Beautiful property and amazing people! Our 14 year old daughter wanted to ride her horse on the beach as her 8th grade graduation gift which is about a 6 hour drive from our house. She is the horse girl in our family and we are along to support her however we can. This was our 1st traveling experience staying overnight. Our sweet mare did awesome on the beach and our daughter had the time of her life but when it was time to trailer her up to come home she was not having it. Konnie not only helped our daughter get her horse in the trailer (in under 3 minutes) she took the time to teach her some tricks and give her some advice as this was the 1st issue we have had with her not wanting to trailer. She did this all while being assertive but compassionate. She never made my daughter feel bad for needing help. (She was on the verge of tears) Coming from a mom who doesn't know much about horses it is invaluable to have people like Konnie take the time to teach the younger generation some knowledge. We did not camp THIS time as we have family in the area but we for sure will be back and we will be camping as the property is amazing and very well maintained. Fabulous place to camp with horses. There are large corrals with shelter and water in each one. The fencing is safe and electric. You can camp near your horse . The shower house is clean and hot water is abundant. The trail riding in the Redwoods is absolutely beautiful and nearby. The owners are helpful and available if needed. read more

Nice, very reasonably priced for tent camping. Scenic. Pleasant staff helped us to a great, secluded campsite. Bathrooms were clean and not far from our campsite. Coin operated showers (we didn't try them but I'm sure they're fine.) Level, dry ground. COLD overnight temperature, even in mid July so bring the warm sleeping bag!! Will definitely stay again when in Crescent City. Other campers were quiet, courteous and reasonably far away. read more

We booked a girls' camping trip with horses at Orman Ranch without seeing the place first. So we didn't know what to expect. All of our expectations were exceeded once we arrived at this beautiful, secluded place. Konnie and Keith are impeccable hosts, they are friendly and will answer all of your questions about the area. Horse corrals are large and safe. You don't have to clean up manure in the stalls because the hosts' vacuum! The area is kept clean and pristine. The coin-operated showers are refreshing and the bathrooms are clean. This is a beautiful little gem. We cannot wait to go back! read more

Was going to stay at the ranch for 3 days as my husband and I are getting ready to enter the ministry and wanted to visit California since he has never been before. We had car troubles, called the ranch to let them know our situation before the end of check in time. The ranch took part of our reservation cost and told us that they could have been giving our spot away all day. I feel this ranch made assumptions about our situation along with my husband and I. They would not give us a chance to make it for the rest of our stay. Will not recommend Orman Ranch for a place to stay. Very disappointing. Response to owner of Orman Ranch.-We were stranded in Grants Pass. We curtesy called to let you know why we would be late to our reservation. We explained our situation to you. You were not willing to work with us for the reservation. You made sure we knew you could have been giving our spot away all day. You made us feel that we were not welcomed because we had car issues. Made us feel like we were not good enough to stay on your ranch. We wanted to make sure you knew why we were going to be late. You didn't want to hear about our situation, you kept part of the reservation and canceled the rest of our stay. That is ok. It is in the past, but I feel others should know about what happened. This place is great. There really isn't a bad camping spot. I think we would have been happy with any one of the 27 camping spots. They all have a water source and a portapotty close by. All of them have a sense of privacy ( some more than others); and are consiously placed with that in mind. Support large and small groups. There is a dump station for RVs. A game room for kids/adults. ( Pool table and ping pong). Lots of open space for activities. The roads are grass which keeps the dust level to non existent. Overall a great place to camp. We stayed here last weekend and loved it! We have two rescue dogs - one that is special needs - and the owners of Orman Ranch were very accommodating and helped us find a spacious campsite where our fearful pup would feel safe. We were at site 38, which I highly recommend due to its close proximity to a (clean) port-a-potty and water spigot. It's also off the main loop so it gets less foot traffic. There is no direct sun in the morning but SO much light in the evening that it's bright til 10pm - and there's an opening in the trees too so we stargazed after that! Clean, 15 minutes from the river and the Redwood trails, 5 minutes from town & the beach. What more could you ask for? Only cost $.50 for a lengthy shower. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

This place is what dreams are made of! I could not have been happier at a campground as I was here! The hosts/owners are as welcoming as family! This was my families first time here, and they catered to my special needs dog as well as ensured we had a site with a water source! The sites are so clean and "grandpa" as my son Oliver liked to call him was always around the grounds ensuring everyone's needs were met. I loved taking walks with my boys around the grounds and watching the horses roam as well as seeing the cows in the barn! This place brings families together and is only a few miles from the coastline. This is by far the best camping experience I've had in my entire life, this hidden gem is going to be a destination for my family as many times a year as possible! And they don't price gouge you like they do at the state parks! These sites are huge and secluded! It's a great family campground! If your looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and want to meet some really awesome Crescent City folks, this is the place to go. Located in the heart of the Redwoods you have hiking available, the ocean (2 minutes away), the river (about 15-20 minutes away), and grocery stores nearby. PROS: Well worth the money. Never over priced. Hot showers available (1 quarter=3 minutes) Game room (ping pong, foozball, and pool). Plenty of room for the kids to explore. Large spacious sites. Clean campsites. Most sites have a table and fire pit. Water near sites. Out houses near sites as well as full bathrooms by office. The owners sell firewood in bundles and even in huge bins for longer stays (well worth it!) Very quiet and peaceful. (We camped in mid September.) Owners enforce posted rules and are super cool! Because they also run a ranch, You get to enjoy the beauty of the horses and cows. They have a large trash area to get rid of your own trash so you don't have critters :-) Beautiful, well kept campground. Don't have any CONS. read more

It has been a long time since I've camped there(Oct '09) but I'm sure it's still awesome!! I was looking for a place to camp for a couple days within my budget AND hot showers! Wa-la orman ranch!! The site is huge! I don't think there's enough adjectives to describe this place!! we didn't have an air mattress but had a couple sleeping bags etc...no worries there...the grass is so plush it wasn't "lumpy" or uncomfortable for sleep. The owners(if the same)are so nice and welcoming,i hope they are doing great and are healthy)change for the showers and spare wood for us,which we were lucky being close to them closing for the winter!! So I didn't get to go horseback riding but...I will. I just can't put down how this place makes me feel. I love it...all of it, the sounds, the ocean smell...I highly recommend this awesome campground... read more

The self-proclaimed hillbillies that run this place are California natives with the warmest hospitality I've encountered at a campground - that being said, it's my first experience at a private campground. Orman Ranch offers primitive sites (I think most have picnic tables, but our didn't) on a beautiful property with horses and sheep. The animals are in the middle of the campground, but If you're not an equine enthusiast, don't worry - it doesn't smell! The sites are spaced nicely so you don't feel like another cookie cutter camper like in some of the state parks... that's why you were trying to get away in the first place! There's also shower facilities, billiards and ping pong tables for diversion. Would definitely reccommend crashing here on a redwoods getaway. read more

Family owned and run, they're very kind. Great price for a large and private space (many are enclosed by trees). Firewood is available because you'll have your private fire pit. It's extremely beautiful there. Hot indoor showers, 75 cents will get you a pretty long shower. Indoor bathrooms when the office is open and chemical toilets near each site. EXTREMELY SAFE, which is important to me because I'm a solo traveler, relatively pretty & in my early 20s. Ya never know what could happen. They make sure to close the gates at a specific time at night so nobody can wander in. The WiFi sucks but phone service is phenomenal for some reason. Best campsite ever. Horse rides on the beach, private or semi private camping spots, or ones out in the open where the sun can shine, your choice. Friendly host, and hostess, animals allowed, as long as they don't pester other campers. Less expensive then anywhere else we have camped. We started visiting here about 20 years ago, when my brother and his friends invited us to join them on the summer holidays. Been coming back every summer. We don't have horses, but that doesn't seem to bother anyone. Keith and Connie just officiated our 4th of July smoked-ribs contest. (It turns out that they can be "bought" !) We were told to stay here by a friend. We stayed 4 days and it was a blast!! The people who run the place are soooo nice! Right when we rolled in with the horse trailer they were there to greet us. Our camp ground was a very good size and super clean. Our site had a table and fire pit and was only 25 yards from our horse corral. Corrals are good size and have running water and shelter for the horses. They have a very nice 50' round pin with sand base. From the camp ground it is very close to town and the beach. The Ormans even set us up with a map of some very good places to go trail riding. There hospitality is second to none and we will be coming back!! read more

We were in Crescent City, just before 10 at night, this was our first time RVing so we had not planned ahead for a spot to park our RV. After reading some of the other reviews on the RV parks that were still open we were ready to drive back to Klamath to one of the parks we had passed by earlier. Luckily I took a chance & called the Orman's after reading the excellent reviews. The owner answered the phone right away & informed me the gates closed at 10 pm, not 9 pm like yelp says. I let him know we were close & he stayed open a little later to wait for us. So glad he did! No hook-ups but a beautiful, nice, safe place to park for $16. We do not own a horse but were looking for a campground that allows dogs. Thought I would check it out on my way through. Boy, will I avoid this place! Off my radar. Signs and instructions all over the place! I have no problem checking in and asking permission to drive through. But after about 10 minutes and no one around....I drove through. This place is nice and perfect for what it is. The Neanderthal that flagged me down as I rounded the bend to leave was a mean ass. I was traveling at the highest speed my Dodge van would allow in his cow pasture, about 1 mph. At 49 yrs old I wasn't there to tag or vandalize anything, geeze! Why not run a gas station type bell over the entrance so travelers could be heard entering and the proprietor could be in place to greet with a smile. read more

We happened upon this place while frantically searching for a place to set up camp for the night. We would have accepted anything at that point, but we were pleasantly surprised to find this peaceful, secluded, wonderful place. After a very pleasant and quiet evening I spent a peaceful morning walking around with my daughter and my coffee to look at the horses. If I ever return to Crescent City I'll be coming here again. 7/18/2016 Beautiful setting for each campsite, nicely spaced apart, gave a nice camping feeling and we were able to easily keep an eye out on our horses. Brought our horses & their pasture areas were vacuumed before we put them in (an appreciated feature), they had good sized paddocks, each with run-in shelter & water faucet at each paddock and nice fencing. Very friendly owners with a lot of extra information of places to ride and they were visible, keeping an eye on things. While the campsites were basic, (picnic table, campfire area, water faucet & porta-poty close by), they did have a rec room with foosball & pool table and a really appreciated hot shower. Within a few minutes of trailering, we were in the redwoods with wonderful riding trails or riding out on the beach -- nicely situated! Looking forward to going again. read more
