The hike from the bridge to 25th Ave is about 3 miles round trip. To make it longer you can go .5 miles through some side streets then hit the Lands End trail beside the Legion of Honor. The Batteries to Bluffs trail and California Coastal trail intertwine and are often mixed up with each other. Technically the Coastal trail goes along Lincoln while Batteries to Bluffs goes down closer to the beach and alongside the batteries but usually most people will go down one and come back the other way. There are so many beautiful photo opportunities but keep in mind that it's usually slightly to extremely foggy in these parts though there are some rare completely sunny days.

The trail has some stairs before it forks. You can take a left which goes through a path with many trees and views of the Seacliff neighborhood. There is also a large tree stump looking out toward the view that I've seen people meditate on before. This trail ends at Pershing Drive where the Baker Beach apartments are located. From there you can walk to and loop around with the Lobos Creek Trail. If you go right the trail goes to Lincoln Blvd where you can join the California Coastal trail to the bridge and loop back around coming the way you came or going through Fort Scott. Both loops are about 2 miles.

Looking for something a bit off the beaten path yet close to the city?…read more Here's another gem of a trail by the Presidio Trust, volunteers and funded by a grant from the Evelyn and Walter Haas Jr. This trail connects the still new Immigrant Point lookout with the Great Highway and leads right down to continuation options on the Coastal Trail. From the bottom, head north to connect to the Batteries to Bluffs trail, then back to the coastal trail, head south to either hit the sand ladder or stay on the coastal. Great views and a way to both preserve the land yet allow access. Good for kids, dogs and even active grandparents. Be careful crossing Great Highway, people aren't expecting pedestrians at the crosswalk there so eyes wide open. I run the area a few times a week and have been waiting for this to open to keep me off the roads and on the dirt. My dogs love it too! KUDOS to those who made it happen. Now get out and enjoy it! Can't wait for Rob Hill Campground up the road to be completed next...

The line was about six deep at opening. Great communications. While they were working on my bicycle, I received a call letting me know my brakes and rotors needed replacing also. That saved me another trip and a potential safety hazard riding downhill. All in all, bleeding of the brakes, brake pads, chain replacement, rotors, fixing the bent rear derailer was $400. My 8yr old daughter and I stopped by bc the chain on her bike was loose and i have no bike repair skills. Once the owner saw my daughter bike brand (Guardian), he refused to help. Then (with my daughter standing besides me), he proceeded to give me a several-minute diatribe about his hate towards the Guardian company and how they are a shitty company with bad biz practices. i respect any business owner to do business with companies of their choosing HOWEVER, to shit on the company of my daughter's bike right in front of her was rude and immature. Just say "we dont work on Guardian bikes"- end of story. So if you want to go to a bike shop with an owner that acts this immature in front of a child and clearly has a chip on his shoulder, this is the shop for you. i choose to do business with people who act with kindness and discernment.

I expressed that this seemed high, and in response, Brian explained that the shop primarily works on high-end bikes costing thousands of dollars. He also made comments about Burning Man and my bike that felt insulting and irrelevant. For contrast, I went to The Bike Hut the next day. The staff there were kind, helpful, and had my flat fixed, a new chain installed, and even gifted me a wrench...all for $40 and in under an hour. This confirmed my issue here was never about cost, but about how I was treated. The price wasn't the problem -- professionalism and respect were.

Presidio Tunnel Tops is definitely the new parkland that The City deserves! This is a vast haven with lush greeneries and play areas for kids, adults and paw companions. Reservations are encouraged for larger groups with assigned picnic tables and lawn areas, otherwise, it's a first come first served basis with people setting up blankets in the well manicured grass turf. With magnificent views of the Golden Gate, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Palace of Fine Arts and SF's iconic skyline, while standing on one spot. What more could you ask for? Sans marine layer of course. This park is also near the Walt Disney Family Museum for fans of the house of mouse. Helpful reminders for first time visitors. Either get early for parking or forget the adjacent lots like the French Court area and just go to the Anza Avenue, Outpost Meadow or the Crissy Field East Beach parking areas. Parking is free after 6 PM to 8 AM, so that is a plus for sunset vigils. Don't forget to pay at any of the kiosks! Plate number is mandatory. No printed receipt needed. It gets chilly and windy here so bring layers even in the summer. If you can, bring your own snacks and drinks as food truck and Il Parco offerings can get tourist trap pricey. All-Gender restrooms with communal sinks are located by the Presidio Field Station and the cafe.

Our toddler loves it. We love it coz of the views and variety of things we get to do. The outpost park is one of the best playgrounds out there. Here they are enjoying sliding / swinging/ climbing rocks and trees and walls without any plastic involved. The sand play area the hit ever single time. The local shrubbery and flowers in spring and summer, the giant green lawns with big red chairs, ones looking over golden gate and magnificent views of the city, food trucks offering variety of food all around the world, gender neutral restrooms, presidio field station for little ones to explore--- you have everything in this beautifully maintained area. It's truly one of the gems in the city. If you are visiting or bored of same four famous places consider visiting presidio. Bike, fly kite, play catch, /slide down the stone slide, enjoy views. Paid parking all around but it can be tricky. SF weather is chillier and overcast in summer ( thanks to fog), always layer up!!
