I am just in love with this place. John was super sweet and laughed at me as I kept saying "OMG I want it all! I want it ALL!!!!" He has amazing stuff and does a great job refinishing it JUST enough to make it functional but keep the antique charm and feel of each item. You almost feel like you are walking through a hall of very loved items. I felt almost as if I was going back in time. He had a great deal of large furniture as well as smaller items. if you are looking for a unique piece of furniture, look no further. Now, he IS a bit on the pricey side but you a paying for him finding it, redoing it to functionality, and a pair of loving hands making sure these pieces will last for at least 1-2 more generations. Next.... get a house big enough and a salary to accommodate such beautiful items! read more

Definitely not my best used furniture shopping experience. When I notified John hours after a purchase that the item was not going to work in my home, he stated that the "discount" he offered without my asking was the reason why he could not consider a return even though my receipt says nothing about the item being a final sale. Next day, John called to say that since it was less than "24 hours" he would allow the return, which he later acknowledged was only done at wife Susie's urging. When I arrived, neither of them knew how to issue a refund to my credit card, so eventually refunded my payment in cash. I offered them a printout of the CA Consumer Protection regulation related to merchandise returns, which BTW does not mention a 24-hour provision, but they declined the info even though it was clear that they either: 1) have no clue what's required (after 38 years in business); or 2) deliberately tried to deny my rights as a CA consumer. There are many wonderful shopping experiences to be had in the Santa Cruz used furniture world with more knowledgeable, honorable merchants and significantly better deals to be found. read more

This place is great. I've been driving by it for years and finally decided to enter. The furniture is from Pennsylvania and are mostly large pieces. We purchased an incredible 1860's hutch table and 4 chairs. All brought down to the original paint or surface, then resurfaced to maintain years and years of continued use. The pieces are so unique, and it's really rare to find such quality and age in California. They deliver and are as nice as can be. Oh and the building has some history as well. It was the original location for NHS. NHS is the company that makes the world famous Santa Cruz skateboard. read more

This is one of the best antique furniture stores around; the items are so incredibly cared for and the team at Crawford spends a generous amount of time collecting, repairing, and stripping down these mid 19th century pieces. My husband and I are repeat customers and have been treated so kindly. There have been a few items that we purchased right off the floor that were ready to go (check out the 50% off room!!!), and a few pieces that the team did repair work on and customized for us with outdoor varnish. The folks at Crawford Antiques are so helpful at suggesting the right piece for your needs, and are willing to help customize pieces to really make it work for you. this place is so great, all around. i want to give it five stars because i want to live here. but i have to be realistic and give it 4 because the pieces seem pretty pricey. besides furniture there are windows, siding, bellows, molding, ships, an art gallery, and its so clean and organized. if i get more money i would definitely shop here. that would also be when i have a house to be in as well read more
