Two young men came yesterday for what I thought was a breaker issue. It kept tripping immediately after my fountain pump was re-started/plugged in. They were here no more than 20-30 mins and did the following: Removed breaker panel from garage wall. Tested fountain on another breaker and tested the suspected offending breaker & told me it was not the breaker but the pump or pump cord causing the problem. Re-connected a cut wire in my back yard for lighting. Put breaker box panel back on wall (4 screws). Charge: $365. I still have to have fountain pump repaired, which is not their problem....but NOT a fair charge. read more

I recently hired Cravens after moving into a new home and Big Drew, Chris and their team came out and installed a 120 inch ceiling fan over 25 feet high, replaced a dated ceiling fan, installed a new ceiling fan where there previously wasn't one and installed electricity for my wine fridge. They were hands down the best!! Not only were they fast, friendly and reliable but the did extraordinary work at a fair and decent price. In addition, not only did they thank my husband for his service they instantly gave us a military discount. They were very informative, respectful and gave up to the minute updates anytime I asked. What out. This company charged me $5000 for a service panel for a small 950 sq foot house. Beware. I think its because I was out of state. Also they cut into my soffit so that there was a gap around the riser so that pests could get in. It was a neighbor and another electrician friend that had to point these out to me. For the price gouge they could at least done an honest job. read more

don't waste your hard earned money on this company folks. These guys charged us over $350 to troubleshoot a problem for us. I told the tech what I thought was the problem and he just replaced a piece. I had the same issue a week later and found the issue was at the switch. They never troubleshot anything and still charged me that ridiculous amount of money. I'll never use this company again. read more

If I could, I would leave 6 stars. I had an electrical problem in my guest room earlier this year and had another company come in to fix the problem. And then it happened again, both times while guests were visiting from out of town. I didn't want to go back to the original company as they obviously didn't do the job correctly. I then found Cravens Electric from Angie's List and their response time was incredible. I arranged for service the following day and they called twice to update me on the technicians arrival. My technician was Oscar and he was fantastic! Not only did he explain everything to me giving me options he was incredibly respectful of my home and left his work area neat as a pin. Well to make a long story short, the city of Houston is going around and making all multi-units up to code. Which is a good thing. So when it was our turn (my mom owns a small multi-unit) we needed to be up to code, that was a different story. So of course, trying to be a good daughter, I was looking for a master electrician that could do the work that the city was requiring for it to pass inspection. The city can be a bit picky to say the least. After looking and calling around I found Cravens Electric. They were a God sent. Spoke with Barbara (multiple times) set an appointment to meet with Justin at the apartments and we went through everything that needed to be done. A day later, they sent me a contract with a price, and a payment schedule. Great, because we had a deadline to meet. The next week, Justin and his crew were out there at 7am sharp, working. Justin has really great communication skills and in a job this big, that was a plus. Especially dealing with the city, it can get quite complicated. Justin even went out of his way to meet me at the permitting center to drop off the permit. That way really nice of him. The job got done in less 48 hrs, and we are still waiting for the inspectors. Cravens Electric guarantees their work. Everyone was very professional and cleaned up after they finished and did a walk through to make sure everything was done. In the future, if I need an electrician, no matter how big or small of a job in Houston, I will definitely call Cravens. read more

Cravens Electric just finished installing our new ceiling fan. We have cathedral ceilings in my home and the wiring in our fan was severed previously. The fan is extremely high up and located at the bottom of a 6 foot down-rod so this was no easy task. Oscar came to assess the situation and notified me that the fan I had purchased required a 3/4 inch down-rod and the previous fan used a 1/2 inch. I called to both Lowe's and Home Depot and neither had 6 foot down-rods in the size I required. I let Oscar know and he had his coworker Jacob drive to RICHMOND (!!! We live in Pearland) to grab the rod from a light fixture store. I was truly blown away with the level of professionalism and helpfulness they displayed today. They were kind and courteous even sweeping and vacuuming my floor after they finished. The ceiling fan looks amazing and they explained to me how they wired it so that the fan and light would be operable using separate switches which is something really convenient that our previous fan didn't do. After talking with five electricians who either never showed up for our appointments or said they could not figure my wiring out, I was nervous about paying the cost to have someone come out, in case they couldn't get the job done. I asked if I could bring my gate opener to Cravens Electric, so they could take a look. Justin allowed me to come first thing in the morning, and said if he couldn't do anything, he wouldn't charge me the consultation fee. He wired my machine in just ten minutes (the same machine others couldn't figure out), gave me the next steps as to how the machine should be hooked up properly, and instructions on where to go and what to buy so the rest of the process wasn't expensive. Cravens' price was great, and I am so happy to finally have that part of my project finished. I will use Cravens Electric again and recommend them to anyone I know who needs electrical work. I called Cravens Electric because I loss electrical power upstairs in one room and a hallway. After troubleshooting a few plugs and checking the fuse box, the serviceman told me all the electrical wiring in the room was flawed and the electrical box needed to be replaced. He could fix the problem for $1400.00; it would be day's work if he didn't run into other problems. I asked what other problems could there possibly be but did not get a straight answer. He further stated that the work usually costed around $6,000 so $1400.00 was a great deal. With that, I told him I needed a second opinion. I called another certified electrician but did not tell him what the Cravens' serviceman said. He had my lights on in 45 minutes for a total charge of $149.00, approximately 10% of Cravens quoted cost. Stay away from Cravens...get a second opinion. Tricia B read more

I came across Cravens, thankfully, with great reviews so I gave them a call. Luke came out that day, assessed the problem, and quoted me the same exact work and material as the first co. did for less than half the price. Lost power upstairs to all the bedroom lights and ceiling fans and plug outlets. Not knowing whether everything else was going to shut off in the summer heat, I made calls and this company was the first one I could reach and agree to come out right away. I am still reeling from the way the service rep kept jacking up the price of what they would do. It was over 500.00 to check the wall plugs and light switches until they found one that caused the problem. The price more than doubled to over 1100.00 to replace them on a single circuit in the house. This was all upstairs; a downstairs ceiling fan/light quit working and they wanted another 240.00 to put up a metal brace box which costs no more than 20.00 anywhere. I didn't want to pay that much more after everything else and had to run out and buy a plain light fixture to put in the ceiling fan's place. The rep kept saying I had to do this or there could be a fire. It remains to be seen whether what they did will be effective. I have some other electrical issues that need attention but I'm going to look for someone with more reasonable prices to do it. read more
