I liked this class but didn't love it. I had only done solidcore before for Pilates and overall…read moreliked it better although the classes are very very different. This one was much more "complicated" than solidcore in that I felt like I was moving around more and doing more moves. With that said, I feel like I got a better workout at solidcore overall. I left feeling much more sore and today felt more refreshing/energizing than anything else. The other thing I liked better about solidcore was the class vibe, with the dark lights and music bumping. However, all things considered I liked the SLT instructor better, she was much more hands on and helpful with her directions as opposed to solidcore which was a basically a guy yelling at us and talking nonstop for 50 minutes. The studios are both nice and this one has "lockless" lockers which is huge. As far as I know, solidcore doesn't have that. The machines at SLT were also nicer IMO. All in all comparable classes, liked both and will be back.

I'll admit, I was pessimistic because I''m a judgey witch who doubts gyms that aren't in Manhattan. It was a mat style class, so no barre, but the darker room and lighter impact was much needed. Elliott was supportive & gave great corrections. And Olivia at the front desk was very welcoming, something not all Brooklyn gyms get right. It was up to par with the physique 57 classes I've taken in NYC and I hope to add at least Sundays to my routine. The facilities are also very clean. I'd like to try more classes here but it's a bit of a trek from my house. If you're thinking of trying them out, I bought a "buy one get one free" special on their website that I think is a great value for a newcomer, or old client of physique 57.

The front staff representatives are kind and professional. So far, the instructors are great especially Bella and Natasha. I took the Level 1 classes to get accustomed to the classes and to strengthen my core. As time progresses, I plan to take on the 1.5 and 2 Level classes. I am currently on a 4 classes per month membership and plan to continue taking classes here regularly. The location is convenient as well; located in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn.

The studio is intimate and has lots of natural light. There are cubbies and hooks for your shoes, bags and jackets. Music is played in class but at a low/medium volume so you can hear the instructor's cues. Hands on and verbal adjustments/cues are helpful and it's a good mix of relaxing yet challenging and paced well. I think this is a great workout option, especially if you're looking for something a bit more engaging than a classic mat Pilates class, but something slower paced and more form focused than a more popular, louder commercial studio. Some clothing items and socks are sold there and I believe grip socks are required for class!

They have upper body, lower body, full body and beginner classes. I ended up taking 10 classes total within my 2-week trial and loved every class I took. All the trainers are very positive, high energy and knowledgeable about different techniques. I felt and saw my body get stronger and leaner in such a short amount of time. I am definitely considering getting a monthly membership and have already recommended this studio to several of my friends.

What they don't have is Antonio Pio Fini, Frederico Garcia, Chris Taruc, and Nofar Hagag. Their equipment is top of the line, balanced body studio reformers in pristine condition in a pristine space. The method is intense, challenging, and oh so fulfilling. When you end your workout you feel it, but you want to come back for more and you will. Their pricing is inflexible, but that's because the workout isn't. In all seriousness - she doesn't need to make package deals, because the quality of the workout, equipment, instructions and studio are worth every penny and then some. They are also on class pass so if you are ok with not having as much scheduling variability, you can save money that way by booking classes through that platform. I love this studio. I will be coming to this place until I leave NYC (I'm actually in Long Island and Staten Island, so that should speak volumes that I commute here), or when I am dead.

I'm getting a little soft in my older age though, and know that I need more cardio/aerobic exercise to stay fit, stress-free and healthy, and to keep my cholesterol down. I finally decided it was time to try something new that I might actually enjoy and get excited for -- and thanks to a random Groupon Purchase, I think I have finally found it! M Dance & Fitness is a great company offering up many types of classes at a rotating roster of studios, mostly around the Midtown/Hell's Kitchen area. They've got Zumba, Cardio, Kickboxing, Ballet & Barre, etc. etc. and seem to be adding new classes/options every week. I've so far tried 3 different classes: Be Ballet Buff, Cardio/Dance Combo, and the Better Buns Kickboxing, and I've enjoyed them all! I'm am definitely going to continue taking these classes, as the workout I got was top notch and actually quite FUN which is kind of an insane thought for me. I actually got up on a Sunday morning and did a Kickboxing class and LOVED IT. I never thought I would type/think those words. The instructors are encouraging and fired up, and the other students are always friendly and definitely keep the vibe judgement free (which I'm thankful for, being such a formal-exercise newbie). If you're considering trying a class, I really urge you to. As someone who wasn't sure about the experience, I can confirm I've enjoyed the experience and look forward to these classes for fun, exercise and to de-stress. All 3 classes gave me enough of a workout that I felt invigorated afterwards, muscles aching and asking for more.
