    Pizzas
    Raina P.

I'll be honest, I was not in the mood for Italian when I got home from LA. I had just come off a very full 10-course tasting menu at a friend's restaurant (which was absolutely not "tasting" portions ), so pizza, pasta, marinara, meatballs... I was fully over it. That said, my family wanted to meet at amici, so here we are, and I'm glad we did. Right away, the service stood out. Our server had great energy..friendly, attentive, clearly busy but still present. It did take a minute for him to make a second lap around the table, but honestly, it wasn't an issue. We were chatting, catching up, and I had arrived a bit late anyway. A few pizzas were already on the way when I placed my order. Most of us ended up with our own pizzas, and I shared a few bites with my siblings. * Mushroom pizza: phenomenal. Crispy crust, fluffy interior, great flavor balance, this is the one I'd order again without hesitation. * Jerk chicken pizza with peanut butter: very interesting. Definitely well done, and I'm glad I tried it...it was creative and thoughtful but I personally could only do one slice. Not something I'd order a whole pie of, but still worth tasting. We also ordered a bunch of small plates: * Shawarma wings: really good, flavorful, well executed * Meatballs: solid and satisfying * Spicy/jalapeño shrimp: tasty and enjoyable There was another shrimp dish with crispy lemon that my sister loved and wanted to order extra of to take home for her kids, but unfortunately they ran out and only had one order left. That was a little disappointing, especially because the dish was clearly popular, but they communicated it clearly and offered alternatives. Drinks were great..I had a dirty martini that was delicious. At the end of the meal, my sister ordered the cookies, and unfortunately there was a noticeable piece of hair baked into one. I hate even mentioning it, but it did happen. That said, the way they handled it really matters and they handled it graciously and professionally. They apologized, were very kind, and gave us vouchers for free batches of cookies next time. Since I won't be back anytime soon, we gave them to our youngest sister. If I'm being nitpicky, it would've been nice to offer a replacement dessert in the moment, but I truly don't hold it against them. Mistakes happen. Food safety is important, yes but this didn't take away from the overall experience, the quality of the food, or the service. Overall: good food, good energy, thoughtful execution, and solid service. Even as someone who walked in fully "Italian-ed out," I left happy and satisfied. Would definitely return.

Update: we had Joshua for a waiter tonight and he was fantastic! Tried some new dishes (DIY pizza w pepperoni, roasted garlic, and mushrooms, which was FANTASTIC, and the spinach salad. Love how much salad you get for your $!) also, meet the owner tonight and he's a delight; he's got quite an establishment!

I had never been to Amici's before and it is the cutest local spot! We started at the bar with a drink before a table opened up on the patio outside - even though it was 85 degrees outside, they had a ton of fans running and the patio was shaded so it was very comfortable! We got the Caprese salad & the Emilia pizza. The Caprese was delicious and perfect for a summer evening, but I did find the greens slightly overdressed. The Emilia was also great, the only critique I have is that it wasn't very warm so I felt it may have been sitting for a bit before it was taken to our table - in all fairness they were super busy, so that could have been it too. Either way, I'll definitely come back to try more on their menu - everything looked so good!

Went with a large group and was intrigued.everyone in my group ordered something different so I got to try a few things. My favorite was the prosciutto flatbread. I'd love to go back again.

This place is very cute and SUPER busy, I highly recommend a reservation. The vibes here are nice for a date or girls night out. They have so many cocktail options but unfortunately no mocktails! The menu is mainly pizza and salad. We got the fried shrimp which was VERY good and a margarita pizza which my husband loved but I thought was just ok!

Charming neighborhood spot for pizza. They have variety of specialty pizzas with unique flavor combinations. We also tried one of the salads and wings which were also delicious. We came in the summer and has a chance to sit out in their lovely patio. The service was very friendly.

Beet Salad with Crispy Goat Cheese

This was the place to be on a Friday night. We ordered the Beet Salad with Crispy Goat Cheese, the Sroom and Grass pizza, and the Vegan Artichoke pizza. The salad was fantastic, with equal portions of greens to toppings, and the goat cheese was crispy on the outside and completely melted on the inside. The Sroom and Grass pizza was one of the best pizzas I've had in a while. Asparagus on pizza is not a common topping, but it enhanced the flavors and added a nice crunch. Now, the Vegan Artichoke was the star of the show. I could eat this pizza every day. It is the combination of toppings that works so well together. Spinach and artichokes already go hand in hand, but walnuts took this to another level.

This place is great. It is the closest thing you will find in the royal oak suburbs area that is very nice and modern but you can also tell it is a hole in the wall family owned restaurant. The appetizers/bread is huge! And the pizzas(pies) are perfect fire cooked and prepared simply. They also give a generous pour on their fairly priced (for the area) cocktails and martinis. During the colder months they do have an outside heated tent space to fit more guests and during the summer it's a patio. Good for a date night or group of friends (6 or less).

The first restaurant I visited while in Detroit Metro. Very cute pizza place with bar. Started off with the Elderflower and ended up having two!! Ordered the Three Pigs, Shrooms and Grass, and the Caesar's Salad. The food was great and the ambiance very cute--especially for date night The servers were very accommodating and friendly. I will definitely return when I visit Detroit again.

Great ambiance, good food. Eastern market pizza with blackened chicken was sooo good! Drinks were good but not strong. Outdoor seating is in rear of restaurant with view of the parking lot but still nice.

It was a lovely experience and the food was for the most part very delicious. Service was friendly and good but a tad on the slow side (not our server's fault, they seemed pretty busy and I think she may have been the only waitress working, so she was absolutely juggling a ton). They were out of the "pretty potatoes" which was disappointing because they sounded super delicious. The restaurant is a little dark and when very busy can get a little loud. The three women at the table next to us were having a very loud conversation (of which I picked up every word) and I could barely hear my fiancé, which I didn't love, so the acoustics are a bit odd. That being said, the decor and vibe is very home-y and everyone that works there was very pleasant and lovely, from the hostess to the man that refilled our waters. We got the charcuterie plate (selected two cheeses and two meats; comes accompanied by fig jam, mustard, sardinian crackers, and cornichons), the caesar salad, the short rib, the arctic char, and the olive oil cake for dessert. All of the food was really exceptional and delicious except I found the short rib to be a tad dry. We each ordered a cocktail, I got a spritzer and my fiancé got a seasonal Pimm's cup-type cocktail that used house-made cranberry syrup. They can accommodate gluten free diets easily which is also a plus. Overall, we will absolutely be coming back!I want to try that Wagyu Pastrami Reuben!

Walking in, there was very limited seating and about an hour wait, which clearly showed how popular this spot is. Thankfully, the hostess told us about their basement bar area where you can grab drinks and snacks while waiting. The drinks were REALLY good, and you can also order appetizers down there. Once we made it upstairs, we grabbed bar seating and talked to a few people around us who all said this was their favorite spot. Our bartender was amazing -- super attentive, explained the menu well, and gave great recommendations. We ordered the wings (perfectly seasoned and so good) and the chicken sandwich with buffalo added for a little spice... absolutely delicious. The flavor was fresh, light and fruity, with the bitterness of the coffee keeping it grounded and sophisticated. I even ate the orange slice at the end. As we followed our greeter to our table I kept screaming in my mind "no no no no no not that table no!" and she sat us at a table in full blasting sun. Nevermind the fact that there was a whole shaded section in the back part of the patio area. The rest of my group said it was fine and a beam of sun slowly bore a hole through my chest. Drink orders were up. I ordered a fabulous cross between a Moscow Mule and a Mojito. A+++ for the drinks. Mine was loaded with fresh mint from their garden. Same grade for our waitress who explained the drinks in detail and ended with "ugh- are you sure you want to sit at this table straight in the sun?" The other two said it was fine. I was ready to move, but was out voted. She continued to check in regularly and brought extra water. Most items on the menu were hot. I considered the fish, but we all landed on appetizers and we would just bounce from place to place for bites and drinks. We ordered the charcuterie board and the lavender lemon whip with bread and cucumbers for the 3 of us. The charcuterie board was the large version and had minimal offerings. It wasn't full and pretty. It was little piles of each thing on a board. This one definitely wasn't making it into Better Homes and Gardens magazine. There was a little pile of mixed nuts, a little pile of lose green grapes, a little pile of lose red grapes - not all grapes pristine or large and none were on the vine. There were 3 little piles of cubed cheese and 2 types of sliced sausage and sliced pepperoni. There were 8 crackers that were wheat thin size. This matters because we had some onion jam on the board and a nice serving of mustard. There really wasn't anything to put them on except for the 8 little crackers. That part was weird. These weren't elevated offerings. I could have picked up any of these at Walmart. They were not elevated quality either. We also got a lavender lemon infused whip which was their answer to tzatziki sauce. It was excellent but again, we were given so much of the sauce without a bunch to put it on. The cucumbers were sliced lengthways and there was a lovely bread that tasted like sourdough. There was 6 pieces of bread, and these were not particularly large pieces. A lot more would have been needed to use all of the sauce they gave. The proportions were off. All together the bill was over $100 for the 3 drinks and appetizers. If I ever did go back I won't order food based on what I experienced. There are too many other great options within walking distance.
