    Hot cup of coffee

Enjoyed a breakfast/brunch drop in after seeing Penny's Diner for years but never having a chance to try prior. Their 50's diner feel is cool, complete with small booths and a working kitchen in clear view. Started off with a hot cup of coffee which was good. I asked for a recommendation & was told their burgers were good. Ordered the All Day Breakfast Burger (burger with cheese, bacon and a fried egg). Had the choice of hash browns or tater tots & chose the tots. I enjoyed the meal. The service was good. The meal was good and I'll definitely return to try more. The only reasons it was not a 5-star review, 1. The bacon on my burger wasn't crispy like I asked for & 2. I was never offered a coffee refill.

First time here...clean tables...50 ish ambiance I'm sooo hungry..... Here's a good way to tell if a restaurant is worth enjoying regularly....clean bathrooms!!! This place has them...on our visit.... The biscuits n gravy pretty good sausages good they're both not fresh as in made, but travelers, those staying in the Motel next door and locals should Nosh delightfully!! .things to consider:. Ease of shipments of food stuffs n condiments... available employees....2 doesn't cut it!!! Management is a consuming factor...how it's managed!!! Making sure standard items are Always on hand...only rye bread available on our visit.. unacceptable!!! This is a Managerial problem....uh oh...3 person showed at 10:45.... Having all ducks in a row is essential, for great reviews...so Management needs to aware of what's happening. Those things said...I'm looking forward to our next visit!!! Our waitress was great...handling various things in the diner...multi-tasking is great....cross training is great...but game needs work... Management end!!! Cook was great..food delish....see y'all again

Cheese burger and fries were super and very hot.

Nice little diner. Great prices, quality and value. The diner is super clean and the staff is very friendly. We had the cheeseburger and pattymelt. I definitely recommend.

Really great old fashioned burgers, top service, old school vibe with great old school breakfast and dinner

I was ecstatic upon my arrival here, leaning my eBikeKit-assisted CruzBike against the outside wall, having accomplished far more distance AND a steep ascent. I looked across the flood plain to the Franklin Mountains, seeing a silver stripe zig-zagging on it--it was TransMountain/Loop 375, the very same road I had just been cycling, successfully ascending the mile(1.6kms)-high pass. Entering, I requested my standard drink (besides ice water in my water bottle): vanilla milkshake. I enjoyed the special, a bulky burrito, size increased by extra bacon. P Another outstanding aspect of this always excellent eatery is the availability of free WiFi. This superb eatery certainly has my enthusiastic "Wheel of Approval!"

This is definitely out of the way, but if you're passing a somewhat nearby (shooting out in the desert, taking back roads to Las Cruces, or maybe heading out this way to make it to that one lonesome bridge to Mexico), it's not a bad stop and it is kind of a cool space. Penny's is located in the parking lot of a hotel and it looks like they might be owned by the hotel as well. It's a 24 hour diner and it is through and through a diner. There's nothing fancy about the food and the pricing is a little high, but I kind of get why. It's not astronomical, just like $8-ish for a burger sans sides. We were welcomed by the sole cook when we entered and Penny's kept a steady flow of patrons while we were there. I ordered the Mushroom and Swiss Burger and a shareable portion of the chili cheese fries. The chili cheese fries are a HELL YES! There just exactly what I want when I ordered chili cheese... Texas chili with nacho cheese... yaaaaassss! My burger wasn't great. They use a press to make the burgers and mine was pretty dry because of it... with this knowledge I think I'll just stick to normal burgers in the future that I can load up with mayo, ketchup, and mustard. I really just liked how clean the design is at Penny's. It feels like you've walked into a real deal 50's diner in its prime! Such a cool step back in time! Penny's can probably seat around 20-30 (thirty is being generous) people, but you can place orders to go and it seemed like the foot traffic moved quickly.

This is a diner of yesteryears feel. You can sit right by the short order cook and watch them prep and plan your meal right in front of you. It will make you wish you had that kind of stove and cooktop your own kitchen. The event is good so you don't come out smelling like food It is clean and not so busy. We went for breakfast and I feel like we really should've went for lunch. It's an open 24 hour option Right as you're about to cross over the Santa Teresa port of entry into Mexico. Service was fine The only disappointment was I felt my potato should be fresh and not frozen cooked crunchier. If you're craving a Sundae or a hamburger and you're in the area it's a definite option

Terribly disappointed today. I really enjoy coming out here even though it's a 30 mile round trip. There's a certain thrill going back in time to a 50s diner serving your favorite comfort food breakfast. All of our previous treks here were good and my earlier reviews reflect that. So what's happened. For one thing the Oak Hill Inn next door has become a Travelodge. That shouldn't affect the diner but who knows. We ordered our usuals: my wife got her Ranch breakfast (once known as the Open Range breakfast of chicken fried steak and eggs while I got the Deluxe biscuits and gravy. Whatever makes them "deluxe" is a complete mystery. The menu refers to a 'plate size' Cinnamon roll- a Penny's original". My wife added that to her order to be shared with me. Her plate arrived first: the soft scrambled eggs looked nice and fluffy but the steak appeared much smaller than I remember and looked burnt and shriveled. But the thick cream gravy in top was enticing. My biscuits were hardtack and gravy. The gravy was superb but I could have used a steak knife to cut the biscuit. The touted 'pennys original" cinammon roll was just as hard, and nowhere near plate size . If that's the best they can do they should stop at the supermarket and pickup a tube of Pillsbury rolls. All around, it was the gravy that saved the meal. Now our policy is never make a knee jerk decision so we will make one more trip out here one day soon. We hope for a return to the first experiences we had. If so we will keep coming back. But if our next experience is like this one, bye bye Pennys.

Ate there yesterday for the first time after being recommended by a few people. The staff was super courteous and the place is very clean. The food is fresh and delicious. This will be our new go to place for breakfast

Good food, good service, and an easy bike ride from Dona Ana airport. The chile pork burrito was great, good coffee and generous servings.

It came with seasoned fries which were FANTASTIC as well. My wife had the regular burger, she's picky but she definitely loved the burger. She's more of a regular fries person, being picky but she said they're okay, which is a good sign! My kids never eat out but my one order of sliders was finished super quick, the other is a baby but she eating too. She doesn't eat my burgers at home so I need whatever recipe they have! My son ate his nuggets and they all love the fries. The only thing I have that could be an improvement would be making the limeade a bit less tart otherwise we really enjoyed everything! Especially their customer service The restaurant was great itself as well, the music was good, they have 2 tvs for entertainment as well. I would absolutely recommend this place to people! When I'm on this side of town I'll definitely come back

Plus we love supporting local businesses. Immediately we were greeted and the woman answered our questions. We prefer the Green chili burger and the smash burger with an appetizer of onion rings. They brought everyone out at once- it was hot, gooey, juicy and amazing. The onion rings had the perfect crunch and were delicious. The green chili burger had a slight spice but not hot, just flavorful. I ordered the smash burger and the amount of meat on that burger was astounding. While the store front itself is a bit bare and could use some sprucing up to make it more fun or stand out, it was by far the cleanest restaurant I have ever stepped foot in. This place is wiped down after every guest very well (not just a quick wipe down but very clean) even the bathroom was extremely clean. Over all great food, quick service, clean place to eat. Would recommend but mostly for the burgers, everything else is just icing on the cake.

We had to point out we hadn't had our order taken even with people behind us walking around us to the register. All of the staff looked stunned when we said something. The bread was stale. First, it took…read moreforever just to place my order because two employees were busy talking behind the counter while people were waiting in line. When they finally helped me, I clearly said I wanted turkey and mayo on bread, but they kept repeating "#7 Mike's Way" instead of simply listening to what I was asking for. What really bothered me was seeing the sandwiches being placed on receipt paper instead of the counter or cutting boards. That seemed extremely unsanitary, especially considering receipt paper contains BPA and shouldn't be in direct contact with food. Then at checkout, I mentioned they had run out of pink lemonade and asked if I could just grab a Gatorade instead after already spending $45 on three sandwiches. The cashier looked at the other employee, they stared at each other awkwardly, and one of them said, "I'm not doing it." The other finally rolled her eyes and said, "Just give it to her." The whole experience felt unprofessional and uncomfortable, like customers were inconveniencing the staff just by being there. This location seriously needs higher standards when it comes to customer service and food handling.
