feel of the restaurant is really cool. The service is also great and people are friendly; I haven't seen or heard a negative remark about the service at Crave. My wife and I visited this joint on one of our date nights. I must say, for a "burger joint" I was impressed. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was very modern. They have a nice patio area that was perfectly lit for the type of atmosphere they are promoting. The food was good. My wife LOVED her burger, but although mine was cooked perfectly, I just wasn't a fan (that isn't to say i wouldn't like all of their burgers, but I just didn't care for the one that I ordered.) But I would like to make note that the food was cooked and prepared VERY WELL! Also to be noted, they had a full bar as well. No complaints there. I really wanted to like this place. After a short wait we were seated at a small wobbly table. We ordered the shrimp and chorizo quesadilla, the 808 burger and the chicken and waffles. The place was really busy and we waited a long time for the quesadilla appetizer. The wait was made longer by the loud club music but watching the DJ was entertaining. He thought he was in a club! My wife and I were on a date without the kids and it was hard to talk over the music and we' re used to talking over two toddlers. The quesadilla had a really good combination of flavors but the shrimp was over cooked and the guacamole was turning brown. Our burger and chicken came out shortly after the appetizer and it looked great except for the soggy fries. The burger had a great combination of flavors too and was cooked perfectly. I wish they hadn't left the core in the pineapple slices. Fries were pretty bad, good seasoning but really soggy and oily. The chicken and waffles were pretty good and came with two really big side dishes, green chile macaroni and cheese and crispy chorizo mashed potatoes. Everybody raved about the green chile mac and cheese, but I was more impressed with the chorizo mashed potatoes that the server recommended. Overall the food was better than average. I would have given a four but three reasons prevented that. 1. Kitchen staff smoking weed outside. I care less what you do but keep that crap at home, don't bring it to work. That's just stupid. Bartender assumed we wanted to 16 oz drafts, didn't even ask or advise. $24 for two drafts. You get my drift. This is coming from a former bartender. 3. Black and blue burger has so much pepper, you can't taste the blue cheese, carmelized onions...yes, super bold flavors rendered tasteless. We also had the chicken biscuits. Delicious. Huge portion. I am at the point that I will only come here if someone is having a get together or if I am invited and the other person plans to pay. I will not give this Crave Kitchen my money. As one of the most popular places in El Paso, there's a lot to be expected from Crave. Unfortunately, lately this place has been very low on quality. Service is extremely slow, in one ocassion my party had to leave because we were waiting for 15 minutes for drinks orders and nobody came. I gave it another chance during breakfast and the server forgot when I asked for sugar, silverware and the check. I had to get everything myself. Also as a side note, the servings are ridiculously large, the pancakes are the size of one's face. I find it extremely hard to believe for someone to finish all those portions. While the food is great at Crave, the service and management are awful. You never know when a hostess or server is going to ruin your dining experience with terrible, negligent service. A server tipped herself $100 on our debit card at the Rojas location, and I can't talk to anyone about it because they won't answer the phone. We ate here twice for breakfast. Both times I ordered the Eggs Blackstone and they were delicious. The first time, as a side, I had the country potatoes, and they were well, ok. The hash browns from the second time we visited were raw and cold. I couldn't even stand the sight of them, much less the taste. My partner had the pancakes. And, yeah, I know, everything is bigger in Texas, but the size of those 3 pancakes was too much. Who in their right mind, and big stomach, can scarf down 3 thick pancakes, the size of a dinner plate each?! Too much pancake for one person. The staff seems aloof at times, forgetting to bring coffee or bringing warm water when you ask for no ice. They really need to do something about the noise level. Delicious! Stopped here with a coworker for lunch. I ordered the turkey/Brie/bacon sandwich with a side of green chile macaroni and cheese and was not disappointed. The Mac and cheese was spicy but DELICIOUS! The sandwich was pretty epic and came with a raspberry chutney and garlic aioli sauce. I barely was able to finish the sandwich and could only get through half the large bowl of Mac and cheese. It was a TON of food. My coworker ordered a veggie sandwich and a side of waffle sweet potato fries. She loved it! Apparently the sandwich doesn't have the normal veggies, but comes with yummy things like asparagus and roasted bell pepper. All sandwiches come with a choice of one side. For years, Crave has been one of my favorite places in El Paso. I am a fan of the green chile mac and cheese and all their burgers! However, this year Crave outdid itself. Recently, my husband and I decided to have a small gathering at this Crave location to celebrate our wedding. The managers and staff were amazing and made our celebration a very special and memorable one. Crave will definitely leave you craving for some more! I had the veggie sandwich and sweet potato waffle fries. The veggie sandwich was delicious. The roasted veggies were not over cooked and were still crisp. Also, they did not skimp on the goat cheese. :) The waffle fries were a show stopper. After all they are still burgers: $14.50, you can get a steak dinner for that. What ruined my experience there was they sat a girl on the table next to us. It turns out she was another employee there on her day off. The tables are so close to each other we heard all the teenie bopper, annoying conversation. Crave has always been one of my favorite restaurants. It seems that this restaurant was different as the quality was more important than the quantity, something that El Pasoans regularly choose . Tonight I ordered the Crave Chicken sandwich, with my favorite Borunda Corn. First the bread on my sandwich was old and crumbling, which made my sandwich very messy to eat. Second the thick hickory bacon on my sandwich was obviously cooked in the microwave, which was evident by tough, leather-like crewy bacon with no flavor. The chicken by itself was, well chicken...nothing special with flavor. Second the Borunda Corn was overwhelmingly drown in lime, such that you couldn't taste anything else. I love my corn with the mixture of chili, lime and cheese but this was made without the care and love of food I expect from Crave. Finally my wife's Mihi tacos were really fishy, with the average Asparagus, that was slightly under cooked and devoid of flavor. I love Crave, but paying the prices they charge for this subpar food isn't going to cut it. Hopefully just a bad night for the cook...on the other hand judging by the low number of customers at dinner time on a Saturday, maybe not. read more

This restaurant was the worst I have been to in while. First we went there because online it states they have ceviche, which they do, but it's Tuna ceviche? We placed our order for burgers, both well done. Mine came Back with raw ground meat in the middle. I sent it back for them to cook it the way I asked for it. So we waited and waited and waited. The waitress comes back and says, I removed the burger from your bill because I felt bad. I said, "oh you didn't have to do that but thank you". So we waited thinking the burger should be out any minute. Well it never did. So I asked for water, why does that come with a fly in it?????? I asked for the tab, confirmed my speculation about the burger, paid and left. My only question was, and I am still confused about, "when the hell did I ever say I did not want my burger"?? This is my second time coming here. I enjoyed it again. My visits are to El Paso are only once maybe twice per year and had to come here again to show it to my wife. I think I like the restaurant more than the food. That's not to say that the food is bad it's not. Some of the entrees did miss the mark. For example the lime corn was extremely "limey" nobody at our table liked it. We left it alone. The chicken and waffles were ok according to the wife. My friend ordered some steak sandwich but didn't like it, but his tastes buds are up for debate. Sorry Rick. The salmon, burger, beer and sweet potato fries were spot on. Crave is fine. In fact, I have found that the pros and cons balance this restaurant out such that it is literally neither good nor bad. The Rundown: 1) Crave has delicious food. Really, try anything on the menu, and you won't be disappointed. If you eat anything and everything, like me, you will always have a good meal here, which is good because..... 2) They WILL get your order wrong. It's honestly gotten to the point that its not even a surprise anymore. If you order an omelet with cheese, you'll get it without. Order one without it, and suddenly you can have all the cheese you want! Or rather... didn't want... oh well. But at least... 3) The ambiance is really cool and trendy, and the waiters and staff are all really friendly. They will chat with you and keep you entertained, which is great since... 4) The wait times are INSANE, they do not take reservations, and the service at the tables, once you are finally seated, is dog slow. I've oftentimes been left looking around the room, wondering if anyone actually works here, or if a bunch of off-duty Crave servers are hanging around after their shift ended! This place is alright if you're in an extremely laid-back, "I'm-totally-ok-with-this-brunch-taking-three-hours" kind of mood, and don't really care too much what entrée actually ends up in front of you, but if you're at all in a rush, or want something specific, pick another restaurant. P.S. Also a detractor: good freaking luck parking here. 90% of the time, the people I go with have to park over in the Village Inn parking lot next door, ignore the "Village Inn Parking Only-- You Will Be Towed" signs, and just cross their fingers that they get through brunch without a tow truck showing up for their car! read more

I have been here many times over the last couple of years and it used to be their west side was hugely better and now both of them are sub par. For breakfast (east) the place is always so cold you freeze trying to eat. They don't know how to time food so if someone orders eggs and someone orders waffles you can bet your eggs are going to be stone cold. Lunch and dinner might be three stars but they got rid of the waffle fries and that was the only real reason I continued to go. The food is a little on the pricey side -- but SO worth it. I had a burger, with sweet potato fries. GET THE SWEET POTATO FRIES!!! It comes with this special dip that is unbelievable... My waitress said it was like "Disneyland in your mouth" and she was correct. I asked for my burger to be medium rare, anticipating it being medium or done as most restaurants don't do medium rare very well. To my pleasant surprise, my burger was so perfectly cooked medium rare, and was amazingly delicious. The craft beer selection is great, and have some really unique beers to choose from. The service was amazing. My waitress Allison was so great and attentive, we never had to ask for anything. She even brought two plates for my kids who were sharing a meal without us even asking. This place was kid friendly... They have kid options that are not on the menu. My two toddlers shared the chicken and waffles and they ate all their food (which is a miracle in itself). OMG. SOOOOO GOOOOD!!! I have high expectations when I eat places. Very unique and different ideas. Great place for a date. It's small and intimate. The presentation of the food is just as appealing as it's flavor. For Supper: We started with the bacon wrapped shrimp and it was sooooo good. The bacon was crispy, the shrimp cooked perfectly, and the spicy sauce drizzled on top was delicious. I SPLIT the chicken and waffles with my Momma and it was PLENTY! The fried chicken was nice and crispy, the waffle was huge and the two things put together were the perfect balance between sweet and salty. The syrup reduction was the sauce, and came on the side. It was also the perfect consistency. We got a side of the sweet potato waffle fries and GREEN CHILE MAC AND CHEESE. When I tried the sweet potato fries + cinnamon marshmellow dipping sauce as well as the green chile mac, I was pretty sure I had died and gone to heaven. Outrageously delicious. The ambiance is very hip, yet casual. The staff is friendly. For Breakfast: Blueberry pancakes with lemon curd was over the top delicious. The plate is served with 3 HUGE plate sized pancakes. The only one with curd is the one on top. I wish they put more on there. It also comes with syrup. Momma and I split this also one morning and still took one pancake home it was so big. Again...can I mention how much I LOVE and appreciate Yelp???? While our family was on a 24-day cross country road trip, I would use Yelp frequently to find highly recommended restaurants for each city we visited. On this occasion, we were on the last leg of our trip back to home (to Phoenix) when the timing of our drive brought us through El Paso around lunch time. Given that we didn't want a chain restaurant (we had plenty of those over the course of our 23 days on the road), I came across the reviews for Crave Kitchen and Bar. And what really made me pull the trigger were the reviews mentioning "green-chile mac and cheese" and "chorizo mashed potato tots"....is your mouth drooling now too? The food did not disappoint and the wait staff was attentive and super friendly. The food was so delicious! I really didn't want to go back to work after hanging out there for 10 mins. Space can be a little tight due to how close the tables are to each other. Dinner salad finally came out after I finished the main course. Last but not least had to order a second shot of vodka for my Crave tea cocktail. Service was good. Very friendly and responsive to some of the feedback. I ordered the hog burger and the cook was not well delivered. I had to send the burger twice for s proper medium well. The sweet potato fries are not good. They were very chewy. My friend ordered the fried chicken and it was a well executed plate. Still missing some flavors to make a good southern attempt but decent. The pesto chicken burger and it was bland, the lettuce was soggy and overall the flavors weren't there. For dessert we had the brownie and the gansito. The brownie was great best dish of the night.
