My wife and I recently moved into a new home. The 1st big project that my wife wanted to complete was getting ALL of the cabinets in our home refurnished. (Kitchen, master bathroom, kids bathroom, laundry area, guest bathroom and side hall cabinet) We conducted an RFP with several cabinet painters. After meeting Randy at Creative Wall Designs, he listened to exactly what my wife wanted done with the cabinets and took the time to produce a sample painted cabinet door so that they'd be on the same page. We wanted a white antique look showing distressed areas. We were told that this project would require the usage of our garage. The way his sealed off this staging/painting/drying area was impressive. We were told that from start to finish, it would take about 1.5 weeks to complete. The majority of the time obviously went into the sealing off each area with painters masking tape and plastic along with removing each cabinet door. Randy's team of Bryan and Talia were both extremely professional and courteous. They both did their best to mask off sections of the bathroom and kitchen refrigerator to accommodate our families daily needs. They fully knew that most of the work masking/sealing off each section would most likely need to be "redone" the next morning. It was a pleasure having both of them work on our project. Randy and his team were the best. This is was a clear 5 stars for me! Background: I contacted Randy to paint my family's ancient kitchen cabinets while my mom was out of town for her 50th birthday. The cabinets went from a dark wood to a beautiful cream antique stain in just three days. Some major highlights: 1. The cabinets look beautiful! My mom and the whole family was VERY pleased. 2. They were speedy - promising to complete the work in 4-5 days and actually did it in 3. 3. Randy showed me some sample doors before hand and discussed exactly what I wanted. I felt comfortable with what I was getting into. 4. Randy was very responsive to phone calls and inquiries throughout the process. Some additional thoughts 1. Randy and his whole crew are extraordinarily nice and down-to-earth. I am not basing this review on personality. They could have been grumpy and still gotten five stars. I hired Creative Wall Designs last December to paint our kitchen cabinets. They had a faux "old world" finish on them that was done about 10 years ago but did not hold up over time. Randy and his crew were very professional and spent two days just preparing for the job by masking everything and sanding. It was a huge job yet they did not skip any of the prep steps. This was the most thorough prep job I've ever seen by a painter. I was going to use the old knobs but Randy suggested I purchase new knobs as he advised that it would make the kitchen look brand new. I have had the pleasure to work with Randy and his crew on two separate projects in my home and I am a HUGE fan of their work! I, like another reviewer here, is super picky and I expect a professional service when you hire a professional crew. I feel like I got that. The first project I had was to faux walls in my formal living and dining room areas. I live in a 1937 Spanish home, and he came in with ideas and color samples that helped us enhance the beauty of the textured stucco walls in the formal rooms of our home. I get non stop reviews on the three color tones he blended together. it just feels warmer with the color palette, is not "outdated" by heavy faux work you may have seen in the 90's and is so subtle. Just love it. The second project we hired them to do was such a huge blessing. In living in an older home, not all things can be updated/upgraded without a lot of pain. We found this out when we attempted to update our kitchen cabinets but were quickly corrected by contractors who explained that our dream kitchen would cost us BIG by breaking stucco, and either going with custom cabinets to fit or loosing cabinets to use standard sizes that did not fit into our 1937 kitchen! Randy came out and worked with us to enhance the cabinets we already had in place and to bring some current style to an outdated kitchen. The look is a French/Spanish look with the feeling of built in's (white washed cabinets with darker paint in accent and creases) that make the cabinets look just like the newer coated ones you buy at Kraftmaid!. I have seriously run out of cards to share with friends, that's how many people have asked about his work. He and his team may not be the cheapest on the block to do basic painting, but if you want technique, if want to look like you spent the effort, and money, THIS IS the way to go.
