This unassuming cafe serves a wide variety of sweet and savoury crepes, sandwiches, and pastries, plus coffee and tea drinks. I stopped for lunch and had a sautéed mushroom, spinach, and Swiss cheese crepe, a cranberry square, and a chai latte. The crepe and filling tasted very fresh, and I liked the seasoning in the crepe batter itself. The cranberry square was also very tasty with juicy berries. I ordered the chai latte because the shop is Indian-owned and I trusted them to deliver a high quality no-BS chai, and they didn't let me down. The drink had an authentic spicy taste, and if it was sweetened, it was only very lightly to let the flavour come through. It was also topped off with a really thick layer of froth which I just love. I added a sprinkle of cinnamon from the condiment station to finish it off. The look of the place may not be the most modern, but the big armchairs are still in very good condition and super comfortable. The fact that the interior looks like it's pulled from 15 years ago adds to the appeal for me, rather than the other way around. The fairy lights on the ceiling are an unexpected but very pretty touch too! The staff, who I think were all family, were very nice and accommodating. A couple of year ago, I was prohibited from eating eggs in any form, and mentioned this once to the lovely French gentleman serving me (his equally gracious wife is also frequently behind the counter). He said that he would make me a savoury buckwheat egg-free crêpe the next time I came in, and ... Lo and behold, on my next visit he announced that he had changed the recipe for all of the savoury crêpes to be egg-free! Talk about service "above and beyond"! Once you place your order and pay (avertissement: not cheap - but remember that you get what you pay for!), grab a seat outside or at the window to people-watch, sit at a charming table, or cozy up in the back corner in one of the comfy chairs by the fireplace. I had previously written about 3 or 4 reviews of Crepe and Café before. This after my reincarnation as a Yelper is starting with a clean slate and a fresh perspective. I came for my coffee meeting with my gal pal and when I arrived, My cup of cappuccino was ready waiting for me on the table. It was one of the best coffees I had had in months. For the Coffee it was a perfect 5 star. I usually come by here and have a savoury crepe, or a croissant and as authentic as this place is, the prices are definitely very west side Vancouver. Expect to pay more for food than you would consider in a café. I don't mind this. I like what they have to offer. The ambiance and the background music and the personality. A little bit of French is in the air. Classy, It does hinder my being able to come here as often as I would like. And now that I'm in another town, It's a bit far to dine here. So the pricing brings my rating down a bit, but regardless of that, it's a solid little authentic French café. No fooling you. If you see the lovely lady working alone on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Please give her a hand and clean your table. It would really help her and she would really be thankful. I always bring my plates and cups to the counter at the end of the service bar, just to help. I try not to go too often as much as I am a fan. I tend to spend $10 and under on lunch if I eat out, but here I spend close to $20. In some ways it is worth it though....the food is absolutely delicious. I'm not much of a crepe person. Instead I always order the same thing when I come: the soup and sandwich combo.I choose the Montreal smoked meat sandwich and tomato basil soup. - Both are amazing. I don't even like tomato soup, but their soup is so good! As for the sandwich, it's perfect. Enough said. As a dessert I get the lemon tart. That is my absolute favourite part about this place. I love the crust on it and the lemon filling sweet, but not overwhelmingly sweet. The downside to the lemon tart is that it's around $7 with tax if I remember correctly. I wasn't very happy with my crepe from crepe and cafe. I got the buckwheat crepe filled with egg, feta, spinach, and tomatoes. What I didn't know was the spinach was cooked ahead of time with onions and what tasted like cumin. The tomatoes were cut into chunks and did not provide a consistent texture of flavor to the crepe. This cafe in right in my neighbourhood and it seems to be run by lovely people so I want it not to just succeed but flourish! Decor - The space is comfortable and attractive and washrooms clean Order counter - There is so much room for improvement here; why do you have hand written signs, with spelling errors crossed out, describing the food? If you just went on your computer and printed the names in a pleasing font and attached them to small cardboard signs, everything would look so much more appealing, high-end and attractive. You already have the items on pretty plates, help it along with a little more attention to detail. Also, it looks so tacky to have the signs for the teas you offer attached to the display case with scotch-tape Food - I've really only ever had savoury crepes here but my suggestions would be: - Offer a plain crepe as well as buckwheat. The buckwheat has quite an overpowering taste that is not very "French" - More salt and pepper in the crepe - My preference would be a bit more filling (especially cheese) - Please wear gloves when making the crepes read more

I have been here numerous times, and have always had an amazing experience. The owners are wonderful people, and are so friendly and helpful. Their accents, along with the French music playing and the smell of fresh baking, truly makes one feel as if they are in Paris. They make the most incredible pastries, (I particularly enjoy the pain au chocolate), and the coffee is also excellent. However, the crepes are the main reason my girlfriend and I come here time after time. From sweet to savoury, I have never been disappointed with any of the options. A personal favorite is the simple but delicious lemon and sugar. For savoury, I usually go for the #7, which has sautéed mushrooms, spinach, tomato and feta. And to top all this off, the pricing is very reasonable, with each crepe ranging from $6-9. I highly recommend you check this place out. read more

My bf and I visited Crêpe & Café this past weekend for a late brunch before our Saturday grocery shopping trip. He'd driven past it a few times and was curious about it, and since it's in our neighbourhood, we stopped in. Crêpe & Café is run by a lovely French couple whose accents make me want to respond to their questions in French too. The extensive menu includes a variety of crêpes, breakfast and lunch items as well as fresh-made desserts such as cookies and squares. A variety of coffee, tea and espresso drinks are also available. Being that we were there for brunch, I reluctantly passed on the Nutella and banana crêpe but can't wait to go back and try it. I instead had a vegetarian crêpe; my bf had one with chorizo sausage. Both were incredible-tasting and of hearty portion size. And did I mention that all the crêpes are under $10 each? Excellent value. They're hot, fresh and made-to-order with slightly sweet buckwheat flour. While the ambiance could use a little bit of "oh la la", I have no doubt we'll be back to Crêpe & Café. My family and I were visiting from the U.S. and were staying at a house nearby. Found this restaurant on Yelp and decided to try it. Crepes were delicious and the coffee was perfect. Loved the ambiance and the cleanliness of the place. Seemed like a great gathering place for the local residents. On a side note, a special thanks goes out to Avneed for her act of kindness. My wife dropped something precious at the restaurant and didn't realize it till we were at Stanley Park. When we called the restaurant, Avneed called back right away and said she had found it. When my wife picked up her belonging, Avneed would not even take the reward that was offered. Trip would have been ruined, so kudos to Avneed. read more

This location was previously occupied by other coffee houses which were mediocre and failed miserably. I hope this place stays for the long haul as I think it is a good addition to the neighbourhood. I was in the neighbourhood and my monkeys were a bit peckish, so I popped in. Very nice lady took my order for the $5 'smoothies', and I asked her if it was made from real fruit as my kids were hungry and I try not to load them up with a sugar and flour all the time. She pleasantly assured me that yes, the smoothies were made from "crushed fruit". It turns out that the bottled juice they use is indeed called 'Crushed Fruit'. They pour it over ice and stick it in a Vitamix. I made a comment about it not being what's advertised and she smiled and didn't say a thing. Simple dishonesty thinly veiled with a smile. Ces crepes sont si délicieux! Saturday afternoon before Pitch & Putt, myself, the BF and friends dined in the beautiful sunshine at Crepe and Cafe. I LOVE crepes, especially when they are done right. And this place was a little spot of "Pareeeee" in the heart of Kerrisdale. I found the service to be frustrating slow, however I noticed the owner felt the same way. Her staff on hand weren't speedy when it came to counter service, but were definitely working the magic making the crepes...After a little back and forth banter in my now seriously destroyed French with the owner, and I was ready to demolish my lemon and sugar crepe. By the time it got to the table (very quickly to make up for slow counter service btw), and it was to die for....I could barely slow down as I lifted forkful after forkful to my mouth...I was very sad when I finished, and could have easily enjoyed two or even three more! Top this meal off with my stellar Americano Misto, and it was a great way to commence a very fun round of Pitch & Putt. I would highly recommend taking the time to experience this creperie especially during the warm summer months when you can dine on their patio. read more

Here's a tip if you're an American traveling in Vancouver: our debit cards did not always work! But they sometimes did, so I am not sure what the rule might be. However, the proprietor of Crepe & Café was really nice to explain the issue and worked with us to figure it out. Let's just say we owe her a little money the next time we're in Vancouver. My husband, two daughters (12 and 14), and I came here for a late lunch in between the Museum of Anthropology and the VanDusen Botanical Garden. Nutella and banana crepe, French onion soup, savory crepe #1 with ham, swiss, and mushrooms, and a lunch special of ham, swiss, and tomato sandwich with soup. All good, fresh, and relatively quick. The special was $11.99, and the savory crepe was $9.50. The atmosphere is very French, and as soon as I walked in, I thought it smelled like a Paris boulangerie. We were the only ones there, as it was a late afternoon stop, but there was a variety of seating - comfy cushioned chairs - or sturdy tables and chairs. Outdoor seating, too, but it was too hot. The food was brought over to us, as were utensils and water. We bused our stuff back to the counter when we were done. The croissants - plain and savory - looked really quite good and I'd like to stop by on the way out of Vancouver for some. she is unbelievably rude. My debit card didn't go through on the first try, so I had to fix it with on line banking, the lady sternly told me:" you don't just cancel the payment." I said oh no, I didn't cancel, it was just card problem and it should be Ok soon. Before I finished my sentence, she waved off my explanation grumbling something like I held up the line and " you just wait!", so I waited. Then afterwards I made the payment. since I was curious to see how come a croissant sandwich plus a tea and an americano could cost close to 20 dollars, I asked causally to see an itemized receipt. Their usual receipt is just a total. She looked like she just got kicked at her archilius' heel and told me to never come back. " You are not my customer." she said. What?!? It doesn't even make sense. I was shocked. She was yelling something like I didn't have comfiance(French word for trust?). Wait, I just asked a normal customer service question and you are giving your second-time customer the boot? Well, maybe I did win something by asking that question. This place is lovely, beautifully made with quality ingredients. That being said today was an off day ( Sunday). Food quality was top quality as always, but today, the owner was on her own and it took 30 mins to even order!!! How u ask? We got in line and everyone was asked to grab a table, she would then take our order when she was ready. The problem was that as we sat down, more customers arrived and ordered before we did. We went up again and were told to sit down again. To be fair she was on her own and probably got muddled up. I assumed that she was let down by staff calling in sick or not showing up....but then she mentioned that she always works on her own on a Sunday. So as much as we love this place, that comment irked me as we were being inconvenienced by the decision not to employ help on Sundays. I reiterate that this is a lovely place and well worth a visit or frequenting, just not on Sundays unless you have 3 hrs to spare. read more

Shockingly inhumane customer service!!! I was so disappointed with my recent experience here as I have enjoyed their food in the past.... but food alone does not a good establishment make. Yesterday I was out for a walk with my 6-mth old niece when I desperately needed the restroom (I'm in my first trimester of pregnancy so my bladder is, well, active). There are not many washroom options in this part of town so I walked in to the creperie and asked if I could use the facilities. The owner looked at me and the stroller and said, "Washrooms are for customers only." Seriously!?!? I might understand that policy on Granville & Hastings but I hardly look like a drug addict with plans to camp out in there or cause a ruckus with drunken buffoonery. My facial expression must have conveyed a strong message because she then, very begrudgingly said, "Well... I guess you can go ahead." Well NO THANK YOU! I walked out and declared that I been been a customer in the past but certainly never would be again! I am disgusted that her initial reaction was to deny someone, a pregnant woman with a baby no less, the use of a restroom. That is not the type of person to whom I wish to give my business. For her, it's clearly all about the money. I almost wish my bladder gave out right there on her floor, but I managed to make it another two blocks, to a lovely cafe on Dunbar, where the servers welcomed me and pointed the way to the ladies'. read more

I love this place. I went looking for it after a recent mention in a Vancouver Sun article about the Dunbar neighbourhood. Easy to access by bus and if it is a sunny day I suggest taking a stroll around the gorgeous neighbourhood - there are many tree lined streets and cute houses. Crepes & Cafe is owned by a Parisian couple and serves hand-made lovely french pastries, baguette sandwiches, crepes (savory and sweet - including the classic Nutella and bananas) and really good coffee. You can watch them make the crepes for you, which is fun and great for kids. They also sell Orangina and Coke in tall glass bottles (cute touch). Decent prices, not too busy, and lovely patio space. A little bit of Paris in Vancouver. We need more of this. read more

Horrible experience. My friend and I entered the cafe innocently curious about croissants, coffee, and a washroom. I politely asked the woman (owner?) working if I could use the washroom and she aggressively told me it was for customers only while she served another couple. Fair enough. We looked at what she had to offer for baked goods as she interrogated us whether we were going to purchase something or not. We decided on a croissant and I ducked into the washroom while my friend paid. Due to poor labeling we discovered the croissant cost was $10.... ridiculous. So we changed our minds and said woman was furious that I used the washroom. I cant say enough how rude the woman was to my friend for all of the 1 minute I was in her precious washroom. I've been here twice. I wasn't super impressed the first time but live nearby and decided to give them a second chance. This visit was worse. My latte took nearly ten minutes. The foam was awful - it looked like big, bubbly dish soap - and they added far less nutella than desired or what was provided on my first visit. I ordered the lemon and sugar crepe. The crepe was eggy and there was very little lemon. I spent $10 on the crepe and left just as hungry as I was when I arrived. I really wish this place was better. Just walked in for a coffee but was very impressed with the service and the delicious food being prepared before my eyes. The owner was fun to chat with and I ended up getting a double espresso (which was very good) and a spinach and feta crepe. I reheated it up at home for lunch and it was like heaven in my mouth. This restaurant used to locate in downtown and when I tasted the crepes in downtown, the crepes were delicious and quite extraordinary. With the new location, i went there twice and they menu had changed since the move and crepes do not taste the same. The crepes are ok but definitely not same taste as when they were in downtown. The croissants are light, crisp and flaky. They are wonderful dipped in hot chocolate. The stars of the show are the crepes. They are light and tender. The savoury offerings have a touch of buckwheat and the sweet crepes are a lovely pale dough with just a hint of sweetness. The savoury crepe makes a lovely meal on its own but you should bring a friend so that you can share one of the sweet crepes for dessert. Merci! read more

I went there today for lunch with my son and his girlfriend expecting to have a pleasant time. The lady - owner, I guess, was extremely rude and hostile towards us. I ordered soup and a plain croissant and water. She barked back at me "Evian"? and I kept saying no, just plain tap water. She seemed disgusted with me for requesting this. My son had soup and a sandwich, and "oh no - not him too" - water. My son's girlfriend wanted a crepe - fine and a coffee, just plain regular coffee. The female was quite annoyed by this - she said she only had Americano coffee, she said she doesn't make other coffee after 12:00. Really? A cafe type restaurant that doesn't have just regular coffee. She then said to "why don't you just have water too"? No, I said, she would like coffee. So - it had to be Americana. Then the owner rung up our bill - $39.98 - for a simple lunch!!! I said why, so expensive, make my croissant a plain bun, or a cracker, as the owner said soup is over $8. They don't have just plain bun or crackers, so I too had to pay $11.99 for soup and a croissant. The soup was disgusting. Onion soup. It was dark brown, thick consistency, a few onions, not many, no cheese. It upset my stomache, it's now almost 11 in the evening and the soup is still coming up on me. Horrible stuff. And $8.99 for a small cup. Really! I wish we would have just left, as soon as this horrible woman scowled and barked at us. I can't believe how some people run restaurants, and people go there - and take it. Why - there are a lot of restaurants out there. Don't give your business to people like this. The French woman at the counter is extremely rude. When I was about to purchase a drink I politely asked how much the bottled apple juice cost as there were no prices listed. She said very rudely that she didn't have time and that she's very busy. She then rung in 5 dollars in the cash register (almost as if she had just made up the price on the spot)! Save yourself the rudeness and overpriced items and stop at the IGA across the street...where juice is 2 dollars.
