I was invited to have lunch with a friend of mine here at Viron Rondo Osteria Doing research I knew this place was going to be bougie. So thoughts immediately went to "this place better be good for the money." I checked out the menu, and the prices seemed a little high for lunch. My expectations are running really high for this place to perform Upon pulling into the restaurant, which is gorgeous, parking was a breeze as the lot was very large in size After about a 25 to 30 yard walk, we entered the greeting station, and the young lady was there seating everybody promptly upon arrival. I love the walkway up to this area. Looking at the outdoor seating, there were many tables with these beautiful umbrellas it was a no-brainer to ask for an outdoor table to enjoy the surrounding plantings, and the early summer sunny weather This was lunchtime, and it was rather crowded The waitress came over and immediately poured us some ice water, and the second trip delivered us some bread with some olive oil and Parmesan, along with some hot pepper flakes. This bread was so warm with a solid crust, I could've made an appetizer just out of dipping this into the seasoned olive oil. It's a good thing there were only four pieces of bread as I could've eaten a lot more and filled up on it. I ordered the Classico Panini for $21.00. The sandwich consisted of grilled marinated chicken breast, roasted red peppers, arugula, mozzarella, and pesto, on a grilled Panini bread. I also chose the hand cut, french fries as the side. Within 20 minutes, the food arrived, and the presentation was spectacular I was immediately drawn to the french fries, which were a little bit soggy and taste it like they were sitting for a little bit, and they were served in this cute little silver bucket with ketchup on the side. I would give these a 6 or of 10. Now to the Panini... This was a spectacular choice. All the flavors with this grilled chicken breast playing off each other made this one memorable sandwich. This type of sandwich is out of my wheel horse, and I'm glad took a shot and ordered it! I took half the sandwich and a few of the french fries home with me. It was that filling! My friend had a fish sandwich with french fries on the side, served on a soft roll. She liked her lunch very much, as she's a regular here and enjoys the lunch choices. She took half of her lunch home with her. Now... Looking around I saw those eggplant chips piled high with the dipping sauces and said man o man, those look delicious. I think I'll order those next visit I also saw some really big salad choices coming out. They look like it even though I'm not one for salads for lunch. The mussels in marinara sauce served to the table next-door, looked like a hit. Cocktails were flowing these drinks specials and martinis were just everywhere! That tells me this is the place to go after work to have martinis in an appetizer In my 66 years around the sun, I would rate this as one of the best restaurants in Central Connecticut. Definitely a top five. If you have a chance to get here, come for lunch first sit outside enjoy a cocktail, and be prepared to serve huge portions of delicious offerings Service was with a smile and professional, this place was hit on all cylinders for lunch It was pointed out to me that the owner was making the round saying hi to people. I love this touch. This was really really cool. Lunch with the tip was $50, a bargain in any person's budget I would rather come here than hit one of the burger, chains, or steak chains This is local. This is locally owned. This is amazing. I really enjoyed being a guest here and I look forward to coming back shortly!
Viron Rondo is one of those restaurants where you love the experience despite thinking you are not going to. I give them so much credit for all they do and my last experience was such a great one too! We had a reservation for 8, outside. And despite every forecast saying it was going to be a beautiful night it started to rain on the way to Viron. When we arrived, we were told we were moved inside. Such a relief. And while it may seem like a no brainer, Viron is a very busy place, sometimes seating 300-400 people at the same time. A switch like that isn't easy. But they handled it. Eight different meals, 6 apps for the table, drinks, and desserts, all delicious. We've been before and we'll definitely be back.
What a treat! This was a recommendation from a friend. First off, the grand entrance to the parking lot with all of the beautiful landscaping signaled a resort style experience. There is plenty of parking, however, if you have a reservation, I recommend being there a few minutes before as they have a steady flow of people coming in and you may want to reduce your wait time. We waited only a couple of minutes but I cam see what other reviews mean when saying there is a wait even witb a reservation. It is beautiful inside and out. The bar area is another show stopper and great for their social hours. Talk about amazing picture scenes. It was all grand and so were the food portions OMG. Their family style can feed at least 6-8 if not more with normal portions. The porkchop my husband ordered was great he said. I had some of his polenta grits and it was amazing. My salmon was very good also although the veggies were not that hot. Still a great dish. Our drinks were good too. All staff were very nice. Our waitress ZhaeLynn was very attentive and helpful. We couldn't hqve dessert but those we saw pass by were huge! Great for couples, solo, or groups. Beautiful vibrant energy there. We look forward to bringing family and friends here.
My teammate and I were in town for work. One of of teammates highly recommended this place Location: the restaurant is BEAUTIFUL... reminds me of Italy which I appreciated. Parking: there is a private lot which makes parking convenient. Service: I made reservations and glad I did, they are a busy establishment. We had no wait, the service was good... I'm from the south so I excepted service to be friendlier but it wasn't horrible. Ambience/Crowd: Family friendly, almost a romantic vibe. Food/drink: 5/10 the mother's chips were great!! I ordered the Marsala and it wasn't good to me. My teammates food looked great! I think I just ordered the wrong thing Will I be back? I would go back and try something different.
Price is reasonable for the serving. You will get the worth of the money you spend. Food does not disappoint! My favorites - My Mother's Chips and the Apple Salad with Grilled Salmon. I always order these. That night we had the dinner, they had a 50 or 60 oz Tomahawk Steak with some Brussel sprouts. Tempting but it was a lot to eat! My parents ate the Calamari Fra Diavolo - another staple! They also gave us Cannoli for dessert as it was my husband's birthday celebration. Light and delectable. Although it was so packed - Always. It means everything is good that's why they have plenty of customers. Handicapped accessible. Tight table spaces but manageable. Very accommodating staff and they are very attentive. OVER ALL! Always an amazing experience. We always come back and enjoy our food.
Beautiful inside and outside. We visited on a busy evening without a reservation but still got a seat right away. The food was great but the servings were huge. The food presentation was fantastic too. The staff was good.
This place was recommended for it's great ambiance and it didn't disappoint. The outdoor patio and gardens are beautiful, especially in spring. The inside is as beautiful as the outside with a giant chandelier that you can't help but look at. There were a lot of great options on the menu at reasonable prices that wouldn't break the bank. The free bread was fresh, warm, and delicious. For a drink, I got the Sicilian Paloma, which was light and refreshing on a warm day. I got the Penne Alla Vodka with grilled chicken. My only complaint would be that there was no parmesan or romano cheese grated on top of the dish, which I would've expected. Overall, the service was good and I have no complaints in that department. I would go back again and try another meal.
Great portions, food is delicious but kind of a long wait even with a reservation ...hard to hear when your name was being called when everyone was crowded around the front of the restaurant entrance. Chicken parm was the husbands favorite. Great flexibility to accommodate a small child's Eating presents
Get ready for your mind to be blown! The experience at Viron Rondo is like no other. The staff were great, the space is enormous with many dining rooms, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere and the menu prices make it feel like a fine dining experience--but with massive portion sizes. You definitely get more than what you pay for and leftovers. I recommend making a reservation which can easily be made on their website through Open Table. My team at work surprised and treated me to lunch (because of a new foodie is coming soon!) Viron Rondo's had been on my foodie bucket list for a long time and this is one of their favorite spots in town. For the table, we ordered the My Mother's Chips. They are known for these and were crispy, perfectly salted, and delicious. They were, stacked high, crispy eggplant and zucchini chips with a thick house-made tzatziki dip. Our server also brought pieces of bread. I decided to get the Fettuccine Lump Crab which was very warm and cozy for the chilly fall day. The light sauce wasn't heavy and the fresh tomatoes, crab meat, and bread crumbs mixed together made it feel like a home cooked meal. It had a good flavor. My plate of pasta was two meals worth. My coworkers loved their food, some of their picks were the Classico Panini, Rigatoni Bolognese, Orecchiette Salsiccia, and Mediterranean Salad. I apologize for the lack of pictures because they don't understand that the phone eats first yet. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and can't believe it took me so long to try them. They are easily one of the best restaurants in the area.
I have been wanting to try this place out for years- my mom, and grandma grew up in Cheshire & know the ins/outs of this town. My grandma perceives this place as "overhyped" but I always wanted to check out the vibe. I went to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday, so I made a reservation for 6:45pm. Despite the reservation, we waited a half an hour to be seated. I was already knocking a star off, but the complimentary salad & bread sold me! So much salad and bread & good quality too!! I ended up ordering the large margarita pizza, which honestly looked like the best value out of the other offerings. It came with so much pizza and the pizza seemed very authentic/neapolitan style. The tiramisu was also super good and moist. Overall, I was impressed with the pizza! I will come back for the chicken parm with vodka sauce at some point! :)
Went during Social Hour and got great deals on apps, drinks and meals! Food was delicious. Server and all staff were attentive and friendly.
How could you not love this place? As soon as you pull in this beautifully landscaped property is like a little oasis. You can even see the view of the outdoor patio from the street. The flowers and the garden like grounds make you feel at peace. Then when you walk in to the biggest light fixture that staples this restaurant you know you're at Viron Rondo Osteria. This spot is always packed, even for a Monday lunch so make sure you call to make a reservation or use open table online. We were seated inside near the fireplace. I must say the tables were very close together though. The lady next to us hit my chair as she was in hers, and the table next to us filled into our conversation. Although I didn't mind, some people might want a little more intimacy. I started off with a glass of Cabernet. The waiter was attentive and friendly. We also started with the appetizer of the famous "my mother chips" which are so addictive, it's a must if you never had. I ordered the chicken parm with a Caesar salad and my daughter had the pollo Milanese. Both portions were huge and delicious. It was my birthday month and because I had signed up to receive emails, I received a complimentary tiramisu dessert with a purchase of an entree. It was so creamy and yummy. My experience is always a good one here at Viron! Love them!
Great service from Danny! Made my niece's birthday very special. She was kind and attentive. The meal portions were large but the food is delicious.

This restaurant is conveniently located not far off the highway. Although you'll feel like you're in a garden in Italy. The greenery outside of the restaurant is so beautiful and on a beautiful day sitting outside would be a must ! I went to Viron Rondo for lunch with my family and we are glad we did. Although I want to be honest for families with little babies and toddlers. This isn't a family friendly spot. There is no changing tables in the bathroom or tables to place bags on in the bathroom. As a mother- this matters to me so want to help someone else out. The inside is huge and spacious though. The food is freshly made to order in nice huge portions!! Everything was delicious. But we did struggle to get our waitress. Service could use some help as dishes weren't removed from the table until asked. The bread that is provided is soft/flavorful and delicious !!! We got muscles for and appetizer and OmG !! So tender and sauce was so good I couldn't stop dipping the house made bread in it. My mom got the pulpo (octopus) for her lunch with a side of jumbo shrimp. Let me tell you that pulpo was tenderrrrr and one of the best we've ever had !! I had the apple salad with jumbo shrimp! First it's the best salad!! And it can last you for 3 days it's so much!! If they work on service I would so give this place 5 stars. (Oh and my aunt was charged for a club soda with lemon- that's another little downfall) but the martinis were perfectly made and worth the money for sure !! read more
We were visiting relatives from out of town and they took us to this place for a Saturday afternoon lunch. Simply excellent. I don't know who these other people are bashing this restaurant like DAWN H. I would ignore her review. Not very accurate these days. Notice that she gives every other venue a one 1 star too. The food in general was very good. Well prepared and very delicious. We did dine outside on the patio which was simply a magnificent atmosphere with all the hardscape and beautiful landscaping. It is like a botanical garden. The service was superb too. Everyone was served professionally and in a timely manner. We didn't sit inside so there could be noise issues. Most people need to get over this. VERY GOOD RESTAURANTS THAT ARE CROWDED WILL MOST LIKELY BE NOISY! I would definitely ignore some of these negative reviews and try this place. Unfortunately there are many whiners and negative people that will post an inaccurate review. read more

Always a great place for a good meal. This time was for dinner. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The food is amazing and the portions are HUGE! I had enough leftovers for TWO nights. I had the chicken marsala. My kid had pasta with meat sauce. My DH had an apple salad with chicken. All so good! read more

WWOOOOW!! this place is absolutely stunning, from the outside patio/garden to the beautiful interior chandelier - Viron is so eye catching! I started off with an apple cider sangria and i thought it was soooo good, the taste was very fall-like and sweet! my friend got the chicken parm and the chicken is literally the size of this MASSIVE plate, so you're really getting your moneys worth ($28)! I got the Chicken Marsala and I was so impressed by how delicious this one, my fork did not leave the plate! While it nah be a bit pricey, you're essentially getting two meals in one, the portions are really really big! The complimentary bread and oil dip was also so good. I can't reccomend this place enough! read more

The outdoor seating was beautiful. It always amazes me how much people they are able to sit outside and never feels cramped. Service was great and sensitive to conversations without interrupting. The food was excellent and big portions! They always seem to hit our expectations. read more

My husband has been here for work lunches and loves it. So he made a reservation for Valentine's day. We arrived on time and already have a hard time with parking. Lots of cars and people walking around the parking lot. We go to check in and there are people everywhere! The walkways, the stairs, the door way. We push our way to the hostess desk, that we can barely get to. At this point I am grateful we have a reservation. Turns out, they are 30 minutes behind at 5:15. We had a hard time finding a place to stand and wait. The place looked like a fire hazard, with so many people waiting at, in, and outside the door. They said they would text us when the table was ready. 30 minutes later, we ask how much longer. We are told, she will ask the manager. Then says 10-15minutes. Finally, after 45 minutes we are seated. Through a very crowded restaurant to a small room, just as crowded. Our table is right between 2 others. We were so close we could hear everyone conversation around us. So much for a romantic Valentine's dinner. Irritated, but now finally seated, after 6:00, we order drinks. I got the Amalfi spritz, which was delicious. And my husband got a vodka and cranberry. Later he learned they used the top shelf vodka, which he said was fine, but it costs more and they didn't ask. The server said she was bringing water. We didn't gey water so we asked for it when we ordered. We were told someone is coming around with the water. We ordered the ricotta to start and it was delicious. Our food came out much quicker than we thought it would. My husband got a filet mignon, which he loved. Cooked perfectly. I got chicken mandala which was good. The sauce was very tasty, but for the price, it was 3 small pieces of chicken. The mashed potatoes we like warm, tasty but not hot. Our server was walking around the small room, not doing too much. Another server filled our water glasses. Other people brought out our food and cleared plates. There were so many people walking around it was hard to go to the restroom or even leave. We did order the chocolate mousse cake. Besides it having raspberry sauce with it (don't ruin chocolate with raspberry!) It was the best item we ordered. While the place is pretty inside. I didn't feel the food quality matched the price...about $200 for 2 of us. And we waited much longer than we sat to eat. While to food is decent, the organization is lacking. There are other places that show more appreciation to their customers. Maybe a week day or lunch hour is a better experience. read more

The service was great, one order was wrong, it was quickly remedied and still hot. Mother's chips are a must for appetizers, one way to get kids to eat veggies! Lots of sun and the main dining room chandelier is always spectacular! Highly recommend! read more
This restaurant just continues to improve with time. The service is very good for such a large venue. You will need reservations for the weekends and punctuality is important as they will give away your RSVP after 15 minutes. Otherwise, no RSVP then wait times can be lengthy. The restaurant has two large bars one indoor and one outdoor. I dined inside due to cold weather. The restaurant is crowded and can get loud in main dining area. There are three dining areas so the outer dining areas are a little quieter. They even have a DJ playing background music on weekends. We started with appetizers the signature Mother's chips and a buratta. Our main meals were pork chop with Brussels sprouts , shrimp fra diablo, halibut special, and lamb chops. Best food in the area bar none! Get the Mother's Chips to start. You won't be disappointed. Meatballs are some of the best I've ever had! Vodka pasta, bolognese, and chicken parm are killers. Chicken Marsala is great and on the lighter side compared to the pastas and chicken parm. The salads are incredible. Never had a bad one! They're huge and meant for sharing. Speaking of sharing, most entrees are available family style easily servicing 3-5 people. Staff works their butt off. Owner too! Desserts are awesome and great people watching at the bar. read more

(Last visited May 26, 2023.) My wife and I have heard so much about this place so on a random Friday evening we managed to snag a reservation to finally check this place out! Here's how it went. Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is BEAUTIFUL. It's also huge AND very popular. Parking was a bit of a nightmare to be completely transparent. There is a parking lot directly next to the restaurant, but that was filled to the max. Then there's like, an overflow lot behind that one, but it's backed up against what looks like shipping containers, a cinderblock factory or something. Lol. It's a little sketch, but we weren't the only ones that needed to park that far away. No worries. Once we finally made it to the exterior host stand we were told we still had to wait for our table to be ready and it was SO BUSY. Like, impressively busy, plus it was really nice out so folks were sitting outside. So there's like 4 different seating areas here. Two of them are outside with one of them being right up against the street, but kinda separated by foliage and such. The 2nd outdoor seating is around the side of the building under a series of different shape coverings which is where we were finally able to be sat. Then there are 2 more indoor sections, but I cannot reiterate how big this place was and how busy it was! Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but from what I can remember, we had little to no issues here. Food: So... we heard the food here was really OFF THE CHAIN. My and my wife's experience differed just a bit. They start you off with fluffy rolls and an olive medley. Everything was delicious and we had no complaints here! Next up we had to try the famous "My Mother's Chips". These are thin, crispy eggplant and zucchini slices that have been battered then deep-fried. They're also served with a cucumber-yogurt dip. These were so phenomenal and I understand the hype, but unfortunately, it was my favorite thing that I had all night... For my entree I went with the Grilled Lamb Chops. These come with parmesan-rosemary petite potatoes, broccolini and a red wine demi glace. These lacked a bold flavor that I was really looking forward to. I've had lamb chops from other establishments with much more flavor than these had. It just is what it is. My wife felt the same regarding her salmon. For dessert we went with their cheesecake that's served with some fresh berries and syrup! This was delicious and an excellent sweet finish to the meal. Value: This isn't a cheap place, so bring the wallet for sure. Our cocktails were $15.00 a piece (I've since forgotten what they were despite the pictures I have, but they just looked juicy in the pictures). My Mother's Chips were $19.00, my lamb chops were $47.00, my wife's salmon was $34.00 and I don't remember what the cheesecake was, but I'm sure it was like $10.00 or something. SO yeah, it was a pricey dinner, but I think it was worth it. The quality of the food was there, just the flavors weren't for us for some things. In conclusion, I liked it here. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5. The parking situation, the price, having to wait so long for a table we made a reservation for and the lack of flavors in some things we ate bring the score down. However, I would totally come back to try some other things though! The atmosphere is off the chain and that was my favorite part of the entire restaurant. read more

YES!! They have a beautiful outdoor space. It does get crowded if you go during peak hours.
Do they ever have live music?
There is no live music but they do have music playing that is fitting for the atmosphere.
Are there any Vegan options? And does anybody know if the mothers chips are vegan (fingers crossed) i know the dip they come with is not.
Honestly don't know , but I do know my girlfriend is Gluten free and she was happy. Im sure they have vegan pizza. Best bet is check out menu and make a call.
Is the outdoor seating heated now that it's starting to get cold?
Yes - nice and warm.
Saying you have vegan options should constitute at least one hot option. When asked what vegan options you offer, I was just told "just take the cheese off". When I pressed her for more info, basically the option is a salad without the cheese?
I'm pretty sure they don't proclaim themselves to be a vegan restaurant. And their salads are hearty and amazing! You wouldn't be sacrificing if you had one as a meal. Maybe start with a glass of wine.
Is the restaurant open on Christmas Eve?
Hi Joe! Looks like they are open now until 10 pm. I'd call for reservations though. That place is full house. Not sure how busy it'll be today but normally it is. Hope this helps.…
