This place used to be a lot better before the rebrand. The old setup had more personality, and the newer look feels a little more generic. It's not bad, it just lost some of what made it stand out. The food is still really solid though, which is why I keep coming back. The aguachile is one of the best things on the menu, super fresh with a good kick, and the tacos are consistently done right. Simple, clean, and you know what you're getting every time. It's a nice sit-down restaurant if you want to actually relax and eat instead of rushing through a meal. Service is usually solid even when it's busy. Fair warning, it gets packed after church and the wait can build up quick, so timing matters if you don't want to sit around. The food was honestly a hard 5 out of 10. The beans and chips were very good, but that was the highlight. It was just my husband and me: I got one shredded beef taco with a side of beans, he got three tacos, and we had two drinks total. My son and his wife brought us into Tacos and Beer in Belmont and... wow. Just wow. The customer service here deserves its own award. Everyone was beyond friendly and made us feel right at home -- plus, there's tons of seating, so no awkward waiting around with your hanger setting in. They start you off with chips, salsa, and a side of beans that I swear must have some kind of secret magic in them. I'm seriously tempted to beg for the recipe. We got the fajitas and a torta, and holy guacamole -- that torta was HUGE. Like, "can't-fit-in-your-mouth" huge. The fajitas were sizzling perfection and easily enough for two people (but don't expect to share once you taste them ). Even though it's about an hour drive for us, we'll 100% be making the trip again. Totally worth it. HUGE portions and good flavors! I was honestly amazed at how big the portions were, definitely come hungry!! The food overall was tasty. Their slogan "Let's TACO about it" totally caught my eye and got me to pull right into the parking lot and I'm so glad I did, because it only got better from there! The moment we walked in, the vibe was cool and so welcoming. Then I saw the menu and instantly felt like I was back in Mexico. We were off to an amazing start! I ordered 3 fish tacos Baja style (because obviously), and my husband got the 3 shrimp taquito plate. When the food arrived, it looked even better than the pictures: like, stop-scrolling-worthy. My mouth was watering before the first bite, and it did not disappoint. Fresh, flavorful, and absolutely DELICIOUS. My husband barely said two words... because he was too busy smiling and devouring his plate. That's how you know it's legit. But the cherry on top? The staff. We picked up the relleno baked potato, mini chimichangas and the shrimp with garlic. The food has always been really good here. Today, the shrimp on top of the rice was very greasy or buttery so we tossed a lot of it out. The potato was good. The chimichangas had good flavor. We have been coming here since 2020 I believe or around there. When we have dined in they always give chips and beans to dip. Even on to go order they give a tiny bag of chips with the beans and salsa. Today I asked for that tiny bag and she said they charge for it. I asked if that changed and she said no. She wasn't willing to explain further and she was kind of rude. I have probably dined in or picked up to go at least 15 times. This is the first time there wasn't any salsa, chips and beans. We have ordered from this restaurant before and all the food was great. I am not sure if they changed cooks or what is going on, but the green sauce that used to be full of flavor and mild, is now intensely spicy and flavorless. Also, the menu has changed. Many items such as Camarones Locos are not available. The Camarones al Mojo de Ajo are super spicy. Service is poor and staff lacks basic customer service skills. I am not completely sure if we will return or not. Our office (more than 10 staff members) used to go there all the time, not too motivated to seek comfort food or hospitality from this restaurant anymore. read more

The environment to eat is very home like and I love eating here. However this time ordering on the phone, I was greeted with super low energy, mumbling and bad customer service. One thing that was important to me is that I can tolerate spicy food but my significant other cannot and we were asked what kind of sauce we wanted in our Molcajete. Been coming here since the early 2000's when they first opened. Owner/relative had a place in Boyle Heights that I went to all the time when I worked in East LA. Food and service has changed ALOT the past 4 years.... We used to eat there 3-4 times a week. Management has changed and now can't even go there for dinner...what Mexican restaurant closes at 4pm four days of the week? Food quality has indeed suffered and prices have gone up almost 40% during recent years. Absolutely delicious! I'll be coming back here when I'm in the area. The service is quick and they bring out chips and various types of salsa + refried beans. I love the variety :).
