I've been coming here for several years starting during covid lockdowns when I first got into comics. The store is well stocked, nicely organized, and fun to just wander around even when you know what you want. The staff from Les (the owner) to everyone working there have always been very friendly and helpful. The store is also very kid friendly with a dedicated and well stocked kid section for all ages! My kids love when I bring them as a treat. Going in on Wednesdays to pick up my comics has become a part of the week that I really look forward to. read more

We noticed this on Yelp! and had to stop. 6-7 years ago I started collecting comics again for the first time in about 20 years. I've been out in Midland, TX where there was no comic shop so I had to order from Hastings (RIP). Then I moved back home to the Houston area and have not had any problems finding comic shops. But I always like finding cool comic shops when I go places, so when my wife saw this on Yelp! I had to check it out, especially since it had such great reviews. There is very limited street parking, and the alleyway next to it is a one way out, so go to the next street and turn into the back parking lot. When you walk in you just get a huge smile on your face. You're surrounded by comics. New issues are A-Z order on the left side, in the middle are older issues, and the right side are trade volumes. There are also a lot of toys and figures. The guys there were super friendly. It was a super clean place. They even let us use the bathroom in the back. I got a couple of trade paperbacks and my kids got dimes issues and books as well. If you're a fan of comics and make it to NOLA, you should stop in here and check it out. read more

Came down from Memphis for a vacation, decided to drop in to this shop. The drive was horrible due to festivities but well worth it. Friendly staff, great selection. I filled in some runs I could t find at my lcs for better than eBay prices! Very pleased. Fantastic! This place is amazing! Not only do they have comic books and graphic novels (I stopped in to see what they had to offer- Walking Dead wise) but they have tons of comic book related action figures, toys and gifts. The store is set up in such a way that everything is extremely easy to find. The staff was friendly and asked immediately upon my arrival if I needed help with anything. Been collecting comics for 30 plus yeas. I was traveling trough on business and decided to take a 20 minute UBER from downtown to check out this store. The first comic I picked up (which I planned to buy), I carefully took out of the package and immediately had it PULLED out of my hand by the owner I'm assuming the older gentleman). He said "if any comic was to be opened he would have to do it". I said I wasn't worried about covering a $5 comic and he replied: "Well apparently you are if you're taking it out of the package". I politely called another UBER and left. RUDE RUDE RUDE. Budget when I walked in $1,000 plus, walked out with $0. I will never be back. Note: If someone is wearing business attire and a Rolex watch, they can probably cover their bills. read more

This is a great comic book shop. The space is a bit small, but the owners make maximum use of the space. Books are organized alphabetically by title but new books are marked so you can find what you're looking for. The books are not in bags so you can browse them before you buy, which to me is a must in a good comic shop. They also sell t-shirts, graphic novels and action figures as well as other memorabilia. A cool place to hang out and talk comics with the owners or employees. read more

Very good selection of current issues and variants, but I was not impressed with the backstock. The only had modern books mostly marvel, very little DC, Image, and I found only about 10 issues of the new bloodshot series from the current valiant run. Some of the bins were packed too tight and I hate when there isn't a little wiggle space when your browsing the bargain bins. Also, you won't find any bronze or silver age to look for unless it's on the wall and it is a key issue. They didn't get five stars because of the staff. I don't live here and travel for a living so I like to go comic hunting when I'm on the flying around. So when I purchase comics I always ask for some cardboard prices to pack my books in my roller-bag safe from damage. I had never run into a comic shop that found this challenging. The staff here did not know what I meant and wanted to sell me a fancy carrying case, or hand me a giant box. It was an awkward moment trying to explain what I meant when I thought that this was common knowledge in our hobby and with how to safely handle or ship our books.. they also didn't seem helpful at that point and just wanted to go back to staring at their phones.. oh well, I will be back as long as the books are there and my work keeps sending me to NOLA on occasion read more

Let me be the first to say that I am a poser. I have the Wonder Woman converse. I have the comic-themed NOLA t-shirt. I have the Superman Snuggie*. BUT. Aside from the occasional Batman comic when I was little, I am not a vetted fanboy. Yet, I feel completely accepted at Crescent City Comics. As a woman, this is a big f-ing deal. It's a pretty decent sized comic store. I just wish they carried a larger Manga selection. I went in for two specific comics that I could not find anywhere else. Idve given it a four star rating but when I walked in there was hardly any light. Thankfully I have okay vision to navigate through the store but for someone who has trouble seeing in the dim light you may have a hard time. I don't know, maybe the power was out ‍ read more

Stopped by this morning for Free Comic Book Day (my favorite holiday of the year). We were the first ones in the store, but not for long! It was great to see that the customer service was just as helpful and friendly with college age superhero-heads and clueless moms purchasing for their ten years old cartoon-loving sons. I was just chilling, reading some of the FCBD selections, when Leo came up to say that he had ordered Runaway trades and some Young Avengers because I'd mentioned them in a recent conversation. I had forgotten that he'd taken down notes when we were chatting at the Media Expo! He brought me over and pulled the titles for me and I was flummoxed. This is what a comic should be. The staff is amazing, always super helpful and they make great recommendations. Shop is super clean and organized, back issues are fantastic here. This is the shop you go to for independent books, they definitely have the mainstream stuff but they have variety of books that will surprise you. The Marvel and DC silver age collection is also fantastic, ask for what you're looking for and they will make it happen. Another awesome tidbit is that the owner and staff have gone out of their way for me so many times, great people. We need more shops like this one! read more

I will admit that when I was a kid I used to read a lot of comics. I remember when this place first opened up in the Neighborhood. I decided to check it out. They had a really great selection of graphic Novels. I know they have a lot of comics they probably keep most of them in the back. Every time I have been to this Comic book shop the staff have always been helpful to me. Great customer service in my opinion goes a long way. So the next time you want to read up on the exploits of Batman, Spiderman or you are in the mood for a chilling graphic novel you might want to stop by and check this place out. read more

Being from Dallas, we try to always hit a comic book store while traveling. Our 18 year old comic book junkie loved this location! I let him shop for about an hour. The clerk was gracious enough to let me charge my phone while my son went through shelf after shelf. He said it was one of the best stores he's been to! I debated writing this since everyone else seems to love this place, but- I hated this place. Simply hated it. Or rather, I hated the clerk. First, let me say I've been collecting DC comics for over thirty years. And while I like the female superheroes, I also like me some Batman. I am not a comic virgin nor am I buying comics for some guy or because of some guy. Maybe it was because I'm female. Or maybe the clerk could have cared less just because he's that way with everyone. I explained I was there to decide which of the new 52 titles to buy. He shrugged. No suggestions. No asking what I normally buy or what I might be into. Just complete indifference. I tried again, asking about a specific title. He said he never read that one and again walked away. Yes, I bought comics. I would have bought comics from the Walmart at that point because I was so comic-starved. Would I have bought more if the clerk was more helpful? You betcha. Upon walking in, it is VERY apparent that whoever selects and manages this place knows what they're doing. It's visually stunning - makes you want to read comics if you don't already. I asked the person behind the desk for a recommendation for my nine year-old daughter, told him a little bit about her tastes, and he matched me up with the first book of "Girl Genius", which she loves and devoured immediately. Sure, we can all shop on Amazon, or google and read blogs about comics or whatever products of the world that interest us; but I still remain true in my belief that a well-run independent business with staff who can make such an accurate recommendation is an invaluable gem within any community. Went to this location about a month ago and my experience was awful. I was not greeted by any of the two workers that were on staff nor was I ever asked if I need help with anything. I came in looking for manga and had to walk around the store aimlessly trying to find the selection. I was asked to place my backpack behind their counter by a female employee which I obliged but noticed other customers with bags around the same size as mine was not asked to place theirs behind the counter. This was around the time free comic book day was happening and they had leftover comics that were up for grabs. I was never told this and had to find this out by overhearing conversations. I felt as if I was being profiled and disregarded. For that, I will not be returning. If you're going to run a business based around bringing a community together through the medium of comics please learn to treat all customers in the community with the same amount of respect and attention. read more

This is a fantastic little comic shop with a surprising variety of comics and comic related items. Comic books and graphic novels? Got 'em. T shirts? Got 'em. Action figures and statues? Yep, they have them too. They even have a selection of local indie comic books. You can't go wrong with that! I really enjoyed this store. They have a huge range of well organised paperbacks and a huge archive of single issues. My girlfriend and I spent the better part of half an hour browsing through the paperbacks and I found a lot of stuff I knew I couldn't get from my local comic store back home. They also have artist-specific sections, which were great. Their collection of zines and local New Orleans related comics was awesome too, there was a lot of great indie stuff there that you probably couldn't get anywhere else. The clerk was super friendly and happily answered the questions I had about certain titles as well. I went back the following day and bought the last paperback in a series i needed, and the clerk pointed out a great new item that had arrived in-store yesterday which i had been scouring the internet in search of. Without him alerting me to it in the store i probably never would have gotten it. The staff here are really awesome. A great local business and a great comic book store. read more

I walked in having not read a comic in 3+ years and the guy working, Leo, was more than willing to give me updates with all of the different universes to get me up to speed. They had an amazing tpb sale when I was there... 3 for $25, so naturally I bought three of the ones he recommended. All were great. Will be coming here again. I've been collecting for the better part of 35 years, and I can unequivocally state that this is the friendliest comic shop I've ever frequented. From the owner on down, everyone there is both likable and helpful. Their customer service is top notch. The store itself has a solid selection of new books and back issues, and the trades are both well stocked and well organized. The only thing I'd like to see more of is silver & bronze age books, but that's a very minor gripe. This place rocks, I'll be coming here as long as I live in New Orleans. read more

Crescent City Comics is the best comic book store in New Orleans, hands down. I have been coming here since they re-opened after Katrina years ago, and it's only gotten better since then! The staff is super friendly and recognizes me when I visit; I've had multiple new-in-stock comics brought to my attention by them because they're familiar with my tastes, not sure what more you could ask for out of a retail store staff! They have the best local selection of comics available, including mainstream titles, independently published books, local creators, kid friendly titles, art magazines and anthologies, graphic novels, and a plethora of knick knacks and other nerdy merchandise. If you're looking for a regular haunt or just a local place to browse for good comics, CCC is definitely the place to be!! read more

I first heard about this comic shop through a Facebook ad a few months ago, and I've been a regular ever since. Now I can get my comic fix without walking too far. This also doubles as the office for ANTIGRAVITY magazine, so feel free to take a few issues and give them to your friends. The owner also had specials during football season (based on # of Saints victories), so I appreciate the spontaneity. Oh, and Adam G.--from what I can tell, much of the old TPBs are stuff they had in storage before Katrina, so that might explain why not much of it is new read more

This is my favorite comic shop in the United States. The place is clean, well organized, staffed with friendly, knowledgable gentleman eager to help out in any way. It's so refreshing to have the comics sorted entirely alphabetically, without the dumb Marvel/DC divide and the way indies get hidden, like in some other New Orleans comic shops. The layout is one of my favorite parts of the shop. The first thing you encounter is specifically curated picks from the staff, including a great section of classics for new readers. They throw parties from time to time with discounts and free beer, and they are always a fun time. The staff is always helpful with questions and recommendations, especially my man Jonathan. I can't recommend this comic shop enough, especially since you have all the awesome places nearby on Freret. I recommend happy hour at Cure and tipsy comic shopping on Saturday night! If you are going to another one in New Orleans, I don't know why. read more

I've been meaning to duck into this place for a while and the Freret Street Festival gave me an excellent excuse. Wish I'd been here sooner; this is probably the best comic shop in New Orleans. It's clean, well organized, well stocked with both large publications and smaller independent comics both from the New Orleans area and further abroad. Fabulously well stocked with graphic novels, limited edition hard covers, trade paperbacks and back issues as well as the various comic related ephemera like statues and the like. If you're into collecting statues and toys they don't have a huge stock but they happily do special orders; even so they compare favorably with some of the best shops in the world. read more

Really cool shop. I stopped in to grab my weekly comics and ended up having a nice conversation with the clerk. She was friendly and even gave me a few details about the recently announced cancellations from the New 52. It was also interesting seeing the people coming in... they were quite a diverse group. I'm a comic book junkie when in not playing GOW! The shop was cool and modernly designed. I love that the selection was huge but not so much that it overwhelmed you. I'm very OCD and over the neatness and organization of this establishment. The owner of the shop was very down the earth and seemed like a cool dude. I just wish they had yugioh cards lol!
