I found this place through a Facebook ad. The place looked so cute, and I thought it would be a good weekend outing for me and my family. I reached out to AAH and set up a time for a Smile Farm Tour. On the day of, we met with the tour guide and were taken on the Smile Farm Tour. The walking area is ADA/stroller accessible, but do expect that the ground may be muddy/dusty. My son was initially okay with seeing the animals, but eventually got fussy for the remainder of the tour. Some of the animals we saw on the tour were rabbits, (mini?) horses, goats, sheep, guinea pigs, and ducks. We were able to pet the rabbits and guinea pigs on our tour. We really enjoyed the tour and plan to bring our son again once he's a bit older. Parking was easy since we arrived in the morning. When we left, the parking lot was fuller since the farm is adjacent to a large park. read more

Such a cute place. Paid them a visit a couple weeks ago. Love that they aren't too small or too big. Just the perfect size to get in and out of there while enjoying a quick picnic at one of their benches. I took my daughter and her close friend to Animal Assisted Happiness on Sunday. Admission is free, though donations are appreciated, and the entrance fee is $6 per vehicle. The site was crowded at 12:30 p.m., yet it remains a pleasant destination for children. We stayed at Animal Assisted Happiness for 30 minutes, and goats stand out as my preferred choice among the rest. I enjoyed the warm weather in Sunnyvale. read more

I had heard so many good things about this place that I really wanted to take my son there . It's a lovely bright place with so many animals ( rabbits , goats , sheep , horses , guinea pigs , llama , chicken etc ) . The staff is extremely friendly and I can see how popular it is with the number of volunteers there . My son is special needs and it takes him time to warm up but I will certainly bring him here again . Ps . Kids can pet rabbits , guinea pigs , chicken . I attended a company-wide volunteer event at AAH and it was such a blast. The animals here help bring joy to so many people and the workers are all very passionate about what they do. The people here even took time to give us a tour of the farm and to tell us more about their mission before we got started with volunteering. We got to interact with many of the animals before we got to work. I hope I get a chance to come back and volunteer in my own time in the future. I believe they also have open hours where people can come to visit the farm on Tuesdays and some Sundays. read more

This is such a great nonprofit! Fun / convenient for kids - We have been lucky enough to enjoy open hours a few times with our young toddler on the second Sunday of the month. It's a small but mighty, colorful space with various animals for petting or holding. You and your kid(s) can hold chickens and rabbits (a few times there were other holding animal options including a bird) and pet others from outside the fences. The place is staffed with volunteers young and old, and I've been so impressed with the friendliness and patience of the young volunteers with my son. My husband and I were both saying that it'd be great if our own kids could volunteer here one day. Logistics - - The place does get pretty packed, so I recommend showing up very early (at 10am opening). - Parking is easy / there is a large parking lot, though it does get full if you show up later - Very reasonable $5 suggested donation per person. - Porta potty for bathroom needs - Bring hand sanitizer read more

What a wonderful non-profit where you can visit animals up close! They have mini-horses, a mini-donkey, alpacas, goats, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, pigs, chickens, ducks, and doves. You can see the larger animals easily through the fence. For the rabbits and guinea pigs, the volunteers will bring them out of their cages for you to pet and hold! You can also go into the chicken coop and dove coop. I just loved how welcoming the volunteers were, and how eager they were to share facts about the animals and help you pet/hold them. I feel like at big petting zoos, the staff act like they're tired of visitors, but not here! I mean, I was shocked that they encouraged my 1.5 year old to hold a rabbit, but he did great and was so happy. You can schedule private visits, virtual visits or come during their open public hours: Tuesdays 1-5pm and 2nd Sunday of each month from 10am-4pm. I came on a Tuesday and it was pretty empty. It's located in Baylands, which has a $6 parking/entry fee, but the Smile Farm itself does not charge an entry fee and is donation-based (suggested $5/person). Bring cash! Wonderful non profit that helps people through animals. I brought the little ones here during public hours to see some animals to be held and they loved it! Almost everyone working here is a volunteer so be sure to be kind. They have chickens, doves, rabbits and guinea pigs to be held. They also have alpacas, horses l mini horses, and goats to look at. For holding animals, just take a seat and the volunteer will come and place an animal in your lap. They had a lot of sanitizer and everyone was wearing masks (in part to protect the animals). This place is located in baylands which means parking is $6 and they do have a box for donations, so technically not free, but it's going to a great cause! Both kids loved it and didn't want to leave since the animals were so calm. As of July 30, they are open every Tuesday, and second Sunday of the month. One last thing, no bathroom on site except a single port o potty. Suggest bringing your own little potty if you have little ones. TL:DR - non profit animal petting zoo. read more

We went to this Animal Assisted Center after I saw one of family lifestyle instragammer posted about this place. This place is located in the heart of Sunnyvale. There's no fix entrance fee, but the recommended donation is $5 per person. Or $20 for family of four. Not too many animals that they have on the farm. But they have sheep, pigs, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs. However, kids are only allowed to pet them, not to feed. We feel that the experience can be taken to next level if kids can feed the animal, even for a small price tag, I think most of people are willing to have that experience. Would I recommend? Sure, for little kids who never pet animals before. But for older kids, it may bore them or if your kids are interested in animals, this may be their center of attraction. read more

I was having a crummy day, and decided that this would be the best place to cheer me up. Shoutout to the volunteer in the front, Jacqueline (?), for making sure I had a nice time. This is such a wonderful place to support a non-profit and spend time with animals. This beats out any zoo, all day. This is more intimate and you're able to be hands on with so many animals!! I got to pet chickens, guinea pigs, bunnies and even feed goats. All for FREE! They also had doves, alpacas, horses, pigs & more. I can't say enough good things about this place. Animal assisted happiness provides a therapeutic experience for community groups in need. They frequently travel with their animals to provide an interactive experience to hospitals, residential programs, day treatment centers, schools, therapeutic schools, preschools, and more. Everyone that I have met who works with the agency is amazingly warm hearted and caring. This group provides so much support for individuals in our area, we are very lucky to have them. I am very grateful to their founders we're having this vision of their personal animals and other animals that they have collected to provide this therapeutic animal support service to the community. I volunteered a few times. The people are friendly and willing to give us advice on how to handle animals. It's clean and wonderfully decorated by volunteers and scout troops. I recommend coming here during the weekdays, since there is less people and you won't have to wait your turn to interact with animals. read more

Great couple of hours spent with our nearly 2 year old daughter on one of the rare weekend days they're open. We reached right when they opened and it was easy to find parking and no wait to go in. There were lots of volunteers and we were able to see and meet guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens. All in all a great morning and our daughter had a blast! read more

With Covid happening all around us, Fairbrae Swim & Racquet Club was able to do a virtual barnyard visit at AAH and I have to tell you, it was really special! Claire, one of the volunteers did a great job showing us around the facility. She told us every animals name, and there are MANY and told us some great facts about each of these animals. This place is fantastic!!! We have a private visit with nick and he was wonderful. My daughter totally warmed up to him and she had the best time ever! So many animals! Accidentally discovered this place while visiting Baylands park. Better than other petting zoos. A lot of nice personal touches by volunteers that colorfully decorated the place. You get to see the names of eat animal. Very nice volunteers that let you get up close and learn more about each animal. read more

We didn't have the best experience after driving for 40 minutes to this place. My neurodivergent son was very happy when he entered the farm. After about 5 minutes he was told that he cannot go into the open room where they keep the food and hey. He was very interested moving the big doors, but again he was told not to touch them in a very strict manner. I was under the impression that we could pet the lamas and sheep, but they didn't allow us to go into their areas. I wander how they train their volunteers, no one was friendly and everyone spoke to my son in a very abrupt and loud tone of voice. My son quickly got very upset and we had to leave after 30 minutes. Animal Assisted Happiness is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to "enrich the lives of children and their families experiencing special needs, health or family challenges". At Animal Assisted Happiness Smile Farms, located at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, children are able to visit and interact with animals including miniature horses, sheep, goats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, doves, miniature pigs, and a donkey named Jingle Bells. The farm is open to the public on Tuesday afternoons as well as one Sunday per month. Parents of children with special needs can also schedule private visits to the farm. The staff and volunteers also regularly take animals to local schools and other venues to bring happiness to children in need. They're a wonderful organization and we're so glad to have them in Sunnyvale! Also, AAH Smile Farms has recently begun hosting birthday parties for children of all abilities. Our daughter had a birthday party at the farm this past weekend and we were blown away by the whole experience. The parents had just as much fun as the children and the calming effect that the animals had on the children was icing on the cake. The kids had a great time interacting with the animals and the volunteers were kindhearted and patient with the children. AAH Smile Farm also does an amazing job of taking care of and loving their animals. There's plenty of room for the animals to roam and AAH continues to update the farm and make improvements for the benefit of both the children who visit as well as the animals who reside at the farm.
