Small market deli on the side of the road (down the road from Skates). Stopped here when exploring the Berkeley Marina area. Shared a hot dog, fries, and a crab salad sandwich. All were your standard foods with standard flavors (nothing stood out). Order your food at the register and then they'll call you to get your food and drinks. There's also a convenience store aspect with different things like candy, chips, etc. Good place to stop by if you want a quick picnic, quick bite to eat, grab some food to go to eat at Caesar Chavez Park, etc. Parking is available via a dirt parking lot behind the market. We saw families, couples, bikers, etc. Ambiance is super relaxed.

This is in regards to my too. Too good to go pick up from seabreeze market and deli. it was for a surprise bag of their leftover pasties from the previous day. It was a bag filled with so many of their baked goods and they were delish. I will say the thick cute of the cake with light frosting was very dry. Everything else was really good. I feel the bars were very well made as they have a cookie pie crust type of thing going on. It was so tasty and crunchy and sweet! I would def grab another surprise bag from them! They do have a huge whole menu that you can buy many other hot food items and other hot plates. Check em out for yourself!

Haven't been here in years and it's still yummy! I had the prawn sandwich and it's lite but delicious. I must say I've been two weeks in a row to get this sandwich. Both times very good. Sit outside and dip your fries in ketchup while enjoying the breeze. People are nice. But when in the area drive safe and don't Hollywood those stop signs, motorcycle cops don't play.

I was in the area and wanted to grab a quick bite and decided to try this place out. I ordered a catfish (a la carte) and a chicken salad sandwich. Catfish - this was breaded and extremely greasy. I had to use 10 napkins to try to soak up some of the oil. The breading had no flavor, just grease. The catfish was cooked well inside. I would have preferred to not have the greasy breading and just have the fish instead at that point. Chicken salad sandwich - they ran out of French roll and suggested white bread. The sandwich was as small as one I could just make at home. It was very bland with no seasoning/nor flavor. Sadly, Subway makes better sandwiches which says a lot. This was $20 not well spent at all. I generally love to support mom and pop places, but this was pretty bad.

I've driven past Sea Breeze quite a few times in my life and never was able to actually stop and enjoy. I decided to take a trip out to Berkeley with the kids to see what this deli is all about. Its pretty windy so bring a light coat for sitting outside. Whether the sun is shining or not its a bit chilly outside. I ordered the Crab Salad Sandwich with avocado. They forgot the avocado. I was disappointed. The Crab salad was flavorless. Its a mediocre sandwich. I also ordered a side of catfish. It was best part of my meal and if I come back next time I'm getting a catfish sandwich or just a pile of catfish. My son got a cheeseburger with fries. Their fries are excellent. He enjoyed his burger. My daughter got a turkey sandwich with regular fix'ns and she added avocado. They didn't for get her avocado. IT was quite a large sandwich and she saved half for later. I ordered a side of Red Velvet Cake. I'm sad to report that this was also not good. It didn't have that classic rich but subtle chocolate flavor that Red Velvet should have. It tasted like shampoo and nothing like Red Velvet Cake. I'm not above coming back and trying other things on the menu. Definitely going to get more Catfish.

The ambience of this cute little place near berkeley marina is a beachy feel it's outdoorsy and it is on the corner of University Ave & Frontage road. It is a very relaxing vibe. You could hear the cars passing from the freeway but you also hear the train passing, the birds/seagulls chirping in the background. It is so beautiful outside when the sun hits it's just so nice. You walk up to the counter order your food pay for it they give you your ticket with a number on it find your seat outside and then they call your number when the foods ready, The calamari is delicious, it's tender, light and cooked perfect!!! The Clam chowder is soooooooo good! Creamy, light, fluffy, full of clam chowders, potatoes, & vegetables. Hands down, it is the best clam chowder I have tried in the Bay Area in awhile!!! Yummy. If you're ever in the area, stop by and give it a try, you will not be disappointed!!

Stopped here to grab a smoothie. It's definitely a hidden gem with great customer service. We went on a walk to see what's in the area and stumbled across this place. They offer nice bites and drinks. Also, you can grab some needed snacks. We ordered the smoothies pictured below. I got the mocha drink which consisted of expresso and ice cream.

Front area. Little difficult to navigate where to order/start but if you walk up the staff is very friendly and will help

Found this after going for a walk around the Berkeley Marina and got a banana spilt milkshake that hit the spot. Heads up there is an $8 minimum if you're making with card. This is a family run business that started 25 years ago and still running strong and safe through covid. Perfect spot to grab some food and refreshments for a picnic along the shore!

To the server's credit he not only brought another, but to it off the bill-an impressive gesture. Unfortunately, the second one was just okay. It was significantly less than deli's in LA and NY. The latke and pickles were really good so it wasn't a total disaster. As to whether we return is up for consideration. At over $25 for a sandwich, it may be unlikely? I'm forever grateful for that recommendation because they make some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I've tried a few items on the menu, but the one I always recommend is the Hot Italian. Everything about this sandwich is incredible. It's packed with flavor, and you can honestly tell it was made with care. I usually pair it with a bag of chips, and the total comes to around $18. It's absolutely worth every penny and always leaves me full and satisfied. The shop is consistently clean, and the customer service is always friendly and welcoming. I find myself going back over and over again, then telling myself I need to take a break--only to end up back there a few weeks later. That's how good it is. A couple of things to keep in mind before you visit: there's only limited street parking, so you may have to circle the block to find a spot. There's also not much room to wait inside, although they do have a bench or two where you can sit while your sandwich is being prepared. In my experience, the wait is usually around 15 minutes. I've honestly never been here when it wasn't busy, so expect a crowd. But once you take that first bite, you'll understand why. Great food, great atmosphere, and great customer service. I highly recommend checking this place out!

They have a nice variety of items to grab that go well with your sandwich. The service was friendly and quick. Workers were all kind, and we love that it's dog-friendly! Regarding the sandwiches, you can get a hot or cold sandwich. You can also build your own! Companion got the Hot Boy, and I went the Build Your Own route. The sandwiches are hefty, with lots of great meats and fillings, and for the price, very decent! I wish my bread were a bit more toasted and crunchier, but that's my preference. It hit the spot, and I'd be open to trying their other sandwiches. I don't often go to delis, but Brothers Deli was a nice place to try. We enjoyed it by the waterfront, which makes it a great picnic option. Find them off Park Blvd., with street and residential parking around.

Awhile back, I tried to bring as much business to Star Meat as I could because 1. it's a small business and 2. it's inside Star Grocery (which I LOVE, so it's convenient). When I would go there, there would often be 2 or 3 people behind the counter and oftentimes I would be the only customer. I felt like I had to stand there forever before anyone even acknowledged I existed. Each person would be busy doing something, but there was no "I'll be with you in 2 minutes." Finally, I went one day and there were 3 workers behind the counter chatting with each other. I was the only customer and was standing around 6 feet away from them, looking right at them. They went on with there conversation (not doing any other work) for a full 5 minutes. Finally I thought, "OK, they really don't seem to want my business, so I can go to any one of 4 other places and get what I want." That was a year or two ago. So, today I thought, why not give it another try, it's certainly convenient. Again, I'm the only customer at the counter. One guy is washing equipment and two guys are making sandwiches. I know that they know that I'm there, there are mirrors all along the back wall exactly for the purpose of seeing the customers. After around 4 minutes I think, who knows how long I'm going to be standing here. Maybe they have to make 20 sandwiches and I'll be here for a half hour. So, I left. I don't have anything like this experience at the 4 other meat counters I go to in the area. I'm totally fine waiting if I have some sense that I'm waiting for a purpose and that the worker will get to me as soon as they can. But at Star Meat, it feels like I'm more of an inconvenience than a customer. "Hi, I'll be with you as soon as I can," goes a long way.

I had to come here twice back to back on different days to try another option on the menu. What I loved about it is the portions are huge and you could definitely feed 2 people, although prices are quite steep for the sandwiches. Sichuan Hot Chicken 5/5 This is as equally as good with Hot Boyz. So flavorful, nicely seasoned, juicy, crispy and tender. The sesame bun is an awesome take and elevated the hot chicken sandwich even more. It's not as heavily spiced as hot boyz so my stomach acid wasn't acting up right after which is a big plus. It's very well balanced. I would say maybe a touch more on sauce but other than that I loved it. Sisig Bolillo 5/5 Wow another great option! This was so good. Literally a filipino breakfast in one bite. Very flavorful, well seasoned, tender, rich, and with a touch of lime it helped cut through the fat and heaviness. I would've wished for more lime since 1 tiny slice wasn't enough or vinegar like sauce on the side. But i thoroughly enjoyed this sandwich. Bread was warm and crunchy but super soft and fluffy on the inside. Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap 2.5/5 My least favorite and I think they took it off the menu. What I didn't like about it was that the chicken wasn't seasoned enough or it lacked flavor. The dressing wasn't enough either because I didn't taste it at all. I did take a bite of this right away after a few bites of the chicken sandwich because I was worried about losing the texture of the croutons but it was already soft and mushy. Service & Ambience It's minimal. I ordered and waited for pick up. Staff is friendly. It's a sandwich shop so it's a to go spot with minimal dining spaces. We found it very tasty, but paying over $25 for this on DoorDash--certainly not worth the price even though we really enjoyed it. The spicy chicken parm sandwiches were not good. The chicken breast was flabby, and came across like it was one of those frozen cooked Tyson jobs. I would be very surprised if they actually breaded chicken breast, fried it, and made the sandwich with that. It was mushy, and the breading was like paste on the chicken. Pretty awful. They charge extra for sauce, which is a little much, given that we paid $21 for each sandwich. But we figured out pretty quickly why they do this: there was hardly any sauce on the sandwiches. And precious little cheese. We each ate half of our sandwich and figured we doctor the leftovers up the next day with a jar of Rao's and a bag of shredded Italian cheese. That helped, but nothing could save that chicken. The meatballs. We paid $15 for four, and we had high hopes, but they were so mushy that they fell apart in the sauce, and I couldn't tell what was sauce and what was meatballs. The only flavor that came across was fennel. Why any meatball should be so fennel-forward strikes me as bizarre. We got what we thought were pretty basic things, and they were fails. If an Italian place can't make a decent chicken parm sandwich nor a decent meatball, that says something. If you go, try the pinsa.

The vegetarian sandwich I ordered was so delicious, the pesto and garlic aioli really added flavor and the fresh warm bread really set it apart 4.8/9, only because the jalapeño was more spicy than pickled. Overall; I rate this place a 4.7/5

All the food sounded good on the menu. I had the sapphire which was supposed to be hot but it wasn't at all for me. The gem was almost like a Philly cheese steak. Both were really good. The fries seasoning is really good and the onion rings were good as well. I got a mango lemonade drink that I really enjoyed. Cool place to watch sports and grab a good bite to eat. Now go and enjoy, you can thank me later.

Sometimes it's good to try something different and a place with some interesting character and characters. I usually get deli sandwiches which have deli meats but this place has fried chicken sandwiches . So I was craving a sandwich so I headed to Crave Subs in Downtown Berkeley next to BART station. They have lots of sandwiches available on the menu. On a Summer stroll getting some sun in Downtown Berkeley I landed at Crave Subs. Inside it's like you stepped into an ice cream parlor with a comic book shop and arcade and a deli all at the same time. You will see sandwiches on the menu called the Pikachu, Ned Flanders, and Bart Simpson. You will see Chewbacca fries along with the Spider-Man fries and the vegan Sailormoon fries. I got the Captain Boom Halal Fried Chicken, Boom Boom Sauce, Cheddar Cheese and Crave Sauce on a roll. It was tasty and a bit crunchy and had lots of flavor. It's one of the best Halal chicken sandwiches I had. If you crave a fried chicken sandwich then Crave Subs is the spot. It will "cost "you an extra 50 cents if you want to "floss" with extra drip "sauce" to show off on social media and during OSL my social media feed was stuck in the" Land of OZ" If you want great fried chicken sandwich you don't need to visit KFC or meet the chicken"commanders" like the late "Colonel Sanders" just get a Captain Boom with "Halal chicken standards" or grab a Pikachu sandwich or a turkey sandwich called the "Ned Flanders "

One of my biggest pet peeves is when restaurants reduce the guality or quantity of their meal to cut costs while charging premium prices. I will say I didn't mind paying a few dollars more for their subs in the past. I went there today for the first time in a couple of years, ordered a regular size basic ruben sandwich (no add-ons) and was ok paying nearly $18 dollars for just the sandwich until they handed it to me. what I got was a small 6" sub. When did their subs shrink?? in this economy we are all struggling. I get it, things cost more but Craves' owner is not doing his patrons a service by charging them premiums while cutting back on the meals. If you're ok paying that much for a shrunken sub, more power to you. I l, however, will not be going back there.
