Not a lot of fancy Christmas light displays here, rather this attraction is made up of mainly wooden cutouts. The charm is in seeing your favorite characters lit up in the front lawns of homes, some with interactive exhibits, such as the Barbie photo op in a life-sized Mattel box, but otherwise not a lot of moving parts to this event. Many of the artworks are hand-painted, some more impressive than others, and some in better condition than others (a few looked washed out, peeling, flaking, or showing age). But all were lovely nonetheless. A lot of Disney scenes, coming from probably every animated film and you can imagine, including Jungle Book, Lion King, Cars, LIlo & Stitch, Monsters Inc, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Pinocchio. But also other beloved characters like Snoopy, Betty Boop, and Sesame Street. Too many to mention, I didn't see them all cuz the displays were seemingly endless and going in a maze of different directions. Some of the homes and wooden cutouts were not illuminated during our visit (around 8pm on Saturday). But there was more than enough to keep us occupied. And we opted to walk cuz we weren't sure how crowded it would be. But parking looked plentiful in the neighborhood, traffic was surprisingly almost non-existent, and the lighting was done well for each of the homes, so it can be easily viewed via car, plus you can tune into the assigned radio station. However, if you want to take photos, walking is better. I personally prefer more elaborate decor and light displays, but Crippsmas Place has a meaningful history, and is run by volunteers, supporting charities through donations. So there's certainly lots to appreciate. Plus, it's free to visit if you're looking for things to do on a budget. read more

For an absolutely free local attraction, it's worth it! Big Kudos to the teens manning the free candy canes even in the rain! They take monetary donations for multiple different charities. The lights run from 6-10 PM and it runs until New Year's. You can either drive around in your car or you can walk around the sidewalks to check out the decorations. The houses had a combination of lights and homemade wooden cut outs. Lots of series and pop culture being represented such as Sanrio, various Disney movies, Minions, Marvel, etc. I believe there's also a radio station you can tune into as well if you're driving around and Mr. & Mrs. Claus make an appearance on certain nights too. I volunteered here for school and it was quite fun, but I had quite a bad experience with the "presidents" wife. She was the rudest person I have ever met, I don't know who the hell she was but she was a total mess. She yelled right into my face for no reason and completely ruined my night. She also threatened to send me home... literally who yells at a high schooler like that... Very entitled old lady. So happy I am done with my service hours, so I don't have to worry about volunteering here again. However all of my other experiences have been really sweet, I loved the lady that lives right next to here and her son. They were a total vibe to be around! This has been a tradition since the '60s. Crippsmas Place has several blocks of Xmas decorations and lighting. It is located in Fremont Turn right on Nicolet on Fremont Blvd and after a few yards, you'll see the start of decorated houses. Their main site is at the corner of Willington Place where they ask for donations for the event. You'll see a lot of cardboard Disneyland characters gracing the front lawn. Some houses have nice Xmas lights. If you have kids, this is the place to go and be entertained by beautifully decorated houses. read more

I didn't know this place had a yelp review. This is very much a popular local attraction - I was taken here almost every year as a child by my parents and I generally detested it. However, I know realize those feelings were driven primarily by my dad's driving style causing me to want to vomit. As a quick summary, all the local houses in the area put up really cool Christmas decorations, often highly themed character cut-outs. I saw a sanrio one, one for every Disney film imaginable, a Harry Potter one, etc. etc. There's a lot! In practice, most people drive around the neighborhood but if it's actually super fisted, I'd actually recommend walking around because it's a much better experience than stuck in traffic simulator. I went on a rainy day and rain chases away all Californians, so it was easy to drive around. But normally, watch out for the traffic! Anyways, it's free though there are local teenagers collecting donations for various local charities and I guess it feels pretty bad not to contribute since a lot of people went to so much effort to make this happen. But it's basically affordable and charitable simultaneously. Just a really cool thing to go to every year and a great local tradition. Unlike some traditions that seem to be fading, the amount of houses that participate seem to go up every year. Nice! read more

Disclaimer: I was looking for Christmas decorations that could be seen during the day; no evening light show desired. Three-year-old Jenbert Jr. and I came here on Christmas Eve morning since nighttime is not practical for us to visit. It was fun for her to walk around the neighborhood and look at all the different gigantic plywood decorations that are put up. Nearly every childhood favorite from Disney to Looney Tunes to Paw Patrol to Sanrio and Scooby-Doo. Sports themes too, such as the Oakland A's elephant. She loved it and wanted to take a photo in front of every house that had decorations. This place gets crowded at night, seriously, it backs up and turns red on Google Maps, so be prepared to take your time and wait if you come in the evening. I'm glad we came during the day when no one else was around and we had it all to ourselves to enjoy seeing the giant plywood characters up close. Also, I think this place focuses more on the plywood decorations than having elaborate lights. It's being its own unique Christmas festivity rather than trying to compete with the other light shows. This was just alright. We were disappointed as we like to look at Christmas lights and the houses here don't have many lights. The houses that do participate have basic lights around the roof (if any) and painted wood figures in the yard with spot lights on them. Some houses just had one wood figurine with no lights. Some were themed while others had random characters mixed together. There was one house that was decorated with the UP theme and had a ton of lights so that one was our favorite. It was something to do around Christmas time but I wouldn't come back here. I'd rather drive father and actually see a bunch of Christmas lights. read more

An amazing Christmas display that's been going for years, we LOVE visiting it each year. Seventy plus homes have their front yard decorated with handmade wooden cut outs. Very different from the regular Christmas decoration, this place is a great watch for kids and adults alike. The experience can be enjoyed walking along the sidewalks or through the car. Make sure to arrive early as the streets are FULL of cars closer to Christmas. Though it is a free event, they accept donations. The donations collected go to various charities each year. Open 6-10 nightly, the volunteers hand out candy too. A great event to witness each year, it gets more and more colorful and lively each time. Totally recommend this for kids. They would love to identify their favorites like Nemo, Mickey Mouse, Shrek etc in the display. read more

You won't be disappointed! The lights are beautiful, it's family friendly. I go every year with my family. It's throughout the neighborhood, so I love that it's spread out. We heard about this from a friend and wanted to check it out, the biggest thing to note is there are very few light decorations, most houses have large cut-outs of cartoon characters, video game characters, Disney, etc...with a spotlight on it. Really liked the hand-made art and how much effort the neighborhood put into this but like others have commented we prefer seeing lights. We came at 6:30 on a Sunday and it's really crowded since it's drive-through only. Traffic will move VERY slowly and it will smell heavily like gasoline and fumes. Even though it's supposed to be drive-through there were still a lot of people walking around that will stop in front of houses and block your view. We actually left right after driving around Cripps Place. If you want to check it out definitely recommend coming very late at night but if you are parents like we are that's hard to do. On the way home we drove through some normal neighborhoods that weren't online and I recommend just doing that, it'll be a lot less crowded and there are more lit up houses to see. Check out the HUGE lit up tree at Meyer Park, it was amazing and we found it by just driving toward a tall lit-up thing we saw in the sky. read more

Great Holiday lights neighborhood. 3 different courts plus some other additional houses.

This is probably my third year coming here. I'm pretty sure there are less lightings this year though a few houses have a bit something new (Barbie Photo Booth for social media). Most are the same so you can scroll through the pics and decide if it's worth the drive. There are very few spots on the block where there are consecutive house lightings so that's why I say it's less this year. On a Thursday night around 6:30 there weren't that many cars, traffic flowed pretty well, well enough for you to crawl slowly without cars behind you losing their patience. Not an exceptionally cold night, many families had their kids walking the streets to enjoy the lights. Appreciate the community here to decorate their front yards for all to enjoy. read more

I discovered this spot through an article online and wanted to visit as they stressed this being a drive thru + the proximity to home. The thought behind this is great as a charity, but the cutouts were unfortunately a bit underwhelming. Some of the cutouts were great in detail, but were difficult to admire while in the car. We saw quite a handful of folks walking and admiring the cutouts - please don't do so especially as signs have stressed that this year should be drive thru only! I can see this being a fun excursion for young children if you're nearby, as there are quite a few blocks of cutout-filled houses, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. read more

I've lived in Fremont my whole life and barely came here last Christmas. It's been around for awhile and it's sucha cute walk full of Christmas displays and lights. We're in the pandemic so finding Christmas stuff for the kiddo is a challenge. I'm a Bay Area native, with that being said. I never heard about this place until I saw it on the news. I had to check it out. The neighborhood is decorated with numerous characters with some lights. But some of the houses that had them the light bulbs don't work anymore. Needed to be replaced. Also when I was watching the news they welcomed street vendors to drum up business. But there was none. Quite frankly I was disappointed. I saved my cash for them! Why one star was docked down for this review. It's completely free but donations are gladly accepted for charity. You can tune into a special radio broadcast about the neighborhood. You'll see that on the banners around the neighborhood. Pretty easy to get to right off from Fremont Blvd. Pack you're patience when you arrive. The traffic is insane. By now you know I am a Christmas lights fanatic making my way around to the life sized gingerbread house, sugar castles, and Christmas Tree Lanes around the Bay. I remember coming once here during college but with so many displays and events and so little time, I did not realize that Crippsmas Place was still around. We finally made it back a couple of days after Christmas. Most of the "festivities" that goes with it ends on Christmas Eve so maybe we did not get the full atmosphere but it was also kind of nice having it almost all to ourselves. This one is more cardboard cutouts than lights and unfortunately not all the houses had the spotlights on anymore so felt like something was missing. It was good to see that they are still raising donations for charity all these years later and is a fun stop for kids or for nostalgia. Personally, I prefer lights that transports me to a winter wonderland or a different place and time like the Victorian Houses on Espada Court but I really cannot complain about anything holiday related that puts a smile on my face. read more

Light or dark, fun times like a park. I've had fond memories going to this location growing up. I wanted to share it with my little one, as well as the ones whom took me there. The little one is always amazed at the pictures, the cardboard cut outs (we've gone 3x this year). We avoided the traffic in the days but, you kind of miss out on the lights as well. Maybe another time. I do remember traffic waits can get a bit long. If you plan to take the little ones, or even for your self, I'd definitely recommend. I heard about this place from one of the news articles came our recently. Surprised to learn that it's a tradition going on for very long time and I haven't even heard about this. But better late than never. It's located in Wellington Pl. And of course, you have to get it in the long line on Fremont Blvd, around 1000 feet from Nicolet Ave; consider yourself lucky if you don't have to wait that long. We took almost 2 hours on Christmas eve finally see this. I had a fair idea what to expect from here. That neighborhood is decorated with a lot of wooden cutouts of cartoon characters, not the typical lightings you expect for a Christmas decorations. It's more like a place for kids than adults. They can see and enjoy only a bit from the cars; would have loved it more if it wasn't a drive-thru. On your way out, you can check the near by areas as well. There are a lot of houses decorated around that area. Please check the official website of Crippsmas, you can donate there for a good cause. Though it's a drive thru experience, there were plenty of people out there walking and enjoying the displays. It's roughly a 3 mins drive around that area. But the wait for close to 2 hours. Love this place!!! Nostalgia at it's finest. I've been coming here since I was a little kid so well over 20 years and I'm never let down, it's always an amazing experience. I revert back to my childhood and feel like a little kid again when walking down the street and down every court. "Crippsmas Place" is what is now called but to those who have been coming for years it's simply known as Cripps Court. Crippsmas Place was started in the 1960's by Fremont resident Robert Cantley as a fundraiser for Leukemia Lymphoma Society in honor of his mother. For almost 50 years Robert and his neighbors have been lighting up the houses on the court and surrounding courts along with wood cut-outs of your favorite cartoon characters. Kids, adults and everyone will find this place so cool. Some houses have your traditional multicolored lights, icicle lights or flashing lights that change in color. You will find that most if not all the houses in the courts surrounding Cripps Court have the wood cut-outs of various characters ranging from Mickey Mouse and Friends, Smurfs, Nightmare Before Christmas to Power Rangers, Roger Rabbit and Ninja Turtles. It's fun and festive and all for a good cause, you can walk or drive and at the end of Cripps Court are people with buckets taking donations and handing out candy canes. Although I am an adult now I will always make sure to visit during Christmas time and they hold a special place in my heart. If you are in the Fremont area and if you have kids or you don't I would highly suggest coming here, you will not be disappointed!!! read more

This is one of our annual Christmas light stops. All donations received are allocated to multiple children's charities which makes this one of our favorite places to go. It's nice to park the car down the street and stroll through the multiple blocks of lights. Keep yourself warm and plan on hitting a place with hot chocolate afterwards. read more

We never knew this place existed till this year! It's pretty cool having this near our house, especially since rarely anything happens in UC/Fremont. We drove by here our first time, then I came back here on Christmas Eve and decided to walk around the area. Great place to bring a date, family, friends, and especially the kids! It's free although donations is accepted (proceeds go to local charities). Each houses are theme with wooden cutouts of cartoon characters such as Mickey Mouse and friends, Disney princesses, Wreck it Ralph, Star Wars, etc and a bunch of lights. Should only take less than 30 min to walk the entire 4-5 blocks. Then you can drive around the area later and find more houses a bit further away fully decked out. One of the house had cartoon being projected on the walls of the house and Santa was there on Christmas Eve taking pictures with kids. It's nice seeing random characters, such as Family Guy, on people's lawns. Do check this out when you can! We'll be back next year. read more

Amazing place for young kids to enjoy the Christmas spirit!! The houses are well lit and have very nice decorations

It's really wonderful to see the work that goes into Crippsmas. This history is also really touching and all this effort goes towards good causes. But it's important to know that it's not your traditional Christmas decorations. I was expecting lights, Santa, candy canes and other classic decorations. Instead, the houses were decorated with life-size cutouts of cartoon characters. Traffic to get into the neighborhood was 20 minutes from the main road. There are multiple streets participating in Crippsmas but there is mostly 1 main cul de sac, so traffic was backed up. Overall, it may be fun for young kids, but if you're looking for a "winter wonderland" type of feeling, visit some other neighborhoods as well. read more

Not really Christmas light displays. It's mostly just board cutouts which wasn't really my cup of tea. It spreads across few blocks (see my picture) and supposedly there's Santa every night at Wellington when it's closer to Xmas (went on 12/19 Tuesday night and Santa left around 9.30pm because no one was around). That's also where they hand out candy canes and ask for donations. If it's not busy, probably just walk around Wellington and drive through the rest. There's no duplicates on the display. Would actually be nice is there's a map with all the characters info. Lights are turned off by 10pm so don't come too late. There's also no display with music but it's great to see neighborhood that unites together and share some Xmas joy read more

I've been going to Crippsmas place since I was a kid and I now take my kids every year! Love this little tradition in our hometown!

We just took our 3 kids here for the first time to see Christmas lights. We were EXTREMELY disappointed! I must say that the characters on the lawns are nice, the artwork is impressive... however, the lights are scarce!!! Christmas is about lights! Do not expect much in this department if that's what you're looking for. This neighborhood has potential to look incredible if they added more lights to the homes. There were some lights, but definitely not what I expected when googling "Christmas lights"... a huge waste of time. read more

Growing up in Fremont, Crippsmas Place was always the spot to visit during the holiday season. My parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and I would walk or drive through the area multiple times during Christmas time. This place always brings back nice memories for me.The place is beautifully decorated with wooden cutouts of various characters (muppets, Nemo, Hercules, other Disney characters, Avatar, etc) and the lawns and houses are dazzling with lights. I decided to re-visit this place this past Christmas and became nostalgic. I always love seeing parents with their children go through each block. The best part is seeing how excited all the kids are. It reminded me so much of how excited my cousins and I would get. This year they had a group of adorable children singing Christmas carols on Crippsmas St. and my friend and I could not help but loiter around just to hear the jingles. Even if you don't have kids, go with your significant other, a close friend, or other extended family members. This place is good for all ages and really puts you in the Christmas spirit. read more

Covid 19 Holiday Season: seeing the displays at Crippsmas place has always been one of my favorite traditions. Getting through the traffic this year took 10-15 minutes which isn't bad at all since more people are staying in their cars. The decorations were beautiful as always. There were signs posted telling people to please stay in their cars for this year and of course there were people that still didn't listen and walked around anyways. Also donations are being accepted online this year instead of collecting cash. I highly recommend this Christmas display. read more

Christmas magic mixed with all your beloved cartoon characters, going on court after court ... this neighborhood is seriously awesome! Seriously one of my favorite things on the planet is those magical twinkling lights that get placed around window seals every December, it makes the traffic and rush of driving around all holiday season seem a little more like play. When neighborhoods come together and all deck out their houses it becomes even more awesome. It's seriously fantastic when a street of homes can become a community, and offer up their lawns to spread some joy. Crippsmas Place has more houses participating in their little wonderland than any other neighborhood I've seen. Multiple courts are lined up with more than just the lights - each lawn also becomes home to giant cardboard cartoon characters from basically ever little critter, movie, and childhood connection that's ever made you laugh then cry then laugh again. It's the perfect place for the whole family to drive/walk around trying to spot anyone's favorite characters, ranging from the classics to new show's for kid's. We spotted Pokemon, Family Guy, South Park, the whole Winnie the Pooh gang on a train, Mickey and all his pals, Looney Tunes, Disney Princesses, Lilo & Stitch, Angry Birds, Peanuts, everyone surrounding the manger, Rudolph, Santa, Avengers, Bob the Builder, and so many more! One of the great traditions my heart family started is an after-dinner walk around the whole Crippsmas Place. For three years in a row, we've been going to this wonderful neighborhood reminiscing our childhood cartoon characters. Every year new cartoons get added. I particularly love the Snoopy characters. They do have their own little Christmas tree matched by the Vince Guaraldi Trio music at the background. I will never get tired walking around this colorful little town. Great place to take the kids! If you drive through the neighborhood, it takes about 10 minutes at a snails crawl. That's a short enough to entertain the kids without dragging on too long. However, you can also park nearby and walk around the neighborhood instead. There are lots of families with kids and strollers doing this and if it's not too cold then that's really the best way to go. If you can't get enough of the lights, we noticed that many of the nearby streets had beautiful lights too so you can always keep driving till the kids fall asleep. Remember to bring along some hot chocolate to keep you warm and a donation for their fundraiser. On one of the streets, there is a place where you can donate to their charity and also get a candy cane. :) read more
