    Purple corn drink
    Grace W.

A friend of mine introduced me to this place, on Douglass road and tucked away in between residential houses. Very cute but extremely small and no space to eat inside or wait - definitely can't adhere to social distancing. My friend doesn't like their other meals. But I had the api with cheese and sugar and it was delicious- fried crispy savory and sweet, the purple corn drink was interesting but not something I would probably get again.

This is a cute little place! The food and prices are decent. I had the Tacumanas, which are similar to Saltenas or Empanadas. It was filled with chicken, peas, egg, potato, and some spices. I also had the sweet peach tea drink, which is called a Mogochinche. The staff seemed nice, too! Unfortunately the menu had no English translations, and I wish they would get more Bolivian drinks and more Bolivian sodas instead of the sodas that they have now, or at least bring in more natural sodas. Otherwise, everything else was good. The food seemed almost like home-cooked food and authentic.

The api con pasteles is really good. It's a bit on the pricey end compared to other places but you really get a bang for your buck here. The pasteles are huge and the api is always fresh. It's my favorite place for breakfast.

This place has good food but the waiters are not very attentive. The place is not professional looking.

The service was excellent and accommodating. I was impressed because I know large groups can be difficult to wait on, so was very pleased with the service and how quick they were to get our orders in and us served. We ordered a variety of appetizers, such as the the empanadas, calamari, and garlic shrimp. My favorite items were the empanadas and calamari, which were extra tasty with the accompanying sauces. We also ordered a variety of grilled meats, including the two large Parrillada meat platters and picanha . The accompanying sides we tried were the fries, cheese rice, fried yucca, and plantains. I really liked the plantains, but the cheese rice was not was I expected. It was more like grits than cheesy rice. The meats were cooked to how we requested it, and of course tastes especially good with the sauces. My favorite cuts were the strip steak, beef rib, and picanha. I didn't really care for the sweet breads, but that is a personal preference. Value wise, the Parrillada platters could easily feed 4 - 5 people, so we had plenty of leftovers. I would definitely recommend checking out La Estancia if you enjoy grilled meats!

They were not very busy when we arrived but remained attentive during our entire visit. The food was fresh, well-seasoned, and delicious. We got a parrillada mixta, which means mixed grilled meats. It was superb! My husband had a cup of coffee, which was also good. Usually, restaurants go for generic coffee, and it's always overcooked. This was fresh and delicious. The restaurant is nicely decorated, music is playing, and there is a bar. It would be a great hang-out spot.

We also tried the salteñas, and those were really tasty. Personally, I enjoyed them, although I know some of my Bolivian friends would probably disagree and say they were a bit dry. I actually liked them that way. The service was fine. Our server was attentive and brought everything out promptly. What we did not like was the billing situation at the end. The check included a 19% service fee, and then there was a separate receipt for an additional tip with suggested amounts of 18%, 20%, and 25% (if I remember correctly). Since I thought the 19% service fee was already quite high, I asked the server if that fee was the gratuity. He said yes. When I asked why there was a separate receipt asking for an additional tip, he didn't really have an answer. What made it even more concerning was that the suggested tip amounts appeared to be calculated on the total bill, including the 19% service fee, rather than just the food and drinks subtotal. That felt very misleading. If you decide to eat here, make sure to read your receipt carefully before paying.

I discovered them through IG, as they mentioned that they had saltenas... I should have called to…read moredouble check. As of today Saturday July 28th, they didn't. First of their shared parking lot sucks.. it's narrow and idk how some people got their license... VA drivers! One parked so close to my car I had to enter thru my passenger side... so avoid parking in the gravely parking lot. So the place is small, they were packed by noon. The service is ok... I got their sopa de mani...peanut soup... as I didn't wanna order anything else.. they didnt have any apps. Only soup and entrees.. Again NO saltenas!! My soup sucks... not very flavorful.. since when this soup is made with spiral noodles? If anything they are suppose to have crispy French fries as you would see in past photos. Yuck?!! One sole piece of meat. I was never checked on, as I would have mentioned that the soup was a disappointment. It lack so much. It was very milky.. and no much of anything. I had this soup at so many places, and I'm recovering from COVID. I needed something nourishing. This was awful. Save yourself a trip here, drive down the street and go to Luzmarys. You'll definitely have a better and authentic Bolivian experience, idk how this place has high ratings.

Tried the fricasé paceño for the first time and it was delicious. And they do half portions of the pique which is great if you want to just try it. My favorite thing though is the sarnitas or bread they give you with every meal. I get extra of those to take home because they are so good. Also I recommend trying their housemade drinks like linaza or mochochinche. I like their linaza. Heads up that they don't do pitchers for groups. Just single cups. It's a small place so I wouldn't go with a big group unless you want to wait or call ahead. I think it's best for 2-4 people.
