Cute spot, got a pastry and tossed it after 1 bite. Tasted old and not fresh. Ricotta inside puff pastry was just tasting very good.

I really wanted to like this place. I should say I ordered for delivery and did not eat there. I saw on the menu. They had a sandwich that had pickled eggplant in it. It's very rare to find a place that does this. I was excitedand ordered two grinders. One was the Lucky Luciano and the other was the Sicilian. The. Lucky Luciano is a vegetable base with provolone cheese. It was thinly sliced provolone cheese, two slices on the entire grinder. Unfortunately, due to the marinated mushrooms and marinated eggplant. The bread was pretty soaked. I think if they used more cheese as a barrier, this sandwich could've been better. The Sicilian is basically an eggplant Parmesan. I did not care for this in Parmesan however it is edible. The eggplant was sliced, extremely thin that you could barely taste it. Instead of using melted mozzarella, there was one hunk of fresh mozzarella on the sandwich. I did feel that the prices were pretty expensive however, I probably would try the vegetable sandwich again if I eat it in person and ask them to put extra provolone around the bread . A lot of the reviews people love it here so I might try some other sandwiches however I don't eat meat so these were the two sandwiches I was interested in. read more

Their name might be Aventura, but the real adventure starts when the food hits your digestive system. I ordered a chicken and broccoli rabe wrap, which I can only describe as a cautionary tale wrapped in foil. The chicken had a sour tang that screamed, "I've been sitting here a while... come closer, I dare you." I took one bite and immediately regretted every decision that led me to that moment. The broccoli rabe tried to save the dish, but it was outmatched by the poultry with a personality. Then came the cavatelli with sausage. Or as I now call it, "Mystery Meat in a Minor Key." The sausage had a funky aftertaste--like it had been seasoned with expired regret and stored in a humid confession booth. I couldn't tell if the weird flavor was from the meat, the sauce, or some cosmic punishment for trying to eat pasta from a bakery. The only thing that didn't turn on me was the napkin. It fulfilled its duty without any suspicious flavors or emotional damage. In short: if you've recently made peace with your stomach and want to destroy that truce, Aventura Bakery is here to help. We ordered a bacon egg and cheese and sausage, egg and cheese. We also ordered two hashbrowns. We had two small bottles of Tropicana juice as well and the total was $22. The hashbrowns were the small semi round square hashbrowns that you can find in Walmart and they tasted like they were sitting in the refrigerator, they were stale and had no flavor. I asked the cashier if we can exchange them when she went to the back the woman told her no because she had to make them fresh, which I find to be ridiculous because she brought them out in a matter of minutes first time around. I believe the manager, then went up to the cashier, looked at the register and with an attitude said, well, we didn't charge you anyway! Shrugged her shoulders and walked away. I thought that to be rude, considering that we decided to go to them instead of McDonald's or Wendy's and we probably would've had a better breakfast. On a side note, they appear to have an espresso machine, however, only offer half-and-half and whole milk. read more

I can't believe how much time I let pass since my last visit to Avventura's! My husband and I stopped in for lunch, and it was just as delicious as I remembered. They're always stayed consistent, even since their move from Town Plot. I had the Sicilian (eggplant parm), and I would literally drink their sauce if I could! Looking through the bakery displays will never get old - we always can't resist getting a few treats for there and to take home. Avventura's is a bakery and a deli in one shop. The store is very spacious, and clean, with plenty of seating. The deli has a large assortment of items. Breakfast sandwich's, salads, hot and cold sandwich's, soup and sides. Your sandwich comes with a choice of roll, grinder, panini, white wrap, or spinach wrap. The bakery has a very nice selection of cookies, and pastries. We were there for lunch and ordered a chicken cutlet with cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato on a roll, and a turkey melt, with bacon, melted swiss, lettuce, tomato, mayo on a roll. For dessert we had a vanilla pasticiotti and a anisette biscotti. Good sandwich's and a great bakery. I will definitely be returning. read more

You can customize your very own antipasto salad! The bakery is unreal -cakes, cookies, pies, everything you'd ever want. We picked up six delicious chocolate almond biscottis for just $2.29. The sandwich/prepared food counter offers a ridiculous choice of foods with over 30 hot and cold choices in 4 sizes - roll, grinder, wrap or panini. Prices range from $8 to $19 depending on where you finally put your nickel down. They also have display cases chock full of prepared foods- pastas, sausage and peppers, grilled chicken, eggplant parm, meatballs, and plenty of salads. We both went for a sandwich on a roll. My wife ordered a Caprese ($8.69) with plenty of tomatoes and thick slaps of mozzarella. I went with one of my favorite sandwiches - an Italian Combo ($10.79) with big portions of Genoa salami, hot capicola, prosciuttini, mortadella and provolone cheese and veggies. It was outstanding. Both of us have half a sandwich left. And the service was equally excellent, from the young guy who made our sandwiches to the charming woman with the French accent who packaged up our biscottis and rang up our order. Was in the area and stopped for a sandwich. The person behind the counter was miserable, I said hi and she ignored that. Asked what I wanted. I ordered what I thought was a sandwich Lucky Luciano, which was marinated mushrooms, eggplant etc on a roll. I asked if this came hot and answered no. I didnt expect a salad on a roll. I could not find the eggplant, Unfortunately, I did not ask any further questions due to her attitude. My husband ordered a chicken parm on a roll which he said was just OK, and the dessert vanilla zeppole wasn't worth the calories or the money. The one star is due to the absolutely miserable staff person. She was beyond miserable. And for the total of the 2 sandwiches and 1 dessert $40 would expect at least a "can I help you". Another person came on shift, very lovely saying hi, can I help you. I ordered a coffee to go on the way out. The coffee was luke warm I thought was from the amt of cream I get as I like it light. I stopped in today for a breakfast sandwich and coffee & ended up spending $30 because I added some cookies etc. The egg sandwich was fresh and eggcellent! The bacon crispy! Walking distance from holiday inn. Wasn't feeling the breakfast at holiday inn so decided to check out the bakery/cafe next to it. I got the chocolate molten lava Bundt cake because I am a chocoholic :) they will heat up your cake so that's nice. He also made sure it was just right which was nice of him. I do wish there were more breakfast choices like Cuban bread or donuts or something. They have soup, sandwiches and pastries. Not complaining because my molten lava cake was delicious! Came here for lunch. The deli is less than a mile from my job, so, super convenient. All of the desserts immediately caught my eye and I will be back to taste some soon. Since I was in the mood for a sandwich I tried the Italian combo how it comes with oil and salt and pepper. I wish I had asked for some jalapeños to elevate the flavor. As it was, the meats were good and definitely plentiful. My only complaint so far is that they don't have chocolate or Nutella sfogliatelle. They are my favorite but almost impossible to find. My husband and I stopped here for lunch. Sandwiches were fantastic! I had the chicken club which was loaded with chicken cutlets. I also had the wild rice chicken soup and I thoroughly enjoyed that. Usually you find that soups have way too much salt and that was not the case. There was just enough and I would rather add more as you can't take any out. My husband had the deli delight sandwich and he couldn't stop raving about it. He is hard to please so you know he enjoyed it. He also brought home some sausage and peppers. Was searching for a nice coffee shop to relax in and grab a treat after 4 p.m., and to my favor, Avventura was open. This deli style/ bakery is brand new and very clean. The cases were filled with tons of options. They even had a salad bar. There are not many coffee choices, but I have to say I ordered a cappuccino, and it was devine. It was so bold and smooth. It definitely satisfied my craving. There were so many good-looking bakery choices. But, I ordered the Mississippi mud pie. It was a thick, rich chocolate type mousse with an oreo crumb crust and topped with chewy brownie pieces and was very yummy and filling. My daughter ordered the vanilla cream puff, which was huge, and even was nice enough to offer me a bite. The cream puff was light and airy with a croissant like crust dusted with powdered sugar. It was good and filling! I bet their other grinders are good as well. I was sadly disappointed by the chocolate ganache cheesecake. Even with three guys behind the counter the line was long and slow. Not sure I liked meat hot sandwich heated in microwave, clearly with all the foods made there they have an oven! We happened to drive by this bakery & deli on our return from walking on the nearby linear trail and decided on the spur of the moment to give them a second chance. Unfortunately we already had lunch because the sandwiches looked scrumptious. Also unfortunately we purchased 2 more overpriced desserts. A tiny slice of pistachio cheesecake proved to be mediocre. I have been here 2 times now. Clean and well-lit space with display cases showing food on one side (although nothing was labeled), scrumptious looking pastries and baked goods on the other. Restroom was very clean. Staff was friendly and courteous. The salad bar was great to see as an option. It appeared to offer a variety of choices--although I did not get a salad. 1st visit here I got a tuna salad sandwich. Ah, o.k. but would not come back for this specifically. I also got a raspberry shortbread cookie which was pretty good. This visit I got a beef and cheddar sandwich on a hard roll. The roast beef was sliced very thin which I like, but it was well done and flavorless. The mayo used on the sandwich was strange tasting and off putting. Although the sandwich choices were displayed with sizing and prices, I did not see anything about adding a side of slaw, potato salad, macaroni salad. I got a bunch of assorted cookies and they each individually was a piece of perfect goodness all on their own. The desserts I got were the creme brule cheesecake and I tell you I would fly into this area just so I can have this item... it was mouthwatering.... so silky and smooth creamy and delicate super tasty....Amazing. then I had the chocolate vanilla mousse with cream puffs in it.... Why would you ever go to subway or blimpies now that this deli is here! I am happy to have found this place on My way home from work. I ordered an Italian club grinder and asked for it warm, they toasted it and it perfection. The bread is fresh and having toasted it nice and crispy. The price is reasonable for a grinder with the types of meat they put on it. 10 bucks for easily a foot long grinder :) Their display of pastries likes amazing, I didn't get a chance to try them but will be back. This is not a drill. My life is complete! Avventura used to call home Waterbury for the last twenty years. Back in April they closed and weren't able to open back up right away because their display cases weren't delivered in time and were on back order. As of October, that was changed! Every time we walk in, we are always greeted. We have come in with new friends and they always have something positive to say. Everything on their menu is delicious and I have been missing them every day for the better half of the year. My heart and belly are full now that Avventura is back and running. I'm dreaming of my next sandwich, which is the buffalo chicken because no other place compares. Their chicken is breaded and is coated with a great hot sauce. They warm it up and put it on the most delicious and soft bread in all the land with lettuce, tomato, and blue cheese. If you're like my husband and like ranch instead that is an option. read more

Lots of room, lots of food, and the inside is absolutely beautiful. Very modern and classy atmosphere, especially for deli. Their marinara sauce is delicious. Their eggplant is one of the best I've had. It is very light and made the traditional way. They have many (delicious) homemade pastries and deserts.
