I went on a consult for me and my son; I emphasized that I was in pain and my son could get infected if he did not have a tooth extracted. Initially the staff at the front desk were polite however as time progressed they did not get back to me on the status of my authorization; up until now, over two months! At one point I called and the rep that answered the phone asked me if I received Medicaid; although I said no, I then understood the reason for the rude behavior. In this day and age it is sad to see profiling of any sort. I was constantly told that they had submitted the paperwork for authorization although upon calling the insurance company directly several times and even getting the insurance company to call them directly to assist in submitting the paperwork, I was told that nothing was submitted. This was confirmed with my last call to the office as the rep who answered said paperwork was not submitted. During this time the rep that handle insurance stopped taking my calls. I then received a letter saying they no longer would be accepting my insurance after October; in theory however I am still technically waiting for this authorization as we are not yet in October and based on our last conversation they have submitted all paperwork more than once; all of this is a lie! This company lacks empathy or integrity; I went to two separate locations for the consultations wasting my time and energy. Ironically it was my intention to have my implant done at this company whereas I would have paid full rate but it appears money, and the perception of money, is more important to them than professional empathetic and highly moraled behavior.

BE AWARE, they will double bill the patient and insurance company the same AMOUNT! Base on your insurance info, they first will ESTIMATE how much you pay at the office visits, the estimate is 10X of the amount you actually need to pay. If your copay is only $25/$35, they will still make you pay full at the office and bill insurance company the same! And it will take months (and I'm still waiting) for them to refund you the money, and bill your other visits and use it as a credit (excuse not to refund). They will argue everything and get so impatient and seems to act all legit but extremely unethical. Money comes first before patients, ASSHOLES!! (by the way, I had my wisdom tooth removed, Hendi was very good, but he is no longer there) On a separate issue, I was going to get nightguard from them due to my TMJ pain (from grinding), but had my doubts about them so I didn't want to make appointments until they get me an insurance estimate. They told me insurance DOESNT cover at ALL and say doc will give me a discount. So, I called insurance myself and they say it will cover 80% under teeth grinding and apparently, the doc didn't put that as the diagnosis code. I called TWICE to the office to speak to the doc about the type of guard they are getting (I'm assuming it might be different, and I would be ok to get it if it is a better guard). NO phone calls back, and I waited 2 weeks in between which wasted a month on them. One occasion when I called, the front desk even argued with me about my diagnosis code without asking who I was, so much for putting Patients' interest first. If you don't have a choice about your doctors, make sure you don't pay anything to them, just WALKOUT! What they gonna do? They can't handcuff you!!!

Dr. Levine not only has great bedside manner, but is a quick and painless dentist. He always made sure I was informed of my procedures, the cost, etc before starting and frequently checked to make sure I wasn't in any pain before, during, and after the procedure. In the three times that I have been here, every time has been as wonderful as the last. I've been in and out in under an hour, seen on time, been treated very, very well, and had quality dental work done. They checked my dental insurance before I got to the office and knew my policy did not cover the x-ray they needed and never contacted me to tell me beforehand and expected me to come out of pocket over $200 the same day. 3. When one of the ladies from the front desk came into the room to explain my policy to me, I asked her why no one called me to inform and I was not given an answer. It was just very matter of fact and not apologetic at all. I would suggest going somewhere else where the staff treats you better. A wisdom tooth extraction is a pretty common procedure. I've had all four of mine extracted at one time or another. All covered by dental insurance with no problems. My husband came out of the evaluation. Then they informed us it was 260.00 for the x-rays and that they don't take any dental insurance. Then they informed us that the procedure for all four extractions would be $3,000.00!!! I informed them that they will not be our dental surgeon. If you are rich go ahead. He is very caring, thoughtful, knowledgeable and ethical. He had a very pragmatic and thoughtful recommendation, and described well pros and cons of different approaches to my issue. We also worked on a cost estimate, which was very helpful as some of procedures are not fully covered by insurance. I trust his opinion wholeheartedly, and he is one of the few professionals I met who will really look out for you. It is not easy these days, in my experience, to find an excellent professional who does not upsell/ recommend expensive procedures you don't really need. Dr. Scheweiss is that rare find!
