This trail connects to a few parks and it's easy to find parking near one of the parks. We walk the trail all year long and it's well maintained. Sometimes you'll get some leaves or fallen branches, but otherwise it's great for walking, running, or biking. Be careful during the summer if you have pets, the pavement can get hot. When it is going to be an over 80 degree day we try to only take our dog our in the early morning or once it starts cooling off in the evening.

For the longest time I did realize how extensive the roads and parking is into this area as generally my entrance into this park is off the Bike Trail. It makes a great stop for picnics or for a quick restroom breaks. Activities: There are a lot of open fields, picnic areas, and water areas to explore off the river. One thing is that I would caution exploring the waterways around here as they can be deceptively fast and dangerous. There is also a great handicap accessible fishing areas off the farthest parking lot. Great for working and watching the waterway from the Harold Richy memorial bridge. Cons: It is a self-pay park so important to keep in mind. Can be a little hard to find but is straight down Arden Way.

The kiosk was staffed on a Saturday and the entry fee is $7 (cash only.) Lots of parking and the trail is easy to spot from the various lots they had available, There were a variety of picnic areas, bathroom facilities and walking trails. It's close to neighborhoods in Carmichael, which is nice for people who live nearby and can walk right over. Access to the bike trail was my main reason for visiting and the trail itself warrants its own review. Minus one star, as having an option to pay entry by credit card would be nice. I mean, who has $7 exact change that they carry with them these days? Anyway, I would likely use this park again for a jumping off point for trail rides. Nice, clean, scenic suburban park.

There were a good amount of volunteers who knew what they were doing and got right to work planting shrubbery around the park. My son and I picked up trash but were pleased that there was not a lot at this alert-clean and beautiful park! (We did find evidence that local neighbors had done an Easter egg hunt and didn't successfully find them all ) Decent amount of street parking around the park. Large shaded space for recreation and a large playground for the kiddos when it's not wet outside. No bathroom, which is common, we've noticed, for local community parks in this neighborhood. A quick drive to Starbucks or Bel Air if you need a quick break.

This is a nice little gem that's…read moreperhaps not very well known, but being it's on South Land Park Dr. a thoroughfare that connects SLP off Florin Rd to the Pocket area, it's actually strategically located. It's right next to the former Lisbon Elementary School, now a charter school named Yav Pem Suab Academy, a bilingual Hmong and English school. In any case, this park has a lot of wonderful mature shade trees, providing lots of needed shade on hot summer days in Sacramento, and a decently nice playground. My kids enjoyed this park when they were little, and now when we drive past, we see little ones play on the structure. There's also a nice walking path that winds throughout the park and a few sitting benches for just relaxing and bird-and-people-watching, or perhaps if you wanted to just sit quietly in your own thoughts or read a book there's plenty of seating to do that. There's plentiful grass for an informal soccer game or a volleyball game if those are to your liking. In any case, this park is usually not so busy and although there's not any bathroom facilities here from what I recall, it's close to Bel-Air and the shopping plaza (about 5 minutes drive) there so it's definitely a good park to play at or relax in. The quiet and safe neighborhood it's in also makes this park one of the better ones in the Pocket area.

As you walk around you can view different trees, plants, flowers, and statues and memorials. We love taking our dog with us and often walk through the city, get a coffee, end up in this park, and then head off on another adventure. It's a great way to get a nice walk in and enjoy a bit of nature in the middle of our bustling city.

Today I took a few steps on the Capital Loop Trail and then due to the rain I took a shortcut…read morethrough the park. The Capitol Park Loop Trail is a scenic, easy walking and running trail. There are few people that run, but during the work week it's hard as so many people are walking the loop. If you want to really get a good run, I suggest you do it off hours or on the weekend. The park is 40‑acre. It offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city while providing close‑up views of the California State Capitol and its surroundings. The loop is Paved concrete, typically at least 6 feet wide, thus it's ADA assessable. Beware they are doing construction so some of the loop has been cut off by barricades for the safety of all. This means that if you are on the loop you have to exit to the other side of the street to meet up with the loop later down the trail. If you are into counting your steps like many people who work in downtown Sacramento are the loop is 1.1 miles (1.8 km). Don't forget to turn on your smart watch so you get all the credit. Opps !! I forgot to turn on my iwatch to outdoor walk for my walk at lunch today. Don't worry about climbing hills on this look as it's relativity flat, with a less then 1% grade. With that being said it's perfect for most wheelchairs, strollers, and mobility equipment. Depending on your pace it will take you between 0.5-1 hour for a leisurely walk. A few years back when I was working downtown full time we used to walk around the park once a week. It was fun times back then. Our boss would accompany us on the walks so if we kept up with him we didn't have to worry about getting back late from our break. Those were the good o' days.

This was such a nice stop during our visit to Sacramento this past weekend. We're usually on the…read moreother side of the water in Old Sac, but wanted to check out the park and get closer to the river. The water levels were definitely high, with concrete pathways leading directly  into the water at some parts. But there is a public dock designed to rise with the water, so we were able to walk along the pier to enjoy some of the views while standing over the water (Old Sac waterfront, Delta King, Tower Bridge). We even saw (and heard) sea lions jumping onto the end of the dock, stretching out, playing, and relaxing, it was adorable! Back on land we walked along the trail on higher ground, watched the geese feasting on the plentiful grass, and admired the trees and nature all around. We even passed by the Subtile artwork by Federico Diaz and loved how it fit into the surroundings. The park and trail provided a calm and simple environment, and was clean for the most part (though underneath the bridge seemed a bit uninviting), and we appreciated every moment of our Sunday afternoon here. Parking was free and easy on Waterfront Place, near the Ziggurat (pyramid looking building).

I'll definitely go back though.
