Though the parking lot was busy, I was sat immediately and noticed they were not too busy on a Friday night 7:30pm - likely an indicator of the experience to come. Kaitlyn was very friendly in greeting and throughout the meal. She was obviously the only bright spot on this experience, since you see the star rating. The soda lacked carbonation in the coke, so I mentioned it tasting off to me. I switched to an Orange Fanta, and that too lacked carbonation. Ended up just eating my spicy crab combo with no drink. Which thankfully, spicy is no where near spicy at this location. Medium at best if you order spicy. Genuinely let down, especially since it is ONE cluster for $38.99. Definitely felt this was a skip, and then was shocked when the bill came... As a party of one, I was charged automatic gratuity of 12%, which is bewildering to me. Larger parties? Totally get it! But a party of one, which I was shocked but they do list on the menu of prices. I almost tipped 20% on top of the bill, until I was looking into why it was higher than I expected. Additionally, $4.99 for a soda that doesn't even have the syrup and carbonation properly calibrated?! Wowza, what a letdown for $50+ for dining alone. If you are in Jacksonville, you are surrounded by lots of good seafood places. Big crab? Personally, a pass for me.

We ordered the crab and shrimp dip, which was yummy. For my main meal I got the fried basket with fried shrimp and calamari. It wasn't amazing. The calamari was definitely overcooked. My dad also got a fried shrimp and instead of telling him that they ran out of something they just added hush puppies without telling him, which was strange. The waiters were nice though, but overall wasn't super impressed with the food. The seafood platter seemed to be the star of the show for my group!

The potatoes were perfectly soft and able to sop up the seasoning. The sausages were a good combo of chewy and soft. And the corn was super juicy and sweet. We got the mild option, but honestly, we didn't really notice any spice, so I would definitely go for a higher spice level next time. The seasoning was pretty good, but not the best I've had. It was a bit too oily for my preference, which sounds a bit dumb because of course it's oily. But it was so hard to get the seasoning on the food. At times it felt like I was only scooping oil up without any of the flavoring. Whereas at other places, it felt like the oil itself was super flavorful too.

Being from a landlocked (Arizona) state, I wanted to get some fresh snow crab as you can truly taste the different even if you can get flash-frozen. We pulled up, and it seemed pretty underwhelming where it was located. When walking in, I initially didn't notice the insanely cool boat fountain that we marveled at on our way out. Loved the decor as simple, but the fountain elevated it more than other seafood boil places I've visited. Elijah was very friendly and appreciate the recommendation to go very spicy (extra hot). I often feel like some places vary. I want the spice, but I don't want it to completely overpower the food like some spice levels will. This achieved an exceptional flavor and still cleared my sinuses from the spice - perfection! The crab was amazing and the shrimp was pretty good as well; though next time, I'll do all crab as it was insanely fresh and tasty. I'll definitely be back if in Jacksonville again for work, and recommended to the local coworkers in the office!

The Gumbo man serves many classic NOLA staples from Gumbo, Po Boys, Boudin balls, and much more. The service is always friendly and with a smile or joke. The upside is that the food is absolutely amazing, the downside, because the food is so good, you may have a bit of a wait if the line is long. Best bet is to check his Facebook page for his location and try to make it before everyone else does. Today, I ordered my favorite, a shrimp po boy and also a large pepper jack boudin ball. The po boy is classic, French bread, lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, and overly loaded with very fresh shrimp. I always eat a bunch of shrimp off the sandwich before I take a bite because it's that loaded! The boudin ball was a first for me. It was a crunchy outside, and a hot smooth inside packed with flavor and goodness. I will definitely be getting this again. He never disappoints from food, drinks, to deserts The Gumbo Man has you covered. Make sure you go find him. The food is more than worth the wait, if you have to. For that real deal NOLA cuisine look no further. Enjoy! PSA-This not a restaurant, but a food truck to stop any confusion.

Unfortunately, the food was very salty, and some of the shrimp still had the dark intestinal tract ("black line") attached. I only ate a few bites before having to return to work. About 30 minutes later, I developed diarrhea and had to spend about 20 minutes in the bathroom. I called the restaurant to request a refund because I barely ate any of the food, but I was told they were not at fault because they had been in business for 14 years. I understand that it can be difficult to determine what caused a stomach issue, but I was disappointed with how my concern was handled. I'm now throwing away most of the meal, losing the money I spent, and leaving unsatisfied with both the food and customer service. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this experience.
