I have been a member for years (see review below) and am going to cancel my membership. The quality of classes has declined substantially in recent months (12 mins of core on your arm and forearm to begin class?), and [[HIGHLIGHT]]they don't seem to value their long term members one bit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They treat you like shit especially the front desk.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was two minutes late to class and was denied entry, after years of being told it's 5 mins and having waited for the 5-min mark before being let in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She argued with me when the right thing to do is to honor a longtime member and ask the other person to leave.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also instituted a ridiculous policy making you wear socks even though for years you didn't have to. This is ostensibly to sell you socks when you forget. They used to say it's a covid policy and I need not expound on how dumb that is. There are so many other studios in nyc. Took my first class at Bodyrok, and I loved it! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The class size was small, which made for a more personalized experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was fun yet definitely challenging -- even more so than Solidcore, thanks to the creative variations on the reformer machine. The instructor was clear and precise with their instruction, and because of the smaller group, they were able to walk around, offer corrections, and ensure everyone had proper form. BodyRok and their pilates reformer classes are the perfect combination of a low-impact and a challenging workout that will leave you sore the next day. I love pilates because it is sneaky like that, where you think, 'oh this isn't too bad' and then the next day you discover muscles in places you didn't even know you had lol. This was my second visit to the BodyRok Flatiron location. The first time I arrived at the wrong studio and they gave my spot away at the Union Square location. Hot tip: Make sure if you're booking on Classpass you triple check where your reservation is and get there at least 5-10 mins before. As much as I was bummed that day because I couldn't workout I'm glad that I did miss the class because I really enjoyed Hailey's class that I took instead. Hailey was warm and welcoming. Working out on a reformer can be very intimidating for new students so I appreciate all the check ins she did before, throughout and after class. The flow of the class was great and the pace was just the way I like it. If you've ever felt like you were moving a million miles a minute at Solidcore and didn't like it, then check out this studio. It's not too dark here and the music isn't too loud. I enjoyed my time here a lot and received a really nice follow up email from the Bodyrok team. I had been a client of Bodyrok's through Classpass for over 1.5 years, regularly attending classes about ~one time per week. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beginning in February 2025 they emailed all clients to ask for you to leave a credit card on file.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ok, thought this was strange but everyone was required to do so so I complied when I attended my class in late February. Two days later I noticed I had a $15.00 charge and a receipt of the charge sent to my email without explanation of what the charge was for. I was not notified upon providing my card that I would be charged or asked to be charged. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I emailed the studio and was told it was a late cancellation fee charge from a prior class that I missed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However - I had booked the class through Classpass and paid a late cancellation fee of $28.00 already on Classpass. When I book a class through a different platform, all payments should be made through that platform and the studio itself should not be making additional charges. I have never had to make class-related payments to studios when booking through Classpass for the last 2+ years, so I was shocked to find this out. Given this extremely negative and shady business practice of charging credit cards on file with no explanation, I would warn clients to check your credit card bills closely for anything unexpected. read more

The side elevator to this place is super small and cramped. There's one small changing room right next to the front desk if you need to change before class. Cubicles for the shoes are near the front desk as well. I tried the BodyRok Sculpt Full Body class with Jay and he's super nice and asked if it was my first time. What I didn't like about the class was that it was my first time as it was for a lot of others in the class that day and he didn't correct our forms and I didn't know if I was doing it right at all. The class was hard and I work out pretty often. There were lots of squats on the reformer, lunges, planks, side planks, and some crunches. Music selection was good though. Gimmicky. Maybe I just don't "get it" but this studio is not first timer friendly. I left feeling like I wasted my time and money. I've taken a number of reformer pilates, HIIT, and barre classes and found this class to be frustrating and annoying. To the instructor's credit, she did give us a short in-service at the beginning of class but once you get started, it's difficult to hear her over the loud music. Her countdowns were inconsistent and it was difficult to know when you are supposed to transition from one move to the next. We were also busy anticipating what was coming next but we couldn't benefit from what we were doing in the moment. No focus on form. With all of the amazing studios nearby, I would pass on this one. Especially when they had the audacity to send me an email offering me a membership for $200 a month. For that much, I will just go to Equinox! read more

Jay C was great. BodyRok at Flatiron was a more intense experience compared to a class I took while in Berkeley. Discovered the Jay C was one of the 1st SLT instructors several years back. He was trained by Lagree so he knows the megaformer inside out. BodyRok has their own reformer that has many similar attributes of the megaformer. I like that the studio is on the second floor and you have a view of the flatiron buildings across the street when you are in the reception area. They have a gender neutral bathroom (one bathroom) and a change closet. You come here for the class. If you're looking for a Lagree style class I.e. intense burn and strength tester, BodyRok will be your spot. read more

I just moved back home to NYC from SF and around the same time -- so did my favorite pilates studio from the Bay! I dragged two of my best friends to come try it with me and we had a great workout. One is an avid and advanced pilates fan and said this was on par with her standard level. We were all sore in different parts of the body the next day. I absolutely love BodyRok! With so many options in NYC it's often difficult to stick to one or two places to actually feel and see the results of your workout. I've taken many other reformer classes but none really compare to the experience, machines and routines (yes, the most effective 40 min of your day!) at Bodyrok. Katie P. kicked my ass in the first two classes I took with her. My ass and obliques were sore for days!! The instructors are all so well trained and I absolutely love the studio space. This is for the instructor, Jay C. Jay is a belittling, condescending and very rude "instructor," if you can even call him that. Rather than helping you and guiding you through the moves, he just calls you out and yells at you. I've attended other megaformer classes, mainly SLT and Solidcore, and they will help correct your form so that you don't injure yourself, and they do NOT continuously yell at you that you're doing it incorrectly. Bodyrok is a good workout, but I rather not spend my money and time here knowing that Jay C is not treating his students with respect. Many of us carve out time from our busy schedules to release stress and have some time for ourselves; we definitely do not work out to get yelled at and feel attacked. Avoid Jay's classes if you can. I'm definitely never coming back here again and hope you don't have to experience what I just did. read more

I've been to Bodyrok while I was visiting in San Francisco, and loved it, so was super excited when they opened up an NYC location. Studio is clean, modern, and beautiful. I've only taken a class from Katie and Jay, so haven't experienced the other instructors but they were very good. Katie is sweet and Jay is tough love (in a good way!). If you like SLT, Flex, or Wundabar and you want to try a new one I highly recommend! Tip- there's actually 2 elevators in case the front one is slow (old building). read more

I came here last week through ClassPass. I had never done a pilates reformer class before, so I had nothing to compare it to. That being said, I had a great time, and it was an incredible workout. Before arriving, I had read on Yelp that the studio was very hard to find, so I came prepared to use my best sleuthing skills to locate it. It's really not that hard. It says on ClassPass, Google Maps, and the outside of the building that you have to buzz the second floor. If you've ever been to a doctor's office in Manhattan, surely you're familiar with the concept of buzzing up to a floor. I will say that there's no advertising from the outside, and I actually kind of respect that. There are two elevators that bring you to the second floor. They're both pretty small, but one of them is straight up claustrophobic. I would have rather taken the stairs to leave, but I was in a rush on my way out and couldn't find them. The elevator I took on my way up to the studio actually opened up into the studio which was a little strange. The guy who checked me in at the front desk was really nice and offered me a towel and made sure the instructor knew that there was a newbie in class. The front desk area smells amazing-- they have a few Nest Candles lit to create a relaxing wait area. There are some lockers for you to store your things during class, but you would have to bring your own lock. Like I said earlier, I can't compare this class to other pilates reformer classes, but I really, really enjoyed this one. My instructor, Sina, was genuinely kind and motivating. I loved her, and she is probably a big motivation for me to return to this studio again. She taught a very tough, but very fun class. Her instructions were clear and easy to follow. Whenever I got stuck or lost, she came over of show me the movements or correct my form. I was sore for the next four days after (mainly in my legs, but I assume that'll be different for everyone.) I'm booked for another class tomorrow morning with a new instructor, and I can't wait! read more

The classes themselves are great. I had an issue with a misleading introductory offer so wanted people to be aware. I don't live in NYC but am in the city 1-2 times a month and I try to go to a class when I'm in town. I purchased an introductory offer -- $99 for 5 classes. Before purchasing, I scoured the offer for an expiration date and didn't find one. Only after making the purchase did the expiration date show up, emailed in the receipt -- 30 days. When you don't live in town this is not a good value. So while I like the classes, I am a SolidCore member and since SolidCore is available in more places, I'll probably just stick to SolidCore classes when I'm in NYC. Unfortunate too, because I was definitely looking for a class that was 5 minutes shorter in torture, but now that I've paid $99 for 1 class, I'm feeling less inclined. I am mostly writing this review so that other people do not make the same mistake I made. read more

If you're looking for an upbeat and challenging workout experience, you will likely enjoy this class. However, I would hesitate classify it as Pilates. There is very little focus on stretching, breathing or proper form. I would more so describe it as a high energy weight lifting class that utilizes a reformer machine. I was also quite underwhelmed with the cleanliness of the studio. The bathroom was dirty and didn't have toilet paper. Also, my machine had a clump of hair on it. This is one of my favorite classes in NYC :) I love Bodyrok! It's definitely challenging/intense and I wouldn't recommend it to total beginners/first timers, but it's such an awesome and tough class. Great music and space, and the teachers keep you working hard all class. I love that it's only 40 minutes because it pushes you to give your absolute all the whole time. I've noticed myself get so much stronger and toned from taking this class on the reg, and it's a great routine to add into the mix to whatever else you like to do for workouts (boxing, HIIT, etc etc) read more

The studio was pretty hard to find as it's on the 2nd floor of a building... if you didn't know the address you never would have found it since there are no signs from the outside and you need to be buzzed into the studio. The lobby is very small and got pretty crowded between classes. I hated how the studio didn't have those lockers with the locks built in, but there was a large window to stare in and out of the studio so I knew no one was touching my stuff. Also the bathrooms are inside the studio so if you wanted to use it before your class begins you need to into the studio and interrupt the on going class which made me uncomfortable, on top of the fact the bathrooms were super tiny and dirty. I did like the megaformers, very simple to use! I have to say, during the class I felt very intimated since everyone there seemed very standoffish and seemed to look at everyone else in the class and it felt uncomfortable being a beginner. The workout itself was really tough which was good because I felt I got my money's worth. I'm glad I tried it, maybe I'd come back! read more

Do not buy a package here !!! Tiny small print terms and conditions - they don't notify you whatsoever that the packages have expiration dates. When asked if I could extend my package a day or two to use up my remaining credits, as I was unaware there was any expiration date, I was rudely told to buy yet ANOTHER package on top of my remaining package from the manager. Take your money elsewhere and get a better reformer workout at a different studio (highly recommend [solidcore]; better workout and definitely better customer service). read more

Just took my very first class here and it was definitely challenging - in a good way! A great strength / core class and forced me to work my abs which I definitely neglect in my routine workouts.
