Saturday afternoon, my wife and I stopped by Avenue Pub on Rice Mine Road before heading to the Alabama basketball game. Avenue Pub has long been one of my favorite spots in the Tuscaloosa food scene, and this visit reminded me exactly why. This was our first visit since spring, and the biggest change we noticed was the menu. It's been expanded with more options, which is great--but let's be honest, when you already have a favorite, change doesn't stand much of a chance. I stuck with my go-to: the Chicken Club. Once again, it delivered. One of the best chicken sandwiches you'll find in Tuscaloosa lives right under this roof, crispy, flavorful, and stacked just right. No regrets. No notes. The only evidence left behind was a clean plate and a messy napkin. My wife went with the Crispy Fish Sandwich, and it was equally impressive. If these sandwiches don't reach down and tickle your tummy, nothing will. That's just science. Avenue Pub is usually buzzing wall-to-wall, but thanks to some less-than-cooperative weather, we were greeted by a lighter crowd at first. That didn't last long. As the afternoon rolled on, the place steadily filled up, always a good sign. Great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and consistently solid execution make Avenue Pub a dependable win. Expanded menu or not, I'll keep coming back, and I'll probably keep ordering that Chicken Club. Some things just don't need changing. read more

The food is good but the service leaves much to desired. On several occasions I've called in for a pick up order and was left on hold for well over 10 minutes and when I tried call back I would only get a busy signal. There is no other way of getting a to go order then calling it in read more

Beautiful location, friendly staff, and food was amazing. My burger was cooked medium and let me say the color, taste and juiciness was perfect. Fries were hot and seasoned perfectly. The chicken club was awesome as well. The bacon they used was so crispy and taste was great. read more

I normally love to eat here, but I had a horrible experience this past week. We sat outside and never got someone to serve me and my family. We ended up having to ask someone to serve us and a waiter came up to tell us our normal waiter was overwhelmed and they would find a replacement. Once we got a replacement, we ordered food and never got it. Then the manager brought it out to go expecting that we would want to pay for it, after waiting an hour for food when it wasn't even busy, we didn't want the food anymore. The manager was extremely rude and acted put out, I never expected this from Avenue Pub so I am a bit disappointed read more

The back patio is the perfect place to sit! They have a nice play area for kids and it backs up to the forest. The server was kind and attentive throughout the evening. The food was good, but not great (hence the 4 stars). It is a nice place for the family to have dinner, just don't expect anything stellar food wise! Would still recommend checking it out. read more

Great atmosphere and location. The dinner was really good (salmon), but the brunch was just decent. It doesn't help when you order Huevos Rancheros and they forget the eggs. Overall I think prices are higher than they should be and the menu is far too small. Beautiful building and back patio. read more

We ate lunch today with coworkers. I didn't snap any photos but I tried Brussel sprouts being adventurous for only the 2nd time in my life and I believe I love them. Avenue Pub looks very inviting. When I seen that they had green tomatoes with conecuh sausage and pimento cheese I had to try it. The dish was ok. The pimento was a bit spicy for my liking due to the amount of jalapeno peppers. The strawberry sauce helped a bit to balance the flavors. The service was good and atmosphere was good. read more

The food is not as yummy as downtown. My chips on the Thai Nachos were stale. Even the puffy ones! My friends sandwich was not like the same as downtown. This is the third time I've eaten there and honestly.. with the limited menu, And the food being just at par... will probably pick someplace else next time. read more

The food was great! I enjoyed the service as well, very welcoming! I came in on a Friday night, and was automatically greeted with smiles! Big fan of the original Avenue pub, figured we would try the new one in Northbank....Menu is the same as the original so figure it should be good, unfortunately I realize new places need to get the kinks out, but when its the same menu should be easy, Fries were cold, my wife's steak sub was cold and over cooked. Daughter's fries were cold, so clearly they were sitting around. The place is great outside areas, nice bar, wait staff were super friendly...need to get the kinks out ASAP. read more

Slow service and cold food. Visited one Saturday evening after being encouraged to go from a coworker. My experience left much to be desired. We went to the restaurant side not the bar. We were seated quickly, however it took a while before our server made an appearance. Even though the place was not crowded and there were a plethora of servers working. Once we ordered our food was delivered promptly but it was cold. We had the Thai chicken nachos for an appetizer and they were so cold that the cheese didn't melt. I mean the chicken was completely cold. Not room temperature, but cold. As if it had been removed from the refrigerator a while ago but not warmed up. The entree burger was good and hot and so were the shrimp. However the pub fries were cold. Not warm, just cold. And just like the nachos, the cheese wouldn't melt because there was not heat/warmth to them. I'm not sure if that's intentional but I expect certain foods to be served hot unless stated on the menu. Maybe the cook hasn't mastered the art of preparing the different foods so that it finishes at the same time so it can be served hot. Or maybe the food was already cooked and just sitting in the kitchen waiting to be plated. If I ever do return, which at this time I have no plans to do, I'll only order a burger because that's obviously the only thing that came out right. read more

I have never left a review for a restaurant until tonight. My boyfriend and I wanted to try Avenue Pub because we had heard such great things about it from friends. We got there at 6pm on a Saturday, and were told it was only going to be a 10 minute wait. We did only wait for 10 minutes to be seated, but once we ordered our food, it took an hour for us to get our two plates. We ordered water and 2 plates. No appetizers. Our waitress didn't avoid us at first, but after we had been waiting 30 minutes, we started seeing her less and less. She finally came over and told us that the kitchen was backed up, and asked what we ordered. She then came back and told us it would be 10-12 more minutes and that they were slammed. I was okay at this time, but after 15 minutes and a table of 5 who got seated 10 minutes after us got their burgers before us, I was livid. We still hadn't seen our server, and people who had gotten there after us were almost done eating. We finally saw our server bringing our food when we were getting ready to leave, and she asked if we needed it boxed up. I told her that before she was bringing our food, we were just going to leave to eat somewhere else since we hadn't received our food after an hour of waiting and had only been drinking water. She apologized, but we will never go back. We stayed for the food, and it was ok, but I don't think we should've paid the regular price for the meal. Again, I have never left a review, but this was the worst experience I have had at a restaurant. I understand that kitchens get backed up, but not coming by to update us and straight up avoiding us was not a good look. The food is very peppery and spicy. I had a stake sandwich and could not finish it because it was so hot and spicy.

Service needs drastic improvement! My roommate and I went Saturday night for dinner. Had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Sat down and 12 minutes later still had not had anyone come take care of us or even question whether or not we'd be taken care of. Servers constantly passed our table, none glanced our way.
