This is a small Restaurant that is located also in a very small strip mall across from the Wasilla Walmart. It is worth finding and enjoying great Mexican cuisine. The service is fast and friendly. Table service and carryout/delivery is available with limited parking. Place your order at the front counter or pick up the menu. While waiting for your order get your self service drinks and visit the condiment bar. Select your choice of excellent homemade salsas and other add-ons for your meal. The order will be delivered to your table promptly. I have had several selections from the menu all all have been well prepared, seasoned and authentic tasting. Having visited MX many times and eaten in hundreds of Mexican Restaurants in this country and foreign countries I believe that the food is as close to authentic Mexican food you get anywhere. Excited to have another taqueria open up in Alaska--this time in the valley! @taquerialosmagueyes opened up about 4 months ago & I made a trip to the matsu to check them out . The location is easy to access right off the Parks Highway. The restaurant was clean & nicely decorated. It doesn't have a huge dining area, but enough tables to accommodate dine in customers if that's what you prefer. Service was friendly, quick & helpful! I decided to order two different type of tacos lengua & their special which was quesabirria. Both of these came as meals with rice & beans, but because I wanted to try two different types of tacos I decided to order ala carte. I also ordered a horchata. The portion sizes were very generous. They did not skimp on the meat in either taco & the lengua was cut into huge chunks. Everything was very flavorful & tender. I was also given a complimentary basket of chips while I waited for my tacos & they had a lovely salsa bar with several varieties of condiments. The horchata was excellent & not watered down at all I received a huge schooner of it & I'm excited to try their other aqua fresca options. The prices were reasonable for the portions, and service was also excellent. I will definitely be returning to try more of their menu. Recently they had tacos de tripa & tacos de cabeza (beef cheek) on special. I love Mexican restaurants that aren't afraid to serve these delicacies that aren't as popular as what we see usually served at Mexican American restaurants. A fairly New Mexican restaurant in Wasilla across from Walmart offers yet more options to the Valley. This place offers super friendly and fast service! The seating is small so take that into considerations during the busier hours of the day but the food is quite good. I enjoyed the carne asada, a well seasoned tender steak with tortillas rice and beans. Though slightly over cooked it was still flavorful and tender. The salsa bar was clean (important to me) fresh and all the normal options. The Fried Ice Cream was delicious and absolutely HUGE. This desert could feed a family of 3 or 4. Hi! Check this Real Review out and be informed! This place was a decent lil Mexican food type joint. Very small seating area so for large parties could be a problem. I think many do takeout, though there are a few small tables to sit at. We ordered the appetizer Camerone Aguachile' it was Very Good! Totally recommend that. It is a shrimp dish that is cured by the sour sweet acids of lime and other items. The sauce is amazing to try! We also ordered the Carne Asada Torta- A bomb Mexican Sammich! I would have preferred that the carne had more seasoning to it though (I Like a lotta Flavor lol) Again - if you've never had it - Go ahead and try it. They use a special bread that is soft and not incredibly filling or overpowering of the sammiches ingredients! We also had the shredded beef enchiladas. They were a decent size and full of flavor. We also had the shredded beef Chimichanga that was perfectly fried! Can't go wrong there. We also had Horchatas which they made fresh. They were also tasty! Ok, now for some Bad. Upon ordering our food (well over $100 spent), we were told that we can get 1 Free plate of chips. After that we were told we would have to pay for more chips! These were to snack on while we waited for our food. We have never had to pay for 'chips' at any restaraunt before, and were really turned off by this potential charge. $100 for dinner and 3 of the 4 items were wrong. That alone should tell you how this went. We ordered from El Magey Taqueria in Wasilla through Uber Eats and waited over 90 minutes for the food, only for the order to show up badly executed and largely incorrect. A Mexican restaurant not knowing the difference between flan and tres leches is already a red flag, but it got worse from there. The alambres platter was completely off base. It should have come as an actual alambre with queso fundido, but instead it arrived as a pile of shredded, low-quality beef with cold rice and refried beans topped with what looked like cheap melted cheddar. It was bland, poorly put together, and not even close to what was ordered. The ceviche was the one bright spot and actually tasted good, but it wasn't enough to salvage the rest of the meal. What makes this worse is that I called ahead because I understood it might be a busy night. I specifically gave them the chance to be honest and told them I was happy to cancel if they couldn't realistically handle the order. They assured me they had it under control. Clearly, they did not. To top it off, when I called afterward to address how badly the order was messed up, they hung up rather than deal with the feedback. Bad food is one thing. Bad service, wrong orders, a 90+ minute wait, and then hanging up on a customer is another. I would strongly discourage anyone from ordering from this restaurant, especially through Uber Eats. This was an expensive, frustrating, and thoroughly disappointing experience. read more

Definite favorite taco place in Alaska. We stopped for pickup while driving through and the street tacos were so good we ate them in the parking lot and went back in for more! We just had a rather expensive lunch at what is advertised as a taqueria. The food style was authentic to Northern Mexico but both my wife and I felt it was bland. It was well prepared but everything lacked salt. I tried almost everything on the salsa bar and even their hotter salsa was very mild in my opinion, and the green tomatillo salsa seemed to be nothing but tomatillos without any Serrano or Jalapeño chiles for some kick. The lengua in my taco was perfectly cooked but again it needed salt. We decided to try desserts and the tres leches cake was ok but almost $12, and the flan was covered with dried sweet corn kernels, which I had never seen before. We were there for close to an hour, at straight up lunchtime, and we were the only people there for the entire time. I will give them a while to work the bugs out of the system and I will try them again read more

As a gal that grew up in San Diego and had a family home in Puerto Penasco, Mexico I always crave a taste of home. This little spot was absolutely delicious, their beans were perfect, their variety of salsas were superb and I highly recommend any of their protein choices on the blue corn tortillas!!! My favorite dish so far is their La Lengue tacos !! They are truly tender, full of flavor and satisfy that true taste of Mexico. The service was great! The young man Fione (Michael ) was a wonderful host and it was fun speaking Spanish with him! The only disappointment was the hard shell, it was not authentic, the taco would be so much better if it was a tortilla fried in the restaurant. The taco was still good with great flavor but definitely would have been elevated with a better hard shell. Will be going back soon to try the Alaska Ceviche and the Carne Asada street tacos. read more
