We did the Signature flavor for half of them and then Viet Cajun for the other half. I couldn't decide which flavor I like better. The Viet Cajun was more citrusy. They recently remodeled and had their soft opening this weekend. It's now a combined crawfish and pho restaurant. For those who've been here before, note that the back entrance is no longer accessible! I was pretty confused at first. The space is a big change from the previous setup in HK4. It's much larger, more separate, and feels like a different experience rather than a casual add-on. Despite it being a soft opening, service was smooth and the staff were friendly and attentive. I didn't try the pho this time, but the menu looked solid and I'll be back to check it out. I don't think I would have the stomach to order both in one sitting though. Current pricing is $10.99 per pound. The Grail (Thai basil and garlic butter mix) is my favorite and a standout flavor that's pretty unique to Crawfish Cafe. They have PERFECTED Vietnamese-Cajun, which orginated here in Houston. As of March, crawfish season is in full swing. The crawfish is big, fresh, and packed with flavor that's almost too good to be true. Once you've eaten at Crawfish Cafe, you'll find youself having that specific craving that can only be satisfied by coming back here. What sets this place aside from other Cajun/Viet-Cajun restaurants are the flavors. While many places do a cajun or garlic butter, Crawfish Cafe takes it to the next level with their house blends. The Mix, The Grail, The Signature, and their newest additon, The Hook, combines a classic garlic butter with either Lemon Pepper, Thai Basil, kickin Cajun or Coco Loco. I simply fell in love with The Grail (garlic butter + Thai Basil) and have stuck to it ever since. Despite the crowd, food comes out really fast. Our servers were quick and the service was seamless. Our buckets of shells filled up fast and it was impressive seeing the servers empty it just as fast. Pro tip: use the bib. Don't be a baby - wear the bib or risk staining your favorite shirt. It's fulls me with a sense of pride to see how far this restaurant has come. I remember coming here before the remodel when the space still looked like a little pop-up shop and seating was super limited. I'm glad to see that they've expanded both physically and menu-wise. Plenty of crawfish restaurants around the area, but Crawfish Cafe is one of the better ones. It's located inside Hong Kong mall, so I'll stop by here before grocery shopping from time to time. The crawfish was good, the house special signature sauce is a nice blend of Cajun heat and rich garlic. It could use a bit more garlic and Cajun flavor but still good. The crawfish were slightly on the smaller side even still in the middle of crawfish season. The sides were fantastic though. Some of the most crispy sweet potato fries I've had while still silky soft on the inside. We had the garlic noodles as a small side as well, and it was decadent with a punch of aromatic garlic flavor. I would probably come back just for the garlic noodles alone. read more

Okay this is my second time here and I'm still not sure if I feel the way most people feel. The service was great but the food was just okay. I got the Fried shrimp with sweet potato Fries and the garlic noodles and a pound of boiled shrimp with the head on and the signature sauce. I'll start off with the fried shrimp and seeet potato fries being pretty good, although the fries were kind of all stuck together so not sure what that was about. The garlic noodles were wayyyyy too garlicky. Like wayyyyy too much garlic! Also the noodles didn't seem very fresh or maybe they were overcooked, I'm not sure but the the texture wasn't the best. The shrimp were a good size but it seemed over cooked and I didn't feel like we got a generous amount of sauce in the bag to really enjoy. Also for $20/pound, they were a little too pricey to miss the mark. I know there's a new location in Pearland so maybe I'll give them one more try before I throw in the towel. read more

Went to check them out after their new renovation, and it was really great! Like always, there is a wait time to get a table, so plan accordingly. Went on a Sunday night, and our wait time was 40 minutes. We had crawfish in viet Cajun sauce in medium spicy but asked for a side of their extra spicy sauce to dip in (totally worth it). We also had half a dozen fresh oysters that were clean and not gritty. Tasted creamy and went well with the house cocktail sauce. The beer battered cod fish sliders were great! Amazing handheld food with balanced yuzu tartar, slice of cheddar and Hawaiian roll bun. We got the bread pudding, which came with with a scoop of ice cream - flavour was good, not too sweet with the raisins and candied pecans but I would have liked for it to be fresh or made the day off. Location: Crawfish Cafe is on the right hand side of the Hong Kong Mall near Ocean Palace. Now that crawfish season is in full swing, I thought I'd try this spot out with a group of friends. I recommend getting a reservation if possible because it gets packed. My friends and I started off with garlic noodles, crawfish etouffee, wings (fish sauce and nashville hot), and crawfish (the grail sauce which is garlic butter and thai basil) The wings were okay, nothing mind-blowing but the garlic noodles were fantastic! The crawfish etouffee was also decent but out of all the appetizers, I would highly recommend the garlic noodles. As for the crawfish, there's four levels of spice (Mild, Medium, Spicy, and Extra Spicy). I ordered the Spicy and it definitely packed a punch- I was sweating a little bit lol. For reference, I enjoy eating spicy buldak noodles (as long as there's an egg in it to dilute the spice a little bit) Flavor-wise, it was fantastic! Corn and potatoes were good, and the andouille sausage had that snappy case that we all crave. And with the big crawfish all doused in the Grail sauce, I was in heaven. It was cold and a Wednesday but that did not stop the influx of people. It was pretty busy since no one wanted to sit on the patio. Too cold. We ordered 3 lbs of crawfish with the Grail (garlic butter + Thai basil) + 2 corns, Cajun fried rice and side of garlic noodles. The crawfish was a mix of small, medium and large. The smalls were at the bottom of the bowl and the mix was good. There were a few "dead" crawfish if you know what I mean. The sauce worked well overall, would have liked it a bit spicier but it was packed with flavor. The Cajun fried rice was full of shrimp, crawfish tails and sausage. Great portion and it was really good. Side of garlic noodles - was very disappointed, bc the garlic noodles were super buttery with not enough of a garlic punch. Overall, the experience was nice. It was a bit loud so if you have attention issues, be prepared. The staff were so super friendly and helpful. Not sure if he was the manager but there was a guy in black t shirt at the front that seated us and stopped to check on us and he was stellar. Would go back just for him. Our waitress was great too. Our favorite crawfish spot in Houston! Located at Hong Kong mall off of Bellaire Blvd. The place is clean and big. Service is friendly. We ordered the oyster sampler, boudin link, and 2 lb crawfish with signature mix. Oh so good!! Oysters were a nice size, my favorite was the grilled oyster which had lots of cheese, butter, and breadcrumbs. The boudin link had a nice snap and was very flavorful. But the star of the night was the crawfish! It's the beginning of crawfish season so sizes were mixed. The signature sauce was spicy, garlicky, buttery, and a touch of sweetness. It was so good, we added another pound. The seafood is MP so that night the crawfish was about $12/lb. We were considering to add a snow crab cluster, but one cluster was $26. A bit too pricey for us. You know a place is good when several tables have single diners! People willing to eat out alone for their crawfish fix!! First off, our server Jenna was super sweet! She was giving us tons of recommendations on what sauces were good since I was being pretty indecisive. I ordered 2LBs of crawfish: On the left I got all the sauces except Original Cajun I thought it would've been too salty, but it wasn't! And I was able to taste all the sauces without one of them overwhelming the others. The sauce with coconut added a bit of a sweet kick to it, I personally don't prefer it but if you do I would add it! On the right I got the Grail with some potatoes - this is usually my go-to order and it never fails. I'm Just a big fan of garlic butter and Thai basil. I stopped by a several months ago right before Crawfish Cafe temporarily closed for renovations for a late lunch for four around 1-2pm on a Saturday. The restaurant is located on the right side HK4, near Ocean Palace. It was not too busy when we came in, maybe around 2/3 of the tables were seated, so we were pretty quickly seated. Our server was nice and helpful. We ordered 5 lbs of the House Special Signature Medium blend, Fried Shrimp Platter with Sweet Potatoes Fries and Garlic Noodles, and Cajun Calamari. The House Special Signature seasonings on the crawfish were nice but a bit too heavy on the salt, which overpowered the other flavors from the blend. The size of the crawfish was also not very big even though it was in the middle of the crawfish season, and I had much bigger crawfish from other crawfish places around the same time for comparison. The fried shrimp platter was probably my favorite; it was perfectly seasoned and lightly crispy, and the garlic noodles and sweet potato fries were some of the best I've had. The fried cajun calamari was also really good. Overall, I would give this a 3.5/5 mainly because of the crawfish's flavors but rounding up to a 4/5 for the other dishes. read more

I viewed their menu and decided on 2-pound crawfish - House special blend - the grail (garlic & thai basil) and Cajun fries. Here is my take on their food: Crawfish - the flavor was good, perfect balance of seasoning but I think the crawfish was not fresh. I ended up getting food sick. Cajun fries - They were too salty for my taste buds. Chargrilled oysters - although I only had two oysters, I think they were good and would order it again (if I come back). How have I not reviewed this before?! Crawfish Cafe has been my favorite place to grab crawfish since back in the day when they first opened, especially this OG location. They have recently opened their newest concept, Crawfish Cafe x Pho Prime - you can get all the seafood and pho together here now! The newly renovated space is now a full blown restaurant rather than a standalone outside HK mall/Ocean Palace. Nice decorations inside and appreciate the hand washing sink right outside the restrooms. It was fully packed at 7pm with a wait on a weekday (Tuesday). I expect them to be even more crowded on weekends. Food is still great (I typically get the crawfish, with "The Grail" sauce (which is a house special blend of garlic butter and thai basil, or "The Mix" sauce which is a combo of garlic butter and lemon pepper). My boyfriend and I chose the bird pack from the smack packs. The bird pack comes with fried rice, 6 wings, boiled egg, corn, sausage, potato, and smack sauce. You get to choose what wing flavor you want and we decided on the hot honey. We also decided to upgrade the fried rice to garlic noodles for +2! Honestly even though we shared it was more than enough to feed the both of us. The garlic noodles were garlicky, creamy, and slightly sweet. Newly renovated spot!!! Just opened back up last week and went for the crawfish. Left home with the best full feeling I've ever had from a crawfish session. Not just because of the food but because of the service we received. You guys need to give this place a try. Please request Jenna as your server. My family tried coming here about 2 weeks after the remodel and it was a 2 hr wait at 6 pm for a group of 4 so we left. Last night we decided to give it another go because we wanted to eat here at least once before the crawfish season ended. We came at 5:45 pm on a Saturday and there was no wait. Luckily we did because it started to really pick up afterwards - the restaurant got more crowded and the wait became long. I've been coming to Crawfish Cafe since I was in college so pretty much since it opened therefore I can really appreciate the remodel. The space feels more open and the decor feels nice and modern. I like that they kept the hand washing station separate from the bathrooms for ease of access. They had 2 types of menus - one for Pho Prime and one for Crawfish Cafe and both remained pretty extensive. My bf and I opted for a large bowl of pho dac biet and 3 lbs of Viet Cajun crawfish to share. When we ordered the pho, we were asked if we wanted regular noodles or fresh noodles. We were kind of caught off guard because we had been to numerous pho restaurants before and had never been asked that question. We picked the fresh noodles because our waiter described them as softer. He didn't mention that it would be a $2 up charge tho (granted it is listed on the menu but he could have explicitly told us as well as a heads up). He did the same thing when offering potato and corn with the crawfish. It would be nice for him to have been more explicit when mentioning the extra items because some people get nervous ordering and forget to fully look at the menu to see if things costs extra. As a past waiter myself, I just find it to be the considerate thing to do. He also forgot several things throughout our meal - giving only half the table straws with their drinks, not giving any utensils even though food had already been delivered to the table, giving us only 1 bib and no gloves for 2 people eating crawfish, and forgetting to give us the plate of beans sprouts, mints, and limes with our pho. We constantly felt like we were flagging him down for something even though it was at a time when the restaurant wasn't super crowded yet. The crawfish beignets - holy cow, insane. It was like an explosion of flavor once you bite into it. The pho was okay - nothing special and not really worth $16 which is pretty pricey compared to other pho places. While the broth was flavorful, the bowl looked like it was filled to the brim with just liquid and it felt lacking in the amount of meat and noodles that was given. The crawfish was delicious as usual but I ordered the new viet Cajun sauce and the Vietnamese spices really overpowered the garlic butter especially at the end when you just have the sauce at the bottom - it was nothing but spice. Cajun fries were consistent and a hit as always. My dad seemed to enjoy his fried catfish and shrimp platter. At the end, I had an $8 off promo with the rewards system they had which I forgot to give to our waiter prior to him running my card but he was able to run it by management and give me $8 back on my bill which I appreciated. read more
