Came here with my sister and we split a small salad, a meatball, and cheesy bread - the "small" salad was definitely large enough! First time ordering carryout at this location. I've only been to the Troy location for dine in. The only positive thing I have to say is that the restaurant was clean and my pizza was on time and ready when i arrived. i ordered a gluten free Margarita pizza with double cheese. They gave me a regular Margarita pizza, The cheese was regular and not extra and i'm 100% positive it was not gluten free because I got severely ill few hours afterwards. It's one thing to get a topping incorrect but messing around with food intolerances/allergies is unacceptable! The cooks need to be more careful and attentive when they see the words "gluten-free,, dairy free, shellfish free, ect. I will NOT be returning. My daughter and I were sat right away at 5:45 on a Friday. Friendly service. The staff had to make a couple table arrangement changes around us, which was no big deal. But they were appreciative of our flexibility, and offered us free cookies. :) We split the meatball appetizer, which was amazing, and we both had salads. They were fresh and delicious. The small salad was more than enough for a meal. I ended up needing a box. It's a loud, busy place, but a fun atmosphere. Can't wait to go back! Our server was very helpful and friendly. If you asked me 5 years ago what the best pizza in Berkley was, I- Wait, no. If you asked ANYBODY 5 years ago what the best pizza in Berkley was, everyone would say Crispellis on Woodward. These days, it's closer to Green Lantern Pizza. The management over the years has gotten nicer and more refined, I love the social aspect of everything. It's probably the most fun you'll have going to a restaurant. The energy is so alive, and the people are so kind! However, the food is a different story. I remember this used to be the GO TO ITALIAN CUISINE, the crust had an immaculate crunch that I could compare to curb stomp, a tomato that... was just heavenly. You couldn't compare that tomato, to anything. So good. The cheese aswell? I will not lie, the cheese always had a hard time staying on due to the undercarriages light nature, but I honestly don't care. I like floppy, messy pizzas as long as they have a nice crunch and tastes delicious. If I went into Crispellis today, and got the usual 11' Margarita, it would not have that crunch. Which sadly doesn't make up for the overly heavy cheese that denies to access to pick up, specifically as a straight, evenly distributed pizza with a nice char at the bottom. However, the tomato actually pops better than ever. I don't know if they put all there budget costs into making a fresher marinara, but oh lord, the tomato is everything. The pasta has never changed, still love their Spaghetti, it gets me full every-time. And overall, I've always loved the inside, i haven't been to any other locations besides this one, but I'd be surprised if this wasn't the biggest. When you think it's over, they take you to a bigger dining area. Never assume the first thing you see is all that's there, to your right there's a whole new bar area for anyone who wants to have fun. I still love Crispellis, but it's not the same pie like it used to be. 4/5 read more

I'll start by saying the food and service were so good I forgot to take pictures!! What a fun spot. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. It was our first time, so she explained our options- sit on one side for casual self serve or choose the dining room and service. We chose the dining room and enjoyed the care offered by all of the waitstaff. We started with an appetizer- meatballs and buratta which was delicious and served 3 quite nicely. We tried two pizzas. A thin crust with sausage and a Detroit style with the mushroom mix. Both were amazing. The night ended with cannolis and tiramisu. All our food was fantastic. To order food, you go up to the front counter to place your order and pay, and if you're dining in, they'll bring it to your table. We started off with a bottle of wine and then ordered the Michigan Salad, Cheesy Bread, Shrimp & Chorizo Pizza, and the Grilled Chicken Club. The sandwich comes on sourdough bread, and I couldn't choose between the basil pesto mayo and chili garlic mayo, so I got both on the side. (Pro tip: they're both amazing for dipping fries into!) Unfortunately, poor customer service puts Crispelli's on the MUST AVOID list. Treating a customer as poorly as they did on our last visit is just inexcusable - not replying to an email to address the situation just shows customer service is not a priority. We've been to this location several times and watched a steady decline in the quality. We were berated by their dessert/bakery counter guy after merely asking where our order was that was ordered 20+ minutes prior. We sat patiently waiting after our dinner was completed and asked a busboy - who told us our cannoli would be brought out to us. This just ticked the bakery/dessert guy off worse - who then decided to admonish the busboys in the dining area. Unfortunately, Crispelli's did not respond to the message I've sent via their website. When she did, there was no introduction or anything, just "what drink do you want?" Our food also took a long time to come (again, even though it was not busy). Everyone was nice, just slow. Got 15" margarita. take out, since this was their most popular. For 20$+ it was average. Not the best tasting for the price, not the worst. It was light and airy and mozzarella was nicely melted. Went to Crispelli's last night with my significant other, actually on a whim....Drove past it a bunch of times finally decided to visit & wasn't disappointed at all. Started with some appetizers of dry rub baked chicken wings, which were cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely. My entree was the bbq chicken pizza w/thin crust topped with some of everything I wanted. Which actually didn't take away from the pizza itself, my significant other had the shrimp & chorizo, which she substituted with some chicken. Nonetheless it was very tasty without the pork on it, the lemon zest was really surprisingly good. The salad was great also, and for dessert I had the peanut butter cheesecake, which was very delicious. The service was excellent our food as well as our appetizer came to the table rather quickly. As a native New Yorker, I'm a bit particular about my pizza. I gravitate towards the classic NY-style thin-crust pizza and rarely adventure to the Midwest-style deep-dish. Crispelli's is one of the handful of places in the area that absolutely nails the thin-crust pizza!! The crust is fluffy and not too thin and the sauce is packed with flavor. My favorite pizza on their menu is the "Shrimp Chorizo" (I substitute chicken for the chorizo) loaded with roasted peppers, fresh cilantro pesto, and several types of cheeses. I don't know what they put in the sauce but it's AMAZING. I tried exploring other things on the menu and fell in love with the "Margherita Pizza". Again, it's all about the flavor! They use super fresh mozzarella, and their staple sauce. It's simple but so good. I also add crushed red pepper for heat. This pizza is truly a beauty (as you can see below) and tastes even better. They also have a mini bakery of pastries and bread. I love their tiramisu. Overall the customer service is always on point. They're always quick to fix anything I have an issue with. Never again. The service has always been spotty. Sometimes the staff is friendly, and sometimes they seem annoyed by the presence of customers. One time, our pizza was burned. They were kind enough to make us another one without our asking, but then charged us for both pizzas. We tried to ask about it, but it was way too busy. Then, when I spent well over $300 on an order + tip for a big group, and there had to be a slight change, they were very certain to collect the $2.12 we owed. I don't blame the staff. Late Lunch on August 1 - Mixed Experience I visited for a late lunch on August 1 and while the food was good overall, the experience was impacted by a few service issues. Unfortunately, the wrong pizza was made for our table. I attributed this to the fact that there was only one server handling both the patio and the indoor dining area. It was clear she was overtasked, and not just our table--others were also waiting extended periods between interactions. When I first walked in, I noticed four tables with credit cards in hand, waiting to be cashed out. That should have been a sign of what was to come. I spoke with the manager about the situation, and he explained that the staffing model was based on the server's desire to make more money. I asked how that approach affects the customer experience, but he didn't have much to say beyond apologizing for the incorrect pizza. While I appreciate the quality of the food, the service model clearly needs reevaluation to ensure a better experience for guests. read more

They have several pizza options to choose from (my favorite being the Margherita pizza), as well as several other items, like pasta, salad, etc. They also have gluten free pizza options, which is a plus. Once you're seated, you look over the menu to which you then go up to the counter to order. The food is then brought to your table. The plates and silverware are near the pop machine, which is all self serve. The staff were all friendly and attentive to your needs with some additional light banter. They certainly add to the atmosphere and experience. The food was made fresh and delicious. The Mediterranean pizza was made with fresh materials and with just enough topping to make it very filling the other dishes also looked very fresh being the chicken sandwich and salad along with a pepperoni and mushroom pizza. This would be a stop for me again. The only odd thing is parking and that is easily overlooked once you understand the method of getting there. read more

We usually get carryout from here. It can be amazing some days and just okay on others. I typically love their pizza but the last time we ordered it was undercooked and the wings were too. The salad lettuce also isn't always the freshest--it's often browning which is disappointing. Aside from that one undercooked order, we usually really enjoy the pizza.
