Probably one of the best spots I had here. They do have a small area for walk ins but recommend making reservations in advance. I got the rigatoni à la vodka. So good. I also got the Bella punch also very good. Host was super sweet and so was my waitress.

Italian food isn't my first choice with dining, neither is Hogsalt. That being said, Ciccio Mio quite literally translates to 'My darling' in Italian and it is undeniably the darling of the Hogsalt restaurant group. A ~very romantic~ touch is that they give you a red rose for your birthday. What we ordered: Bucatini Amatriciana: Guanciale, Calabrian chili, pecorino romano Burrata: Saved with fougasse bread, olive oil, and other accoutrements. Forget the lasagna rotolo, this is Ciccio Mio's pièce de résistance Truffle Mafaldine: truffle cream sauce, parmesan. I think mafaldine is my favorite pasta shape. It's just such a whimsical noodle to eat lol Fried Artichoke: Artichoke hearts, caesar aioli.

Checked this spot off my list while celebrating a special occasion. They had a card waiting at our table, which was such a thoughtful touch. The vibe is dark, moody, and perfect for an intimate night out. Service was excellent. The chicken Parmesan was the star of the meal, huge portion and absolutely worth ordering. We also tried the Caesar salad, short rib, carbonara , potatoes, and tiramisu that were all delicious. My only feedback is that the wait between courses felt a bit long, and some of the ladyfingers in the tiramisu weren't fully soaked so it was a bit dry. Overall, a great experience with a beautiful atmosphere and generous portions.

I have been meaning to try Ciccio Mio for a while but it's so hard to get a reservation! Was able to snag a late reservation on a Thursday evening and once I got there, it was clear why it's so tough to get into - the dining room is TINY! Vibes were amazing, super cozy and intimate. Service and food were fantastic. Steak tartare was delicious, I don't love chicken vesuvio but my date enjoyed it. The rigatoni vodka was amazing and they let us add sausage which made it even better. Will certainly be back, great place for a date night or special occasion.

What a cute place for a date and delicious pasta. Love the ambiance, food including the dessert was delicious and the staff was wonderful. Limited seats so advance reservations are needed but worth the planning.

I have been trying to get a reservation here for my last few visits and was finally able to snag one this go around. The restaurant is gorgeous with a dimly lit well decorated interior. It's small and cozy with maybe only 15 tables total? You are VERY close to the other tables though and I did feel like it took away from the experience a bit when you hear everything in the conversation at the next table. We started with the truffle mozzarella sticks and the steak and anchovy tartare. Both were really good and very flavorful. We then moved onto pasta and got the vodka pasta and the amatriciana. For two pastas that were supposed to have a kick I was very disappointed that neither did. To be honest, I actually found them a bit bland which was really disappointing given how much the food is raved about here. I'm not really sure if this was just an off night but I was really and truly bummed with the dishes. We also had the mushroom side which was very good. Overall, it was a nice meal but I won't prioritize going back.

Downgrading bc of the pickup service I had today. (Spoiler: Karen the host is aptly named). I consistently order pickup (direct and DD) and it's usually quick and consistent - my order is always ready before the quoted time. Today, I came in and there was no host at the front for long enough that several people just walked straight back (maybe they were meeting someone but didn't seem like it) and several servers walked in and outside without greeting. By the time Karen shows up again, it's me and another person waiting. Instead of asking "who was here first?" She services the white man, why would you assume he's there first?, and I have to listen to him asking if he can sit at the bar, doesn't understand why he can't sit at the bar, needs recommendations nearby where he can drink and wait at, if they'll hold his bags, and his whole life story. She's about to walk away with his bags when I say that I was here first and I'm picking up. She tells me go to the side window outside which I've never been prompted to do. I say so and she asks for the name, if I'm the person it's for and the gets on her walkie to see if anyone can walk it up. No apology and didn't appreciate her tone throughout the exchange. I like the bucatini and spicy rigatoni but if I order next time, will avoid Karen who had terrible vibes.

Ciccio Mio is a beautiful restaurant that does not disappoint. My friends and I came here for an occasion which I recommend as it is pricey but worth it. The staff are all very nice and the mood inside makes it perfect to enjoy a beautiful dinner. We ordered a lot of food but it was all worth it. To start, we had the truffle mozzarella sticks ($23.99) and Focaccia ($18.99) which both were great to start. The whipped ricotta was delicious with the focaccia and the mozzarella sticks were very cheesy and you can taste the truffle but it wasn't overpowering. For the entrees, we ordered the Carbonara ($25.99), Truffle Malfadine ($24.99), Rigatoni Vodka ($25.99), and the chicken Parmesan ($34.99). My favorites were the Vodka and chicken Parmesan. I enjoyed the other pastas as well and I don't think there'd be any complaints of getting the others. I enjoyed them all very much. We also ordered the mushrooms ($15.99) and potato's ($12.99) which I would get every time. The potato's were very crispy which I love and the mushrooms was carbonara style which was rich. We enjoyed our meals very much that we all ordered dessert as well. We ordered the gelato ($9.99), tiramisu ($17.99), and the olive oil cake ($14.99). Out of the three, my favorite was the gelato as it was a hint of the almonds and crunch. It was a delicious gelato and perfect as a dessert. The olive oil cake goes well with the gelato together too and the tiramisu looked beautiful. Overall, I have always enjoyed dinner at Ciccio Mio and the staff makes sure you're enjoying everything. I really enjoyed the food!

When they say its so hard to get a reservation here - they aren't kidding. I was on my laptop exactly at 9am and my slot got taken as I was about to reserve... so I got stuck with a 8:45pm reservation. Nonetheless, I wanted to eat here so bad to celebrate my 30th birthday so I kept it. The place is pretty small, yet very intimate and romantic. I was a little annoyed because even with my reservation, I still had to wait like 15 min for my table.... Staff kept apologizing but still... I love all the Hogsalt restaurants so I knew I would enjoy this meal. However, not my fav meal by Hogsalt, but still really good. We tried some crossover menu items as well as some Ciccio Mio exclusive items. You can never go wrong with the truffle mozzarella sticks. We get them every time. My husband said their Ciccio old fashioned was the best old fashioned he's ever had! For my birthday, they left me a card on the table and gave us free gelato which was SO GOOD. Maybe best part of the meal?

My wife and I took our daughter out for her birthday. We got to meet the boyfriend. Our daughter has wanted to dine here so we popped for the bill. I would say it's a romantic setting, a bit dark in the restaurant. Us old folks needed the table lamp to read the menu better. I had read good things about the meatballs and bread as an appetizer so we shared that. Five meatballs, I got two. I thought they should have been hotter but I still enjoyed them. The wife wasn't impressed. Not sure about the younger folks. We shared a bottle of Classico Chianti, Montescondo which was very good. Boyfriend had the braised beef short rib. He seemed to enjoy it. Daughter had gnocchi. Wifey had Bucatini Amatriciana while I ate penne bolognese. Wifey and I shared an order of chicken Parmesan. So much of it the kids took home almost half. The wife had wanted to get the tagliatelle carbonara but with certain ingredients. They weren't sure if they could do it since the sauce was already made. She switched to the Bucatini but the server came back later with the carbonara for her to enjoy on the house. They are very nice here. Daughter was given a celebration baby gelato she enjoyed by the restaurant. We ordered two tiramisu deserts. They were #$@& Hugh. So to wrap up we had fantastic service, great meals and Hugh yummy deserts. Oh, the wine was very good. Thanks to the restaurant staff for this wonderful dining experience.

One of my favorite spots in the city! Exactly the vibe you're looking for, especially in winter-dark, woody, cozy- and love all the gallery wall art in the dining room. Always get the rigatoni a la vodka and Caesar salad- perfect for splitting. Tiramisu is HUGE and divine. Even when you can't get a reservation, I adore the bar area, and you can still order a full meal.

    Emily K.

Everything was perfection. Our waiter was so knowledgeable about wine and the menu. He was personable and friendly and went above and beyond offering to split dishes and even gave us a tip to get the small lasagna version so we could try more things. The decor is impeccable. Cozy, nice but not stuffy, I never wanted to leave. The food was out of this world. The tartare was some of the best I have ever had. The meatballs were hands down the best I have ever had. The sauce was thick and rich and so flavorful. I'm usually not a fan of ground meat texture but these meatballs were so tender. The gnocchi somehow just dissolved into heavenly flavor it was light and fluffy and cheesy. The lasagna was so unique rolled up and the crispy cheese on the outside made my day. Reservations are hard to get.

Ask the Community - Ciccio Mio

    What is their dress code?

I don't know if they have an official dress code but having been there, it seems like a smart casual / formal dress code, it's a nice fancy spot and I see people coming in for dates / special occasions.

Is there bar seating without reservations? we would arrive around 4:15 next Tuesday, Feb 11.

No, they will direct you next door to Gilt Bar or Bavette's

    Is this buisness reservation only?

I don't think it's reservation only but you will probably have a difficult tome walking in.

Could you bring a child here?

The restaurant closes at 10:30pm but there are reservations up to 10:30. Are these late reservations good or would we feel rushed if we ordered a bottle of wine?

Very unlikely You will feel rushed. They do exhibit the Italian spirit to eat drink and enjoy! However, they re human and if it’s possible don’t chose the late reservation.

Where is the best (safest and closest) place to park? Is there valet service?

There is no valet service but the street in front of the restaurant has parking and is not very busy. We were able to find a spot pretty easily and cost effective.

What dairy free options are there? I've not been able to get a response from the restaurant and I'd like to order online this weekend. Any suggestions?

Yes they have fish and beef dished without being prepared with dairy.

Is there a bar and, if so, can you order the full menu and dine at the bar?

    No, there is no bar

Does anyone know how this place is releasing/opening up reservations? Seems like one day at a time is opened up as it becomes a month away--which is a bit silly. Also, what time does that day open up to book? Midnight?

So FYI...Resy is on PST. So it's actually open for reservations at 10pm Chicago time not midnight. They book up fast! It's one of the hottest restaurants in Chicago! Good…

Does Ciccio Mio have the same BYOB policy as Bavettes, Gilt, etc?

I brought my own wine and it was a 50 corkage fee

    How are gluten free/friendly options?

Lots of gluten-free options. GF pasta or several natural GF entrees. Pavlova for dessert.

The octopus surprised me because octopus can be hit or miss for me, but they did it really well! The table bread was also pretty good and cheesy. The Caesar was just fine. Nothing special but not bad (which is good coming from me since I'm not usually big on kale). Of course all of the pastas were yummy. The fusilloni was definitely my favorite from the noodle shape to the sausage and cheese. The ricotta dumplings were suuuuuper cheesy which I really liked (though I could see why others wouldn't) and had a melt in your mouth softness. The rigatoni was tasty, but kinda just tasted like a normal red sauce so would probably try something more interesting next time. We really enjoyed the chicken parm, too. The fritto misto was ok, the breading tasted like it was old or had been sitting out. Not as crispy as we'd hope. To be honest felt like frozen calamari quality. The Alla Vita chopped was pretty standard, kinda reminded me of Olive Garden salad lol. The stars of the meal were the tagliatelle and cappelletti pasta. Both were super flavorful and pasta cooked well. The bone-in ribeye was a little on the sweeter side, definitely lacked a crust and salt. I'd pass on the steak IMO. Our biggest qualm was the timing of the dishes coming out. The pasta came out 30-35 minutes after the appetizer and salad which is fine, but the steak coming out 15 minutes after the pasta kinda ruined it. We'd love to eat the entrees (steak and pasta) together, and not finish our pasta first or let it go cold then eat steak alone.. ya know? We had ordered crispy potatoes but cancelled due to the wait. Ended the night with mango passion fruit sorbet with a prosecco float. Big mistake on the prosecco float haha it was so tarte and bitter, would def recommend trying the sorbet alone! Overall, glad we finally got to try this place. Focus more on the pastas and skip the steak. Very beautiful inside.
