Good food, nice atmosphere, and good service. Their savory crepes are tasty, but although they're pretty big and come with salad and potatoes, they're a bit overpriced for what they are. These are the crepes I've had: -Tuscany - Very flavorful, everything about it was good. -Santa Fe - Practically an omelete in a crepe. Tasteless, boring. -Milano - Very tasty, but the distribution of ingredients is off. There's always too much cottage cheese dominating the scene, and they really should put more marinara on it. -California - Super tasty. A great mix of ingredients! The atmosphere is very bright and open, giant windows allow you to see the life going on on Shattuck and the music playing in the background is nice. The service is hard to judge because you order at the front, they bring your dish to you, and that's pretty much it. For what it is though, it's good. Although everything about this Crepevine is pretty nice, I would never recommend it to anyone. If you're in Berkeley, skip the franchise and go to an independent crepe shop. read more

So I ordered a Coke and a Catfish Poor Boy with Fries and a Salad. I was given a number and picked a table . 15 Minutes later my food was brought to me it was Delish the Poor Boy was so tasty the fish had been seasoned just right . Crepes come with a side of potatoes that are usually undercooked and salad. Sweet crepes: I tried all of them and the Cherry Blintz is the best by far. It is wrapped into a roll and tastes like a stuffed CANNOLI. The combination is ORGASMIC. It has an Italian feel since Italians use mascarpone for Tiramisu and ricotta for cheesecakes. They have your standard nutella/fruit crepes and the Jamaican (Banana and rum) Santorini (Walnuts, pistachios, brown sugar, coconut, cinnamon and mascarpone) - Think baklava or a Mediterranean dessert but with a crepe skin instead of puff pastry. Savory: Most of the savory crepes have a lot of sauce, making the skin soggy. Most of them are pretty exotic and don't taste like your standard crepe, including the Kyoto, the Greek (more like a greek wrap), and the bombay (with curry sauce). The Milano and Italian crepes sound good but have too much marinara sauce, which added with the mozzarella just tastes like a soggy pizza, IMO. Santa Fe is a popular breakfast crepe. I like the Tuscany crepe for it's combo of chicken and pesto and the San Francisco. This place is just laughably bad. My lactose-intolerant friend ordered one of their specialty burgers, asking that they hold the cheese. Oops, it came out with cheese anyway. Friend notified the staff about the mistake and they said "Oh we'll take care of it right away!" You know they scraped that cheese off, sort of but not all the way, and brought him back the plate with the burger just flipped, cheese-side hiding in the bun! ALMOST FOOLED HIM, GUYS!!!! LOL? Thank goodness there was a line to place orders. The menu is extensive and it took us some time to read it and decide what we wanted to order. I would have hated to have people lineup behind me while I read the menu. Linda and I decided that we would share both a savory and a dessert crepe. We order a California, it was filled with: Avocado, bell peppers, tomatoes, sautéed onions and cheddar topped with salsa fresca we added the chicken. The tri-berry dessert crepe was filled with: Strawberries, blueberries and raspberries with nutella and chocolate sauce. Her daughter had the Greek Crepe and her DGD had French toast. The California was huge, by the time we share the salad, potatoes and the crepe, and both Linda and I were pretty full. However, we were still ready to try the dessert. The four of us share it and we all thought it was good. We all enjoyed our meals. I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to stop at this long-time Berkeley restaurant, I'm sure it has been around more than 15 years. This is a good place to eat at before the UC Mens Octet performs, even though I have never seen one of the guys in the Mens Octet here. I usually look for them at the FSM cafe. Max likes to sit in the corner along the wall. He finally knows my name. Everything is good at the Crepevine, except for the corn bread. It's as dry as an unexcited pootang. I do recommend the potatoes though. Plus the omelettes. And the Cal Bear sandwich. They give you huge portions. One thing that bothers me about the Crepevine is that one Asian dude who works at the register. My friend and I would always come here, and for some reason he acts like a dick toward us. Crepevine's mission statement is that they use the freshest, healthiest ingredients they can buy, which means organic and/or locally produced (a common theme among the Gourmet Ghetto restaurants). This is also reflected in the price. This is the location in Berkeley along the Gourmet Ghetto literally next to the super-popular Philz Coffee. PARKING: There's meters right on Shattuck and 2 hour parking along the residential areas several blocks behind. On weekends the 2 hour rule doesn't apply. VENUE: Looks to be popular with the student crowd. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating looks to be quite the spot for people-watching and overall just a nice spot to hang out on a day with good weather. I went on a Saturday morning. It seems to be quite the popular breakfast/brunch spot so there was limited seating. You order at the counter, get a number and waiters will serve once order is done. I got the San Francisco crepe, which contains salmon with capers, red onions, spinach, dijon and dill havarti. You can specify if you want your salmon fresh or smoked and all savory crepe orders come with sides of house potatoes and mixed greens with vinaigrette. -Smoked salmon was delicious and the capers gave it a bit of a tangy kick. -Spinach rounded out the crepe and the dijon and havarti was not overpowering. -Potatoes could have a little more herb flavor, had to spice it up with hot sauce. -Salad dressing was mild and there was a good amount of green. -Overall, the dish contained just the right amount of food; I was satisfied with my portion yet I was not stuffed. They are always good about remembering your modifications to the order like no cheese, fries instead of potatoes, etc. Food: Santa Rosa Scramble: 3egg scramble with mushrooms, tomatoes and cheese, and the dish comes with house potatoes and a slice of toast. You can sub the potatoes for salad or fries at no charge! This is my choice of food when I come for breakfast because it's relatively healthy, filling, and the salad with the eggs is to die for! California Crepe: Crepe filled with lots of cheese (beware if you don't want too much cheese), bell peppers, onions, and avocado and it comes with a side of potatoes and salad, plus chipotle sauce if you desire! I think this crepe is very average. It's sometimes too soggy for me and I always feel like the crepe is too thin itself so it doesn't feel like you are indulging in a delicious crepe. Came here Saturday before a drop-by to Philz. My boyfriend, daughter, and I were HUN-gree. Crepevine is inviting with its outdoor seating and horizontal seating area. It is a order at the counter restaurant with a huge selection of sandwiches, salads, benedicts, and of course crepes. My boyfriend ordered their El Paso "Benedict"; for me their Huevos Rancheros special; and Chicken Tenders with Fries kids meal for my daughter. The El Paso is not a Benedict as you have the option to have your eggs made any style, a Benedict to me is a poached egg and you can make what you want with the sides. Their Huevos Rancheros was "eh", even their potatoes was "eh". My first bite, I told my boyfriend that the local cafe by my house is by far the #1 spot for a delicious Huevos Rancheros. I ate, because I was hungry - good for the business but not at all a memorable experience. My daughter was presented with two chicken tenders and fries. I watched as she picked at it, meaning that (1) the taste was off or (2) she was just not that into it. The service is decent but that is only because its not really a full-on restaurant style eating. My boyfriend did notice that the manager-on-duty was being kind of a jerk to his employees by how he ordered them around. I had cash on me, so I tipped at the table after I received service. Gratuity should be based on the service received. I start at 20% but if my server exceeds my expectations, shouldn't the server get more? Okay, on to the food. I ordered the Florentine, a savory crepe with spinach, mushrooms, onions, jack and cottage cheese. It came with potatoes and a large side salad. The crepe was a little crispy, which was odd, but not off-putting. The filling itself had very little flavor, other than from the jack cheese. I have never had such a bland and boring crepe. The potatoes were good, but the salad was a little blah (though it had very fresh lettuce). Overall, this meal needed some oomph. My daughter had the spaghetti and meatballs, one of her favorite meals. She didn't touch the meatballs and barely ate two bites of her spaghetti. Hmm. I love a good crepe and glad I was finally able to come on in to enjoy some this past weekend! Their menu is massive, staff is friendly, their coffee is REALLY good, and I left very satiated. I got the California crepe and it was good, however it could use a little more flavor or spices, seemed a little bland. The house potatoes on the side are very good! The salad on the side was good but could use a bit more dressing or if there could be some choices for other dressings. My husband got the San Franciscan crepe and that was very good! It was stuffed with so many tasty and fresh ingredients, I wish I had ordered that one. Luckily, my husband and I don't mind sharing so we split both plates together. The SF crepe was filled with smoked salmon, capers, tons of spinach, and the crepe batter was good. I think I will be getting that one next time! They also have a fantastic vegetarian menu, lots of tasty pastas, sandwiches, and salads so I think a lunch or chill dinner date are in order sometime soon because the pasta with crab sounds fab! We were searching for breakfast in the 'Gourmet Ghetto' this morning and luckily walked off the street and straight into a perfect breakfast experience. The menu board above the register is huge and full of details on the numerous offerings. We could have studied the board more but we were both in the mood for eggs Benedict. We ordered the Black Stone Benedict and split it. On top of the English muffin is a layer of avocado underneath grilled red onion. The poached eggs are covered with an exceptional Hollandaise sauce. The tartness of the tomato slices on the side in combination with the Hollandaise and onion delivered a perfect balance of flavors. The accompanying home potatoes are really very good. I might have cooked them a little more thoroughly in my kitchen but I might not have added the right amount of rosemary as were on these. Nicely done chef. Our son ordered The Petaluma, a smartly concocted scramble of chicken apple sausage, mushrooms, provolone, spinach and egg draped with a nice house salsa. Next time I am ordering that. Pros being- No need for splitting checks. That is all I can think of. Cons- Large lines due to having to wait behind the register. And I am sure there are more, but I will let it reveal itself. I came here with my boyfriend and his family for a dinner they have every month. With that being said, we had a large group. We were unaware that we had to order at the register first and then take a seat. When a worker let us know, we acknowledged that and told them we would sit first then decide what we wanted and order from there. So of course, we got a table and everything. I am not sure if we were supposed to ask for water, but that should have been a given already, you know? If you see a family of 5+ maybe you should offer them beverage such as water while they look at the menu. Any who, we all order our food. Truly overpriced for their mediocre meals and pathetic service. The area is nice I guess, but that is about it. They also do not have WiFi which is a bummer. This is one of my favorite brunch places ! I highly recommend either the savory crepes or the egg scrambles. I've tried their Tuscany, California, Santa Fe and the San Francisco savory crepes and I liked the California crepes the best! The California crepes is filled with vegetables and it tastes perfect with the sour cream and I love how there are plenty of avocados! The side salad is also perfect with not too much dressing and their potatoes are not too salty and simply roasted without too much seasoning. I've also tried their parisienne french toast, which was way too sweet. You don't even need syrup because the cinnamon bread itself is really sweet. I do not recommend this. They have freshly squeezed orange juice, which unfortunately they seem to mix it with water or add something to it because it doesn't seem to be pure orange juice. Coffee is strongly roasted, but they give free refills which is always a plus! Overall, I love coming to Crepevine and I would definitely recommend it! Orange juice, carrot juice, ginger, lemon, and honey. Yum! I've also had the Tuscany crepe. Which is filled with mozzerella, feta (I think), mushrooms, pesto, and chicken breast pieces. There aren't too many things better than a nice, leisurely Sunday brunch. That was the thinking when I bought a brunch buffet Groupon for a Mexican eatery in Emeryville. When the girlfriend & I showed up there with printed Groupon in hand, the place was packed with a line out the door. Apparently, we weren't alone in our adoration of Sunday brunch. What I've concluded over the last year or so of using Groupons is that there aren't too many things more annoying than Groupon-spawned overcrowding. We said "screw it" & went to find our leisurely Sunday brunch elsewhere. Elsewhere turned out to be Crepevine. Though, occasionally, I've been near & around a few different Crepevine locations, this was my 1st time going in to get something to eat. Late Sunday morning was pretty busy here too & there was a general feeling of chaos. Despite that & my unfamiliarity with the menu, ordering didn't take long. We both went with savory crepes. She chose the Santa Fe & I got the Philly. We both ordered coffee. We were given a number for our order & picked a table outside from the few that were open. Coffees were served 1st after a few minutes & then the food arrived maybe 10 minutes or so later. The coffee was pretty good. I usually chug a lot of coffee with brunch & was already on my 2nd refill when the food came. Both of our dishes were ample, big servings but not gut-busting ginormous. Along with the crepes, both dishes had mixed green salad & house potatoes which played their supporting roles as the light & the heavy perfectly. My Philly crepe was all the grilled-steak-melted-cheese goodness of a delicious cheesesteak loaded into a not-too-thin, not-too-thick crepe as the delivery vessel. For an interesting & tasty alternative to a cheesesteak in the sandwich form, the Philly at Crepevine is certainly a new option I'll keep in mind. I tried some of the girlfriend's Santa Fe & that was delicious too. With egg & sausage, her crepe was more breakfast-y than my Philly & that's exactly how she wanted it. Unlike Guy Fieri, the girlfriend loves eggs so she was quite pleased with the Santa Fe. Just about everything was great until we were almost done eating. I'm like Mr. Pink from Reservoir Dogs, I like my coffee refills. Our server had been MIA for a while & the 1 time I managed to snag her to ask for 1 more coffee refill, she never came back. I guess there's no incentive for excellent service since everything (food + tip) is already paid for up front when ordering. Oh well, I really enjoyed the food. Our leisurely Sunday brunch still ended up being leisurely for the most part. Maybe, also like Mr. Pink, I didn't need that last cup of coffee. The power was still out for Crepevine but luckily they were still able to work their grill to cook some of the items on the menu. I opted for the Florentine crepe (spinach, mushrooms, onions, jack and cottage cheese). I have to say that I didn't care much for the crepe. The cottage cheese threw me off texturally and visually; it was pretty strange. Homefries and salad were yummy though! The fries here are ginormous and pretty generously portioned. Still, nice to see that Crepevine opened in this space a couple of years ago and took over Starbucks. Easy to get a table here, even with large groups. This is a, well, somewhat cute diner located in Berkeley. The staff weren't particularly friendly (as a whole), although one of them was rather sweet. The menu is typical breakfast/brunch/diner food. Lots of omelettes, sandwiches, and crepes to be had. Surprisingly, a side of bacon was not available on the menu, which I consider to be a big staple for a brunch place. The strawberry and nutella crepe was very large and a bit underwhelming in terms of the flavor. I mean, I guess the ingredients are very basic so I don't know what I expected. There was also a glob of ice cream on the side, which I did not appreciate since the crepe itself is hot and the ice cream is just going to melt quickly! The crepe comes with a side of potatoes and salad. The potatoes and salad tasted alright. Nothing I can't get anywhere else. My crepe tasted OK too, which was super disappointing. I don't know if it's because I had very high expectations for Crepevine but I felt like it was a bit bland and the salmon was very thinly sliced so I kinda felt jipped. The portions are pretty good but the taste was just lacking for me. Also, the ingredients didn't really taste fresh. My friend ordered the Sante Fe crepe (grilled chicken apple sausage with eggs and cheese), which she liked. I don't think she was too blown away by it but I had a taste and the chicken apple sausage was good. I don't really understand why everyone loves Crepevine but maybe I'm just not too into savory crepes (but I've had some really good ones in Hong Kong). I don't think I will be returning to this place, especially when there's so many other amazing options in North Berkeley. read more

This past Monday (5/18), and with the help of ~10 volunteer delivery drivers from both Stanford and outside of Stanford, we were able to deliver ~500 meals--all of which were generously DONATED by ALL Bay Area Crepevine locations --to 5 different Bay Area Hospitals (Stanford Hospital + Lucille Packard Children's Hospital, St. Rose Hospital, Washington Hospital, Kaiser in Fremont, and the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center). It was so much fun and truly an honor partnering with Mazen's amazing team at Crepevine, and I absolutely recommend this business--not only because their food is AMAZING, but also because their team is so wonderful. The Help Berkeley Ration restaurant delivery program has been a lifesaver for sheltering seniors. If you are looking for a healthy meal that includes vegetables and not too much starch, there were a only a few restaurants on Berkeley's program that I continue to order from. One of my favorites is Crepevine. I order their "normal ration" They also offer a vegetarian alternative. I loved the large salad and huge delicious crepe. Very nutritious I will continue to order from Crepevine on Shattuck after the City's program has ended. read more

This Crepevine location was alright. Service was alright too. They don't seem to know their stuff very well. It seems more like 'I'll take your order, but don't ask me anything about the food because I have no idea, otherwise I'll just guess.' I just ordered a salad. The salad taste fresh but i barely taste the dressing. It seems like I was just eating raw vegetables, which is still good to me since it's healthier with no dressing. Didn't eat their bread so no idea how it was like. Area was clean. Other than that, I really don't remember much about this place. Would most definitely not go out of my way to come here unless i'm starving and it's on the way. read more

It was my very first time coming to Crepevine and honestly I can say that it was a great experience. I had the tri-berry crêpe which had a wonderful tastes but I'm very simple with crêpes and it was just overwhelming because it was filled with fruit and Nutella. If you are into a lot of feelings then this would be a great go to. I also had a pasta with a creamy pesto sauce and chicken it was to die for I highly recommend it!!! I will be back ! read more

3/27/2022 I am a frequent customer and visit Crepevine at least 3 times a month for to-go orders or eating outside. I love their food. This is why I am so deeply disappointed by yesterday's events. I invited my friend from out of town to accompany me for breakfast Saturday morning. We were enjoying breakfast and a nice waitress was pouring a refill of coffee. We continued our breakfast.. Moments later a different waitress walked up to our table and began pushing another table toward us to accompany a larger party. That waitress told us we had to "leave now" without a reasonable explanation. Other customers were not bothered. I was shocked but we departed as directed. I understand "turning over tables" but at the expense of longtime customers?? I am insulted and peeved as this was a terrible display of restaurant ettiquete. You have lost a really good customer. This place is really cute and welcoming. There's plenty of seating here and it's great for brunch, and it's located in North Berkeley. I tried the Milano crepe, which has potatoes and salad. The flavors and sauce were amazing. I would go here again just to try other crepes but it's a bit pricey. read more

Visiting from out of the area and wanted a place to savor different foods. Not only does this restaurant serve crepes, but also a variety of other delights. Great place for brunch!a Upon looking at the menu there was so many choices, that, I really wanted to try everything... But i couldn't. So between a friend and I, we kind of chose a dish and picked at one anothers plates. Haha He ordered COTE D'AZUR.... Smoked salmon, spinach, and red onions poached eggs on an English Muffin with hollandaise sauce. He says it was really good. Who says you cannot pair smoked salmon with the the benedict? It was on point. Overall, it is something we can both go back to. He also ordered SANTORINI... Walnuts, pistachios, brown sugar, coconut, cinnamon and mascarpone If you have a major sweet tooth for breakfast, this would be a great choice. Very pleasing. For myself, i ordered the GREEK Spinach, kalamata olives, roasted almonds, onions with feta cheese and cucumber yogurt sauce This was refreshing for me. Not a heavy meal, but fulfilling for brunch. Came with a salad tossed in a vinaigrette with a side of potatoes. If your not to much of a potatoe fan, leave it for last. Over all everything in this plate tastes great. I also orderes a side of apple sausagen which was pleasing as well, along with jalapeno cornbread thay came with jalapeno jelly. Great pair. Overall, our visit was a great experience.
