I loved the barria tacos today at the Scottish Highland Games. I can't wait to try more from the friendly people at Cravingz 4 Dayz.

After leaving another restaurant nearby, my party of 5 decided to try the Mexican restaurant…read morerecommendation given to us at our local hotel. We started off by viewing the menu which is a nice selection and reasonably priced. I chose the fajita salad with grilled chicken, hubby had a Burrito Grande, my brother and sister in law both had combo dinners, and my nephew chose four enchiladas. Food came out quickly and everyone enjoyed the dinner. The amazing service we received from a young waiter was exceptional - he remembered every dish without writing down an order - and was spot on. He checked on us, bringing out extra salsa quickly and efficiently. The restaurant is decorated in bright lively colors with typical Mexican decor. Overall it provided a good dining experience for all.

This place used to be great! but with the new ownership the service has gone downhill big time. My…read morewife and I went in on 4/14/2026 at 12:30 P.M. We got the menus delivered to us and that's where it ended. No Water, no chips, NOTHING! 15 minutes we waited only to watch a couple come in way behind us get served water and chips. We got up and left. By the way, they were not even busy and only one waitress. Sorry to see this place going down the tubes.

First of all, shame on Yelp's listing system for not letting me list the Instagram account of this…read morebusiness as their website. So many foodtrucks use their IG or their FB to broadcast their locations, and many don't have a traditional dub-dub-dub website. Here's the good for KotM: FB: https://www.facebook.com/kingofthemountainak/ IG: https://www.instagram.com/kingofthemountainak/ I've been trying to get to this food truck for quite some time, but have never been able to catch them. I know the owner (Travis) from the climbing community, he's probably one of the most passionate, skilled ice climbers I know! In the non-climbing world, he's been the chef at various restaurants in the area (the first one the comes to mind is Seven Glaciers in Girdwood). He largely does events now (think: weddings, festivals, private events, etc.), and that's where I was able to catch him! Detour: as someone from the South, I am triggered by the careless use of the word "BBQ" outside of The South. When someone invites me over for a "BBQ" I expect that they've been smokin' meats (mainly pig) since 4am. When I just find burgers and hot dogs...I get sad. Back on track: I caught KotM at the Mountaineering Club of Alaska's annual Summer Cookout (bless your heart MCA, for not saying BBQ). But guess what? He MADE ACTUAL BBQ! There was tons of luscious, juicy pork with all the fixin's of new and old: fruit, potato salad, quinoa, desserts, etc. There were a handful of homemade BBQ sauces in squeeze bottles. The whole thing was perfect. Thank you MCA for setting my expectations low, and thank you KotM for blowing them outta the water!

Stopped by Sweet Gypsy and this is such a good little find, just know going in that it's takeout…read moreonly, no indoor seating. They're known for their gourmet cheesecakes (with rotating flavors), but they also have a full menu with salads, paninis, and other items that change up, which I love because it gives you a reason to keep coming back. I got the ABBA panini and it was so good, apples, bacon jam, brie, and arugula, and everything just worked together really well. Also a solid portion size, which I always appreciate. Of course I had to try a cheesecake too, and went with the caramel apple. I was actually surprised (in a good way) that it had thinly sliced apples baked right into it, which added such a good texture and made it feel a little more unique than your typical cheesecake. Service was great, super friendly and quick, and everything felt really well done. Definitely a spot I'd go back to, especially to try whatever cheesecake flavor they have next.

Time and time again I keep coming back for more amazing food at Sweet Gypsy. The bacon Mac and cheese appetizers are my go-to starter and I love trying all the different paninis. Sweet Gypsy chefs are outstanding and make great vegetarian, vegan, gluten free options. There are great mocktails and alcohol options for all folks. Wonderful service and recommendations, along with a beautiful dining space make this a 5/5 dining experience!
