It was tasty, with minimal garlic (I love garlic so this isn't necessarily a great thing), and the spice level was accurate. Their shrimp are small in the multi-item boils. I'm usure if they have another size option if you do a shrimp-only boil. They were so small and steamed in a way that the shells were hard to remove. I grew up eating steamed/ boiled seafood. The way they do it here and quite a few other places in town is Gross. They put it in a big bag and there's butter all over the shell. It's disgusting. First of all I don't even need butter if it's made properly even on the meat. But why would you want butter on the shell - just to get that all over your fingers? It doesn't make any sense to me. I would prefer to not have all that messy stuff on the outside of my Seafood so that I can peel it, crack it and eat it. TBCSR was on the way home so I decided to stop by and try this place instead. First off - It's PRICEY. They also don't serve up shrimp in half pound portions, or have shrimp with the head on. Additionally I ordered 2 pound of shrimp, one pound of snow crab, and a pound of crawfish. Surprisingly it did not come with corn or potatoes. Other places include that. What was included is a service charge of $4.34 - Not sure what that's all about. I didn't even have them take the to-go boxes out to the car.... Shrimp had the medium sauce and crawfish had mild. Stopped in after two failed attenpts to get seafood from our usual spots and I think this used to be called something different before but it was little passed dinner rush. Came in with a party of three, skimmed the menu, ordered drinks to wash down our previous dissapointments and hey what'd you know two for one special so of course the guys ordered two rounds. I ordered the Strawberry mule and to my delight it was refreshing and bright. Husband and I did half dozen oysters for apps. Oysters were clean, fresh and schucked well. No metallic taste or sandy pieces. It's going good. Our server for the night was friendly, fun and attentative. Service 10/10. Main course. Two orders of the snow crab combo in the house and cajun sauce and an order of the mussel combo in medium house sauce which was a pound of new zealand green mussels, corn, potato, sausage and lots of shrimp. Our meals came out steamy in the typical seafood clear bag on a aluminum round tray and the guys untied the bag whereas I just popped mine and dug in. I shook mine before opening so the sauce can get into every crevis. Sauce was excellent, not too salty, extra buttery and savory. I almost finished my plate but I ate way fast and I think the butter soup kind of filled me up as I ate the last shrimp I could fit into the real estate in my belly. I think we were sitting there for about an hour of gracious butter soup eats. The seafood was steamed to perfection tender and juicy! By the end of our dine in session Husband And I combined our leftovers. Thinking we would eat it later with some steamed rice. Kim came by and checked us out and we were well on our way as the reataurant was closing. Our leftovers went to a different home that night because there was a woman sitting outside of the restaurant who asked for food. Everyone I know has raved about Boiling Crawfish but nobody could get the name quite right. One day on a whim my boyfriend took me and I was very surprised at the restaurant it's self. The decor and layout is amazing and not over did. Our waiter was super funny and very knowledgeable about the menu. We definitely had a great experience with him. Everyone their seemed so bubbly and full of life, and that's always great to see. I ordered buffalo wings and fries and my boyfriend got two pounds of spicy crawfish and half a dozen or so of the oysters. The wings were amazing, simple yet very memorable and the crawfish were large and seasoned to perfection. My friends say everything on the menu is great, especially the shrimp and crawfish. I died and came back to life happy! I'm not a big crawfish person, but this is a double thumbs up restaurant. Definitely worth the drive and the food was phenomenal. I was very impressed by the decor and the Cajun spice they used. My crawfish and seafood platter had a very good amount of medium hot spices. Love the taste! I came here and celebrated my friend's graduation and so glad she took me here. I had the Combo platter number 2 which consisted of one snow crab side, potatoes, sausage, shrimp, and crawfish. It was a good amount of food and came out steaming with flavor. We also ordered a side of Cajun fries as well. There was so much food that we had to take it home. A fair price and can see why. I really enjoyed eating here and definitely recommend this place to friends and family. Note: it's best to go during the lunch hours because I was told that it gets packed at night. I will NEVER go back to the Big Crab / Boiling Crab / Boiling Crawfish EVER again. Last night, I was told by the owner, who displayed obvious signs of deep seated racism, ageism and homophobia, in the MIDDLE of my meal, that I had to pay for what I had already ordered before I could order more. I have NEVER in my 30 years of living EVER been told that in any other restaurant in any city, state or country that I've ever been to. NEVER! I never once said I wasn't paying for my food nor did I even so much as insinuate that I wouldn't. So for her to come to my table out of nowhere and say that, she was stereotyping me bc of my race, age and the way I was dressed / my perceived sexuality. I bet she didn't ask any White, Asian or straight looking patron to do that and probably never has nor will. She also threatened to call the police on me when I asked her. THE POLICE. FOR NOTHING. Again, pulling a race ploy to scare me because I'm Black. I don't have a background. I told her to go ahead. She cut me off, over talked me and then ignored me as I asked questions about what was going on and why, and decided to focus her attention on my guest who was half White, instead. She talked to her and pretended to act like I wasn't even there anymore, trying to demean me. All that we were trying to explain to her was that they had overcharged us for something that we didn't ask for that was brought out to the table. I asked her to even roll the cameras back. Once my guest explained the exact same story to her, she became rude and nasty with her as well. Since she was being so rude and I just wanted her to leave my table, I even offered to pay for it since it was already touched, to which she told me she'd rather throw it out back in the dumpster and proceeded to try to dig into our food without permission. Then, when given permission, refused to even take it back. She lied to me and told me it would be removed from my bill, yet there it was. SMH. I told the owner that I've been giving them business since around 2010, to which she nastily responded that they'd only been open since 2013. Girl, 2010, 2013, 2015, I dont GAD. It doesn't matter; I said "around". The fact that I've been giving you business since near your inception which is a decade meant nothing to your internalized racism, ageism and homophobia. I will be cooking my own crabs at home like I love to do, and will be going back to the Juicy Crab like I have been for the past 7 or so years, when I want to eat out for crabs. I thank God that I switched to them some years back, and only went to Big Crab here and there. The Juicy Crab is always professional and is my place of choice. I've NEVER experienced with them what I experienced with the Big Crab last night. Even my waitress looked at the owner like she had lost her mind. She looked so embarrassed. I felt so bad for her, having to work in such a toxic and hostile environment. The owner even REFUSED to let me add an extra tip for my waitress and literally snatched the receipt away from with the tip line on it when I told her that I was trying to tip the waitress, all bc she could tell that the the server / waitress knew she was wrong and she was trying to empathize / sympathize with me. How disgusting and low do you have to be to do something like that to your own employee. If you see this post, please share it so that others can known what this company really thinks about people of other races. Companies like this only get away with stuff like this because we don't talk about it or do anything about it.
