Haven't been here in a while. It is still just as good as I remember! I got the giant taco with grilled beef steak, guacamole, cheese, cilantro, onions and their spicy red salsa. Amazing. They make their own corn tortillas which is rare, and they are so thick! I think the tortilla was the best part! Everything was so fresh. They melted white cheese on the inside of the tortilla, so good. Service was super quick (I mean seriously quick, probably less than 2 minutes) and both the folks behind the counter were super nice. They have several tables in the shade and some benches nearby. I'll be back soon. read more

Crazy Coyote Tacos is like something out of a road trip movie. I live here in So Cal and never even noticed this place off the freeway. My friends and I were coming back from Coachella and the made it a point to stop here. They sell tortillas and they're so good. They have more bite than a regular taco and are a bit thicker. I got a taco and the quesadilla and the quesadilla was more than enough for one person. Both were delicious. The ladies running the business were so nice and fast. Parked on the side of the small shack and it was a walk-up and order type place with outdoor seating. It's a perfect place to eat lunch on the go. Definitely stopping here anytime I'm heading to or from Palm Springs or Coachella. read more

But the person who was there came out very rude and said we had to leave private property there is no sign stating that and we were fixing a flat and going to eat ! This is a local fixture/institution located near the entrance to the Morongo Sovereign Nation. Friendly staff, fast service, more than fair pricing, good portions, and good tasting food. Crazy Coyote Tacos - 4 Stars Stopped here on Memorial Day morning on our way home from Indio. Traffic was heavy, and we were looking for a quick bite when we saw the reviews for Crazy Coyote Tacos. It's conveniently located right off the freeway exit, which made it an easy stop. We ordered the nachos, carne asada fries, and the green chile verde burrito (which kept popping up in the reviews). Our total was $26 for all three items -- not bad for the portion sizes. The food was decent. It's not exactly authentic Mexican food, but it still hit the spot. The flavors were good, and everything was freshly made. We'd definitely stop by again if we're passing through the area. We also noticed that the couple ahead of us in line were on their way to the nearby outlets, so it seems like a popular pit stop for travelers. My friends have been going here after every Black Friday shopping trip at the outlets nearby. It's a small taco stand with some outdoor seating on the side of the road, very easy to miss, but a MUST if you're in this area. We dropped by before they were officially opened and made small talk with the gentleman who I believe is one of the owners and he was super friendly, funny, and cordial. The ladies who helped prepare our food and worked the cashiers were also very efficient and friendly too. Great welcoming, family feeling. We got the: 1) Giant Taco: -This comes with your choice of grilled steak or chicken breast (we chose grilled steak), guacamole, cheese, cilantro, onions, and salsa. -Delicious! The cheese is melted onto the tortilla and they do NOT skimp out on any of the ingredients. -I got this with the hot salsa and it has a pretty decent initial heat and slow burn throughout. Meat was nicely seasoned and tender and everything came together in a beautiful symphony of taste and texture in my mouth. -You know food is good when you don't need to add salsa but adding it definitely gave a good burning kick (especially the ghost salsa) which was great in the cold windy desert weather. 2) Burrito: -You also get the choice of grilled steak or chicken breast (we got grilled steak), rice, salsa, and cheese all in a flour tortilla. -Absolutely massive and STUFFED to the brim with ingredients. This will fill you up for the rest of the day most likely and if you're not a big eater you can definitely save the other half for later. -Great distribution of insides without it being too horizontal or lateral (meaning each bite will get you a little bit of everything instead of one mouthful of rice or something). 3) Chips and Salsa (with a side of guacamole): -They're the standard corn chips, shaped in coin rounds but it went great with the extra side of guacamole that I purchased. -They fluff their's out with sour cream and was absolutely delicious. -I'll get a bigger side of guac next time I'm there for sure. 4) Ghost Pepper Salsa: -A MUST if you love spicy salsas. -I had to get some to go and I got the huge 16 oz of container. -The burn comes in strong, kicks really hard, and is drawn out as well. -Their food is already good without the salsa but this just brings it up another notch! I actually had some bland leftovers a bit later on and this made everything super good after. -Just make sure you eat this quick or store it in a jar since it's something that they make themselves it will go bad if left out for too long. I don't mind making this a yearly tradition to visit as well seeing as this was some of the best Mexican food and salsa that I've ever had. I have been coming here since I was a kid with my mom and sister, and it makes me so happy to see that this stand is still here, serving great food at an amazing price point. Service is quick and friendly, and the food is always made to order. My favorites to get are the steak burrito and the fish taco plate (spicy always), which comes with a side of rice and beans. Both have a nice kick. Sometimes, I get the giant taco to change it up. Seating is al fresco with shade. Depending on what time of day / year you're here, it can be bearable or scorching outside. Not their fault obviously but just something to flag. If it's too hot, most people just eat in the car. They have a little tree that they planted some time ago that is now a medium-ish tree that provides some shade in the parking lot. Enjoy! read more

Crazy Coyote Tacos is located at the west end of the frontage road in front of the outlet center, immediately before the highway onramp. This is super convenient. They are locally, family owned and operated. There is limited outdoor seating (see store front pic). I saw several apparent regulars take their orders away with them. All the orders we saw were filled extremely quickly. You can see from the pics that the tacos are soft shell. The shells were a thicker tortilla. The ingredients were a bit on the hotter side; even the mild had some heat. The flavor for both was okay. The Nachos had ample cheese sauce (see pic), this also had a bit of spice in the flavoring. The salsa for the chips was the green version. We also had the grilled beef burrito. There was ample beef in the burrito. The onions were a bit mild but added a nice bit of crunch. I was really looking forward to this place and try it out. I went in blind. Ordered the carne asada big taco with rice and beans. I was really surprised by the amount of oil on and in the big taco. flavors were bland and oily. Rice was ok but a little crunchy. Beans were ok. Overall, not a good first impression. This place is amazing. The menu is small, but this allows them to perfect what they do serve. The tacos are addicting. The corn tortillas have to be homemade. They are very thick and large for corn tortillas, and they are stuffed with lots of marinated steak, onions, and cilantro. Really delicious. Must try. Also, had a burrito yesterday afternoon (before somebody crashed into it and died!). It is huge and so very tasty. And a bonus, there's a great little ice cream stand in the parking lot. I had a big ice cream sundae. Very good! I hope the accident doesn't close them down for a while. The building looks to be intact still, so hope all is OK! We were on our way back to LA from Palm Springs and wanted to stop by this place because we heard it was good. It was just ok, very forgettable. I got the two taco combo plate with a steak and fish taco with rice and beans and a canned soda. The steak taco seasoning was very bland and I can't quite make out what it was but it wasn't very good or flavorful. I love fish tacos and these seem like it's frozen and just dropped in the fryer vs the fresh batter. I frequent Taco Nazo and Senor Baja in the San Gabriel Valley and these are definitely mediocre. The batter is not light and crispy and does not seem fresh. The beans were scant, barely half full in the tray. The tortillas look like it's homemade and a good size but very thick (not my preference). Extra sauce is extra $$. When getting the fish tacos the lady asked if we'd be getting any other fried foods because it took a while (5 extra minutes) to fry the one peice of fish and they would do it all at once, we said no initially, but another friend decided she also wanted to try the fish taco, so we asked if we can add one more, she seemed annoyed since they already started on the first fish. Really?! You have customers wanting to ADD to their order, which means YOU make more of a sale and you're annoyed because you have to throw one more peice of fish in the fryer?! She said we's have to wait another 5 mins, no big deal! Mind you, we were the only customers at that point so it wasn't like they were busy. Plus, I've never had anyone in the food business get annoyed at people adding to their order. Anyway, with so many delicious Mexican Food stops along the way, I wouldn't waste time on this one. SKIP THIS PLACE. Worst food. I just wasted my money. Carne asada meat was super dry. Rice and beans taste like they are cooked once a month. Corn chips are stale. I had so much hope, too bad the food wasn't even average. The nachos are soooo cold. Cheese is not melted. So much cilantro. Plus we got two spoons, no forks!? If you're shopping at the Cabazon Outlets or going to Morongo Casino, make sure you grab food from here. Open 11-5 Thurs to Mon. Yes, they close early. But there's usually less people here past 5 anyway. Try all their food. Its just all good. If you're brave and like salsa, they have one with ghost peppers. We found this gem about 20 years ago when returning home from a Salton Sea camping trip. They have the best handmade tortillas which is the foundation for incredible tacos. Their steak is tender a full of flavor and sauce is spicy. On our last trip through in December we had the opportunity to try their homemade tamales which were excellent as well. Apparently after picking up your order you can't stay in the parking lot designated area Because your blocking and will get told your "blocking the driveway and to go leave and park elsewhere" There was absolutely NOBODY in the parking lot and I was not blocking entry. And simply responded and told her I didn't want to scare her ghost customers away (because it was empty) and because she was getting aggressive and I had to defend myself so I responded in that matter. she threatened to call police making a scene.
