ordered a gluten free pizza. This was NOT gluten free!!
    Holly N.

First time ordering carryout at this location. I've only been to the Troy location for dine in. The only positive thing I have to say is that the restaurant was clean and my pizza was on time and ready when i arrived. i ordered a gluten free Margarita pizza with double cheese. They gave me a regular Margarita pizza, The cheese was regular and not extra and i'm 100% positive it was not gluten free because I got severely ill few hours afterwards. It's one thing to get a topping incorrect but messing around with food intolerances/allergies is unacceptable! The cooks need to be more careful and attentive when they see the words "gluten-free,, dairy free, shellfish free, ect. I will NOT be returning. There are many other pizza places i can go to in the area that prioritize food allergies to ensure their customers are safe.

If you asked me 5 years ago what the best pizza in Berkley was, I- Wait, no. If you asked ANYBODY 5 years ago what the best pizza in Berkley was, everyone would say Crispellis on Woodward. These days, it's closer to Green Lantern Pizza. The management over the years has gotten nicer and more refined, I love the social aspect of everything. It's probably the most fun you'll have going to a restaurant. The energy is so alive, and the people are so kind! However, the food is a different story. I remember this used to be the GO TO ITALIAN CUISINE, the crust had an immaculate crunch that I could compare to curb stomp, a tomato that... was just heavenly. You couldn't compare that tomato, to anything. So good. The cheese aswell? I will not lie, the cheese always had a hard time staying on due to the undercarriages light nature, but I honestly don't care. I like floppy, messy pizzas as long as they have a nice crunch and tastes delicious. If I went into Crispellis today, and got the usual 11' Margarita, it would not have that crunch. Which sadly doesn't make up for the overly heavy cheese that denies to access to pick up, specifically as a straight, evenly distributed pizza with a nice char at the bottom. However, the tomato actually pops better than ever. I don't know if they put all there budget costs into making a fresher marinara, but oh lord, the tomato is everything. The pasta has never changed, still love their Spaghetti, it gets me full every-time. And overall, I've always loved the inside, i haven't been to any other locations besides this one, but I'd be surprised if this wasn't the biggest. When you think it's over, they take you to a bigger dining area. Never assume the first thing you see is all that's there, to your right there's a whole new bar area for anyone who wants to have fun. I still love Crispellis, but it's not the same pie like it used to be. 4/5

Service was very good! The place is very nice to sit and relax! They have outdoor seating as well. Our Pizza's came out tasty as well. They also have self serve Pizza's where you can just order and take one of the tables in the area right by the Pizza ovens.

I have been here several times and always enjoy the experience. My favorite pizza options are the Margherita pizza and the Prosciutto and Arugula pizza. Highly recommend taking the larger size as the slices are pretty thin. Restaurant is self serve so you can go up to the stations to order on your own.

We went to Crispelli's and sat on the outdoor patio--such great vibes! To order food, you go up to the front counter to place your order and pay, and if you're dining in, they'll bring it to your table. We started off with a bottle of wine and then ordered the Michigan Salad, Cheesy Bread, Shrimp & Chorizo Pizza, and the Grilled Chicken Club. The sandwich comes on sourdough bread, and I couldn't choose between the basil pesto mayo and chili garlic mayo, so I got both on the side. (Pro tip: they're both amazing for dipping fries into!) Everything was bomb. No complaints. Highly recommend!

Crispelli's was delicious! My aunt recommended for us to try! We got the pepperoni Margherita pizza and the Italian panini. Our favorite entree was the pizza for sure! The chips on the side of the panini tasted so fresh, and the bread was amazing. The staff was all very kind, love being in Michigan. It's very laid back in a good way. Reserve a table, then order at the front, or with the QR code. The bakery had some really nice pastries, goodies, and bread! We opted for the small cannolis! Very tasty, perfect ratios.

Prosciutto & Arugula pizza on gluten-free crust
    Charlie C.

Ordered the Prosciutto & Arugula pizza on gluten-free crust for takeout. It came out looking like this and missing the arugula. We had to wait an extra 15-20 minutes past our estimated pick-up time. The rest of our larger order besides for this pizza was closer to what we expect from Crispelli's, and as it was near the end of the day we were offered some of their bakery items for free. 3 stars to even out the good with the bad.

I really enjoy the salmon sandwich, and I tried the minestrone today. I'm very pleased. I ordered online and it was ready before I arrived. Great for a lunch run.

A year ago I'd have given this location a 5 star review. The last few times I've ordered the pizzas tastes rubbery. NOT the way it used to look or taste. I'll only be going to Supino's for my pizzas.

Came here before a show on a Friday night. It was quite busy so we were sat in the self-service section. You can either go up to the counter or from your phone and they'll bring it out to you. Pizza was super crispy and very hot fresh out of the oven. Caesar salad was also very good, the dressing tasted homemade. Super cute place! We've already been talking about coming back to try a different pizza.

The result is a mouthwatering pie-like pizza that you're not getting anywhere else. If you want a lot of topping options, Louis isn't for you, it's far more limited than competitors, but I would argue they perfect the basics. The interior is charming in a straight out of the 1970s sort of way. The dining area can get pretty loud but the noise level is friendly and it's great being in a full restaurant surrounded by other people having a good time. There's a strong community feeling you don't get in sterile, corporate chains or local takeout spots. Despite my overwhelming praise for the pizzas they make, I also have to be honest. In the most charitable way possible, I hope that they can take some of their much deserved recent success and reinvest it back into the business because the front of house staff is regularly in over their heads. You can safely add 15 minutes to whatever time they quote you when placing your order. I had one order that was close to 30 minutes late and another that was missing all the extra sauces. As a result, pickup orders are very frustrating. The other criticism I have is that the parking lot is very crowded and routinely spills out into the surrounding streets. The lot size is limited, so not much they can do but they could work with the city to repave the lot and color label certain areas. I hope more people check out Louis. It is a gem.

As a New Haven pizza fan, the REAL kind, I was extremely disappointed. I know that after having eaten the real New Haven (Pepe's, Sally's, and Modern), I need to tighten down my expectations, but come on! They have these beautiful ovens, a nice, clean, and pleasant place and they turn out what I would consider pizza no better, perhaps a little less good than Hungry Howies thin crust pizza! New Haven is supposed to be crispy and chewy, NOT soggy. I tried Farmington Hills a few months ago and ate in, then last week tried Birmingham and carried out. For those of you thinking that my carry-out experience may have been bad due to the 3 miles I had to drive home, but I've carried out a LOT of pies from a LOT of locations, and I DO take that into account. There are some positives: The ingredients were impeccable. Fresh, high-quality cheese and the mushrooms were done really well. The pepperoni was of good quality but nothing worth writing home about. There are a lot of great pepperonis in the area. The doneness was great. It wasn't over- or undercooked. The flavor was good, but not, as some have said, amazing. In both cases, the crust was limp and soggy, NOT chewy and crispy. Not in the least. I don't mind if it's a little bit floppy, but not like this. An analogy I might give is to compare Tomatoes Apizza to Modern Apizza in actual New Haven is like comparing Jets Pizza to Loui's. Jet's is fine, but Loui's! (If you know, you know). To me, Modern in New Haven is at par, and not to be sacrilegious to our beloved Detroit Style, with Loui's or Palazzo Di Pizza, so it's not a style issue. My two experiences were both the same, so I don't know what to think. I'll give them one more try at some point.

I opted for the garlic fries upcharge, bringing my total to $19.00. Somehow I justified it because I like these toppings and these toppings weirdly weren't available on a pizza. Or at least I didn't see it via the phone based ordering system. Yes, that's right, this is all of the future check with wrist bands and pour your own beer situation. Don't look for a paper menu, they ain't here. My sandwich wasn't a grilled cheese. It was basically pesto toast with large sun-dried tomatoes and scraps of mozzarella. Baby spinach was just missing. I did inquire to the host (perchance the only actual employee?) and he did talk to the kitchen and I guess they were out. With that information I turned to my friend Robert and said, "You know why we have servers? So they can let you know they're 86 spinach." I suppose I would have adjusted my order had I known this too. What's nuts is, they have ingredients to make a better grilled cheese. I mean, step one: add cheese. Why not mix the ricotta and pesto together and then add like havarti or something that may actually melt and have flavor. The sun-dried tomatoes should be sliced smaller. The garlic fries were fine, but also could have had more flavor. Robert's and neighboring table's pizza looked fine. Is it better than any other place offering Detroit style pizza? Hard to say. I guess I'm not in a hurry to go back. The kind host did make an adjustment to my bill for lack of spinach--but having a server would have prevented that being necessary.

I was heading home hungry when I passed Elephant & Co, a restaurant I had on my radar for months…read more It was way past lunch and well before dinner, so I was surprised by the steady stream of customers in this pizza/tap/game room, a difficult genre to define. Upon entering, the staffer explained the set-up to enjoy a variety of beers, poured and priced by the volume. Located at the back of the restaurant, customers can select beer flavors and serve themselves, no bartender needed. A tab is started and charged based on usage, tracked through the wristband provided to you. I ordered over mobile via a QR code, selecting pretzel sticks with beer cheese dip and a large, Detroit-style pizza. The soft pretzels were tender with a lovely crusty exterior. I inhaled the first pretzel since it was past lunchtime, savoring the salty, cheesy bites. I must admit, the pretzels' saltiness temporarily affected my taste buds because the pizza had little flavor, even with the pepperoni, sausage, and olives. I definitely did not taste the hot honey drizzle. I want to praise the light, airy crust. For a deep dish pizza, it did not sit heavy in my tummy. I also appreciated that the pizza was served on a rack, to allow air circulation and to prevent sogginess. The space was dark and had both large communal tables and smaller, intimate tables. This allowed for larger groups to enjoy community beyond a friend group. The other plus is the board games that are available to pass the time while enjoying various beers.
