A casual Italian eatery with great food! Perfect for the family, friends, or a date on any occasion. Indoor and patio seating and a really good cocktail and beverage menu. The perfect spot to satisfying your Italian craving!

I had really large hopes for this place to be good, since I've heard it was one of the first, if not the first pizza chain to open up in Michigan that utilized sourdough as there main base. The pizza there was very good. The tomato really popped, that's what they believe makes a good pizza, you can taste that belief. That's something I will always believe, without a good tomato, no good pizza. The buffalo mozzarella did not like staying in place on the pizza, it just kept falling off. They always make their pizza too thin, and everything becomes a gross, sloppy mess. But when you get it out of the oven, that's the best experience. The crust was chewy, crunchy, and crispy all at the same time. I couldn't wait for the chicken wings to come AND... Those were genuinely the driest wings. No flavor, no meat. A lot of it was just bone. And then when the tiramisu came to the table I took a look around, just to see if anyone was watching me. I took a bite of the tiramisu, and it all came to me. It's good, but I can't like anything. Because I hate everything. I hate you. I am raci- 4/5

We have eating @ the Royal Oak location several times. Usually, on the lovely shaded patio with our dogs. Service was fast, friendly, and helpful. Upstairs seating was hosting someone's elegant birthday party- it looked like a perfect place for a special celebration! Will keep that in mind for future parties. Went in for a quick bite this time, we both ordered small plates, the homemade meatballs, and the arancini were topped with their excellent sauce- which we also enjoyed with some focaccia on the side. Hubs had a small bowl of minestrone which was homemade and had wonderful fresh chunks of veggies. Love this place! Will frequent it again and again.

Good day .. started happy hour so sat at the bar, which is very small but acquaint for being personable with the bartenders .. food who was delicious started with the carrots pairing as well as some shrimp and then to Fungi pizza with added arugula delicious ambience was wood furniture, fire wood everywhere, comfortable and comfy

Never have I left Bigalora and thought, that sucked. What a waste of calories and money. For years since they opened the first in Farmington Hills I've been a most loyal customers. Always good pizza and always good service. Every time without fail. My personal favorite is the wood roasted veggie pizza. It's simply great.

Fun ambiance and pretty quick service! I loved my pizza with pistachios and sausage and would totally order that again. My boyfriend was less of a fan of the pizza he ordered since the onions and peppers on it came out pretty raw still.

Nice spot to grab a quick bite if you're in the Royal Oak, MI area. We came after seeing a show at the Royal Oak Theater and it was a good choice. They offer numerous different wood fired pizzas made fresh in front of you in their open kitchen. If pizza isn't your thing there are also many different pasta dishes and small plates available. The atmosphere is casual, and gives you a small Italian pizza shop feel. They also have a small parking lot behind the building to save you from paying to park.

I love their pizza, we went Friday night and had a 20 minute wait so we had a beer at the bar. We were able to eat outside and enjoy the evening, our waitress was attentive and gave recommendations for the best pizza. Their pizza is made with the most amazing crust.

We ordered lunch from Bigalora for a co-workers birthday. We had several pizzas, 2 salads, a pasta Alfredo and cannoli. It was an amazing lunch! The staff was helpful, and one server even helped me carry everything to my car -- in 5* weather, and she didn't have a coat on. My only real criticism is that, rather than cutting the pizza themselves, they gave us a little pizza cutter so we had to do it.

I decided to check out the bar/lounge at the nearby Sheraton and have to say, no wonder Marriott decided to buy these guys! They have great beers on tap and great food. I had the sliders and the Santorini salad, which has fried artichokes on it. The sliders were great. Straight up beef patties on a brioche-like bun. No filler, slightly thin, but still tastes great and beefy. Just what I wanted. The Santorini salad is about twice as big as I thought it would be for $9. I really liked the greens which included butter, red, iceberg and romaine lettuces. It also had goat cheese, olives and fried artichoke hearts. Yum, but I couldn't finish it. Since I'm at the Res Inn I just took the rest with me. I also had the Blond ales on tap. Their big deal is supposed to be the wine selection, but the beer selection is very good. Perfect for slider night! Full, refreshed and ready for he long plane rides home tomorrow.

The food and service here are really good, and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. Located in the lobby of the Sheraton, you almost miss it because it is so quiet. The ambiance is a little dark but not really dark - so perfect for relaxing. There is an unobtrusive TV above the bar for sports enthusiasts, but it is quiet to allow for conversation. The food ranges from quite good to really, really good. The bruschetta is distinct and fantastic. The mixture is served separately from the crustini, ensuring that the bread doesn't get soggy. And it has little pieces of fresh mozzarella in it to add even more freshness! Their fried mozzarella is also quite good, clearly freshly made. A friend had their salad and got blackened salad on it and really enjoyed it. They are happy to customize orders, whether that be food or drink. And they are happy to make drinks extra strong, so that's never a bad thing!

There is a downstairs area (with bar), upstairs area and outdoor seating for when the weather is nicer. We completely lucked out and got the private room upstairs even though we didn't book it specifically. I loved the location being in the historic district, and they did an amazing job with restoring the mill into a cute restaurant. I had scoped everything out ahead of time so had adjusted my expectations for smaller portions and ordered accordingly. Unfortunately they don't have their cocktail menu online and I can't recall the name of what I ordered but it was very good. Everyone in our party was happy with their drinks. For food, we started with the monkey bread (10/10) - outstanding! The Caesar salad was also tasty. I got the mussels, which had really nice flavor and the sausage was a welcome addition - I just wish it had come with an extra toast or 2 for the broth. The smoked sturgeon was interesting - marinated and smoked for hours - you don't find that many places so I had to try, and really enjoyed it but wow the cornbread almost stole the show in that dish. Nobody cared for the pickled vegetables. Burger was a winner and really big actually. Dessert we got an assortment and the fan favorite was the creme brulee. They came and cleared dishes between courses, kept water glasses full, etc. and service was overall pretty top notch. Bill was pricey but it was a special occasion and I would definitely return for another.

We got lucky that they were able to seat us after a short wait. We were planning on taking seats at the bar (first come). If you want a table, you may want to make reservations. The restaurant is a house, lovely without being pretentious. With low lighting and low nose level, it would be perfect for a date. It has a New England feel, which makes sense as an oyster house, though they offer oysters from both coasts. The service was fantastic, particularly from our server Christina. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and had great timing, not an easy combination. My friend and I split the oyster roll and the fish special. The roll is a small plate, and it is very much appetizer sized, not meal. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I will note that they are pricy, I thought the cocktail prices were high for outside of the city. But otherwise a wonderful experience.

The seasonal menu was a bit different from what we saw online, but a lot of the same choices were still there. We decided to focus on sharing several of the small plates offerings: Caesar salad, homemade focaccia, whipped ricotta and crab cakes. The salad was pretty bland, plus we ordered it with shrimp, which they forgot, but later brought over (and deducted it from the bill, which was nice). The focaccia was excellent, as was the whipped ricotta. The crab cakes were fine - it seems like they are the same at most places. Gabby was a great server and did an awesome job taking care of us and many other tables. I also enjoyed the overall vibe of the place - it has the cool, urban vibe that Detroit needs to have more of.
