First time here, it nears by home but never get a chance to visit. It was about to rain so its nice that they are all sands not grass. My pup enjoyed this park she literally run around, its actually huge they have scooper for poop on the side thought thats cool. I liked there is a park for kids also. Lots of space for parking. I Brought my dogs to the University dog park today and I must say I was a little skeptical at first because it is a portable Petsmart dog park with no separation between large and small dogs. The park is well maintained and is conveniently located right off the American River trail near Howe Ave and College Town underpass and a entrance on University ave. The Dog park has a picnic area with BBQ grills and University Park is directly across the street in you have young kiddos who want to play at the playground. The Dog park isn't as large as others but it's a cute little area from the fur babies to tire themselves out and that my dogs did. I highly recommend bringing your own water as the water fountains do not work. They do provide dog bowls, toys etc.. I can't wait to bring my Yorkie's back to play at this park again! read more

Nice little park over by the river. There is a huge park across the street for the kiddos. On this side is a huge dog park and plenty of picnic tables, trash cans, benches inside the actual dog park. There are two separate sides for small dogs and the large dogs. My friend and I stopped off to get out of the house and get some fresh air. It's a total mix bag here. I have 2 shibas so they both enjoy playing with each other and with others. I've been going here for a while now and when ever I'm here and I see old people, like in their 70s or so, I always have to make sure I leave the park. Most dogs here are totally unsocialized and have really mean owners. My pup tried to play with this old guys dog and he got so mad at her. He tried kicking my girl and chasing her in the park, of course it made me chase him. He then proceeds to yell at me saying he didn't want my dog to play with his dogs. Like its a fucken dog park. Don't come here. Lots of crazy ass people that have unsocialized dogs and themselves for that matter. read more

Cute water fountain for the doggies and humans too if ya forgot your water bottle. We stumbled upon this park yesterday and just had to bring the dogs in today and check it out. It's a clean dog park in a great neighborhood and can even see it right from the trail. Located directly across the street from University Park and right off of Howe ave conveniently located. There's only one big area for all sized dogs which worried me but nobody else is here so my dogs are having a blast. This is a portable dog park brought to you by petsmart with some benches and a nice shade tree so it gives you a chance to cool off or catch some sun, whichever you like. There's also a cute cherry tree inside if you feel like picking some cherries. Right outside there's a bbq area with bbq pits and about five tables so you can even bring the whole family and enjoy yourselves while the dogs have a great time. There's even balls and toys inside of you forgot to bring your own. You have got to bring your own water though because the fountains are broken so keep that In mind. Plenty of grass and running around space to make your dogs happy and tire them out. Not a bad place and close to the house so we will definitely be coming back. read more

Watch your dogs feet!! While I was glad the city decided to finally clean up the park and get rid of the massive pot holes that I witnessed dogs hurt themselves in, the decomposed granite they decided to put down was not the best choice. After just 10 minutes of playing ball, my dog began to limp. The flooring they chose completely ripped up my dogs feet. 3 out of 4 paws were ripped and bleeding and I had to take her to vet the next morning to be treated. read more

UPDATE* So the dog park is nice but beware of this middle aged couple that comes in with their brown/white cocker spaniel. I've been coming here for over a year and pretty much every time I come, they are there ...making people extremely uncomfortable. If this was an isolated event then it would be no big deal and I would ignore it, but this they are here often. First off, my 40 pound border collie is my service animal. He doesn't care about the small dogs, he doesn't want to wrestle them, sniff them, or even acknowledge their presence. He listens to me and plays with his tennis ball. If I thought for a moment that he would trample another dog, I wouldn't bring him over there. Now, for the reason I am even on the "small" dog side. I have a mini schnauzer and he loves other small dogs. If I am there alone, what am I supposed to do? I have a medium sized dog and a small dog and the one that likes to socialize is my mini schnauzer. Most people that go to this park are great, they mind their own business and trust that people will control their own dogs. Not these two. They both walk around like they own the dog park, making everyone else terrified to come near their precious dog. If your dog even runs near their princess, they will freak. As soon as we walked in the gate he started his passive aggressive comments and harassment. His wife proceeded to take photos of me and told us that someone gave them the authority to take pictures of the person, their dog, and their license plate so that we could be reprimanded. INSANE. This is a great dog park for small dogs.They have 2 areas: one for small dogs up to 25lbs and one for large dogs. Parking is free and on the street. There is plenty of parking! All the dogs and dog owners were very friendly here. I didn't have a chance to enter the large dog area, but the small dog area was fun, friendly, and active. We were dog sitting for a friend and she said we should take him here to tire him out. There is a lot of room for dogs to run around and get their exercise. There is a water fountain for dogs and humans located inside. The dog poop bag dispenser was empty. An improvement is to add a few extra benches for people to sit. I also thought of bringing my own folding chair if I come again. We went in the evening and it was pretty busy, but not overly crowded. If you have a dog then you should try this place. Make sure to bring your dog bags with you and have fun watching them play. read more

I love bringing my doggo here to play. The separate areas for large and small dogs make it easy for everyone to be comfortable. I haven't had any issues with negligent pet parents either. There is some nice long grass up on the hill but it's covered by a tree that keeps it moist. The small breed area, is almost the exact same way. She started to act like she couldn't understand a word I was saying, I was asking her to leave and she wouldn't, she walk gawking at me and my boyfriend outside of the park, saying "this has never happened before", then started to accuse my 8 month old puppy. Overall, this was a good dog park. They have a nice, separated area for small dogs (under 25 lbs.), and overall, it was clean. I like that it's primarily grass, and that it seems well-secured. I always worry (just a bit) about the fence enclosures when they're not the solid, wrought-iron style, but it seemed to hold up well, and be attached pretty securely all around the perimeter. The only thing that would be nice is if there were clean-up bags available in the actual fenced-in portion. It's a hassle to go out to the single location and get them, and then try to track down the fresh land mine. Luckily, there was a nice lady with her small dog there, too, and she offered me one of hers that she had brought. Great park very nice and clean. It is located on a busy street and the freeway overpass. But overall the surrounding area of the park is very beautiful. They have two sides one side for large dogs in the other side is a small dogs. I do like that aspect but I also like my dog to interact with bigger dogs sometimes as well. We went on a Sunday around 4 o'clock the weather wasn't too bad there was shade around the area. This was the very first park I took my dog to. It's a nice place to have him socialize with other dogs. The owners are all very friendly on the large dog side. The small dog side is also friendly, I would take him there when he was smaller but still bigger than the small dogs, no one seemed to mind him. The cons are this park is very small compared to other parks we've been to. There's a lot of dirt, little grass, and always seems to have mud puddles. My dog happens to love water and mud puddles which means every time we would go to this park, he would come out covered in mud. Usually I'd just bring a towel and be fine however last time we were here, he got sick from drinking mud water that had feces in it (I try to not let him drink the water but I can only control so much). My dog had diarrhea for a week and had to take antibiotics for a parasite. They should provide a shovel for dog owners to fill any holes their dogs make if they like to dig. Unfortunately after our last experience, we won't be coming back here. read more

I bring my dog here a lot as its close to my house, and there are always a good number of dogs to play with in the evenings. The small dog side is larger than the big dog side, which is a bit odd but it doesn't seem to stop the big dogs from running around and having a great time. So far I've only had one time here where I've felt the need to leave because a couple owners were not keeping their dogs under control. I feel like it was a one off night because in the couple months that I have been visiting the park, it was the first time I have run into those people. This park is so small. There is no grass. It's all mud and looks like little to no maintenance. I tried to go when it was not busy but with more and a few dogs there just isn't the space for them to run around and have a nice time. Recently moved into the area, was hesistant to go to this park, but my brother suggested we go since it's alot closer. Few of the elders with small dogs are so rude. This lady told us her dog was threatened by our dogs when all they did was sniffed each other, and her dog was a little nervous and startled by us. Then, she said that this side was for the small dogs only, which was so odd because anybody with common sense would think the bigger side is for the bigger dogs. Plus, another lady with a small dog was on the the smaller park and before that, a husky and some bigger dogs were on this side that we were on. Seriously lady, if there a bunch of big dogs, they aint gonna fit in the smaller side of the park! I came here today for the first time and I was VERY impressed. There are two separate sides, one for small dogs and one for large dogs. I went around 1pm and there were LOTS of dogs there, about 5-6 on the big dog side and 6 on the small dog side. The grassy area was poop/ hole free so it was safe to walk around and it is also very large! I went to the small dog side and it was more than enough room for my toy poodle and her new friends to run around and play. I wish this park was closer to my work or my house but nonetheless I will be making this my new "go to" for dog parks. read more

I come to this dog park almost every evening. There is a great core of dog owners here who are genuinely nice and friendly. The sides are spacious, the fences are tall, and the areas are mostly grass. Caring park folks bring dirt to ensure any holes dug by the dogs are filled in. There are several benches and a water fountain for both humans and dogs. The only things to be mindful of are to bring your own bags and to protect yourself against the mosquitoes. read more

This is a split dog park. It did seem like most people took their dog to the big dog side. There aren't any poop bags but there is a pooper scooper. On the small side, it was mostly dirt which I think was suppose to be grass. read more
