Overall, very comparable and similar to OC's Viet Cajun. FOOD Appetizers/sides: - cajun fries: 4/5 honestly did not really have any cajun flavor whatsoever, but fries are fries and these were good. - oyster nachos: 3/5 these were alright... don't really have much to say it just wasn't anything special. - 2lbs of crawfish: 4/5 my sister got this and she said that these were fresh, but the meat was very tiny. she also said the sauce here was very liquid-y for her, and could have been more thick. she got The Signature house special blend. - 2lbs of head on shrimp: 4/5 we got the same The Signature house special blend, but the sauce with our shrimp was very thick compared to the crawfish. it was pretty salty, but the flavor was good. we added in an order of sausage ($3.99), and boiled potatoes ($1.50, comes with 3). the sausage and potatoes are a great price-- in OC sausage is $6! the sausage is not salty here either. lastly, they are known for their micheladas here. it was the end of the night and they only had dos equis. i don't drink michi's often-- this one was very sour and was heavy on the salt rim. read more

Crawfish Cafe is located in the Hong Kong center next to Ocean Palace in Bellaire. Simple, relatively small restaurant but it does Asian style crawfish really well! The menu is pretty self explanatory, but they really only serve different kinds of seafood, appetizers, wings, fried baskets, fried rice, and a list of extra add ins. For the boiled/bagged seafood, you just choose your seafood of choice (mine is ALWAYS crawfish here), 1 of their 6 delicious flavors (garlic butter or thai basil are my go to's), then your spice level (I always order the SPICIEST level cause it's just better, trust me). Add on a couple sides like their french fries, onion rings, or crawfish fried rice to really complete the meal. And order a bucket of beer if you want the full experience. It's nice that they are BYOB for wine/liquor also. Once all the condiments, extra seasoning, trash bowls, and bibs are brought to your table, you're ready to DIG IN and enjoy! My only complaint is that Crawfish Cafe can get expensive really quickly. All the seafood is market price, and it's hard to get full on just crawfish, especially when it's usually $8/lb. Word on the street was that this place is off the mf chain and I 100% agree. Crawfish Cafe is legit! Located inside Hong Kong City Mall by Oceans Palace. I came in this afternoon right when they opened at 3pm so there was no wait, however, it did fill up quickly within the hour I was there. At some restaurants, you are required to order at least 2lbs of crawfish but not here! I liked that I had the option of 1lb because I was able to order more flavors this way. I got the kickin cajun medium and the mixed sauce at spicy (garlic butter and thai basil). Both are addicting and levels of spice were enjoyable! I understand it's not crawfish season right now, but I've had tasty frozen ones at many other places. However, my experience here was the worst one yet. The crawfish was very small, mushy, and smelly like it was rotten. Almost unable to consume. I am really picky about my crawfish!! I ordered everything online, the website was easy to navigate. What I also like was that I could order a table cover and gloves. I ordered 3lbs of Crawfish in the "The Mix" flavor, 1lb of Snow Crab-legs in the "The Mix with Basil" and the Shrimp Fried Rice. First let me say everything was seasoned so well. I am one who loves to cook so of course I made my own butter sauce. The crawfish were an ok size (a little pricy for the size) but I could suck the juice out the head. The only thing I did not like was the sauce on the crawfish and crab legs was a little sweet. I don't care for my sauce being sweet so that's why I need my butter sauce. Let me first start by saying their customer service was excellent! The waiter was always around refilling our waters, he came by multiple times to empty our bowls, asked us if we needed anything, and even went back a couple of times to get more sauce on our crawfish. It wasn't super packed, but there were a good amount of people that were there, and I think for the amount of people our waiter went above and beyond. The manager also came out to tell us that they were short on crawfish but that they were getting more. She offered to give us part of our order in the meantime. We ordered the thai basil crawfish and the mix. The thai basil didn't really have much flavor to it other than a buttery taste. So we asked them to add the mix to it. It made it way better. So if you like buttery/spicy, I recommend getting the thai basil and mix together. That way you also get the garlic flavor and the basil. I really enjoyed the mix flavor more because I'm a lover of garlic! I didn't think it was too spicy, so next time I'd like to try extra spicy. But if you love garlic than that is the flavor to go with. We also got potatoes, corn and some shrimp. The potatoes were a good size, not the small ones that typically come in a crawfish batch. I wasn't crazy about the shrimp, while it had the same mix flavor as the crawfish it didn't taste as good. Hands down I would recommend this place for crawfish, it is on the pricier side, but I think the flavors are worth it and the customer service as well! read more

Still my favorite place for crawfish. Even when it's not in season and made from frozen ones, it's still just as good. Their frozen market price is $7.99 per pound which is not bad at all. I highly recommend the garlic butter or mix at spicy level. The sauce just steps into the shell and is amazing once you tear it apart to suck the juice out. If you order potatoes, dip it into the sauce at the bottom! You won't regret it. My friends and I shared 2 pounds of kickin Cajun, 2 pounds of garlic butter, and 2 pounds of the mix. We were there on a Sunday an hour before opening at noon. Decided to check out Crawfish Cafe since Ocean's Palace had 100 people waiting. It's a good sign when there's already a line queing to get in before they even open their doors. Service was efficient and friendly. They have booths and tables with partitions and a station to wash your hands. They bring you sauces for your table in individual containers and gloves and bibs. We loved the shrimp boil with potatoes, eggs, corn and mushroom. The garlic flavor was sooooo good and the shrimp were huge. We also got a pound of the mussels. They were fresh, but we picked the wrong sauce. The Thai coconut sauce was too sweet for me. Overall a great meal that came out way cheaper than expected. 2 lbs shrimp and 1 lb mussels with sides for less than $50. We will be back! read more

We order 5 lbs of "The Mix" and 5 lbs of the Thai basil, both at the spicy level. Along with it, we ordered two sets of potatoes which is a total of 6. You order potatoes in sets of 3 and then we ordered 3 corns. Corns do not come in sets. While waiting the manager came out to inform us they had only 8 lbs ready to be cooked and it would take 15 minutes for the other 2 lbs. I thought it was nice of the manager to come out instead of our waiter telling us and just informing us instead of just giving us what was ready and have us wait. It was fine though cause it made me think people really like their food. "The mix" was delicious and very flavorful. It had the spice and the garlic taste all in one. It was really good that's all I can say. The Thai basil had more of a buttery taste, it was ok. Then this is when the great service comes in. We asked if we could get more flavor on our Thai Basil and the waiter said we could add the Thai basil and "The Mix" together. Did not know that could be done and that was just as delicious as the "The Mix" We also ordered shrimp in the "The Mix" Spicy flavor. Again we asked for more flavor and he took it back and added more, no questions asked. It was more on the salty side but very good! Garlic was everywhere. So this place is good if you like garlic. Man this place is amazing. Been here three times now and all three times I have had great experiences . Crawfish cheese bread is good but they made it much smaller than it used to be so I would recommend to go with the crawfish egg rolls . They are fire . Crawfish Cafe is definitely one of the best crawfish restaurants in Houston! However, I don't know if the line is worth the wait especially on weekends. I waited over 1 hour and 30 minutes on a Friday night to get a table. On this particular visit, I ordered 3 pounds of "The Mix" and a fried shrimp platter. The crawfish here is very flavorful and juicy. It's in season right now, so they were huge! They also add heaping portions of garlic and butter to the sauce, which creates a perfect spicy mixture. This will definitely be my go-to restaurant for crawfish in the future! The service here was also very good. Our server was very prompt, and the food came out relatively quickly. I guess I should preference this with the fact that I've really only ever had boiled crawfish in Louisiana. We ordered a pound of kickin cajun crawfish and a pound of shrimp, with sides of potatoes and corn. $10/lb is expensive, but I guess that's standard when it's imported. The crawfish was good, but really really small (I know they're out of season so it's partly on me). I thought the kickin cajun would just be cajun flavored, but it had a sweetness to it. Because the potatoes were bagged separately, they had no flavor so I had to add salt. I think this place is an option when I'm craving crawfish and just can't wait, but I'll try another place first before returning. read more
