The restaurant is beautifully renovated. Lots of seating and natural light. There is also the Mamba rewards app to earn points. They've also expanded their menu. I visited 8/19/26 @ 5pm so it was no longer crawfish season but it was HH. They have Happy Hour Monday - Friday, 3-7pm. From the HH menu, I ordered: - Crawfish beignets ($7 for 2) - Wings fish sauce ($5 for 3) - Wings garlic Parmesan ($5 for 3) The beignets were okay; probably wouldn't order again. The wings were very good. I requested for all flats and wasn't told of the $0.75 x2 up charge until the check arrived. I would definitely order the garlic parm wings again, extra crispy. Skip the fish sauce wings. I always enjoy the Cajun fried rice ($12.99). I should probably just stick to ordering the side of it instead of the large order unless you have a large party. Pho Gau ($13; +$2 for fresh rice noodle) was good. I enjoyed the broth. Would skip the fresh noodle and try a different meat in the future. The fatty brisket was kinda tough. My friend ordered the beer battered cod fish tacos ($14.99). Comes with 2 tacos and choice of side; he chose the fried rice. I didn't try the fish tacos and didn't hear him comment about it. Hadn't been back since last season, and my has this place changed. The interior is completely different now and they actually have it built out now, and beautifully done. Whereas before it was more like a popup spot in the middle of the open floor in Hong Kong City Mall, now it is a fully decked out bar and restaurant with plenty of social media worthy picture opportunities at every corner. The food is still good (and still salty), and the crawfish were a good size and each bite takes you straight to Flavortown. There is plenty of seating now and even a nice structure outside to enjoy your meal overlooking the legendary waters outside Ocean Palace, if you are so inclined. First time coming since the new renovations. I love the liveliness that it brings. The wall art and decorations. Also, really enjoyed having sports playing on the TVs gives it more of a sports bar feel. The food remains the same good quality. Best crawfish in Houston by far. I always get the signature flavor which is the blend. Don't bother getting the individual seasonings because the Signature is AMAZING! The Viet Cajun that is only special to the Bellaire location is not good. I had friends try that and when they compared it to the signature everyone loved the signature way more. Service is quick and efficient. They are constantly checking in on you and going out of their way to make sure you're enjoying your food. Crawfish Cafe lived up to the hype. I have heard about it over the years but never went to try, now I know I will have to come back. The boils are timed to perfection, the shrimp was crisp and the crawfish tender. What really made this spot hit was the seasoning! It seeps into the food and the garlic is so good. I tried the garlic and thai basil, what a unique combo. I have not had thai basil boils before and it was a HITTT! We had a couple of servers taking care of us, it felt a little like we were a forgotten sheep but they communicated clearly to us and were very friendly. The restaurant can get busy but that makes the food taste better in a way, there is a lively buzz to the place. I went on a Saturday evening at 6. But we didn't get seated till after 7. It was worth the hour wait though. Everything I had there was very good. From the oyster sampler to the crawfish beignets, micheladas and their special seasoned crawfish. I definitely recommend their house special blend signature. And I would get the reg chargrilled and the viet style grilled oysters again. They were great. It was a full house and it was full but not stupid crowded which was nice. I love their space after the remodel. Huge cafe with plenty of seating! They have a full bar. We were immediately seated at 6 PM on a Tuesday evening. Great service from Anh! They even have robots delivering food to the tables! On 4/7 - the live crawfish were good sizes, mainly large at $9.99/lb. We got the lemon pepper, medium spice level. It arrived in 15 minutes. It was so flavorful, so good! We found out later that the Viet Cajun flavor is available only at this location so we will be back to try. The combination pho from Pho Prime was surprisingly really good, plenty of meat and noodles were cooked perfect. The boudin eggrolls were also good! Nut allergy friendly: I had no issues with anything here! Parking: Plenty in the big Hong Kong mall lot. We came with a group of 8 and had about a 10 minute wait on a Monday at 7PM. Time to Order: ~15 minutes for the Garlic Noodles, ~20 minutes for appetizers like wings and beignets, ~40 minutes for crawfish I shared a #1 combo with one other person. I would add another pound of crawfish ($11/lb) if you have any appetite. The amount of shrimp, corn, and potato is appropriate (maybe double potato or corn if you especially like that). I also had one beignet and a chicken wing as part of the shared group order. Crawfish Beignet (5/5): Wow, how unique is this. Incredibly rich and flavorful with an excellent crispy bite. Definitely would order again, not sure if I could handle more than 1-2 myself. Wings (3.5/5): Overall surprisingly good and decent valued wings. Crawfish (4.5/5): A solid mix of larger crawfish (big enough to even get some meat from the claws) and smaller ones, and we got the Viet Cajun style and it was delicious. The spice really mixed in well with the corn. Clams (which one person at my table ordered separately) really pick up the spice. I got to try the Extra Spicy and would definitely get that next time. Their crawfish is always cooked perfectly and my favorite flavor to get is their signature. We had Kendall as our server, and she was so quick and attentive despite how busy it was. Crawfish Cafe is one of the OG's in Houston. They recently remodeled and teamed up with a Pho Spot and I really like how they decorated interior. Much more seating and they even added outdoor seating as well now. For apps, we ordered the Crawfish Beignets (inside of crispy pocket was filled with a creamy etouffee filling and was pretty flavorful, included 3 pieces), Charreboiled Oysters (really reminded me of Dragos in NOLA, good size and liked the charr on them), Fish Sauce Wings (crispy and flavorful) and Cajun Fries (also crispy). Parking is honestly a headache since the lot is shared with a bunch of other busy spots, so it can take a while to even find a space. Food-wise, it's a bit hit or miss. The crawfish seasoning hasn't been consistent. I ordered "spicy" last week and it barely had any spice, my friend who can't handle spice even said it wasn't spicy. I got one of the house blend sauces, spicy level & it was amazing & so garlic-y ! I love viet crawfish bc of that! I've come to this location twice already, and the experiences were completely different. First visit: I was seated quickly, and my order was taken right away. We were greeted with a great introduction to the menu by a lovely lady who was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. She regularly checked on not only our table but the surrounding tables as well. The service was excellent. The Lychee Lemonade was good, but it tasted more like a thick lychee juice with just a splash of lemonade. I'd give it a 7/10. The crawfish was absolutely insane in the best way possible. They were a great size, cooked perfectly, and the sauces were divine. Everything came out hot, fresh, and fast. The bánh mì was one of the best I've had in the city. I've tried plenty around the Alief area, but this one stood out. The bread was perfectly crispy, the vegetables were incredibly fresh, and the pickled veggies had the perfect balance of vinegar and flavor. Second visit (Monday): Unfortunately, this experience was much different. I was seated around 6:30 PM but wasn't acknowledged for quite a while. After finally placing my order, I didn't receive my food until 7:40 PM. At one point, I had to get up and ask someone to find my server because I wanted to order a bánh mì to go. Even after that, there was another long wait. I noticed my server standing in the corner of the restaurant watching the World Cup instead of checking on his tables. When I finally asked about my to-go sandwich, he immediately ran to the back to grab it, which made it seem like it had been sitting there the whole time. My server never brought our food out himself, we didn't get our waters or the extra plate or lemons we ordered (when the drinks were ordered). We were also missing an egg with our order, although that was corrected on the bill. The food is still excellent, and I'll definitely be back because the quality is worth it. Hopefully next time, I'll have a better service experience. Safe to say I'll be paying closer attention to who my server is. One of the OG Viet-Cajun crawfish spots is newly renovated and though it's in the same location, it's now a closed off restaurant instead of openly nestled inside Hong Kong market. We went on a Saturday night during dinnertime & the wait was over 2 hours! The inside is beautifully decorated with modern Viet & Cajun influences all over the walls, the bar area is beautiful, and there is still ample seating. The service was QUICK and our amazing server, Jenna, frequently checked up on us & made sure everything was to our liking! A lot of the drinks (mocktails/cocktails) were sold out that night, but Jenna helped us make some flavored lemonades that were delicious! The menu still features the same good flavors + new ones! The restaurant is also combined with Pho Prime - I have yet to try but have heard good things from this menu. We had a party of 6 and each ordered 2 lbs of crawfish, all different flavors with potatoes, corn, boiled egg, cajun fries, and hushpuppies. I got the mix & Viet cajun flavors, mild spicy; both were delicious! The viet cajun is on the spicier side (not bad at all, but keep in mind if you're sensitive to spice). The crawfish came out within MINUTES steaming hot & the quality has definitely leveled up. Crawfish tasted fresh & were all a good size as we're entering peak crawfish season. As always, bibs & gloves are provided along with buckets to dump your trash in, there is a handwashing station near the restroom & Jenna was kind enough to give us some lemons to wash off our fingers. I had an amazing experience at Crawfish Cafe! This was my first time in Texas at all, and it was very heartwarming and comforting to see such a strong Vietnamese community in Houston. Our server was really nice, energetic, and funny. I didn't catch his name, but he really liked to crack jokes. Although I didn't understand all of them, I appreciated the effort. I really liked the atmosphere inside the restaurant, which combined traditional Vietnamese decor such as the moped and coconut boats along with more modern elements like the vibrant mural. And most of all, I loved the creative combination of southern cajun and Vietnamese flavors! There was a large selection of cocktails with Vietnamese flavors that I absolutely could not choose between: Pandan Colada... Lychee Mai Tai... Vietnamese Mojito... But per our server's recommendation, I settled on the Lemongrass Mule. It was refreshing, and I thought the lemongrass flavor worked well with the ginger beer. My favorite thing that I had was "The Grail" sauce in my seafood boil. The thai basil felt very unique and the sauce was so garlicky and delicious! I mopped up the sauce with my garlic bread. Then, I dumped my garlic noodles into the bowl to soak up every last drop! And although we were at the tail end of crawfish season, the crawfish were still relatively plump. The tails were sweet and tender and the heads were bursting with juices! I completely destroyed my 1/2 pound of crawfish. I got combo 2, which also came with a cluster of snow crabs legs! The snow crab legs also went very well with the sauce. And the best part is that it only cost $37! As a native Southern Californian, I could not believe my eyes. I also really liked the crawfish beignets! Upon bite, the pastry burst with delicious savory, cheesy goodness. The filling was so creamy and infused with crawfish flavor. I loved it and thought it was so creative. I also really liked the spicy mayo it came with. For pickier eaters that do not like seafood, there are many options available. My boyfriend opted for the "Bird Pack," which came with 6 wings, cajun rice, potatoes, and sausage. The chicken and rice tasted very good and flavorful.  My only critique is that I wish I got more of the scallion oil flavor from the scallion oil grilled oysters.  This is the best meal I've had in Houston so far! This is a bit of a hidden restaurant tucked away into the (struggling) Hong Kong Plaza on Bellaire Blvd. I would never have known about this place if it weren't part of the Dining Rewards Program, which I used to search for restaurants where I could eat and earn additional airline miles on my dine in addition to my standard credit card point earnings. I like crawfish so I came out to this spot not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. This restaurant space houses two distinct restaurant concepts owned by the same people who own Ocean Palace, the dim sum joint next door: a crawfish joint and a phở restaurant. I was a bit skeptical of the concept but was very taken by the vibrant design and murals depicting crawfish against scenes of Việt Nam. When you go in you are given both menus for phở and crawfish, and can order from both. I was advised by my server to go for the crawfish, since the were in season. I ordered a pound of crawfish, corn on the cob, and a side of fried okra. Everything was delicious and really hit the spot. I will be back and bring friends to eat and earn extra miles! This is a hard review to make as Crawfish cafe (Alief) used to be one of my favorite place for crawfish. I especially love the Thai basil or holy grail but since they reopened it has been a disappointment twice. The crawfish are super salty now. Our food took so long 30-40 minutes on a Wednesday afternoon. We got com tam, which isn't their speciality but it didn't look fresh by the time it got to the table. If you know com tam you'll know it wasn't done right for $16. The pho broth was good but besides that it is very pricey for a regular pho nam gau. The server was very sweet though. Just had lunch at Crawfish Cafe and I'm still thinking about it. Easily one of the best crawfish spots I've ever had. I ordered 2 lbs of the lemon pepper crawfish and 1 lb of the Texas Cajun. Every single one was HUGE, juicy, and packed with flavor. The crawfish were sweet and seasoned perfectly. I also tried the seafood gumbo (loaded with blue crab, shrimp, crawfish tails, and sausage) and the crawfish étouffée. Both were rich, hearty, and full of flavor. You can really taste the quality in every bite. Washed it all down with a mango dragon fruit tea, which hit the spot. Customer service was just as impressive. Friendly, quick, and welcoming the whole time. I ate GOOD today. This place definitely sets the bar for crawfish. I'll 100% be back. read more

Crawfish Cafe has had a total facelift, and with that comes some interesting changes. Meet the new Crawfish Cafe x Pho Prime x Ocean Palace. Yes, it's essentially 2 or 3 restaurants in one. The restaurant is totally unrecognizable, redesigned with interior and artistic touches that pay homage to the Vietnamese culture that makes Houston so special. We visited on grand reopening day. Upon sitting, we felt a bit confused as menus for two different restaurants were placed on the table -- Crawfish Cafe and Pho Prime. Apparently Ocean Palace owns both of them now? It felt strange looking through separate menus, so I wonder if they'll consolidate someday. We ordered all our Crawfish Cafe favorites (crawfish, garlic noodles, wings, beignets), and a bowl of pho. The pho only had 4 small pieces of meat and the broth was quite salty. The wings and garlic noodles hit just as hard as they always have. Our crawfish tasted as I remember, except they were some of the smallest I've had this season and the spice level was not "medium." Overall, I'm stoked that Crawfish Cafe is back. The new space looks great and the core dishes that made them popular still deliver. It feels like they're still ironing out a few things with the new concept, but if the crawfish size and seasoning level bounce back a bit, I think this will easily feel like the Crawfish Cafe everyone knows again.
