Food is good, but it's a buffet so never sure how to tip. What percentage do you tip for ringing you up?

When you give a menu to the customer, they expect you will not be out of anything unless you say something. It's inconsiderate to wait until the person orders to tell them they are out of something. Think about if you were in a large party like 10-20 people and you were the last person to order but the server waited until you ordered it to tell you they were out. Would you like to have to rush to make a decision or delay your entire party? It's just about treating people like human beings that you CARE about their time. It also hurts the waitress and restaurant since the customer is taking more time to order. Longer the stay, less customers can get seated next, less tips, less sales possibly. With my sandwich situation, she knew it had something all over it wrong so she should have NEVER asked me if it was ok with me. I never served like that. My first job I was counter help at Butter Krisp Diner in Covington, LA I worked for back in my early 20's(now 46). If the food looked wrong I sure didn't still try to serve it. I had and still have a heart not to do that to anybody unlike Josie. I'm not sure why she would think I'd accept a major error? I actually CARED about my customers. I made mistakes there, but I sure didn't intentionally give someone something that I knew was incorrect. That's just cruel. Why would I risk my customer being mad at me even if it was just drive-thru that 99% of the time didn't tip that I didn't want to get them mad at me. I cared about another human being's feelings and time. As far as the owner, he's ridiculous to ask me "Do you know how tartar sauce is made?" I told him "capers." That's when he said that tartar sauce is 70% mayo. The thing is I wanted tangy sauce(the tartar sauce) ONLY on my sandwich is how I enjoy the taste. He just wanted to not remake the sandwich. Cause why else would he say these things to me?? The other manager should mind her own business about that my husband didn't eat. He was going to, but they were out of what he wanted. It's not rude to take your significant other out to eat even when you don't want to eat. You act like you had a full house when the place had 85% of the seats still available. He ordered a soft drink so he ordered SOMETHING! For some reason you don't count that. There was nothing wrong with my husband by me just cause he ended up not ordering any food. It's not "rude" to decide he didn't want anything since he couldn't get what he originally ordered. What does it matter if he ordered food or not? He ordered an item that still cost money. I can't believe you are on the owner's side about the tartar sauce/mayo 70% issue. Those 2 condiments taste NOTHING alike! It still hurts that all 3 of you are just so uncaring and mean. Why can't I get an apology from the owner and manager?Why don't you all teach your servers to write orders down along with making it a rule to greet with info about what they are out of? Why not try to improve??? read more

We really wanted to like this place, when we walked in there was one other table with 3 ppl. For some reason it took 45 minutes for the watered down coffee to be brought to the table. Took an hour to get the appetizers. When our Seafood Gumbo and Étouffée was brought to us it was the most disgusting food we both have ever tasted. We're more than positive the seafood was bad it tasted rotten. read more

Came across this place on a road trip. It was not bad. I had a shrimp poboy which was good and I tried the seafood gumbo which was not as bad as I expected since the menu has a "red bean gumbo" on it which is not right. Service was a little slow but there was only one girl taking orders and serving everyone so that's to be expected since businesses are just trying to make it during the covid nonsense. I will come back and try something different for sure. read more

Food and service is really good! I eat there a couple of times a month. The roast beef fries and pulled pork nachos are delicious appetizers! You can really just make them your meal. I would recommend this place to eat! read more

Hard to find a restaurant open on Sunday but this friendly joint saved us from fast food. Really, it was very slow food, but it tasted good and was provided in ample portions. Order the better food on the menu, like stuffed red fish, and share. The frickles were amazing. We got two orders. When they came to the table, we wondered if we had made a mistake (too much), but we cleaned those plates! Atmosphere fun. Relax into it and you'll love it. No free coffee refills. read more

This place ruined my day. We came in for dinner after visiting the plantations. We ordered an appetizer I think it was called the sea food dip. The seafood was so fresh in it the shrimp gave me the finger. It was huge. My family an I are professional eaters, and we were amazing by the size of the dip. The waitress was pleasant, and speedy. I ordered a cup of the seafood gumbo. Amazing, it was fresh and tasty! When our food arrived, it was amazing. I mean, I literally slapped my mom next to me it was so good. I ordered the Shrimp Poo-Boy. I was not disappointed. My mother and sister ordered the seafood platter to share, and they were both stuffed and could not finish it. My oldest sister got the stuffed fish, it was to die for. We also got an order of the roast beef fries. They are huge! I mean huge. So now I am currently laying in the back of her rental van, with my pants undone. We are sooo stuffed that none of us want to drive. I am currently wondering if they serve breakfast. We stopped in between lunch and dinner so there was no one here during the week at that time. BUT..... this is exactly what I wanted and needed! I love the hole in the wall, local spots that have the true homemade food. There were several items on the menu that I had never heard of and needed an explanation for. After the explanation I could not resist but trying them. Sausage chips.... TRY THEM! the Roast beef cheese fries.... TRY THEM! this whole menu I am sure is amazing. This was a highlight on our trip across the county. The food was exceptional and the service was outstanding. My wife and I each had a soup and split the entree. We had a tour at Whitney Plantation, but needed to kill sometime before it. We decided to grab lunch & I located the Creole House off the Yelp App. The place is easy to find & has a rustic exterior. The restaurant inside is nicely decorated & clean with a friendly wait staff. The prices seem reasonable for the area as well. I tried the shrimp platter & chose their mac & cheese as my side. Our server brought out these places with very large pieces of shrimp on them....a dozen to be exact! The meal also came with a piece of garlic bread & two hush puppies. It was some of the freshest, largest & tastiest shrimp I've ever had. The batter is incredible! I come from the North & it seems we always use corn meal which is much heavier. I was also blown away by the mac & cheese which used spaghetti instead of traditional macaroni noodles. What an amazing lunch! read more

My sister from Georgia and I went to this restaurant upon leaving a local tourist spot. We went in around 2 or 3 and we were shocked there was no one else in the restaurant..but we decided to take a chance anyway. we ordered and we were pleasantly surprised with the food. Price for the seafood was not inexpensive but perfectly cooked and hot and price comparable to other seafood restaurants. Here on a Monday for lunch and stopped by after a plantation tour at Oak Valley. Service was good but the food was not something I would rave about. The Shrimp and Oyster PO Boys did not have the creole zest that you would expect from Louisiana Creole establishment. When I am in the area, I normally find my way to the Creole House, because honestly, there's not that many places in the area. Normally for lunch it is busy, but I haven't been for dinner. There isn't a huge selection of food, but there is a decent amount of choices. For appetizers, their onion rings and frickles are good! I normally get the pulled pork nachos, which is an appetizer, and eat it as a meal. The pulled pork nachos are really, really good! It is a huge amount of food and would be great for two people. The service there is okay. The manager there is really helpful. read more

We stopped here on our way from the Laura Plantation to Houmas Plantation. Don't let the outside fool you. We recommend trying the sausage chips and bread pudding. To sample a few items we had shrimp po boys salads seafood gumbo and chicken gumbo. All were tasty. read more

I haven't been to this restaurant t in quite some time. We popped in last night. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety on the menu but we settled on fried shrimp and fried fish. My side was steamed vegetables which were very good. The hush puppies were awesome! Hubby had fries which were very good and thankfully not over seasoned with salt! The fried fish and shrimp were also very good and again we were thankful not salty! Our waitress was super busy because the restaurant got very busy so we had to wait to get drink refills The table we sat at was leaning one way so that's my only complaint. We took a side trip to visit Oak Alley Plantation outside of Baton Rouge. We decided to have some local fare and chose the Creole House. It was fantastic. The restaurant was filled with locals; we witnessed a birthday lunch for a young lady 104 years old. We enjoyed the group of older folks having lunch martinis after church. Then there was the food and the excellent service. The fried seafood platter was fantastic, the po boys were great and the crab cakes were off the charts. The waitress was phenomenal...excellent customer service. The restaurant was packed with locals at lunch so it took a little longer to get our food than ideal, but the service and the quality of the food was worth it. If you're touring the nearby plantations, make the short drive to the Creole House. It's well worth it. read more

Both were great and fresh! Biscuits were delicious and I had my first hush puppies here. Was visiting a plantation and needed a place to have some lunch. This spot came up on my phone, and I'm glad I went. The seafood gumbo was so on point, everyone in my group of 8 had a little bowl for themselves. I wasn't crazy about their softshell crab, but I think that's just a personal preference more than anything. My mum had their pork ribs, which she said was delicious. Their fries are good, too. Our waitress was helpful and friendly, even when we had to get everything to go, because we were running late for our tour. If you're coming straight from the Oak Alley Plantation, however, it's important to note that the restaurant is much more than 3.1 miles away (about a 25 minute drive). Lackluster fried food, inexpertly prepared. Hey, it was edible, and the fried sausage appetizer was actually good. For the health-conscious member of our group, a vegetarian, the only option was a garden salad that looked like it was a couple days old. Prices were fair for the portion size, and yet that didn't make up for the fact that all of us left wishing we'd gone somewhere else for dinner. We had wanted to try "authentic" local food. Turned around and went back because my stomach told me to.....frankly, I almost left because I didn't research it beforehand and thought it might be "just" a bar. I got seated for lunch and the waitress was prompt with my drink. When I asked her opinion on my top two choices of gumbo, she politely declined because she said my two choices were her favorites, too. I ended up with a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo and a cup of red bean gumbo. The red bean was the better of these two, with the chicken and sausage not being seasoned as well as the red bean.
