This is a message for the owner of the crest bar. I wanted to let you know that for the last 2 years your employee Mariano has been telling people that your establishment is closed as early as 8pm. I have seen a party of twelve come by more then once ( a group of college kids) and be turned away . Now all the Sunday night patrons go to the temrose bar instead of your establishment because of being turned away so much by Mariano,stop by there and see for yourself if you can. When I asked him why are you doing this ? His response was " I don't like working Sunday nights" , complaining that he is to tired after the weekend to work sundays, So he was pushing , telling people that if your not hear ( the crest bar) before 8pm ,to not even bother coming,that he would not allow any more people in after 8pm. The only time I have seen him not turn away business is when the owner was present. He has been costing this establishment to much money for to long, and something needs to be done about him. read more

My mom has been raving about this place and wanted me and my boyfriend to try it out. Luckily we all had the night off last night and decided to finally go. In my head I was picturing a little hot and crowded dive bar like a few I've visited before and didn't think it was gonna be "ALL THAT". Come to my surprise, this place is actually pretty spacious and has full booths to dine in addition to the bar top. Great already! Our party of 4 fit comfortably in the booth and we enjoyed a delicious and affordable dinner! The steak with baked potato was so great! Also, a couple others got the cheeseburger and were also satisfied. The portioning was perfect (nice and filling), the price was great! (2 cheeseburger meals, 2 steak dinner meals, and an order of popcorn for $37), and the taste was delicious! The little grill area they have is so cute too. After eating we enjoyed a few games of pool, a game of darts, and chose a list of songs to play on the "modern jukebox" haha. It's a big touch screen on the wall by the pool table. Super cool! Out of all the dive bars in the area, this is by far the worst. Sure it has no atmosphere and no character, and is usually pretty dead - but that's not exactly a grievous reason not to go. The owner is incredibly rude. I've been several times; and several times witnessed him bloviating and just in general being unpleasant. The woman bartender is always sweet though. As consumers we vote with our dollars, and I vote not to encourage that behavior. The Station has the best bartenders and a sense of camaraderie, Tem Rose has some style, Silver Dollar has the crowds at night and varying scenes; I would even go to Paradise Isle before this place (even though it would probably be last on my list). read more

Now it is what it is, a dive bar where a lot of regulars go and its an older crowd but who cares? The people are nice, the meal is just the right portion, and the steak is actually good! My friend and I went in on Sunday and they told us that the cook had the day off so we went on Tuesday (we were determine to have a steak dinner) and the steak was delicious. You get a potato, a small house salad, and a good size steak. My friend and I will be going again! We ate like Queens :) Just a few things: Steak dinner is offered M-Sa, Sunday off. I went there at the recommendation of a co-worker (we are federal government employees). She even said to me, "Si no te gusta, puedes golpearme con la chancleta." (If you don't like it, you can hit me with your flip-flop). So I went with a friend after work and we arrived around 5:30pm on a Tuesday. This time of year (late June) it is still very light outside. There was ample parking in the back and the entrance to the establishment is from the parking area (which means there is no loud traffic noise from the main street). During these pandemic days, everyone wears a mask. We were told that in order for the establishment to continue serving alcohol, patrons must order some food. Bar patrons were eating wings, or corn dogs, or poppers (breaded peppers that were stuffed with cheese and fried). We had a choice of burger or steak. We each chose the steak. It came with salad (lettuce), and a baked potato. The meat was grilled to perfection. Our waitress was extremely attentive. In addition to having many flat screen televisions with sporting events going on (boxing, wrestling), there was also some pleasant easy listening music. Neil Diamond serenaded us to his Sweet Caroline. The bar had clear plastic that separated the patrons from the bartender and the same clear plastic shields separated patron from patron. The restaurant was nonetheless open and people spoke freely while maintaining a safe social distance from one another. Clearly there were regulars in attendance. They enjoyed pleasant conversation with one another. My friend and I were pleased with the portion size and the price. For a local bar and grill, I give this restaurant praise. I have friends who live nearby and can certainly see myself returning. One thing to note... it is a CASH ONLY establishment. Bon appétit ! read more

I've been coming to the Crest since I was 21. (30 years.) Went in before closing for covid-19 the service sucked. The waitress came by asked if we ordered wings. We said no; we'd like to order. @ that point she never said we had to go up & order by grill. We sat there for over 2 hours til we went up & asked if she was going to get our orders. Then she says we have to order by grill. Then it was another 1 1/2 before we got our food. She had our orders all messed up & served people before us that ordered after us. She never went out of her way to see if everything was ok or anything else we needed. Also it wasn't a busy night either. We were there early evening. Very let down & disappointed. Janet (our bartender) was extremely rude and had an attitude since the first moment we walked in. We left early and that's unusual since we are regulars and usually enjoy Barbara who serves us. As a regular I'm very very disappointed with our service tonight. I wish this didn't occur as we usually love this bar and come here often. We love the owners and other bar tenders but after tonight I'm not sure we will be back unless this gets resolved ASAP. I really enjoy coming here on occasion for dinner. Steaks and burgers are great! Food is always fresh and a great deal for the money! I have one complaint.... they don't accept credit or debit cards. Inconvenient, considering I don't usually carry cash on me and I don't like to pay the high fees for a foreign ATM, which they do have inside. I've started a new nursing job and with it, a ridiculous amount of training and intense stress. Between that and my long 12 hour shifts, I really needed a way to wind down and normally that's with great food and drinks. I've been craving a good burger (I also think I'm really hard to please with Apple Pan being my top burger that no where has been able to top but it's so far and the wait is so annoying.) After one particularly stressful shift, I yelped a burger place and this seemed like a great spot to get a drink and a burger. I mentally prepped myself to be disappointed because how good could the food be here? I wasn't sure if all the love was from nostalgic old patrons. I called before coming in to make sure the kitchen wouldn't be closed as it seemed like they tend to close up early if it's a slow night. I got the green light so I quickly drove over with my boyfriend. I got a Texas Mule and we both got a burger plate. When our food came, I quickly dived in and the clouds parted on first bite. Literally, this is exactly the type of burger I had been waiting for. It was delicious!! It tasted homemade and charred and so so juicy. The patty was thick and the pickles/veggies were crisp and refreshing. I devoured the entire burger and couldn't stop feeling overwhelmed with happiness. I know it's dramatic and it could quite possibly be that my drink was strong and I was starving, but genuinely it was such a happy moment for me. Our entire bill came out to be $16 for 2 burgers and a (really strong) drink. I left really really relaxed and satisfied. Also it's really relaxing/spacious inside and I felt really comfortable as Prince and Michael Jackson played on the jukebox. Everyone tells me that nurses heal and save lives, but this place healed and saved MY life. :) I'm planning to make this place part of a weekly routine. Now I don't need to drive to LA to get a good burger. This place is literally a 2 minute drive from home. My life is complete!! Thank you Crest Lounge! I'm giving it a whopping 5 stars! But before you run out to this place, I have to control some expectations. This is a dive bar, the kind of scene where detectives look for the scums of the earth in Soprano episodes. So knowing this and still making the calculated decision to venture out to this little dive bar, you'll probably love it. They got a great deal on steak dinners for 8 dollars. And almost every drink was surprisingly cheap. This fine little tax-evading establishment takes only cash, but that's okay with me because it expels the phenomena of the high bar tab that make your gonads retreat to the safety of your stomach at the end of the night. The clientele is a bit mixed from the times I've been there. It's a blend of the 40-something working class who's received a scar or two from life, a few flannel/mustache wearing patrons, and a few younger groups full of smiles who seem to have come because of the spectacle this crowd/environment creates. The outside of this bar is not welcoming. Because there's no windows, you are not sure what you are stepping into, you feel there's an overwhelming possibility that when you step in, the juke box will stop playing and all eyes may very well turn to meet yours, asking if you are in the wrong place while simultaneously telling you that you absolutely are in the wrong place. Well not so! The bartenders were friendly with an edge and everyone minds their own business! But, if you're looking for average food served with a smile by a sweet lady, then you've stumbled upon the right restaurant. Crest Lounge is a local restaurant that seems to have been around for quite some time based on some torn furniture. Aside from the bar food selection, their menu is limited to a burger meal and steak meal as the two main dishes. Both items are under $10. You get a salad and baked potato with the steak. For the price, the steak is pretty durn good. If you're ordering the steak, expect it to be cooked one way: well. I've been here twice and our waitress always asked how I want the steak cooked. I've said medium both times, but the steak comes back pretty much cooked. It's not chewy cooked, but cooked enough that there is no pink in the meat. Regardless, the flavor is still there. They also have a bar with friendly bartenders. The prices for the drinks are reasonable as well. Basically, I like their service and the food and drinks are great and reasonably priced as long as you understand that this is a neighborhood restaurant. I recommend Crest Lounge if you're looking for a low key, slow service restaurant where you can chill. read more

The Crest is something of a dive bar. It's old and a little stale, but at 45 that's my speed. They have high def TV's over the bar that usually air at least two different games. The booths are comfy. Services can be a little spotty when they're busy and they know it so they often ask if you'd like to get a beer bucket. It's a friendly crowd and some there are some obvious regulars. The juke box has a good mix on it and they're a pool table. It's a great place to have a beer and actually be able to carry on a conversation with a friend or stranger. Anyone who has been here knows that the best thing about this place is the $7.99 steak dinner Mon-Sat. Dude, you can't beat it. It's a decent sized steak, usually cooked perfectly, baked potato, salad, and sometimes bread. Now, I'm all about the beef. I grill, bbq, and smoke meat with a passion. I haven't figured out what cut of meat they serve but it is damn good. It's pretty lean but stays juicy and tender. The cut isn't very consistent as far as shape or thickness, but it's always good. We rolled 12 deep into this little dive bar for their $8 dollar steak dinners which includes a 6-8 ounce steak, garlic bread, salad and baked potato with a whopping load of butter and sourcream. the lady cook and the girl bartender are really nice down to earth people. beers are $3.50 a pop. apparently they're not use to getting high volumes of customers because 3 of my friends missed out on steak because they ran out of silverware! one pool table, a jukebox 50 cents a play from alternative to country to pop to rap. its got like hundreds of different songs. patrons are mostly white 30+ but everyones nice. The place was cool for a bar, my husband went to the bathroom and he told me it smells like a homeless person. Yikes, needless to say I was not going to the bathroom if I don't need to. It was super busy. They have tv's, pool table and food. We came here for a birthday. When we arrived, there was two empty booths and we waited atleast two hours before they took our order for food. They only had one person cooking 'andie' she cooks , cleans the tables, wash the dishes and takes the order. They grill in the back left corner on a small grill. So when she has a lot if orders she has to make them in order. The table next to us order chicken wings, that took up the who grill. Then she had to cook 12 meals after that plus the rest of the people in the bar. Our friends in batches, they enjoyed themselves by playing darts and played some music on the juke box. We ordered the steak dinner and cheeseburger. The steak was made to ordered, Andie made it medium rare. The steak was just tough and chewy. The potatoes were perfect, I added the butter and sour cream. The cheeseburger was marinated perfect with hand made patties. It took about 2 1/3 Hours to get our food, when we left around11:00 and out friends still haven't eaten... The place was super busy. Our meal was like 13+ change. We just gave her 20.00. We had a poor experience at local tea place, and need somewhere for late night food. Unfortunately, there isn't much open after 10pm. The chef's name is Booker, and he is the friendliest server we've ever met. He seems passionate about his food, and proudly claimed to take ownership of his food. Booker is here Tuesdays 10:30-6pm, and Friday through Sunday. He made onion rings from scratch! And of course we tried the $10 steak, and it came out exactly medium rare just as requested. The steak itself was over an inch thick, which was unexpected, but kept the steak extremely juicy. They have Taco Tuesday with $1 tacos and $3 tostadas. Weekends they have brunch until 2pm. He made it all sound really fun. We'll be back for sure. This will probably be part of our normal rotation. read more

After a couple beers ($3.50 for bottled newcastle), ordered the hamburger and it was pretty good for what we payed. These 2 ladies were sitting next to my friend and I and they were ordering mixed drinks that weren't too expensive either. This bar has a pool table and darts and also booth seating for people who come in groups. We came on a Saturday night and it wasn't too packed which was nice. I used to live around the corner from here and went a few times for the $7.99 steak dinner. The steak, potatoes, and garlic bread was really good. Salad not so much but it did not stop me from finishing my plate. Before you come here you must know that this is a hole in the wall. I always have the mentality that if you are with the company you can have fun anywhere. The staff is friendly and the crowd is also friendly typically older people by older I'm mean older than me 30's 40's 50's.... I brought my girlfriends here one time for dinner and they were really pleased. They loved the price and the food in fact we may have a girls night soon and visit again. The décor is definitely outdated so don't expect anything fancy or modern. For me this is a little hidden gem in Temple City, wish I could still walk to this place. :-/ read more

The specialty of the house, and one of the reasons I love going to this place, the steack dinner. For $8.00 you can't beat the steak dinner. They cook it right in front of you, well almost, the open range is at the end of the bar. The dinner comes with a salad (with your choice of dressing) and a baked potatoe (microwaved) that is simply awesome, and a garlic bread. OOOOHHHHHH The Crest Lounge, how I love thee.... I used to hang out at the Temrose and am known for bar hopping around SGV. Anyway, the Crest is such a DRAMA FREE - NO BULLSHIT bar (aside from Al's of course - they are ALWAYS at the TOP of my list) and the bar staff actually knows how to make a drink. I love the steak, I love the box and I like that fact there's a mix of people here. Not always the same faces (same faces in most cases = bar drama) and the blend of young and old people keep it lively.
