Staff is rude and literally yelled at customers over the bathroom being out of order. She was yelling the entire time she walked across the restaurant and told me I was being a bitch. Cravings is a GREAT addition to Tuscaloosa. It has the best bagels you can find down south. The owner is so friendly and really makes the experience over the top. So on the way back home from eating downtown. I stopped in at Cravings and even though there was mostly beer and wine I was able to find something unique. They had crawfish boudin and New Orleans Ice Cream Company Creole Cream Cheese Ice Cream. It was quite a find and not over priced for the quality. Follow Up Yesterday I showed up on the fly and picked up a half Muffaletta from Cravings after reading they had started making them. Being from New Orleans I am very discerning about my Muffaletta. I always use the Central Grocery standard to scrutinize everyone else's attempts. Worker was incredibly rude and I will not be coming back considering I had to throw away my food immediately after opening it. The best part about Cravings is the selection of food you can't get anywhere else in town (at least at this level of quality): pastrami on rye, corned beef, muffaletta, reuben, bagels & lox, even lobster rolls and lobster mac & cheese! Add one of the most extensive beer selections in town and you have one of the best big-city-style restaurants this side of Birmingham. As on July 2019, I still get the sense that this place is trying to figure out what it wants to be. It's not as substantive, bustling, or delectable as an honest-to-god deli restaurant (like Mile End in Birmingham). It used to not have as extensive a menu as they do now, and I hope they maintain the quality sandwiches and hot dishes, even if they are a little pricey. It's a little low on charm/ambiance at the moment; sitting at one of the sidewalk tables is nice, but there's only a couple of them, and the interior still feels more like a store and less like a place to eat and drink. But the fact that you can get what you want so quick makes up for this, and that it's open so late. If it's a choice between this and fast food, it's not even close: ditch the pizza/burger/chicken and get some good food! They picked the right name for the place. I go there when I have a craving for food that you don't traditionally see around here (BBQ). Thank goodness for this place! read more

Stopped here for a late afternoon lunch. This is a delightful store/restaurant. I had the New York Pastrami and Swiss on Rye; my mother had roasted turkey with lettuce and tomato on rye. Both were excellent. The NY Pastrami transported me back to my experiences of Pastrami from a NYCity deli. Yes, It was that good! If you have read my reviews of other places here in Tuscaloosa pretending to offer NY Pastrami sandwiches; you know I have high standards as to what qualifies. Its menu is limited but its better to do a few things well, then offer a broad menu and have the dishes be mediocre. The bagels, while I didn't choose to have the sandwich on one, look like the real deal. You know genuine Jewish style bagels where the dough is boiled before baked. I'm going to have to come back just to make sure. This place has a wide selection of candies cherished as a kid from the 60s. There is also a wide selection of wines and beers from apparently everywhere for sale. Grab a six pack cartoon to mix n Match your beer selection. If it was possible, I'd give this establishment a negative rating. The fact that there is a global pandemic happening and the workers are openly not wearing masks properly and handling the food after rudely being on their phones in front of paying customers is no way to run a business. The sanitary measures are mind boggling as it is and being on your phone using the gloves you are handling food with is beyond disgusting. It's absolutely absurd that it takes over 45 minutes to toast a plain bagel with butter. Not pleased with this experience and my money will no longer be going towards supporting this poorly run business. Seriously, do better. read more

I love the novelty items that Cravings has all throughout its store such as wine ice cream and different types of frozen meat. Their wine selection in the back is decent. I also bought a pound of wild boar patties for $9 which is much less than what I would pay for in a restaurant. I wish they did more with their interior or did something with their shelves so it feels less like a warehouse that just forgot to unpack their shipments. I'm surprised that Cravings has not hosted wine or beer tastings yet. I feel like that would attract an audience, especially since Carpe Vino hosts those frequently. Based on their great selection that they have, this hopefully will be something they may do in the future. I haven't tried the pastries yet because they didn't seem as appetizing. However, there are so many things in this store that look fun to try. This place had a great craft beer selection and although the selection of fresh foods is small, so far everything has been delicious. Yesterday I had the spinach quiche, which was amazing and today I tried the caprisi salad, which was very good as well. One of the newest features that I'm most excited about is the "requests" list for craft beers. They also have some good NOLA comfort food and frequently change their menu up so there's always something to look for. This place is the bomb! It's like a mini trip to NoLa without leaving T Town. Upon walking in, the cashier asked if it was our first time. When we answered yes he gave us a full tour of everything the store had. (And boy, was it a lot!) I ordered a plain bagel with egg and cheese. For an egg and cheese bagel, this thing had flavor! I ran in here this morning to get some mints before a meeting. I thought it was going to be like the Kwik Snak that use to be around the corner from the Martha Jamison School of Dance we would go to after ballet lessons, 50 years ago. Well, this ain't your mamma's Kwik Snak. There are throwback brands of snacks, plus a variety of new, lesser-known brands from start up companies. The owner, a Brooklyn transplant, has authentic bagels brought in from NY, muffuletta bread and olive salad from NOLA, and homemade, quiche, salads and desserts. Once you get past that yumminess, you are in a world of such beer and wine variety, your head will spin! My nervana moment was to discover that he carries CAKE BREAD CHARDONAY AND CABERNET SAVIGNON.
