Well selected wine list and food menu. The chicken was standout! Definitely top roast chicken in the city. The fries mimic the perfectly crispy outside and soft inside of the breast and skin on the dish. Service was a bit stuffy but I guess that is par for the course in Fulton market these days.. that said they tried to be family friendly in seating us in a booth with our toddler but made zero other accommodations for our little.

OK, yup did not disappoint!!! Thankfully, we got to go here for supper club because I've been wanting to go here since it opened. Everything was a hit! We tried the sunchoke croquettes, Brie bites, Gem salad, Chicken dish, Fries, gnocchi, Beans and butterscotch custard. My favorites were definitely the croquettes, the gnocchi and the bites because they were so flavorful & had a decadent profile. Genuinely thinking about when I could go back and get those dishes again. I also got the vesper batch martini. Something to know is they do not have a full bar, but they have around five drinks and many wines. I agree with the reviews that they take the idea of a French bistro and reinvented in such an appealing a new way. I feel like, especially in Westloop, it is hard to feel inventive and different, but somehow they do that. Yeah, atmosphere almost feels like an old 70s deco Home and it really does have slightly creepy vibes. Even down to the service, they were very monochrome fits, and the whole appearance is slightly offputting, which matches the energy of the place. I appreciate what they're doing here and honestly, I'm 100% on board- would go back!

The name caught our attention and we were able to make a same day reservation to try this a try. The menu is very interesting with the different choices of ingredients and sauce pairing and I must say- they do an amazing job on the sauces on every single dish. My favorite has to be the celeriac dauphinois w/ escargot; the creamy buttery flavor is so perfect with the escargot topped with thin sliced of potatoes (I believe). Could not get enough of it! My second favor was the gnocchi. Again surprised with with the delicious sauce and the crispy top layer gave it an extra interesting texture to every bite of soft, spongy gnocchi. Other dishes we tried were roasted carrots, saucisson, and blanquette de veau. They were tasty but not my favorite and honestly wouldn't get it again if I were to visit again. Overall great experience with amazing service inside a well designed restaurant.

Visited Creepies, really mixed experience. The vibe and concept are fun, but execution was inconsistent. The crepe had a burnt brown butter taste that overpowered everything. Salad was just okay, and service missed the mark with no soda refills and cocktails are pre batched. On the bright side, the gnocchi was really good and the pork with mustard and pistachio dish was a standout. Overall, some strong dishes, some misses. Just didn't fully come together for me.

Creepies has a great atmosphere and I think the branding is so fun. I loved the branded plates and the Sabre silverware is a nice touch. Overall, service was great and the waiter seemed really knowledgeable about everything from the wine to the dishes. As a general note, I wish the food was hotter in temperature. We had the gougeres and they were delicious but they were just warm and I think they'd be better hot. The mussels had a great flavor but the foam was interesting. The gnocchi was very good and so was the chicken. I really liked the sauce the chicken was served in. For dessert, we had the butterscotch custard which was really good! I liked the lemon but it is lemony if you don't like that.

We shared: 1. baguette soft serve w/ chocolate & brown butter crumbs 2. saucisson w/ puff pastry & pistachio 3. roasted lamb w/ swiss chard & herbs de provence 4. tarte flambé, tavern style 5. roasted chicken w/ liver & wine sauce 6. savoy cabbage w/ whipped sesame cream We started with the saucisson and tarte flambe. Saucisson was tasty, well executed, a fancy sausage roll. Tarte flambe was cracker thin crispy and super flavorful. So good I wish it was thicker like a pizza. Savoy cabbage was mild and light which I appreciate on a "salad". The signature roast chicken was okay, I've had juicier chicken but the sauce was fantastic. The lamb was excellent, big, juicy, and flavorful. Baguette soft serve was a satisfying and perfect end to the meal. Waitress was friendly and helpful. Ambience is nicely lit and not loud.

Cute new addition to the west loop! Loved the vibe in here it was elevated but still cozy. Our waiter was so great he really understood our vibe. I'd opt for getting a wine vs cocktail as they told us there's no in-house bar. Most of the dishes were great, and all things we've never tried before. The carrots we could have passed on as they were too sweet, and the celeriac was so rich it was overwhelming. The lamb was perfectly cooked. The baguette ice cream was so fun and one of my favs of the night. Overall it's a bit of an experimental menu. Everything was good but I wasn't blown away by everything.

We had a lovely dinner here, the 4 of us. We had all the things! If I go back, I'd order the same things. The warm Brie gougeres were little dough balls w melted Brie inside UGH so good. The saucisson w puff pastry was actually one of our favorites, which I was surprised by bc it looked sorta crazy lol we also had the croquettes, the tarte flambé, steamed mussels, Parisian gnocchi, roasted chicken, fries, savoy cabbage. I'd say the thing I could've done without is the gnocchi. The mussels, savoy cabbage and fries were FIRE, must get these items every time! There's easy street parking right in front of this restaurant. Our server was fantastic, helpful and not pushy, but friendly. I'd suggest people don't reserve the "bar" bc calling it a bar is misleading. The bar is attached to a wall so ppl who sit there have to eat facing a wall, very odd. But anyway, it was an excellent meal for us!

If you're looking for a fun new spot in West Loop, Creepies is definitely worth checking out. The vibe is playful yet interesting, they efficiently utilized as much of their space as possible. You can tell a lot of thought went into both the menu and the atmosphere. The food is creative, the wine list is tasteful, and everything we tried was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. Great for date night or catching up with friends at one of the bar seats. Don't let the name fool you, nothing creepy here, just really good food and service. Would go back.

Creepies was a great place to have an intimate dinner with friends. Our waiter was so lovely and personable, he gave great food and drink recommendations and frequently checked in with our table. Everything was comforting, well-prepared, and delicious. I expected a lot of these dishes to be rich and indulgent, but they did not bog me down. We ordered the brie gougeres, little gem salad, tarte flambee, parisian gnocchi, chicken, and raspberry meringue cake.

Something happened tonight at Creepies Restaurant that's only happened to me five or six times in my life: My wife and I ordered five different items off of their extremely attractive menu, and at the end of the night, we couldn't name our favorite dish; all five were exquisite. I'm not blowing smoke here - all five items we ordered were "perfect" (a word I seldom use). Wow - that's just how good Creepies is. So, not counting all of the four hour, prix fixe menus, that are extremely expensive with Michelin Stars we've eaten at, only a select few restaurants (out of thousands) had the distinction of serving a flawless meal: Creepies here in Chicago (of course) Lilia in Brooklyn Mandolin Aegean in Miami Bistro Na, Temple City, California Osteria La Caletta in Tellaro Italy The Spiral Staircase -Dublin Ireland and (maybe) a couple of more restaurants that were able to pull-off this kind of perfection. We had at Creepies: * Oeuf mayonnaise w/ caviar, chive & espelette * Sweetbread schnitzel w/ ravigote & pomelo * Fjord trout w/ salsify, buttermilk, & buckwheat * Shrimp w/ remoulade & chicories * Salted cherry sherbet & stone fruit meringue cake w/ buttermilk & mace I / we just couldn't pick out our fav dish, as each and everyone was just so damn good! The staff here were totally qualified in the art of making your time spent here be ideal. The ambiance was a stylish French Bistro motif which was quite comfortable. And, the noise level was subdued which made me very happy. Creepies had a lot of "Hype" going in the last few months that has caused a certain buzz; these nice people wholeheartedly deserve it!

A recent establishment by David and Anna Posey and it's already a new favorite on mine (and my friend's!) i felt like i fell right into a small contemporary art gallery with the cheeky doodles / characters featured on all the dishes and decor on the walls when i walked into the restaurant right next door to elske every plate that was brought out (as you can tell from the pictures) was like edible art pieces, except we could interact with it and have it lead us through the story of the restaurant the steamed halibut was cooked to absolute perfection...the fish seemed to be almost glistening when we broke into it. and the sauce! though a bright orange color, it was so light - didn't overpower the delicate taste of the halibut at all i really enjoyed the corn succotash crepe as well, especially the creamy sauce that came with it. in my opinion, if the edges of the crepe could've been a little bit crispier, and a little bit more of the corn filling inside, the dish would've been perfection. baguette soft serve was such a fun way to end the meal! baguette flavor could've been stronger (could only feel a hint of a toasty flavor at the end) but the brown butter crumbs laced in the chocolate shell made the dessert feel like a (huge) ferrero rocher

This good was SO good. The brie puffs are actually insane. I could have eaten 14 orders. Highly recommend the chicken and the gnocci. The service was awesome and the food came out pretty quickly. Vibes inside are also great!

Be sure to make your reservation in advance because you will not be seated without one due to its popularity among both locals and tourists. We come here every time we visit Chicagoat. The food is absolutely amazing. We had the following dishes: 1. Roasted Pig Face Straw fries topped with roasted pork face, a sunny egg, and a collection of magical sauces that somehow transform into pure comfort when mixed together. I don't even know exactly what's in the sauce, but I don't need to know. This dish is divine and an absolute must-order. The crispy fries, rich and tender pork that practically melts apart, silky egg yolk, and savory sauce create a dish that is indulgent, comforting, and ridiculously delicious 2. Green Beans Not featured in the photo because we ate them too fast. Enough said. Get them. 3. Goat Mousse The menu changes periodically, so this was a new dish for us. The goat mousse was creamy, rich, and surprisingly light, served with sweet jam, crumpets, crackers, pickles, and giardiniera. The contrast of sweet, tangy, creamy, crunchy, and savory flavors creates a little flavor party in your mouth. Every bite can be customized differently, which made this dish especially fun to share. 4. Pork Belly & Watermelon Perfectly cooked pork belly with a crisp exterior and rich, savory flavor, balanced beautifully by refreshing watermelon cubes and fresh greens. I don't know how healthy it is, but we aren't here for health. We're here for flavor. We're here for comfort. We're here to be punched in the soul with food that we will never forget! The sweet, juicy watermelon cuts through the richness of the pork belly and creates a combination that sounds unusual but works incredibly well. 5. Halibut with Thai Sprouts A beautifully cooked piece of halibut served with Thai sprouts, miso marcona butter, and blueberry fish sauce. Yes, blueberry fish sauce. And yes, it works. The fish was flaky, buttery, and perfectly cooked. The savory umami from the miso butter paired with the subtle sweetness and acidity from the fish sauce created a combination that was balanced, and memorable yet surprising to me. The restaurant itself has a dark, energetic atmosphere and is always packed. The tables are definitely close together, but given how popular the restaurant is, I understand why they maximize the space. Absolutely recommend coming here. Your tummies won't regret it.

My friend and I dedicated a day where we would just put our name down and however long it took we would wait haha. We drove into the city which took and hour and we put our name down and waited an hour before we were called. The weather was great so we just walked around the west loop area. We started with a half size of the green salad and a half size of the roasted bone marrow. The house salad is super refreshing. A lot of vinegar in the dressing which I personally really like. Also tasted some fennel which was an interesting flavor. The roasted bone marrow is the winner of the night. I would come back to Au Cheval for this alone. It was paired with a thick slice of Texas toast and a beef cheek marmalade and it is seriously the PERFECT balance of flavors. Fatty. Sweet. Buttery. Literally insane and this is a must order! Then came the famous burger. My friend and I each ordered a single cheeseburger with the egg and bacon added. Something to note is that the single cheeseburger actually has 2 patties and the double cheeseburger has 3 patties (3/4lbs of beef). The presentation itself is beautiful and makes you just not want to eat it haha. The burger itself is so decadent and hefty with the burger patties, cheese, egg and bacon. I'll be honest, I needed some more pickles or just something to cut all the fattiness of the burger. There were pickles in the burger and it is served with a huge pickle spear. But I still was itching for some more bitterness/acid to balance the flavors. It was so decadent, I couldn't finish it all. All in all, I would definitely come back and order the burger again and would recommend it to anyone! We ordered a side of fries which came with their garlic aioli. The fries were cooked to perfection. Super crunchy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside and piping hot! The garlic aioli is perfect and have no notes for it. We also were treated to a vanilla scoop with chocolate sauce which was the perfect cap to our meal! Our waitress was so friendly and my friend and I loved her! She was so sweet and genuine. I'd like to throw in my own quote into the gauntlet: "it's ok". It sounds harsh but Our burger patty was noticeably dry. The bread... was also dry. The egg and bacon add-ons were good but as a whole, the burger was missing the core aspect. The bread being dry I can justify by knowing that Au Cheval makes it a point to make everything gluten-free (or so someone told me). I think that's cool but not necessarily what I came looking for. I actually noticed prior to our trip from photos that the buns looked noticeably arid but I gave them no heed because of all of the praise. And I can give them the benefit of the doubt that we were there on a Sunday night, so potentially not the most quality inventory (although I personally don't think that's a great excuse). The service and the ambiance were on point! If you're wondering if there's a required attire (no shorts or flip flops) I wouldn't fret, the atmosphere is a lot more casual despite self-describing as an "intimate" setting. It's definitely more intimate than a normal burger restaurant, with dim lighting and isolated booths but what you're wearing isn't going to dictate how other guests and staff feel. I would cover up anyways just cause there was ac running. I told my friend who moved from Nyc to Chicago and he said he felt the same. And one of our couple friends were surprised to hear the patty being dry, so... off day?

Terrible. I am honestly not sure how people are recommending this place. I was excited to come here…read moreand had very high expectations, but unfortunately the food was extremely disappointing. Let's start from the beginning: the bone marrow. What on earth was going on? Why would you cover bone marrow with fig, bacon, and so much cilantro? Bone marrow is a delicate dish. You are supposed to taste the richness and subtle flavor of the marrow itself. The cilantro completely overpowered it, and the fig and bacon made it even worse. Chef, where did you train? This dish made no sense. Then came the agnolotti. I have no words. Just look at the photo: full of oil. I mean completely swimming in oil. Then the chitarra with seafood. Horrible. Spicy for no reason. Again, why are you trying to cover the ingredients instead of letting them speak for themselves? Also, the fish tasted frozen, not fresh. The pork belly, supposedly the signature dish, was another disappointment. Again, so much sauce that the actual flavor of the pork belly was completely lost. The staff were nice, the ambiance was okay, and the wine selection was good. But please, stop covering the taste of the food you cook. If you need to hide the ingredients under excessive sauce, spice, cilantro, oil, bacon, or sweetness, the only explanation is that the ingredients are not good enough on their own. I will not be coming back. Not even for free. Sorry. PS. Why so much bread on each dish? So much buttery horrible bread that you will trash, because it's impossible to eat all of it.

The weather was perfect for outdoor dining so I went ahead and booked a table for Friday night. I felt like I won the dinner lottery. Service was wonderful and I didn't mind sitting outside at all next to the road with cars. I actually never stepped foot in the restaurant so cannot comment on what it's like inside. But do not give up that patio dining reservation if it's available. All of our dishes were delicious. I was really impressed by the meatball appetizers, chicken vesuvio (the potatoes are a must get as a side if you skip this dish), and branzino. For appetizers, we ordered the While Garlic Loaf Focaccia and the Stuffed mushrooms. I wished I took a video when the focaccia arrived. The waiter, holding a plate with a round and fluffy focaccia and proceeded to pour the garlic et al on top of the bread! Very freshly-made and fabulous! The stuffed mushrooms were also cute delicious! This is a rare time where the stuffing had spinach below the stuffing - excellent! I remember seeing (and enjoying) this while I visited Italy. Delightful! The main courses we ordered were the Gnocchi Bolognese, the Baked Burrata Lasagna and the Barolo Braised Short Rib. The Gnocchi meat sauce was the standout here, being very flavorful, but not as heavy as some other restaurants. The Gnocchi were dense - not fluffy as I had expected. But the sauce flavor was vivid. The Baked Burrata Lasagna was oh, so perfect! Many layers of al dente pasta separates with a tasty meat sauce. Many times I have had lasagna that was either over-baked, or had limp pasta. Here, the lasagna shined! So large of a serving that my wife could not finish it, much to her dismay . . . I had the Barolo Braised Short Rib - oh my living god! - so tender, so complete a dish, with the fork tender meat that melts in your mouth, complimented by a light polenta (I must emphasize the lightness here, as many restaurants serve polenta that is heavy and too rich. This did not compete with the short rib, rather it seamlessly became the foundation on which the richness of the meat was enhanced. I was blown away! But, the most amazing, and probably the most delectable part of the evening was finishing off with a luscious Chocolate Cake! OH, WOW!!! The cake was certainly moist and smooth. Yes, smooth! I could not tell there was cake at all, so smooth it was! And surprisingly (not surprising given the quality of this establishment) it wasn't too sweet, rather just enough to bring out the chocolatey goodness! I only wished that I ordered some hot coffee - the cake would have gone well with a great cup of coffee! Overall, I was very impressed with this restaurant! The old-town decor, the dim lights, the fantastic food (just like of the Italy of old!)- all contributing to a wonderful experience! Highly recommended!
