I just went to CE Salon for the first time last week. I am super picky about who cuts my hair because most of the time I ask for a trim or highlights, I walk out with a mullet or hair the color of a pumpkin. My hair was getting extremely long and since the place I typically go to is very far and my girl's schedule just wasn't jiving with mine, I decided to try CE. I figured, what the heck, my hair is long enough that if they mess up, it won't be so noticeable. I was also encouraged by the rave reviews on Yelp. Still a little skeptical though, I decided now was the time to tame my mane. Well, Yelpers didn't steer me wrong. I am so glad I tried it out! Not only is this place like 10 minutes from my house, but they know what they're doing! Sara was my stylist and I swear, she is my hair soul mate. We had a connection unlike any I've ever had with a hair dresser. She got it spot on! I walked out of there with the best hair cut I've had in like 10 years. My hair feels weightless, healthy bouncy and so sassy! I am in love. Sara (I hope I'm spelling it right, is there an H?) is super sweet! She's young, knows what looks are in and she's just the right amount of chatty. Everyone who works there is very friendly. I was offered water or coffee immediately! This salon is great! I chose to go here for the first time based on the location and reviews I read on here. It was such a great choice and experience. I went in wanting a complete change in color and significant length cut off. I left with the most Amazing look that I LOVE. My stylist was Michele and she listened to all my concerns and ideas and turned them into reality. She took her time to make sure everything was perfect and took extra time to show me how to style my new look! The salon is clean and everyone working there is involved in your experience and genuinely care about giving you the best service! The price was good as well and they carry a great line of products! My daughter decided the night before her senior prom she would like an updo after all! I checked on yelp and read the great reviews. Called 9am the next morning. The owner answered and said they were all booked. She said not to worry, they will figure something out and would call me by noon if there was a cancellation. Called me before 10:30am for a noon appointment. I wasn't sure what they could do with my daughter's hair as her cut was "the convertible" style. My daughter called after the appt and loved the updo! She was so excited and couldn't wait for the prom. She wants to go there for her hair services from now on. I'm going there for my next hair cut and try the place. read more

I was visiting in the Boston, staying with friends, and needed a haircut. I called CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS SALON and they set me up with Mathilda. What a wonderful experience! I have short, thick hair that had grown out and was shapeless and blah. Mathilda gave me a cut that transformed my whole look. She showed me how to style it myself and I left the shop with a hair style that many friends have complimented me on. The ambience of the shop is friendly and young and full of energy. I felt like part of a big family with all the chitchat going on between patrons and stylists. I'm new to the area and needed to have my unruly curly, thin and baby fine hair styled. I put having it done off because I have been sent home looking like Bozo sometimes and St Francis others when in search for a new stylist. Preparing for a vacation, I had to take the leap. Of course, I checked out Yelp first and when I saw this close by salon had such great reviews, I asked for an appt on Friday and when they had a cancellation, booked for Saturday. Michelle did a fantastic job of not only cutting my hair (which has to be done so very carefully when its so fine) but understood my curls and worked with them. I can only speak for Laurel, since she's the only one who has done my hair, but she is a godsend! We moved here two years ago from a big Midwestern city where I paid $70 a haircut (just a cut - not even a blowout) and had one of "The" top people in town. Arriving here I figured a comparable cut would be probably well over $100 just for the cut. Instead, a friend recommend Laurel and I have to say I have NEVER looked back. She does a fantastic job - does exactly what you want with it but adds flourishes of just *quality.* Never cuts too short or too long but it always looks great. I've been going to Creative Expressions for close to 2years now, and before that I had been bouncing around stylists trying to find the right match! Sarah was that match, and I've been happy since. She always knows what I'm looking for and recommends colors/tones that will flatter me most! There used to be a running joke in my family that no one mentioned my hair for a week after my appointment because I ALWAYS hated it. That is not the case anymore, I always walk out of the salon feeling like a beauty queen! Anytime I walk into the salon someone is there to greet me with a genuine smile. I found Creative Expressions Salon on Yelp and read such great reviews that I knew I had to give it a try. I recently went to Newbury Street to get my hair cut but decided to try a salon closer to home. I was a tad bit nervous since my former salon was the best of the best. Unfortunately, my former salon didn't truly live up to all the hype. From the moment I walked into Creative Expressions, the front desk staff was amazingly welcoming. The interior of the salon was bright and cheerful and Carmen, my stylist, did an outstanding job in gently guiding me to a style that was in keeping with my face, yet more modern and sophisticated. I absolutely LOVED this little gem of a salon and will be returning for many more years to come! I came to this salon after moving here from out-of-state and having the same person cut my hair for 10 years - so I was nervous. I have a short pixie cut and was worried about finding someone who could cut that style well. Matilda is clearly a skilled artist and preserved my existing style while exerting her own touch. She cut the back a little too short for me, but it's something we can definitely work on together. The salon was busy and clean, the staff was friendly, and the price competitive. My only complaint (and why I couldn't give 5 stars) is that the salon smelled strongly of bleach (cleaner, not hair product). I moved to MA from FL over a year ago and have struggled to find a hairdresser. I tried this place after reading the reviews and then saw they offered a coupon for new clients so I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did! I had Laurel who actually got my hair looking like the picture I brought in and that hasn't happened for me in years! She was great. My hair is dark and likes to turn red when I get highlights but it is a nice soft blonde now and not streaky or brassy at all. No toner needed either which was great. The blow dry out also really came out well, I usually go home and add rollers or mess with it but I liked it so much I have left it alone. I wish I had a before and after pic. Both my 21 year old daughter and I called ahead and made simultaneous appointments with different stylists. We were both extremely pleased with our results (I got a hair cut and blow dry and my daughter received a deep conditioning treatment, haircut, and blow dry). When we arrived we were greeted with smiles and a friendly hello. They took our jackets and offered tea, coffee and water. The studio was meticulously clean and very professional with plenty of free parking right outside the entrance. I have been bouncing around between different salons for the past few years and feel I finally found a place that meets my needs. Sarah took the time to learn about my hair and my preferences. The result was a an outstanding cut that is flattering and easy for me to style. Instead of rushing through it, she meticulously fine tuned the style and clearly takes pride in her craft. My wait time was very brief and the shop is clean and bright. I've been going to Creative Expressions for years, and I'll never go anywhere else! They're like a family there, Carmen, Annette, Matilda, Haley, Michelle and Sarah... all of them! All great stylists. I personally have been getting my hair done by Sarah for a long time, and she always knows how to make my hair look the best! I have relatively fine hair, but Sarah knows how to cut and style it so it looks its fullest. I'm also trying to get my hair to grow long and stay healthy, she has a great handle on which products to use to keep it growing. I've had my hair colored there numerous times, and Sarah always knows what colors and tones to suggest that go best with my skin tone and natural hair color. The whole crown is super frizzy and brittle and that is something new since I began my time at the salon approximately one year ago. I think my hair has to legit be fixed and go through some sort of treatment- but it will not be at this salon. Owner openly said she switched to a cheaper dye- who he hell says that to a customer. I am glad I know this business takes the easy way out. The owner is shiesty. Also kept sending me emails after I requested not to receive them. Don't give them your email. I usually do my own haircuts. Sounds scary, I know, but I got pretty good at it. My hair is ( correction, WAS) long, and making simple even cuts is not hard. Youtube has tons of videos on that. Today I thought I wanted some help from a professional when I realized I couldn't make the top layers on the back exactly the way I wanted. So I came into salon, and explained my needs. We talked with the hairstylist. Reviewed some pictures, and agreed on shortening the top layers on the back of my head. Note, the length of the hair was below my collarbone, and as the hairstylist noted herself, it was the perfect frame for my square shaped face. Long story short, my hair is now a few inches shorter overall, and the longest layer doesn't even touch my shoulder. I have a think mane, lots and lots of heavy hair. Correction - HAD. It's gone. ALL GONE!!! Little chunks and pieces of what used to be a beautiful head of hair are sticking out in all the wrong places, like if I had been electrocuted. My husband is grinding his teeth trying to keep quiet. Why did she do it to me? Was it something I said?!! The cut is so hideous I am in shock, and trying to figure out how I am going to go outside at all, and how to show my face at work. Feeling like people are really going to laugh at it... I need a wig, or something. Awful... disastrous... avoid at all costs!!!! read more

The stylist proceeded to sit me down, blow off the pictures I showed her- "We can do better than that"- and talk my ear off about how much she loved coloring hair blonde. This was not a good sign. I normally never write a review but this place was amazing! From the time I called to make an appointment to when I left the salon they were so so helpful! My hair is pretty dark and I have been wanting to lighten it for years but typically when I ask for highlights I get some darker brown ones that I can barely see and not to mention the price I paid was crazy. I decided to try out this salon after seeing so many positive Yelp reviews, and Creative Expressions did not disappoint! The salon is glamorous while being very friendly and welcoming. I got blonde highlights with Kaley and she was *fantastic*! She listened to exactly what I asked for and perfectly matched the Pinterest photo I showed her. My brassy blonde highlights are now the platinum blonde I had been wanting for so long. I am normally so picky about my hair and am rarely happy satisfied with a salon, but Creative Expressions is a hidden gem in Lexington. I work in the Lexington area and wanted to get a really nice hair cut, style, and blow dry for the July 4th weekend during my lunch hour. I looked up some of the salons in the area and Creative Expressions had some of the best reviews. I usually don't get my hair styled and normally just cut off the ends when the time comes. Haley was my stylist and she was awesome! I told her that I wanted some layers, but not too excessive since I have pretty thick hair. And i asked her what she would be able to do with it to give it some more shape. She knew exactly what needed to happen. She was able to make my ends less heavy, give it some shape, and frame my face really well too! Haley was fantastic. I would definitely recommend going to her.
