Went here on a Tuesday night, superb spot for a late night drink and bite (kitchen closes 11pm so make sure you get your order in before that). Tyler (the bartender) was awesome and had really good recommendations. Their Sichuan flavored wings are something else and a must do when you're there! The cocktails were great as well and the place had a great vibe. Tyler threw in a couple of cocktail shooters right at the end as well which topped off a great evening. This place came as a recommendation two days before were to leave Maine to come back to Florida. We thankfully made it there the day before we left. Went for early lunch and it was so good y'all, we went back for dinner! Holy crap, is this place incredible! The service, every dish we tried, perfection. I had the Spicy Sandwich and my husband had the Sichuan wings. No lie when I say that was the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. I'm ruined knowing I will never find anything like it around where we live. Husband loved his wings. For dinner we ordered the fried chicken which again, incredible. Also ordered the fried rice (so fluffy and flavorful) and Crying Tiger Ribeye which were both to die for. Wish we had heard about this place sooner! We joke about taking a trip back just to be able to go back and try more of their dishes. If you are ever in this area, make sure to go. The interior is stunning. We stopped into Crispy Gai for brunch after a long couple days of drinking and eating our way around Portland. I needed something spicy and delicious to preform a hangover exorcism and bring me back to life. Crispy Gai did not disappoint. The curry Bloody Mary was a great first step. Followed up with Szechuan style wings, a bowl of Khao Soi, some dumplings, and I was back to 100 percent. I could eat that Khao Soi for breakfast every day for the rest of my life. Our bartender Tyler was great. He kept the drinks coming and the conversation light. The restaurant space itself was cozy without being too small. The bar was spacious (stools were spaced appropriately)and amazingly decorated to fit the the restaurant's character. I love the food scene in providence but we're missing a place like Crispy Gai. There's a million places to get a good breakfast sandwich or egg dish but there is nothing that compares to having a bowl of noodles and some Szechuan spiced apps for the first meal of the day. read more

We had the four piece fried chicken, the Szechuan wings, the mushroom waterfall, and the fried chicken waterfall. The outside coating on the fried chicken for the wings and for the four piece it was very nice and crispy. However, the chicken inside of each was dry. I know they said it's Bryant on the menu but I really could not taste it. Was kind of dry like a Hannaford's fried chicken is after you get home. When I doused it with the two dollar sauces, the moisture content seemed reasonable and it didn't dry out your mouth with every bite. Beer was definitely a must. We had both the fried chicken waterfall and the mushroom waterfall. The chicken and mushroom in each of these were also quite dry. I would definitely not get these dishes again. The flavor and texture was nothing to write home about without tons of sauce. Perhaps if you ordered one of the two dollar sauces from the fried chicken that appeals to you and then doused the whole thing in sauce and on top of rice it would be OK. I'm going to preface this review by saying I never leave reviews on Yelp, i'm a full time server and bartender and it's just not something I normally do. My friend and I were visiting Portland for one night and I had been here before for a pop up in the past, so I was excited to give this place a visit once more. Upon walking in, the woman with blonde hair wearing a hat was really passive aggressive and made us feel super unwelcome. She told us we could sit at the bar, and I saw two tables were empty so I asked if it was possible to sit at a table instead. She then told us it would be fifteen minutes (which is honestly a long time to clear a table), so I asked if we could sit at the bar while we wait for the table to get cleared. She told us we definitely couldn't, so we followed suit and just waited outside. This was 9:20, so things were dwindling down and it wasn't mid service. Our server was kind, we ordered or meal and I also asked if we could get the mango sticky rice for dessert (my friend was super excited about it). I had like made a point that I was afraid they would run out, but I definitely ordered it with our main server. It seems like the two woman did not communicate or something because the check got dropped by the woman in the hat and the dessert never came. What we did have was delicious, but the service just wasn't it. I rarely get to sit down and have dinner in a restaurant and it genuinely made me sad to feel like such an inconvenience upon entering and then not having our order be correct. After everything we felt awkward mentioning it to them and we just paid and left. I don't want to lower the restaurants rating by leaving less than five because the food and drinks were great, but our experience was soured by the service and wanted to say something so hopefully that's not the norm moving forward. read more
