Lucero did an amazing job with my cut, color, and style. She showed me all of my color options and helped me pick the one that was best for me. She was able to mix up exactly the colors I wanted so that my hair is still dark but has a reddish tint in the sunlight. I usually have trouble getting the right haircut because my hair is so curly but she recommended a few changes to my current cut and I couldn't be happier. She blew out and styled my hair when she was done and I couldn't believe how I looked - my hair was soft and flowy and so natural! She showed me exactly which hair products to use and how to use them. I've been coming to Fara for a few years now. I tried many other people in Davis and no one could get my layers right. I have thick, wavy hair, and if it's cut right, I almost never have to style it. Fara knows how to cut it right. When you arrive, she has a lovely smile to greet you, then she washes your hair and it's glorious. She takes her time to make sure it's perfect. I also have my brows and lip threaded by Fara. It hurts, there's no way around that, but Fara is fast and effective so you won't be in pain for long and the results are flawless. I'm not great at making small-talk and Fara never makes me feel uncomfortable about it, she just hands me some magazines and goes to work. I just love her! read more

After reading all the great reviews on here, I decided to go try this place myself. I told the lady that I wanted big curls and showed her picture of exactly what I wanted. The lady nodded and gave me small tight curls instead. T_T Granted, perms never look good on the first day. But even after several months, the perm made my hair Hermione Granger kind of frizzy. I called the lady and she told me I could go back to the salon and that she would help me fix it for free. I told her that I would give her a call back to schedule an appointment with her, however, she did not pick up my phone calls after that. I don't think this place knows how to work with Asian hair and I would definitely not come back again. read more

Went to get some highlights and a trim. My hair has never looked so bad ever! Farideh (I think that's how you spell her name) does not know how to do hair at all. I showed her a picture of how I wanted my highlights and told her to do it soft brown and I also told her I wanted the color to fade up. First off, the highlights turn out to be blonde. Second, there are multiple visible parts of my here where you can see a harsh line to where the highlighting begins. Third, my ends are breaking off and are splitting like crazy, this is after a trim too. When she was done, she even said that she wasn't happy with the results! And she still ended up charging me $110!?! And she had to nerves to say I didn't charge you for the trim! I am definitely not going back to this salon ever again. Beware of this stylist fellow yelpers! I am not saying that the other stylists are bad at their jobs but just beware of this one. read more

I've gone to Creative Hair twice and have never had an issue. The first time I went I had my hair cut by Luz who is the owner. I brought in a picture and she really followed the style I wanted well. The second time I went I had my hair cut by Lucero who happens to be Luz's sister. Lucero was really nice, talkative and made wonderful suggestions to the style I wanted. Fara cut my hair and took a great deal of attention to it. I have never had a perfect hair cut until now. I am beyond pleased with it. Fara was very friendly and asked a lot of questions to make sure my hair was cut just right. She takes her time so that she delivers exactly what her client would like. After moving to Davis to attend the university, I was apprehensive to try out a new eyebrow specialist. I just moved, to Davis, and was looking for a new stylist for my hair. Creative Hair had an appoinment available and I decided to try this salon. Lucero was delightful. She really listened to what I wanted to do with my hair. I wanted a trim and shaping (no severe cutting) as I am growing my hair out. She was very gentle with my hair and very precise with the cut. I left very happy and will definitely go back again. I like supporting local businesses (not franchises). This salon has been in Lucero's family for a long time. The salon attracts all ages. Just like most western hair dressers, they don't know how to cut hair for Asians and don't really understand the meaning of "layers", which DOES NOT MEAN just stacking hair by different lengths! The back of my hair looks heavy and even though my hair is already fewer compared to others. The price is about 1.5 times an ordinary price of a US salon. Not recommended for Asian women. Highly suggest that they remove the "Asian Hair" tag in the 'style specialized-in' section. read more

Jess Hernandez literally gave me my first haircut when I was 6 months old. I am now 44 and he still cuts my hair. Jess is clearly a master at what he does. The haircuts are always perfect, and he is consistently calm, kind, and courteous. A few years ago he gave my daughter her first haircut, and a few years before that, he gave my son his first haircut. He is as good with kids as he is with adults. I got a rather dramatic haircut from Luz several days ago, and I could not be happier. I only had a vague idea of what I wanted (apart from much shorter hair), and she spent a ton of time asking me questions about what I wanted both before and during the haircut. Luz gives me cuts that look great every time and grow out really nicely. There were a number of times complete strangers -- usually women with curly hair -- told me my hair looked great and asked where I got my hair done. I always tell them to go see Luz! Creative Hair also offers the option of making appointments online through their website, which is super easy. I thought her cost of $30 was very reasonable. As a transplant from the East Coast, I paid much more than that for less quality cuts. Plus, the overall atmosphere in the salon is friendly, welcoming, and comfortable. It's super clean, has great music playing, and lively ongoing conversations between employees and customers. Best of all, Luz is lovely and easy to chat with. I've been getting hair cuts here for about six years now. I even moved out of Davis but whenever I visit I schedule a hair cut because I don't trust anybody else to do it. Lucero is so friendly and helpful and has never messed up my hair in any way. In the past, I've had hair dressers that I felt didn't listen to me and I left the salon upset and feeling ugly but Lucero has always made me feel cute and left my hair looking healthy. As a college student, I sometimes wonder if the price is worth it but every time I go I realize it is. Not only do I get a great hair cut, I always leave with loads of advice and information that I trust. In the last year, I was on a medication that caused me to lose half of my hair. Lucero has been incredibly reassuring about my regrowth process and has given me so much advice on how to take care of it, protect it, and grow it out faster! I always leave feeling uplifted and excited even though I'm still struggling with how much hair I lost. When I used to have bangs, Lucero also continuously offered me free trims in between full cuts which I thought was really nice. She's really open to criticism and always makes sure you leave happy with your hair. When she finishes she shows you the look from the back and if you don't like it she'll change it up! super nice! i went to get my hair cut with lucera i think. i was going for a comepletely different look and she was very supportive, reassuring and had good suggestions that I trusted as she seemed smart and knew what she was talking about. She used great products for the wash and showed me on a ruler and in the mirror how short she was going to make it and where she would part it. During the cutting she asked me if i was liking it and if there were any changes she needed to make. At the end she put in some leave in conditioner and blowdried it. Then she straightened it and showed me what i could do at home. She was very sweet and offered advice as to what i could do with my hair while playing sports and how to protect it from damaging. At the end it was only $25 but i loved it and tipped her some also!! read more
