Our dog was having problems with standing up and walking from sleeping. She seemed like she was having pain. She could not go down the stairs to the ground, needed to be carried down and back up the steps. I called on Saturday night and was told I could bring her in for tech to evaluate or come in on Sunday as an emergency which meant there could be a long wait up to 4 hours. Dr. Karen would see her, and I have had very good results a few years ago with my cat who I thought was going to have to be put down. She's still doing fine. So we went on Sunday, got there about 1:40 p.m. checked in and about 3:30 we were called in. Dr. Karen looked at her and said she could fix her back with chiropractic procedure. We ask that her nails were clipped while there since she was due. When she started to cut the nails, she said "who is cutting her nails" They are all cut wrong, she was only walking on a small portion of her pads. It's like a person walking on the edge of the heel. Naturally effecting her back. She cut her nails and gave her the procedure and she walked out like a different dog. She is now home and pretty much back to normal. read more

He was hospitalized with them for 4 days and when they gave him back he was skinnier and more dehydrated than when he went in. I boarded my dogs here. I can't say enough good things about Carly. However, the billing practice for the vet veterinarian is akin to price gouging. The nail clippings are staggered in prices so one dog is more expensive than the others...? OK ..? I authorize the vet to look at my dog's ear but that turned into a $500+ bill with an unauthorized lab submission (they later retracted )when they were going to send my dog home with antibiotics for a bacterial infection ANYWAY... I complained about the inappropriate and excessive billing for unauthorized services. So, they retaliated by refusing to board my dogs ... I'm going complain about excessive vet care billings. I told them I called around to price shop and I was going to go back to my prior vet for service. (The guy whose business they took when he got into a motorcycle accident and they never advised any of his patients he was healthy enough to take his business back) If you protect yourself from improper billing practices as I did then ....they refuse to board your dogs anymore. I went for an emergency with my dog. He ingested a foreign object which wasn't passing. He became lethargic and visibly very uncomfortable. I must be honest I was skeptical because of the reviews. But every encounter I had everyone was friendly. They took care of by fur baby. He is well and I can't even tell he had surgery. Dr. Karen was kind enough to give me a visual and help me understand what was ingested and why surgery was needed. I appreciate everyone's help we are extremely grateful! read more

We are brand new to the area, and one of our cats had a relapse of a bad UTI a week after we arrived. Creature Comforts squeezed us in for a same-day urgent care appointment - on a Sunday! - and did a very careful exam of our lady, followed by a clear explanation of the treatment plan. The vet techs we worked with were all gentle and professional, and Dr. Karin cares!!! She is very thorough. I was impressed by how many tests were able to be performed in-house, for immediate results. Only one of the tests we needed had to be sent out to a lab. One of the other reviews mentions a problem receiving test results, but that was not my experience - I requested them at our recheck visit, and 2 days later received a link with all of the test and imaging results. this place is an absolute joke I went there with my son to adopt two cats left several messages got one phone call back!!! when I went there to talk to Carlie who handles the adoption no one could find her. how can you work someplace and no one know where you are! my son and I picked the cats we wanted, spent time with them and bounded with them. they sent Carlie a message as I stood there said she wasn't in on New Year's Day she would call me Friday. again no one called so I stopped there yet again for the 3 time so I could talk to this person face to face and again to no surprise nobody could find her, then someone else came over said she was dealing with an issue in another building that the cats got adopted yesterday which was New Year's Day to which they said she wasn't not workin!!!! I honestly don't even know how this place is still in business now here I sit with an upset child who had his heart set on two cats we wanted to give a loving home to. Once again this amazing Veterinary group saved our cat McCartney "Mac" , he sustained a head/face injury from our newly adopted dog. The staff is super friendly - a llittle frazzled but, when you have the numbers that come in here you should be patient. Barbara took care of me and my pup. She was gentle and caring. He had a bad case of fleas. Something we did not deal with on the west coast. Doc Mary is not warm and fuzzy - but, if warm and fuzzy is what you want buy a blanket! She was great with BuddyG. She tried forcing a few pills down my dogs throat - which I knew and tried to explain he will quickly regurgitate. A few minutes later - he did. So I took the pills home and fed them to him the next morning. I had an appointment for 6:20. I parked and waited an additional 26 minutes. Checking out / paying the bill was a bit chaotic as well. All of these things are easy fixes so don't get too crazed. I would recommend that they keep those waiting to be seen - out at the parking areas - informed a little more. Took my cat in for apt for visit before scheduling getting fixed. Was in the visit for 1 hour and 45 min with them trying to get me to purchase extra things . Left purchasing extra blood work for leukemia because felt like they wouldn't take my answer no! They said when I returned for getting my cat fixed it was $50 with the certificate that Monroe animal league offers. Came in the following week and turned away once I mentioned the certificate . The DR. Told me it was that price!!! They did not care ! . I took my cat and left ! Extremely all over the place with prices! I take care of my animals , but don't pressure someone into something! They are outrageous with prices! One minute you are told that the dog food you use is good next minute it is not! Tries to sell you everything even toothpaste for 5 month puppies who are still losing their teeth. Bought all records repeated unnecessary shots and given heart worm pills and it goes on and on after being cramped in a room for over 3 hours was charged over 605.00 it would have been more expensive! My husband was putting them in the car and Mary picked up my puppy by his tail and turned to me and showed me her fingers with shit all over them maybe if you didn't pick him up by his tail and minded your own business instead of screaming for someone to help us you wouldn't have been shit on. I never had the chance to use their services for my cat. BUT I did send them a $50 deposit for the appointment. I had to cancel it for personal reasons and I NEVER EVER GOT MY DEPOSIT BACK OR EVEN PART OF IT. They told me they sent it back but when I checked my bank they said they never got any money returned to my account from Creature Comforts. Not a good way to run a business. But then I understand the IRS once checked them out and found errors in their business. So I cannot say anything about them good or bad. read more

Dr. Karin is compassionate and is honest as to what should or should not be done for your loving pet. She saved the life of our Oscar, and did what was necessary for our Krispy who had a very infected mouth from teeth issues. Our beloved Feonia had to be put down and the vet tec was so very caring. Terrible attitudes at this place stemming from the Drs themselves!!! Theyre still using covid rules as a wedge between the customers who are concerned about their "family" membered pets!!! A 24hr operation should not have the nonflexible scheduling hours they force... Customers are often waiting outside in the parking lot 30+ mins claiming the arrival info was not passed along when its just a cover for absentee-ism!!! The staff was negligent and put barium into my 1 year-old doodle's lungs instead of his stomach. She died a slow and painful death over the course of 2 weeks until he finally passed in my arms. Seriously, just stay away. Go anywhere else. read more

I took my cat there for an emergency. I visited him every day and watched him get worse and worse. My regular vet called me that Monday morning to ask how he made out. I told her where he was and how he was doing and she said, "Get him out of there right now." I went and got my cat. The vet yelled at me and told me he needed to stay. The moment I got him home he started to improve and continued to do so. I remember a vet tech who worked there years ago told me that she was yelled at by the vet for comforting a cat who was going into surgery. What kind of person does that? That vet tech didn't stay there long! read more

If I could give Creature Comforts negative stars I would. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this facility and their group of so called "animal loving staff". Extremely UNETHICAL, UNPROFESSIONAL and ILLEGAL practices. I first adopted my kitten from them back in early May of this year. We signed their adoption agreement which stated that we would return to them to complete all his shots, microchip, and neuter for his first year. This means we paid up front and every appointment for the first year was already paid for. He was 8 weeks old when we got him and they had given us his paperwork saying that they administered a RABIES shot a week prior (at 7 weeks old). The veterinarian Karen Breitlauch signed off on this shot and all his other papers. Our kitten also received many other deworming shots that he would not be ready for until many weeks later. 2 days after we adopted him, he began violently vomiting, was not eating, became lethargic, and his eyes began to glaze over. He was hiding under my bed with his face pressed into the carpet and wouldn't come out at all. I immediately took him to our other Emergency vet and they said he was extremely dehydrated and most likely sick from all the shots he received by Creature Comforts (Mind you, he had unlimited access to water under our care). Our vet gave him tons of fluids and we got bloodwork done. He had also LOST a pound in the 2 days we had him. He became very skinny and you could feel every single bone. We called Creature Comforts immediately, asking them to send us ALL of his records and the OFFICIAL shots that they gave him. They sent us many different documents that were different from the previous ones. They didn't even get his birthdate right on multiple "official records"!! When we called their office to figure these important details out, the receptionist Debbie and others were very short with us, denied that they gave our kitten any rabies shots, and blamed their computer for "glitching". They even hung up on us when they didn't want to answer questions! Even if their computer was glitching, what kind of Veterinarian would sign off using an ink pen that a 7 week old kitten received their rabies shot? The PA laws PROHIBIT kittens to receive their rabies shot under 12 weeks of age. No double checking, just careless, reckless work. We feared that our kitten was going to DIE. If it weren't for our vet at home, he 100% would have. When he was feeling better, we scheduled a date and time with Creature Comforts to take him in to get the rest of his deworming shots. We drove an hour and a half to get to his appointment (we live far away), and when we showed up, they told us that we were not in their system and to come back another day. We were angry and frustrated because we spoke multiple times on the phone to confirm that appointment. They said they were too busy to see us and turned us away. A complete waste of money, time, and energy. Not only can they not keep their appointments organized, but Dr. Karen told her staff to not speak to us outside of work. My friend who worked at their clinic was specifically instructed to NOT speak to us because she didn't like how we asked so many questions about our cat. (Uhh, we were worried for his life and needed more answers?) There were times they sent bills to my home for the shots they had given him. I had to call their office to sort this out every time because it was all already PRE PAID. They blame all their mistakes on their computer system and never EVER take responsibility for anything. No matter how much they messed up, I have not once received a well deserved apology from any of their staff members. If you read any of their online responses to other customers, notice how there is no apology, but placing the blame on the customer. There is so much more that they have done to wrong me, but these are the main points you all should know. Please read the other reviews because we are trying to help you and your pet. You will be LUCKY to receive a professional experience from this place. Please do yourself the favor and keep your pet free from harm by not taking them here. They don't care about you or your pet, it is clear that they are only interested in your money. By the way, Dr. Karen (who owns the facility), is getting sued for tax fraud and multiple customers for various malpractices. Do you really want someone like that in charge of your pet's life? If I knew all this before I adopted, I would have saved myself the heartache and headache and would have never come. read more

I love Creature Comfort's never ever had a problem. There always took good care of my dog and always worked out payments with me.

The staff that answers the phones are horrendous. When a pet is having an emergency and that's the first thing you deal with, it makes a bad situation even worse. The owner goes along with it and backs her staff and lets them act and say whatever they want. They have a clause that indicates if a person is not sweet as sugar to the staff, they will no longer be clients. However, that demanded level of respect is certainly not given to clients; not even at the lowest level. If one chooses to go there with a pet, be sure to have the lowest of standards set because they are NOT going to rise to a level of good, forget about excellence. read more

I know it's long but please read Unless it is a life or death situation I would not take your pet here. I took my dog in Friday evening for coughing up blood. This was the only place with an opening (now I see why). His lungs were filled with blood and they treated him for high blood pressure. Told me he needed to stay there and be on oxygen. Four days went by and I was told every day he was improving a little but still needed oxygen. They didn't update me on any findings or what they were doing for him. Mind you that you only get one call a day and aren't allowed to call to check on your pet. Finally I had enough and went Tuesday morning to pick him up to take him somewhere else. They told me he still needed oxygen made me sign a form that this could danger his life basically and suckered me into spending 250 dollars more on oxygen to go. I get to east Penn clinic 30 mins later. They take him right away and check his pulse ox and advised me it was 98% and he did not need oxygen. Also after being there for only two hours they informed me my beloved pet had lung cancer. So now my sick dog sat in a box for 4 days straight and they wanted to keep him Tuesday evening on oxygen again!!!! Their priority is not your pet or comforting you it is getting the most money possible out of you while your pet suffers. This place should be shut down. What is already a difficult situation was made 100 times worse thanks to this place. And so much wasted money. I will be contacting the better business bureau. read more

I was charged when my dog gum went white, lethargic, brought er in, something was detached from the surgery, still charged extra, and on the way home her incision opened, brought her back. To them it is all about your pet not about how much $ they can make off of you. They took care of my Ponch when he was so very sick. They were so caring not only to him but to me. I have put this review off for sometime but strongly felt I had to make others aware of my experience which disgusted me and broke my heart. I had been bringing my Beagle, Macy to Creature Comforts for 3 1/2 years primarily for heartworm shots and regular annual check ups, unless of course Macy was feeling sick which was very rare. My first negative experience was when Macy contracted lyme disease a year after beginning her visits there. I was baffled and asked them WHY they didn't give her the lyme and tick vaccination on her very first visit. I never got a straight answer. I should have never returned after that. AFTER Macy contracted lyme disease, then they began giving her the vaccination. SMH. I regret I didn't find another vet after THAT red flag. Fast forward to October 5th of 2021. At this point Macy has been brought here for check ups and annual vaccinations and I was NEVER, not a SINGLE time advised by Dr. Karin to have Macy vaccinated for Leptospirosis. I never knew about it and it's protection against infection of the kidneys/liver brought about my urine or feces contact with deer and/or raccoons. On October 5th, Macy came down with Leptospirosis. She was diagnosed with a serious kidney AND liver infection and literally developed a heavy amount of jaundice in her mouth which IS a SIGNIFICANT symptom of Leptospirosis only 3 weeks prior to passing away. Macy died on October 14th. She was admittedly little overweight and 14 1/2 years old but otherwise got around great and went to the bathroom regularly. How does this doctor NOT advise me in 3 1/2 years of having my ELDER dog, Macy, to get vaccinated (75% effective) against a very common danger for dogs specifically?? ESPECIALLY since we live in a rural area with DEER and RACCOONS all around us. I am disgusted with this woman's apparent negligence. Be aware! read more

We took my last dog there to be put down, we made a appointment, then waited in the the parking lot for 45 mins until they came out the first time. They thought she was there was anxiety... shoved 5 of us in a office that smelled of cat urin. Shoved papers in our face to choose a urn for her as soon as we came into the room!!! They didn't give us enough time with her before they put the shot in. They came in unannounced and did it and walked out. There is endless reasons why you shouldn't take your pet here. DO. NOT. About 2 years ago our cat ate fishing line we panicked and looked up those closest emergency vet to us. That being creatures comforts. When we took her there nothing super alarming went off except it had an overwhelming bad smell but I was just worried about my baby. They said she would need surgery to get the string out and we agreed whatever it took. They ended up sending us home and told us they'll call with updates. We got home and never got updates, we ended up calling to get them and the first time they didn't give us an answer so we waited and called again and finally got an answer but they said that they would charge us if we called more than once a day. They told us they would call us with an update everyday. At first they didn't but eventually started to. We were able to visit her while she was in there and we would go everyday. We met Dr. Karen and she was extremely rude and unprofessional. She was talking to us about a cat above ours who had stitches in her nose from an accident and she was talking like the cat was a thing and even made a joke and put her finger in her face. When we would visit our baby looked terrified she hid in the back corner and was filled with slobber and would drool so much which they said was from the medicine, the litter box took up practically the whole cage and she had no where comfortable to sit. They told us she couldn't come home until she eats. After about a week they said they're gonna send her home to see if she'll eat there. We got her home and she instantly eats for us. We called to let them know because they said if she wasn't eating we would have to bring her back. Our baby looked terrible when she got home, she lost so much weight and was not herself. They had us giving her so much medicine a day and eventually our cat wouldn't let us anymore so we called them for help and they just told us keep trying eventually we could not give her medicine, she would not let us so we called for help again and they told us to just stop giving it to her. The doctor said she didn't need the medicine if she was eating and they never told us that, so we were giving her medicine for no reason. They ended up charging us about 3k for all of this and we learned they overcharged us so much and charged us $1500 extra that we weren't supposed to be charged but we got our money back, we had a friend who's cat had the same thing happen and didn't pay nearly as much. Most people at this place were uncaring and had an attitude. They even kept saying our cat was a boy which I guess wasn't a terrible thing but why couldn't they remember if she was a boy or girl. I feel like if we would've left our baby there any longer she would've never came home. I'm thankful we still have her and I'm so sorry to the people who lost their pets due to this place. The only good person we met was a vet tech, I cant remember her name but she had a pokemon tattoo. She was so nice and loved our cat. read more

If your love your animal in the slightest, whatever you do, AVOID bringing your fur baby's here!!! Lately it seems like they specialize in Lying and Neglecting the sick animals that come in to be cared for. My sister brought her Beautiful and healthy 4 yr old dog there as an emergency when she noticed her dog stopped eating. THAT WAS THE MAIN REASON FOR THE EMERGENCY VISIT!!! An X Ray wasn't done even after my sister asked for one multiple times. A poison test wasn't completed but yet they came to the conclusion it was pancreatitis! After them keeping my sisters dog for numerous days (they didn't let me sister come visit and see her dog) they kept reassuring my sister that she was getting better. Day 4 they called my sister to pick her dog up and when she picked her up they told my sister her Dog still hadn't Eaten but they Assume she's not COMFORTABLE with them so they believe she will eat with her at home! HOW DO YOU RELEASE THEY ANIMAL STILL NOT EATING AFTER THATS WHAT THEY CAME TO FIX!?!?! Not 48hrs later my sister wound up driving almost an hr away to an animal hospital where they did an xray and found the issue but it was too late unfortunately. My Sister and Niece are so heart broken and we feel so robbed of her beautiful presence. THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN or at least INVESTIGATED! read more

Do NOT use them! They do not get informed consent prior to doing anything to your animal. They do not give you any discharge or follow up information except a receipt - which led my experience to be completely misinformed. They sloppily put 5 staples in my dogs back (one wasn't attached to anything) to attach a label over a fentanyl patch. (This isn't my first dog to get a fentanyl patch, even my 80lb foster dig had one after her knee replacement - NONE were ever stapled TO the dog!) My dog (Chihuahua) sprained his leg and instead of giving him a mild pain reliever they gave him not only a fentanyl patch but also injured him further by stapling a label onto him - which affected how he walked so I could not monitor his injury/progress correctly. They never told me it would be stapled to him. When he was returned to me and I questioned the staples - I was told it by the tech "it was stapled to the patch not him and it can come off in 4 days." On the fifth day I went to remove it- pulling as I would a bandaid stuck on a hairy arm... he screamed and that's when I saw it was stapled TO him! As soon as the staples were removed he began walking normal again - went up and down the stairs no problem. They not only misdiagnosed my dog - they unnecessarily hurt my dog and drugged him up to a surgical equivalent. GO ELSEWHERE. read more

In response to the other review, i have had an entirely positive experience with Creature Comforts. My cats have been patients of Creature Comforts for about three or four years. My old beloved cat did pass there, but it seems like he had cancer & Creature Comforts provided him with good and kind care during the final stages. My current cats go To CC. Dr. Dan fixed my male cat's Stomatitis. The poor boy could barely eat anything before surgery as the disease kept his gums infected. After surgery, he's goofy, playful and a bit chubby. So he's healed. thanks to Dr. Dan!!!!! Dr. Abby has been working with my sickly little cat boy Teddy. Dr. Abby is very patient & sweet. I'm confident that she will get Teddy (who came from a hoarding situation) in good shape. A few notes about CC. There is a little cat named Dumpette who was "dumped" by some cruel people into a dumpster. Creature Comforts accepted her as a potential adoption csndidate, but she has health problems. She requires special medical care and now lives at CC. She is the semi-official host of the business. She's a real sweetly. It's a bit crazy sometimes as the building's physical layout (former post office) isn't ideal for a vet (and they are extremely busy). Its a basic vet in that regard-not a spa with high overhead and higher fees. It's just a active vet business and being a 24 hour per day hospital in itself creates some chaos. Dr. Karen is the owner and very nice. She also has a great sense of humor. All of the vets, techs, and staff have been uniformly kind. The best part-besides excellent care for my animals-is that prices are very, very, reasonable. Love y'all!!!! read more

Took my 5 yr old dog in that was throwing up. They told me they had to put her down. By the time I went to the car and back to get my hubby they said they could save her. What an ordeal! after 1 week on IV they said come get her. I did ..... an hr after I got home they called and said it was a mistake she was NOT supposed to be released. I drive an hr back....after another 4 days they finally say she has cancer and they will do chemo. 2 days after 1st chemo they say come get her. She suffered 24 hrs of pure AGONY untill they reopened and we could get her back there to be put down with a HEFTY bill. I think they kept her alive for 2+ weeks just for the money. Over priced, hectic, more about $$ than your animal. Staff isn't friendly. Brought several animals here spent thousands over the years. Multiple vets never have the same one. Had to bring one dog back to repair stitches she chewed on. Vet stapled it and dogs leg didn't heal, dog had to under go another stay and surgery, diabetic dog and no thought to cost for owner chose every high dollar thing possible! Made it very difficult to live with. Do not go here. read more

The staff is absolutely rude. My family has been coming here for over 40 years because we like Karen and the hours of the practice. But I'm so done!! Such a rude staff and they lack compassion. How can you lack compassion at a vet office??? Seriously?!!! read more
