This a great hole in the wall and we make a visit there at least once when we go to Branson. It's more a local place but the vibe is great. Service is almost always good. The food is bar food. If you're looking for healthy or bougie this is not the place for you. It's ok for older kids but they don't really cater for the tweens and below. Dive Bar par Excellence! "Welcome to The Cheeky Monkey Bar!" rings out as you walk through the door. When I visited, Jackie and Chuck were behind the bar, greeting guests, wetting whistles, and setting a cheerful mood. Although the menu is rather brief, that doesn't indicate that they aren't serious about the food. Do yourself a favor and come hungry. Your tummy will thank you. I had the brisket quesadilla, and it was tremendous. I'm quite sure the pulled pork is equally stunning. My only problem will be deciding between the Cheeky Steak Sub and the Monkey Burger when I come back. And I will certainly be back! He returns with the "house" shot complimentary. Great flavor. He suggests a couple drinks and we tried a couple house drinks and they were very tasty. They do have a good looking food menu. The history of the bar is a great bar story. Be sure to ask the bartender about it. Chances are you may be talking to one of the owners. My girlfriends and I had a weekend getaway to Branson. Our first day we arrived, it was the afternoon and we stopped at the cheeky monkey. When we arrived we were greeted with complementary shots and the food we ordered tasted great. Kim was such a delight. She treated us like family and next time we go there we will definitely say hello to her again! The following Saturday night, after our show, we stopped by again to see the band. Wanted to try a locals bar and hit a home run! Live music, at least on Saturday. As we entered a shout out of " welcome to Cheeky Monkey ". We were handed 3oz. Glasses of one of the tropical drinks. Exchanged names and shown a table. Our server, Kim, introduced herself and asked our names, where we were from, etc. I ordered the Monkey Business , served in a large glass. Service- It was great! Amanda was awesome and took care of us when we sat ourselves. We were also greeted with a shot that was absolutely delicious. I believe it was the Jack'd up Monkey. Only thing, I wish the shot had been chilled. Besides Amanda, the whole staff comes around and makes sure you're doing great, which is amazing to see! Food- I ordered some nachos to start, and a cheese burger later. I will say if you are a nachos lover, the brisket nachos are a must! The burger though, seemed to have been over done or waited for the other food, because it was dry. My wife ordered a brisket sandwich and she loved it. She is very particular about fatty brisket and this was pretty much all lean. So I think BBQ would be the way to go! Atmosphere- Was great! It gave you that dive feel. The bbq is good. The wait staff is friendly. You don't really have an assigned server. They all help out. They seated us with strangers, so that was a little awkward. My biggest complaint. The cigarette smoke. My husband and I reeked when we got home. I am not sure how they get away with it since Branson banned smoking in public places in 2015, including bars and restaurants. Maybe they are considered to be in the County and not Branson proper. Anyway, for people who cannot tolerate smoke or just dislike it, I would not suggest going here. read more
