I would give zero stars if possible, I ordered the cookies and cream cake to go on July 15, 2024 and I got about two bites in before I realized that I was eating a small piece of plastic that was in my dessert. It was super sharp and hard which is how I noticed, then I saw another small but bigger piece on top that was jagged. Absolutely unacceptable, I was lucky that I caught it before any damage could be done, but it's safe to say that I will never be eating Crave again and I don't recommend that anyone else do for their own safety! Disappointed. Plant based menu is not plant based. Most of this menu has main ingredients of cheese. Annoying that if you do want to make some of the dishes from their stated "plant based" menu, you have to pay extra to "sub" for vegan option. For example, the crave burger is an impossible burger for $20, but to make it vegan you pay $26. Ambiance beautiful and relaxed. Clean restaurant. Ok service. The service here really sucks, especially at the bar. There is a female bartender here, long dark hair. Very inattentive. Does not check on the guests very often. This female bartender pays more attention to guests who tell jokes than those that are waiting to place a drink or food order. Had dinner there yesterday. The atmosphere is great. The drinks, truffle fries, and servers were very good. My chopped salad was way overpriced for what is was and some of the lettuce was wilted. My companion's calamari made her feel nauseous and we noticed that one of the lemon slices had mold on it. I told the server that her tip won't be affected, but pointed out the problems. She was very sweet and offered the kitchen to make new dishes, but we just wanted to leave. I'm not sure why I took the leftover salad home. I think I just felt so guilty for the expensive salad. We have dined at numerous Craves though out Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota and were very excited to see them finally come to Rochester. Although they have a few newbie wrinkles to work out we were very happy with the service and most of the food. In passing, we made a comment to our server while paying the bill that some of the food could have been prepared better. It was very good, but we ventured off our usual fare and we need to be aware of how the dish is prepared (fried and breaded chicken versus grilled chicken). She mentioned it to manager on duty that comped one of our diners without asking. Lobster appetizer was outstanding as was the service and atmosphere. We will return over and over again. read more

Stopped here this past weekend to have brunch. The atmosphere was great, the food was good, and because downtown Rochester isn't terribly busy on weekends it was quiet. We each ordered something different. The eggs Benedict, avocado and egg sandwich, and the Crave american breakfast. The cheesy hash browns are delicious, the bacon was good I might get it crispier next time for my preference, and they had hot sauce for my eggs which is always a must for me. We were very disappointed at our 8 pm New Year's Eve dinner 12/31/2023. The Ambiance sucked! Kitchen closed at 9 and 8:45 the commotion started. Atmosphere was very nice. I had the crab cake appetizer with a wedge salad. Salad was very good. Can't say the same for crab cakes. 1 on a scale of 1-10. At first I thought I maybe just had a bad bite, but after a few more bites I decided it wasn't going to get better. Friends tried it and said they thought the fish was bad. Husband had the baked Mac and cheese which was supposed to have bacon and cavatappi, topped with bread crumbs and more bacon. It didn't looked baked nor were there bread crumbs. Last night, we had friends from out of town and made reservations at Carve. My experience at crave in Minneapolis was always good, however, everyone in our group had terrible experience last night in Rochester. My filet mignon which is supposed to be the most tender cut, was so bad I left half it on the plate. The asparagus was served with wooden stem,, unable to eat.. my husband had salmon which tasted terrible, obviously not fresh, and potatoes not cooked. We have dined at crave a couple times and we are all about the food so I will discuss briefly the setting and the service. No doubt one of the finest service teams that I have run into lately! Patrons are valued and you will feel very well cared for. I thought the bar made exceptional drinks. This time of year this setting is all about the patio which provided a picture. You may enjoy a one person band or disc jockey playing lit music. If you don't enjoy listening to alternative tunes I recommend you sit farther away as it may tend to be annoying. I have been A patron of the patio and the dining room both for lunch and dinner. You may take an elevator from the first floor to the restaurant or take the stairway. The entrance is so unassuming you may have trouble finding it until you are right in front of it. Let's talk food because that's what it's all about. What should you expect? You should expect a fusion menu and not have any expectations of what the dish will taste like because the chef puts their own ideas into play and you may be surprised. Some surprises are good and stimulating. A good example is the Suno Mono starter salad. Modest Lee priced at six dollars, you will get a bowl of very crisp beat spirals, carrot spirals, P shoots, cucumber and a light vinegar dressing. I am old school I love a very gentle yummy cinnamon no salad, I could not eat all these vegetable spirals and I think frankly they should just go away. And the beet juice ruined the rice wine vinegar taste and that is fusion you may love it or you may not. Next in point, the Nigiri sushi. If you're a purist, and you expect Japanese cuisine, you need to switch your expectations and open your mind to a fusion experience. You will not receive what you anticipate. My tuna nigiri arrived partially cooked and maybe even smoked. No. Cannot do that. So be adventuresome but also be aware order carefully and ask questions about the preparation. read more

I had the keto ahi tuna poke that had twice as much tuna I was expecting!! My group had the chicken stir fry and tenderloin sliders that were all amazing! The reason for my lack of 5 stars is that we were never informed there would be a 3.5% surcharge (pre-tax). I called today to inquire and was told it's for an Employee Benefits Fund. That way the restaurant can tap into this fund if anything happens to an employee. I attended a birthday party where everyone got the buffet so I did too. the menu prices were a little high but not terrible. I did not see the buffet prices listed anywhere. the buffet consisted of yogurt with granola and fruit, an egg bake, cheesy hashbrowns, bacon (which appeared and tasted as if they boiled it to cook it),French toast, salad, salmon, mashed potatoes and gravy and prime rib. the only things I enjoyed was the salad and prime rib. a couple of us at the table were curious what our bills would be. MY BILL WAS $80!!! they charge you $45 for the buffet and $10 for my drink! then a $6 "service fee" for God knows what, felt free to add 20% gratuity which was $20 and then after adding all the extras figured the tax which was $11. They literally taxed my tip. The place is a JOKE. I've honestly never in my life felt so upset leaving a restraunt. When it was all said and done I paid $92 for a buffet with like 8 things on it. The food was terrible- -Flat bread tasted like it was left out all day- we had to reheat it up. I was cold. -Sushi did not taste like sushi and was not rolled correctly. It was cold, tasted like something you would get from the grocery store, and tasted again like they had made days before. Being a huge sushi lover, I could not stomach eating this. I ended up throwing away. Nothing tasted fresh and we felt like this was way overpriced for the quality of the food we got. We went to Crave on Valentine's day 2/14/2024 and ordered the Valentine's day menu of ~$140. It was not worth it. The scallop Hors D'oeuvre was just so so. Then for the appetizers we ordered the Oysters and Beef Nigiri. The Beef Nigiri again was not impressive and had no flavor and the oysters had a weird combination of a vinaigrette with strawberries. It was not good to say the least. For the entre, we had the rack of lamb (that was hard to cut and was very tiny) and the grilled salmon &Shrimp Duo. The salmon was on top of a baby food like mashed sweet potatoes. There was supposed to be a lemon butter sauce as well but you could hardly taste the lemon. And the shrimp was in a artichoke caponata but tasted like a candied potpourri shrimp. Again absolutely terrible. I do not know who decided these combination of flavors but it was bad. We looked around the room and watched others who order the same meal and watched as their faces cringed with each bite. Lastly, we ordered the Chocolate & Cherry Cheesecake Duo. It was just a regular cheescake... nothing special and many people besides us did not eat the cherries as they were disgusting. It was terrible lying to the waitress when she came by every so often when she asked how is everything tasting. I don't know what to do in that situation when over and over, its just not good. Crave is usually good and that's why we chose to go there for Valentine's day which is also our anniversary but we were so not impressed. We kept talking about leaving to get something that is actually edible. I hope they stop serving this V-day menu soon.
